Jane O'Reilly was born in the north of England, where it was quite cold, and spent much of her childhood huddled under the duvet with a book. It's also how she's spent much of her adulthood. She also likes Captain America, handknit socks, and biscuits. Find her at www.janeoreilly.com
This was a quick and easy read that doesn't really take away too much attention but keeps readers interested. It is perfect for a mind cleanser like when between two series's to wipe the mind clean before starting another one.
The main character is Jules, a girl just out of an abusive relationship and going back to see a friend from university who is now the owner of an exclusive 'anything you desire' club. There she reignites her relationship with her friend and gets to know him in an intimate nature through the club.
The secondary characters are Theo and John, Theo is the friend from university who invites Jules to stay with him while she gets back on her feet. John is his business partner and friend who also becomes a friend to Jules as she goes through some trying times.
The storyline is not the most original but the two males and one female part of the story made it a bit more fun to read. The pacing is good for a book so short, a nice easy read, 4 stars
I actually almost rated this one a 3 Star. It was one that I liked but didn’t love. It had the erotic elements I liked, but not enough time to really enjoy the scenes. This is one of those stories that you wish was just a little bit longer so the character development would be more believable. Theo was a good character. I found him interesting and pretty high on the hotness scale. Jules is actually the thing that brought this down to a 2 star rating. How this supposed smart woman couldn’t figure out what I as a reader figured out right away was unbelievable.
Dirty Secrets is a sexy novella with great characters, steamy scenes, a fantastic twist and a good storyline to back this all up. When I read the blurb for this book, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I wasn't sure how much emotion or romance there would be, as it sounded like pure erotica. There are some seriously steamy scenes, but there is a lot more to this novella than just sex. Dirty Secrets is the first book I've read by Jane O'Reilly, but it definitely won't be my last as I really enjoyed her writing style.
Dirty Secrets is told from Jules' first person point of view. Sometimes first person POV's can seem stilted, but it really worked in this book, with the story flowing well.
Jules has just split from her boyfriend, and is struggling to cope. Her ex was mentally abusive and has done a real number on her confidence. When she needs somewhere to escape to she turns to Theo who she hasn't seen for ten years. Theo runs an exclusive club that provides members with their ultimate fantasies.
Theo gives Jules a thirty day membership so she can explore her desires and find herself again. Thanks to her ex she has lost confidence in her looks and completely lost her self worth. Throughout this book Jules grows as a person, mainly thanks to Theo showing her that she is desirable and worthy of love and affection. Both characters are really likable. Theo is so sweet - sexy, sophisticated and kind - he really cares for Jules and is determined to help her.
I don't want to give to much away, but there is a twist near the end that I absolutely loved. It is an interesting story with deep emotions and love between the main characters.
Dirty secrets is a fun, sexy, well written novella that I would definitely recommend. Dirty Secrets gets four out of five stars.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A short read in on sitting read. But this book could be made so much more. We could investigate the back story of both Jules and Theo.
What we do get is rather delicious and Jules definitely get more than she bargains for. The sex is well described and not too kinky. This book is about a woman finding a place where she can explore her own sexuality without fear of recrimination and in so doing finds her perfect relationship.
The identity of her ‘dream’ lover was pretty obvious though. There were a couple of twists when it came to dealing with the perfect relationship but again this was fairly obvious. These characters present so much potential yet some of they just get fleeting treatment.
As said at the start of this review this reader, in particular, would love to see this novella developed into a full length novel so that more time is given to develop the characters and reveal their history and how they came to be where they were at the point of this story. I would also have loved to learn more about this relationship and how it developed.
Delicious but too short.
Full Disclosure: ARC received from Netgalley for an honest review.
A childhood friend becomes something more when she comes to him for help. Without being a spoiler this was a great read that I enjoyed. Fast paced quick read that some parts were expected while others (like the recap of Jule's friends from Dirty Talk... This is a standalone but I do recommend reading Dirty Talk as well...)
Overall a 4 star erotic romance (Heavy on the erotic with fantasies being fulfilled...)
The ending is an HFN ... I would like a revisit and see what happens next...
