A year after having her heart broken by the woman she thought she’d spend the rest of her life with, Chloe is celebrating the anniversary of that heartbreak by spending a couple of weeks alone in a remote mountain cabin. Preferring to keep her life controlled and liking things to be planned, she’s unpleasantly surprised when a knock at her door changes the two weeks of isolation she planned for herself.
When a snowstorm knocks out the power in the remote cabin she rented for a week after a press scandal, Savannah goes to the only other cabin she can find on the mountain, hoping that someone inside will rescue her from the fast-approaching blizzard. The pop star, known around the world, hasn’t exactly planned for a blizzard or a hike through the woods, and the woman she meets at her rescue cabin seems to not want to be disturbed.
In this opposites-attract, forced-proximity novella, you’ll watch Chloe take down a few walls as she and Savannah grow close in a winter storm.
Nicole Pyland is a bestselling author of lesbian romance stand-alone novels and series like Chicago Series, Holiday Series, Royalty Series, Sports Series, and more. Since 2017, she’s published over 60 novels (not including her What Happened After shorts), and more books are on their way.
Nicole grew up in Indiana, studying English & Film and then getting a MS in Behavior Analysis and moving to California, working by day as a Head of Training at a startup. She lives with her wife and their opinionated cat, who spends his evenings helping her write stories by occupying half the chair.
Chloe is planning a fortnight away in a remote cabin in winter, on the one year anniversary of her non-wedding, when she was jilted at the altar. She is a planner, everything just so, and so when she had been at the cabin for only a day and Savannah knocks on the door asking for help, she is frustrated. Savannah’s ex had been sleeping around, and so she dumped him. However, because of her stardom, she had needed to get away from the media circus the breakup caused, and rented a cabin in the mountains. After the electricity went off she didn’t have heat, and so went searching for the nearby cabin she had seen earlier. It’s really cute, the way Chloe is often klutzy and awkward. Her character is very well written, and from the first chapter we get her planning and triple checking everything. Also, the first chapter never mentions her by name; it’s always “she”, which gives us a view into her vulnerabilities and awkwardness. I liked Chloe the most - a very three-dimensional woman, whereas I found Savannah a less filled out character. Savannah is such a genuine person, very relatable, different from how celebrities are often portrayed. Snowed in tropes are overused, and I was a bit hesitant about reading this for that reason, but I know Nicole Pyland always writes good books. Because ‘snowed in’ is always an insular type of story, I expected that, but after they returned to their daily lives I expected the style to change to reflect that, but it didn’t. There is still a feeling of detachment, as though they are in their own private bubble, and it feels rushed towards the end. We didn’t get to see much about their lives outside the cabin. The ending was lovely, but so abrupt. I would have liked to have seen more about their daily lives, how they handled it, Chloe meeting Savannah’s family and friends. I had hoped for a second full change of scene after the cabin.
It’s not every day a superstar singer-songwriter knocks on the door of your snowbound cabin. It happens to Chloe. Awkwardness gives way to attraction and then to heat. I loved Chloe, I loved Savannah, I loved the passion and feels in this one-night to forever romance.
4/5 – sapphic, contemporary, celebrity, snowed-in, cozy, novella. A light, cozy, enjoyable romance. As is often the case with snowed-in stories, the romance develops pretty quickly, but I actually thought it was handled well here—especially with the discussions about the future. Good spice (and a 69 scene, woo!), and overall a fun winter read. Very fitting as I stare out at the ~20 inches of snow we got this weekend.
a very enjoyable and free of drama read. Things start to happen right away and smoothly, quite entertaining, tbh. We only get a glimpse of their personalities because of the length of the story, but both characters still show they are interesting enough. Against the odds they have plenty of chemistry, IMHO. I felt quite entertained about this one, y'all should go get yours.
What an enjoyable read. Savannah music icon doesn’t know how to pack for winter vacations. She finds herself without power, no generator, inadequate attire and decides to walk through knee deep snow to the closest cabin a mile away. Chloe on the other hand her contingency plans have contingency plans. Savannah showing up at her door is an inconvenience. Until it’s not..
Loved Savannah and Chloe the difference in their personalities, how Savannah could read Chloe. The scenes were so well set felt I could feel the cold.
Wow, this novella came as a freebie with Nicole’s newsletter and what a surprise it was. Cabin Crasher, by Nicole Pyland, is a forced proximity, opposites attract romance and well worth the read.
Chloe is still recovering from the breakup of her relationship a year ago and has rented a remote cabin for two weeks with the sole aim of being alone. All was going to plan until a snowstorm and a knock at the door. Chloe cannot believe the person standing in front of her is Savannah, a celebrity singer. Savannah is renting a cabin a mile away, and the snowstorm has knocked out her power.
Escapism at its best and talk about hot. I thought the snow would melt a lot sooner as they get to know each other!
Chloe is vacationing in a cabin when someone suddenly hammers on her door. She's surprised to see Savannah, a famous pop singer, who it turns out was staying nearby but lost power and heat.
Chloe is up there 'celebrating' the one year anniversary of her fiance dumping her, and Savannah is there because her football playing boyfriend got caught cheating.
Chloe is also there to try to get writing again, she's a novelist who's blocked. Also, Savannah read her books.
Zs they get to know each other Savannah confesses she finds Chloe hot, but Chloe is hesitant. They sleep together, but Savannah needs to go back to her life.
Short and sweet ‘forced proximity’ tale as ‘heartbroken a year before’ Chloe attempts to spend time alone in a remote cabin but is forced to give hospitality when pop star Savannah comes knocking on her door during a storm. Chloe knows she’s a lesbian which doesn’t seem to bother Savannah at all. The reasons for that become obvious as events unfold in this. There’s some ‘will they, won’t they’ and some coming out drama but it’s low on major angst. Not a bad way to spend a few hours in the current cold weather…
I gave it a 3 not because the story was bad, it was cute. I gave it a 3 because there was no epilogue. When you give us a story and we love the MC and there is no end story to how there future turned out it’s a disappointment. Majority of the time I always check to see if there is an epilogue and if there isn’t one I don’t read the book. I happened to over look it this time and it was too late I’d already started reading it. If you don’t mind that then it’s a good read.
I was asking in a group a while back about two women stranded in a cabin in the snow and voila, one of my favorite writers comes through with this gem of a story. ( seems like she wrote it a few years back but I must have missed it somehow). I loved this book about a meticulous writer (Chloe) and a famous singer (Savannah). This book has it all and I don't want to spoil what all entails but it is the kind of ending that I love to hear in a lesbian romance book.
You can never go wrong with a Nicole Pyland book. Always a great story with loveable characters. That being said...if it's a stand alone book and she leaves a shit ton of unanswered or unfinished story line then ............ So. Fingers crossed that there is a continuation.
This was such a great story. Didn’t take long for things to start happening but also didn’t feel rush. So much passion and sweet moments in this story. I think there is a lot of room for another book. I love to see how this relationship continues to develop.
This was a great winter read filled with witty banter, multiple spicy scenes, and a secluded setting. Both of the main characters were engaging and grew as a result of their relationship.
Nicole writes like no other. I've read everything thing she writes and still she amazes me with her way with words and emotions. I felt these characters. Their fears and thoughts were mine...I was there Thank you for giving me few hours of dreams.
