I am the Prince of Shadows, and I’m on the hunt to find the cure to my brother’s salvation. Her blood is the key to the curse, so she will die by my hands.
I find the witch I swore to kill, and she is a temptation wrapped in fire–– defiant, wild, made from the devil himself, and I am far too willing to sin. Her touch burns, her kisses are poison, and her eyes promise ruin. Now I am faced with an impossible End her life and save my brother… or claim her as mine and damn them both.
Amara
He is a prince carved from darkness, and his powers wrap around me like a dark temptation–– dangerous, intoxicating. He calls me Little Vixen with a low, wicked hunger and a voice made of velvet sin. It’s a promise and a warning tangled together.
Every kiss tastes like betrayal waiting to happen.
I knew he was hiding something from me, but I never would have guessed he is supposed to be my executioner… not the one who lights my body on fire with every touch.
One temptation could ruin them both… or ignite a power stronger than either of them could have ever imagined.
Perfect for readers who love dark witch romances, morally gray shadow princes, and the obsession found in novels like The Coven by Harper L. Woods, Her Soul to Take by Harley Laroux, and King of Flesh and Bone by Liv Zander.
I live in Pennsylvania, with my amazing husband and four beautiful children. Two boys and two girls. Some things about me, I am a romance junkie, I am addicted to coffee, and I love dancing and listening to music.
It has always been a dream of mine to write for a living. I love the art and creativity of writing, especially romance of course.
I was born in California and as a child growing up, my family and I moved around a lot and that gave me a large passion, a driving desire for writing and reading, the older I have gotten the greater my desire grew to become an author.
I love sitting on the front porch watching the creek in peace. It is where I find my creative drive. I love baking with my family, but I also enjoy lazy time, relaxing and spending quality time with the whole family.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review, and I went into it expecting a dark romance. What I didn’t expect was that this would lean much more toward dark fantasy romance—which was a surprise in both good and challenging ways.
Overall, Ruin Me, Little Vixen is enjoyable and very easy to read. The pacing keeps you turning pages, and it’s the kind of book you can fly through in a short time. That said, for me it felt a little too fast, too soon, too much. Certain developments happened so quickly that they lost emotional impact.
One thing I personally missed—and really needed—was yearning. I wanted tension. I wanted longing. I wanted that slow burn ache that makes the payoff devastating. Instead, the relationship progressed in a way that felt predictable, which made some moments less powerful than they could have been.
Because this is a fantasy romance set in an academic environment with characters who have powers, I was hoping for stronger world-building. Sadly, that part was very minimal. In fantasy—especially when magic and hierarchy are involved—I need a solid sense of rules, atmosphere, and structure to fully immerse myself. I didn’t quite get that here.
That said… the characters were a highlight. They were likable, interesting, and easy to connect with, which carried the story for me even when other elements felt rushed or underdeveloped.
✨ Final thoughts: A good, entertaining read with strong characters and a darker fantasy vibe, but one that could have benefited from deeper world-building, more emotional tension, and a slower burn. If you enjoy fast-paced dark fantasy romance and don’t mind minimal lore, this might still be very much your thing.
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Author: @j.s.rodriguez_author POV: Duel 1st person Gene: Urban Paranormal Romantasy Triggers: Sexual Explicit, mentions of domestic violence & sexual assault, kidnapping, murder, etc. Read Time: 6-8 hours Expected Publishing Date: 2/7/2026
❤️ World Building: The world building wasn’t intense or overly detailed, but didn’t detract from the story in any way. There were several different locations in this book and each was detailed enough to give you the feel of the place, with textures and sounds, and with the feeling around it.
❤️ The Characters: The characters were incredible. Amara & her sister Ana were adorable. How I imagine sisters would be like. Brandon and other other side characters also stand out and have a depth you don’t often get in side characters. But Xavior was just extraordinary! He is what I require in my shadow daddy! Dark, dangerous, and scary…I know I said I’d say more, but I shouldn’t, you really need to experience that first hand for yourself!
❤️ The Story: The story was so moving! You wouldn’t expect such a spicy book to also break your heart, over and over again! The depth of the feelings behind this book was just incredible! The story had me on my toes (or curling them) for the whole book!
❤️🔥Overall: What an amazing book! This one is the first one to make it to my best of 2026 list!
I was gifted this book free for my honest opinion, you know the drill 😉
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Ruin Me, Little Vixen is the kind of dark romantasy that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go.
The atmosphere from the get go was heavy with danger, temptation, and makes you think “something bad is about to happen” tension that is dark romance readers live for.
The chemistry between the main characters was electric — not just physical, but emotional in that slow-burn, push-and-pull way that makes every interaction crackle.
There was a constant sense of power, obsession, and vulnerability woven through their dynamic, and it was completely addicted watching it unravel.
This isn’t just a romance — it’s dark, emotional, and full of characters who feel raw and damaged in a way that makes you want to both protect them and watch them self-destruct.
I will say though I did not enjoy the epilogue it felt out of theme with the book with what the MFC called the MMC and it just threw me off, but I'm glad it happened at the end of the book and not halfway through.
Huge thank you for the ARC — this book absolutely ruined me in the best way. 🔥🖤
I am sill in shock from this book J.S. Rodriguez!! I absolutely ate it up! I honestly wished the book was longer it was so good. If you like shadow daddies, witches, werewolves, fae and vampires this book is for you!!