I really enjoyed this one. I liked everything that Jules had to overcome and I liked that she was finally able to see that the problem wasn't with her. I LOVED that it took place in London. To be honest, the only thing missing was Theo's point of view. I could see the James situation coming a mile away, and I knew right away that Theo was her "stranger," but I would have loved nothing more than to get a glimpse of the whole thing from Theo's eyes. Pretty good novella.

Smoking hot little novella, but also so much more. Watching Jules get her confidence was was so great, and sometimes heartbreaking. And the twist toward the end? Aww yeah. This packs a lot of punch for such a short story.
So good! I just wish it had been longer. Jules, Theo and then John complement each other so well. They fit and make each other feel good. Watching Jules rediscover who she is, gain back some of her confidence, was so satisfying. Can I have a Theo and John too?
When you’re trying to mend a broken heart, who do you turn to? A good friend.
And in Jules’s case, she turns to Theo, a childhood pal who offers her a comforting hug, an understanding ear, and a place to lick her wounds while he licks her.
Wait. What? That doesn’t sound right. Let’s try that again.
Jules turns to Theo, a childhood friend who offers her a place where she can take a relaxing hot shower, eat a delicious meal, and find succor while he sucks her.
Wait. What? That sounds all kinds of wrong. Doubly wrong. But in Mistress Weena’s Math Class for the Sick and Twisted, two negatives definitely make a positive, so let’s jes’ keep it moving, folks.
Jules turns to Theo who in turn bends her over a desk…what? Are you still worried about Jules? Does she LOOK like she’s complaining?
And, really, the desk is very nice for being located in Theo’s sex club.
What? Did I forget to mention he’s part owner of a sex club? A sex club that he’s just given Jules a 30-day free pass to?
Good Lord, where are my book review manners! I probably left them on that really nice desk, and now they’re all wet and sticky.
Ennyway, Jules’s ex-boyfriend has pummeled her self-esteem to about the size of his teeny peeny, so she broke up with him, fleeing to Theo’s for 30 days to heal her spirit, little knowing that part of her cure will include getting to touch some hot anonymous naked guy (Spirituality is fuckin’ fun!). While he’s tied to a chair (Spirituality haz ropes? Who knew!). Anywhere she wants (Spirituality WANTS me to touch that wang! Really. It told me so. I never lie about wang, man).
Yes, Theo owns a sex club, and he knows that Jules just needs to get her womanly power back and can do so by being in charge of her sexual experiences, kinda like being a CEO and running her inner Board of Directors meeting, only with fewer boring agenda items and a shit-ton more clitoris involved.
So, yeah, naked guy happens, and then the desk happens, and then CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE HAPPENS, and did I just die and go to heaven?!
Not yet I haven’t because we haven’t even gotten to the part where Theo is master-debating in front of Jules WHILE SHE EATS CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE…and BABOOMBABYI’MFOOKINDEAD. Dead. Dead, I tell ya.
But not really because there’s more peen and shopping and meaningful conversations and getting close to each other and menage sex with John, Theo’s fookin’ hot Aussie lover…
What? Did I forgot to mention that Theo’s bi? WTF?! IT MUST BE ALL THE GAT DAMN CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE.
Forgive me. On second thought, don’t waste time forgiving me. Spend those precious seconds downloading O’Reilly’s quick and durrty, durrty lil’ novella. For the cake. Because, really, who cares about dick when there’s cake to be had?
Okay, there’s cake AND a happy ending, so BONUS.
This one will leave you satisfied, satiated, and spiritual (ohhhh, yeah—naked-anonymous-guy-tied-to-a-chair spiritual, might I remind you). Say three Hail Marys and hit that download button now.
This short, sexy little read surprised me – because it’s about a whole lot more than just sex. Shocking, I know! Who’d have thought there’d be room for anything other than kinky shenanigans in an erotic novella, but yet again Jane O’Reilly has proved that it can be done. Here we have Jules, a side character in Dirty Talk, just getting out of a long term relationship and still reeling from the break up. She runs to her old friend, Theo, for help and gets a whole lot more than she bargained for.
But Jules isn’t just heartbroken, she’s seriously hurting. Her ex-boyfriend piled on the psychological abuse, alienating her old friends and turning her into a person she barely recognises. Her confidence is at an all-time low. Luckily for her that Theo’s exclusive club specialises in a woman’s pleasure, seeking to make all her fantasies come true.
