Hexed and Hopeful: A Wolf Shifter Fated Mates Paranormal Romance

Rate this book
Lucinda thinks she doesn't have a fated mate. Garrett knows she belongs to him.

Welcome to Hexed and Hopeful Hospital, where no hex is hopeless.

Every patient at Hexed and Hopeful Hospital suffers from a witch’s hex: some are mice, some are toads, some can’t remember who or where they are. All that changes after an ancient spell breaks the hexes, setting the patients free but allowing chaos to reign.

Until the new doctor arrives, Lu is wrangling the staff and preparing the patients for a new lease on life. Her job may be the Seer for the Howling Forest wolf pack, but she’s focused on making sure every patient at Hexed and Hopeful finds the happy ending that’s always eluded her.

When Dr. Garrett Easton arrives at his new job as the doctor of Hexed and Hopeful Hospital, he’s shocked to find his long-sought fated mate taking charge. She smells like home, and he’s ready to claim her.

Only problem? She doesn’t believe she has a fated mate. There’s more to Lu than meets the eye (and nose), but Garrett will unravel her mysteries as he wins her heart.

Everyone’s checking out of Hexed and Hopeful, but Garrett’s determined to make Lu admit to love.

Hexed and Hopeful by Beth DeWeese was a very good read.

I really enjoyed this story and the world the author created. It felt engaging and had a lot of potential. The plot mainly focuses on the two main characters, Lu and Garrett, which I appreciated. Their romance was a highlight for me, and I loved following their dynamic throughout the book.

That said, I do wish the story had explored the world a bit more, especially the larger issue with the spells in the hospital, as it felt like an interesting aspect that could have been developed further.

Overall, it was a quick, fun read that I had a great time with.

This felt rushed to me. I know it's a short story so of course there would not be a lot of depth or fleshing out of the story. Maybe I'm just in a reading funk and not connecting with the last couple of books I've read. At least it was free during one of those stuff your kindle events

Fun, Sweet, and Full of Magic
I really enjoyed this one. Lu and Garrett were a fun couple to follow, and I liked the whole setup of Hexed and Hopeful Hospital and all the magical chaos surrounding it. Lu was such a caring character, always focused on helping everyone else even when she had her own things to figure out. Garrett was sweet and determined, and I enjoyed watching him try to win her over.

There were plenty of cute and funny moments, along with some interesting magical twists and a nice found-family feel with the hospital staff and patients. It was a fun, lighthearted paranormal romance with a good mix of romance, magic, and humor. I especially liked seeing Lu slowly come to terms with what she wanted for herself and her future.

Overall, this was a cute and entertaining read with characters I enjoyed spending time with, and I’m definitely curious to see what comes next in this world.

Thank you to StoryOrigin and Beth for the review copy, this is my honest review.

Fun and fast paced, this story goes perfectly with the Howling Forest Shifters series. Lu, the pack Seer, is the lead female character. We get to know about her secretly held past, and understand a bit why she's so hesitant to open up to others. Garrett was a lively character, whom I loved from the first meeting. Positive Lu is his mate, he's determined to break through her denial. The bickering tension between them was entertaining, as was watching the bond start to slowly form. The setting of this book was unusual, a clinic for those who've been hexed. Events prior to this books opening made the clinic as a whole rather chaotic, and that was the setting for the MCs meeting (and courting?). Overall, it was a highly enjoyable read, one I wish had been longer, as I really liked the MCs and want to know what happens in the future.

I was gifted a copy of this book and voluntarily provided this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

Garrett and Lu are fated mates that find themselves at the Hexed and Hopeful hospital after the patients who were hexed are awakened from their curse. And that is my only complaint about this book, we get placed in the story after the hexes are broken, we get a bit of “the hexes were broken by a spell from an old manuscript “, they were trying to bring back one patient and instead the whole hospital changed back. It would have been nice to have the story start from where the spell originated and who found it etc. This story mostly revolves around Lu being half witch, half wolf shifter who can’t shift, and Garrett the doctor who is a wolf shifter and her fated mate. She thinks otherwise and that takes up the majority of the book. The book takes about an hour to read. 4✨’s for a well written, if short and a bit scant in depth, read.

3.75 stars rounded up. This book was super cute and I loved the storyline, but it felt like I was dropped into the middle of the book. I'm not sure this fully functions as a standalone unless you don't need a lot of background information.

Our FMC is working at a magical hospital for cursed shifters after everyone's curses are broken. There isn't any explanation as to how or when the curses were broken or about any of the patients. A new doctor arrives (our MMC) and instantly scents that the FMC is his fated mate. The rest of the book follows their story, not the overall story about the curses. It felt like is was reading a snippet of a larger story and had too many questions.

That being said, I enjoyed all of the character interactions. It was fun and playful and made me want to read more about what was happening.

This was my first time reading anything by Beth DeWeese, and overall I found it to be a breezy, entertaining read. The Howling Forest setting was charming and gave me a bit of a Southern Vampire Mystery vibe. I especially enjoyed the premise of a hospital that treats victims of magical hexes, which felt like a fresh twist on paranormal romance.

This was also my first shifter romance, and I found the fated mates concept easy to follow even as a newcomer to the genre. While some of the characters and dialogue felt a little eye-roll-inducing to me personally, the humor and quick pacing kept me engaged throughout the story.

If you're looking for a light paranormal romance with shifters, magic, and a cozy atmosphere, this is an enjoyable read.