Amara (FMC) is a witch that has a death sentence giving to her thanks to a curse put on to the shadow prince Xavier’s brother from her mother. Xavier will do anything to save his brother Axel, but when he soon realizes that Amara is so so much more then an easy kill things start to change. The chemistry these 2 have is sexy, dangerous, dark, heavy and romantic. Amara soon finds out that she is to be killed and gets her sister Ana and attempts to flee. She will do anything to save herself so she sacrifices herself and runs. The love these 2 sisters have is as strong as the 2 brothers have.
This book has the perfect title because it ruined me in the best way possible!! I laughed, cried, felt heavy, and even felt like I was in the book. The book was definitely more than a 5 star review for me and I recommend it everyone!!

Ruin Me, Little Vixen did exactly that—it ruined me. This book is a full emotional rollercoaster, and I’ve only just come up for air after finishing it.
The story launches straight into the action and never lets up. The FMC quickly became a favourite of mine: she’s not a pushover, but she still has softness and the capacity to be hurt, which made her feel real and grounded. The MMC is everything a shadow-daddy trope lover could want—and more. He nearly made me hate him… and then I liked him again, so props to the author for crafting such engaging twists and turns.
The tension is written extremely well, and I really enjoyed the fantasy elements woven throughout. Overall, if you’re a dark fantasy lover and are comfortable with the content warnings that come with the genre, I think you’ll love this book.
This was an ARC read & I am so happy I picked it. I really loved this book. Honestly it was a 5 star vibe read. The spice was spicing but the plot was good I would say 3.5 star. Our MMC is definitely the morally grey, possessive, I’ll kill anyone who looks your way type. Our FMC is the hottest in the room loner that steals his heart. Trigger warnings include forced proximity, sexual assault, violence. I want this to be spoiler free but pick it up & enjoy it. It gets right too it. Not your traditional romantasy as far as world building. It’s more of a modern world there’s cellphones & cars. Every type of fantasy creature is mentioned lol vampire, wolves, fae etc. but I would definitely say this is more of a romance like on the lines of those mafia romances idk if there’s been a subcategory title made for those but it gives one of those with an other world (fantasy) twist.
4.5 ⭐ I loved this book so much. It put me through so many emotions, made me yell at the characters like they could hear me, and the MMC, Xavior, was such a baddie. He's just a little obsessive, just a little bit. The only reason it lost half a star, is because I personally find it a bit icky when modern technology is used by fantasy characters, even though there were humans in the book as well. The FMC, Amara, was a baddie too. I love that shes stubborn and it clashes with Xavior's possesiveness and pushiness. I ate this book up in one day and it was delicious. The tropes were chef's kiss, and Amara and Xavior's chemistry on all levels was amazing. Xavior is another bbf to add to my list.
The push and pull between the FMC and MMC literally grabs ahold of you and does not let you go from the moment they lay eyes on eachother until the last words in this book!! Their dynamic relationship is absolutely electric and eloquently written!! I was not expecting some of the moments to happen how they did and I was on the edge of my seat gasping as they unfolded. This book truly captivated me from the very moment it began until it ended. All of the characters were beautiful written and the storyline was absolute perfection. The spice level was out of this world hot 🥵 and I loved every moment of it. What a stellar dark fantasy ride I was taken on 💙 10/10 recommend everyone read this
This book ran me through all the feels. From the fight for freedom, the exhilaration of being chased - of being chosen to the betrayal of losing it all. The twists and turns this book takes you on will definitely ruin you, save you and bring you to all ends of the emotional spectrum. The story of Xavior and Amara is the kind of love you want to fight for - but like all shadows daddy MMC - he will burn the world to the ground for her - regardless if your friend, family or foe and that is the hottest thing ever - except when he protects her with his life - THAT is the most panty dropping thing ever.
I just finished reading the arc of *Ruin Me, Little Vixen* by J.S. Roudgruez, which will be released on February 7th. You should definitely check it out! The story revolves around Xavier and Amara, who are irresistibly drawn to each other. The tension escalates when Xavier must choose between saving Amara or his brother, Axel. Their chemistry is intense, and their banter is fantastic. I give it five stars! You won’t be disappointed with this book or any of her others.
ARC read This book was amazing and everything I could have wanted in a dark romantasy. I love reading dark romance and romantasy but this was my first book that combined the two genres and it was amazing. I absolutely loved the story line and the character development. We love a shadow daddy and Xavior is definitely my newest book boyfriend. Can not stop thinking about him!! Also Amara is a badass and loved her so much!! Can't wait to read all of J.S. Rodriguez books!!
I really loved this book. The book is Dark, the MMC is really messed up, with a posessiveness that is really scary. I loved the way the main characters can't live without eachother despite the everything that happens in the story.
This book has everything. Messed up characters, plot twists, love and a good dose of tension.

This book was so dark but so beautiful. Xavior was supposed to hunt her down and unalive her but instead she became his biggest obsession. Pretty little vixen is full of everything you can imagine, witches, wolves, warlocks, shadow wielders. It’s full of betrayal, enemies to lovers, fated mates. I read through it pretty fast it keep my attention from start to finish. It even made me cry a little.
This book went on forever in the best way. There were several points that it could have ended and been any normal romantasy book. Instead it had every twist and trope I needed to make it absolutely complete. I still want more of Amara and Xavior and everyone else in their world.