This book is as much about Jules regaining her footing and feeling comfortable in her own skin again as it is about fantasies and sex. In truth the sex isn’t all that kinky, and though there’s a little bit of voyeurism at certain moments, there’s nothing too shocking or scandalous. Mostly it’s Jules learning that she can experience pleasure and it doesn’t hurt to ask for what she wants.
In all I really enjoyed it, but as it got closer to the end I was wondering about a certain other character and whether or not he would be drawn into the relationship. I thought not until the last two chapters. I have to admit I felt a little let down by those chapters, because there was so much in them that really needed to be explored in more detail, not just shoved in and glossed over. Everything suddenly goes from one thing to another, and I’d have liked a bit more time to see all parties adjust to the changes.
On the whole this is a great sexy contemporary, dealing with some darker issues but in a well-written way, I just wish it had been a little longer. Nevertheless, I’m becoming a big fan of Jane O’Reilly’s books.

Another enjoyable read from Jane O'Reilly. This one features Jules from Dirty Talk, who I didn't care for at all while I read that book. In this one, I got to know her much better and understood why she acted the way she did before.
Side note: Amy and Phil from Dirty Talk make a brief appearance here, in a nice scene with Jules.
Jules has just broken up with awful Dave. He was emotionally abusive throughout their relationship and is the sole reason for Jules's extremely low self-esteem.
In a bit of impulsiveness, Jules gets back in contact with Theo, who she knew when they were teenagers. But gone is the nerdy boy and in his place is a successful, confident man. Jules ends up staying with Theo to mend her heart post-breakup.
Here's where the book kind of split for me. While I really liked the story, I wanted it to be focused more on Jules and Theo. It takes a turn when John is introduced into the relationship as well. (The book description didn't mention ménage, which doesn't bother me at all but which I hadn't really expected.) At any rate, I wanted to get to know Theo and John better and the action moves so quickly that I didn't get that chance.
Trigger warning that I think is important: there's a scene of domestic violence that I wasn't expecting. It's not gratuitous but it's definitely worth a mention.
One of the things I liked the most about the story is how empowered Jules becomes. She starts out still fighting the lies about herself that Dave had drilled into her head over time. Throughout the book, she gets away from that insecurity and starts believing that she deserves any good thing that she wants. I liked that aspect of the story very much.

Dirty secrets by Jane O'Reilly is a short novella about one woman's search for herself, her esteem and her value as a sexual person.
Jules is coming off a devastating break-up. Her ex has made her feel, little by little, as if she was a weak unattractive woman that no man would want. She changed everything about herself to please him and now, without her ex, she doesn't even know who she is anymore.
With no where to turn, she reaches out to her childhood friend, Theo. But Theo is no longer the teenage nerd she once knew. Theo is a strong, sophisticated businessman. He offers his place for her to stay in and introduces her to his business.
Theo is part owner of a club that services women and their fantasies. He convinces Jules that this is exactly what she needs to get over her ex and what she believes about herself. With fear she agrees and embarks on a thirty day adventure in self discovery.
Jules, in the next thirty days finds out more about the truth of who she is than she may be able to cope with. But not accepting it means going back to a life she no longer wants to live.
Jane O'Reilly explores the issues of self esteem and honesty that plague so many women when they reflect on themselves and uses very well written erotica to do it with. The result is an exciting and hot little book about growth and experimentation as a mentally abused woman begins to rebuild her self-esteem.
This erotic treat is the story of Jules and Theo, friends who haven't seen each other in 10 years. When Jules disastrous relationship ends, she turns to Theo for some rest and relaxation, only finding out when she's with him that he runs a rather unconventional business catering to women's sexual pleasure. When he offers her a 30 day pass, how can she resist...
I loved this story! I expected sexy times obviously and my expectations were well met, with several steamy delicious scenes. I really liked Jules character as she starts out in a bad place and learns to accept that she can't change her past, she can only try to make amends and move on with her future. It was interesting seeing her try to articulate her sexual needs, at first not knowing what she wants but gradually having the courage to give in to her desires. Theo was an enigmatic and sexy hero, giving Jules what she needs and sharing with her his most intimate fantasies as well. There were some little twists and turns to the story that kept it moving well and I enjoyed it thoroughly from beginning to end. This was my first experience reading this author and definitely not my last! 5 steamy stars.