I loved Lucinda (Lu) and Garrett’s romance in “Hexed and Hopeful”. This wolf shifter, fated mates romance was full of heart-felt emotions, self-discovery, and fated mates at their best. “Hexed and Hopeful” is a well-written journey of two individuals that are dedicated and hard-working. Each felt that they would never get their chance at a happy ever after with their one, their fated mate. However, they learn that they are indeed fated for one another. Their journey of helping others leads them to each other and their own happy ever after. I loved this addition to the Love and Other Curses series. This author has a way of bringing romance to the paranormal world that is both intriguing and enjoyable to read. “Hexed and Hopeful” by Beth DeWeese is highly recommended.

"A Stunning Shifter Romance Story"

This story is so exciting, funny and steamy hot.It has awesome characters.
Lucinda aka Lu is a non shifting wolf. She is the packs seer and counselor. She works part time at the supernaturals hospital called Hex and hopeful. It is designed to help supernaturals who have been Hexed! They are getting a new doctor which she is assigned to greet.
Garrett is a sexy wolf shifter doctor. When he gets to the hospital. Something strange happens he is forced into a shift! It seems his wolf caught the scent of their fated mate.
Could fate have sent Garrett to Hex and Hopeful to find his fated mate? Now can he convince her to accept him? You will love this five star plus story.

An incredible short story finale in the Howling Forest Wolf Shifter Fated Mates series by Beth DeWeese. Her world, as always, is delightful and captivating. Vivid and magical throughout the story. The story takes off with action right from the start and doesn't end. I literally couldn't stop reading. The characters are all engaging and fun and the two MC'S, Lu and Garrett, relationship sparks with sizzling chemistry right from the start! I absolutely love this story and highly recommend it and the series!

Such a fun and quick story for one of the side characters in the series. I love when we get a chance to get these stories because there is always at least one side character that has a story that should be told!
This is fast paced. Lu is the one that helps everyone else find each other but doesn’t think she’ll ever have someone of her own. Thats until Garrett comes in and claims her. She is reluctant at first but Garrett doesn’t give up.
Very satisfying to see a happy ending.
Thank you Beth for a copy!

This is actually the first book I have read in the series. To me the beginning was a little confusing, because I was unfamiliar with the previous books. But once I got into the standalone story, I did enjoy the storyline.

I liked both Garrett and Lu. He was very determined and patience. She , because of her past, was very reluctant. There first encounter was very interesting.

The story is short, sweet and steamy. The HEA was endearing.

It would be interesting to read the series rom the first book.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I found the book an okay, quick read. I also found out after I read it that it was part of the series about the Howling Forest shifters. So I may go on to Amazon and read the previous books because you can't judge an author by one book alone. This book is about Lu and Garrett, and Garrett having to prove to Lu that she is his fated mate. But will she ever believe him, or has her past convinced her that forever is not on the cards?

Lucinda believes that she has no faded mate. Garrett, however, knows Lucinda is his mate. Hexton hopeful is a hospital where every patient is suffering from a witches hex. This book Garrett is my favorite character. Little and Garrett Baker constantly and the tension is palpable. The characters are cute and this book is such a fun chaotic read and I am curious to see what happens in the next one.

Unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. I think it could have benefited from being a bit longer, as the story and characters would have been stronger with more development. I had a difficult time connecting with the characters and felt like I wanted more depth and detail throughout the book. While other readers may enjoy the fast pace, it ultimately didn’t work for me.

This was a cute fated mates story, Lucinda seems like a lost soul and Garrett is her safe place. Enjoyed the story and pace with a hint of spice. Would have enjoyed more dialogue with the side characters. 3.5 ⭐️

This was a cute story. Lucinda refuses to believe Garrett is her fated mate. The hospital frogs "curse" was broken??!! Lu still refuses to believe it will be forever due to her past experiences. How does Garrett assure his mate of her future???

If you are a fan of the Howling Forest series, and someone wanting Lu to get her happily ever after, you're going to love this short, spicy read that comes right after the events of Rescuing the Red Feather! This book is NOT closed door, and gives Lu the happy ending that she deserves. A great little addition to read right after Red Feather to find out what happens at Hexed and Hopeful Hospital.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is a novella as part of an overall series. Without reading the series, I understood what was happening in this book. I really enjoyed it and loved the paranormal and shifter aspect - which is one of the reasons I chose to read this. Although it was short, it was packed with drama. A fab read.

I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I liked how Garrett sensed his mate when he arrived at the hospital. It might have taken him a bit to convince Lu he was her mate and that he wanted her as she was. I'm glad Lu accepts him and they admit their love.

Went back to the begining of the series and realized there wasn't any romance in the beginning. I hadn't planned on reading this. Y'all it's CLOSED door.

I really enjoyed this.

Now I might be a newbie when it comes to fated mates etc because I haven’t really read anything about them before so that could be why the whole ‘fated mate’ thing felt incredibly overwhelming.

The characters were cute, I didn’t particularly like how the FMC was this big strong leader at the beginning and by the end she was just putty to this man and no longer stood up and took charge.

But their romance was cute, the side characters getting involved were cute, the book as a whole was cute.

This was a short and sweet read from one of my fave authors of the paranormal genre.

I love Beth’s shifters. And this one didn’t disappoint. In a hospital setting and the new Doctor arrives. But he brings something a little more than expected for FMC Lu. She’s a little less receptive to his advances and certainty but gradually things progress as the story plays out.

Something fun to read if you me short on time or just facet a spicy pallet cleanser. I highly recommend Beth’s other books too!! Check it out.