I would like to thank Carina UK for approving me to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Jules needs to escape her old life and decides to visit old friend Theo, but Jules is shocked at the life he now leads and also a little intrigued with his life. Every little bit of the story is around building up Julie's confidence and I found this to be a great part of the story.
As with all Jane's books she provides lots of back ground to the story that make them feel so much more than and erotic read, she is one of the best authors of erotic material I have come across and will be looking out for more of her books.
This is a short read and I wanted it to be a lot longer and I hope that Jane will consider writing longer books in the future. Theo is hot and I would be intrigued by his life as Jules is, I like the idea of being able to follow your fantasy and this book begins with Jules fantasy and then Jane flips it and it becomes about Theo's fantasy. With every encounter Jules became more daring and wouldn'g be good if we could all do this with no consequences?
We would like to thank NetGalley and Carina UK Publishing for providing us with a copy of this book so that we can bring you this review.
Wow talk about a sexy read… this one definitely will get your blood burning. The way the book starts makes my heart hurt for Jules and what she’d been through, but having her time with Theo shows her that she is a better person and deserves better. Theo is kind of sexy and the relationship that he has not only with Jules but his business partner is amazing. I loved that he wasn’t afraid to be himself with Jules once she learns the truth about him. I also loved the fact that Jules accepted Theo for the amazing person that he is.
There is just a small warning that I am going to put in… and its no ones fault but my own is that it does take place in London and the dialect is very British (which threw me off a bit).
I give this book 4 sweet kisses and know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
I'm becoming quiet a fan of Mrs O'Reilly. her books are out there and a bit different but hey everyone loves a change now and then :) Jules used to be a confident young woman until she met the wrong man, he made her feel worthless and it was her own fault, slowly made her change her appearance and lose friends. Jules didn't even realize until one break and too many and she's had enough! no means no and she's not happy with who she's become and she needs to learn who she is again. this leads to Theo and his "club". that's all I'm saying LOL. great writing style this author has a knack of drawing you in and keeping you interested and even though this book was outside of my comfort zone I didn't judge the characters I saw it how Jules did and understood people are who they are.
Dirty Secrets by Jane O’Reilly – B+ The second in her recent erotic novella duology, Dirty Secrets is about Jules, Amy’s (from Dirty Talk) kind-of-former-best friend. Jules has split up with Dave the Dick for the last time. She has escaped to London for a month to try and recover herself. Somehow over the course of their relationship, Jules lost all sense of her self worth, her value and her self esteem. Dave the Dick slowly eroded her confidence in everything. She is finally out and she realises that he’s done a number on her but it is only as she begins to recover that she realises exactly how big of a number he did.
Full review at www.bookcrack.com 5++ smexy, 3.75 Love it or Leave it? Honestly, couldn’t we all use a best friend like Theo? Right?
I read this novella, Jules’s story 1st (out of order), I didn’t know what had happened to her to make her horrible break up occur or just how badly our girl Jules needed/deserved this fantasy to come about! Well, this is Jules’s flight of fantasy and escape; therefore, I managed to get engaged in her story, yet didn’t really connect with her much beyond wanting a HEA for her and the hero. I never really felt connected to the H/h the way I have in all of O’Reilly’s other smexy tales but the erotic angle is very well done.
This is a really quick and easy read. It tells the story of a young woman who has just broken up from her boyfriend and needs a break away. And boy does she find it when she stops with her friend and he allows her to explore her fantasies and future wants with his strictly members only club. The main characters are good and play off well against and with each other. This is the second book I have read by this author and both have been great. I received a copy of this book from the publishers in exchange for an honest review.
I didn’t like this as much as the Indecent trilogy but it still managed to cover a lot of ground as an erotic novella. It touches on verbal and emotional abuse (TW for both of those) and there is a scene near the end with physical abuse (TW). There’s some hints of disordered eating as well. I found the story quite unexpected, all things considered.
