Former military pilot Mia Brandt is on a four-day cruise that can only be described as bachelorette hell. Giggling girls, rhinestone-studded bikini bottoms (ugh), slushy margaritas…and Mia missing the cruise ship's departure at the last port. Now she's stranded on the same island as Tag Johnson—a Navy rescue swimmer who's all ripped abs and sexy hotness…and Mia's unforgettable one-nighter from four years ago!
Tag definitely remembers Mia. Remembers her touch, the searing heat of their chemistry…and how she pulled rank on him in bed. The sexual attraction between them is as fierce as it ever was. But when Tag blurts out that they're engaged—a tiny little lie—their naughty, no-strings secret arrangement is out! And now an even bigger secret has taken its place…

Mia Brandt, ex-military pilot who was injured on a mission, is now retired and trying to adapt to civilian life and figuring everything out one day at a time. She is part of her cousin's bridal party and they are on a island for a quick stopover when they encourage Mia to go hit on this hot guy that they spot working on a boat. Mia approaches him and when he speaks to her she knows the voice immediately. It's none other than Tag Johnson, a Navy rescue swimmer, who Mia once had a one night stand with years earlier. Tag is returning to duty in six weeks so they embark on what is supposed to be only six weeks of fun and that's it.
If you have read the other WICKED books and know how wonderful they are - then you definitely don't want to miss Wicked Secrets.
Also, make sure to read Before He Was Wicked: A Wicked Secrets Prequel which is now free on Amazon. This will show you how Mia and Tag's relationship starts out.
Thoughts: This is the first book I’ve read from the Navy Recue Swimmer Trilogy, but that was not a problem in this case – it was easily read as a stand alone title, with none of lingering feelings of having missed something. With that being said though, there was nothing that really made this book stand out in my mind at the end of the day. It was a good, quick read, but one that was just too easily forgettable for me, especially amidst other books within the same theme/genre.
Okay, but doesn’t stand out enough to make it a favorite read of mine.
Tag and Mia have a chance to reconnect after a chance hook up years ago. Can Mia, a former military pilot, leave her old life behind for her sexy sailor? I enjoyed this story but I was hoping for more of an ending. Does Tag go on tour? Does he stay back?
This was a good contemporary romance by Anne Marsh. It had great characters in Mia and Tag, and the storyline kept my interest. The chemistry between the main characters was great, and the book was fun and entertaining.
Former military pilot Mia Brandt is on a cruise ship with her cousin as part of a bachelorette party. Only a few months out of service, Mia has plenty on her plate and even in her worst nightmare she hasn’t come up against anything like this bachelorette hell. And then at one of their ports, Mia runs into Navy rescue swimmer Tag Johnson – a one night stand she’s never managed to forget. Events get out of hand and soon Mia find herself left behind on the small island with Tag, and in the space of a few short days their secrets begin to grow out of control.
I found this a delightful romp of a story and easily got sucked into Mia and Tag’s chemistry. I particularly loved how they each were very much the take charge type of character and yet they never let it interfere too much with their chemistry or trust. Both of them were used to giving and receiving orders, and in so many ways Mia and Tag were evenly matched I found it a real pleasure to read about them working out how to come together as a team and find the common ground between them.
I found the whole story quite refreshing and modern, and I particularly enjoyed how it didn’t slot into one of the usual romance novel tropes or genres. Mia had some flashbacks from her service – which I found so refreshing and realistic – and Tag initially wasn’t ready to settle down but slowly came to the realization that he wanted the fake engagement between himself and Mia to become the real deal. It was wonderful and I just couldn’t put this book down once it got going.
Fresh and different I thoroughly enjoyed this spicy romance story and I know I’ll enjoy re-reading it again sometime soon.

Mia is on a bachelorettes cruise with her cousin and the gang....They are on a island living out the day when they spot a hunk..well this hunk happens to be a guy that Mia slept with once..Tag...They talk and he has drinks with the girls..than she gets sick and the boat leaves without her.Tag rescues her and they are just as hot for each other as they were the one time they were together...She decides to stay on the island as she finds a house she likes and she has to have a job to get a loan so she works for Tag and his friends..Can they love each other even though he is about to head out on a mission? I liked how it was through Mia's eyes we say PTSD..as it is always through the guys eye...A good book
This is a continuation for the prequel but a few years later. That being said, some of the information in the prequel changed when it got to this book. Now that was interesting!
Taking this book as a stand alone, it was ok. The plot was good and original but it did lack the sizzle of the prequel.the hero and heroine were likable. I liked how spicy the heroine was and how much of a marshmallow the hero was with the animals. The bit with the ring was priceless and could understand why that mission happened.
I'd recommend this book and series. Of I had to pick on one thing it would have been the transparency between this book and the prequel.
Wicked Secrets is the third in Anne Marsh’s Men of Discovery Bay trilogy, about former SEALs who create a rescue dive business on this charming little island off the coast of California.
Tag Johnson is a navy rescue diver. He enjoyed a very hot night with army officer Mia Brandt years ago when they were both on leave, and is pleasantly surprised to see her again on the beach by his workplace.
Anne Marsh does a lovely job with this fake relationship story, and Tag and Mia find a way to turn their friends-with-benefits into something more permanent.
I received my copy of Wicked Secrets from a GoodReads giveaway
When I was little my grandmother used to read Harlequin books during what seemed like her every waking hour. She had an entire room filled with shelf after shelf of Harlequin romances. Every once in a while, I get a little nostalgic for the same thing my grandma used to read, so when I saw the the cover I impulsively clicked on the link to enter the giveaway (the picture of the shirtless man helped convince me!) .
Wicked Secrets is about a former military pilot, Mia, who is now living the civilian life as the result of an explosion during her last tour. While on a Bachelorette Party cruise with her cousin she finds herself face-to-face with Tag, a Navy rescue swimmer that she had one hot night with while both were still enlisted. Soon Mia is stranded on the island and has to rely on Tag and his hospitality.
In the small town resort it is hard to go unnoticed and Mia and Tag are soon rumored to be "engaged", a little lie that helps keep the island matchmakers away and gives Mia an excuse as to why she's staying with Tag. Mia and Tag quickly find that the attraction they shared that one night hasn't subsided, but they are both hiding secrets.
Wicked Secrets is from Harlequin's Blaze line of titles. If you aren't familiar with that let me just tell you, this book (and I assume the rest of the Harlequin Blaze titles) is HOT!!!! This is not my grandma's Harlequin! There really isn't much left to the imagination so if you're offended by graphic intimacy, be forewarned. I found this to be a good balance between the Harlequin romance story that I expected and the sexy, steamy stuff that used to just happen in my imagination. I especially appreciated the fact that Mia was a strong woman who was determining her own course in her life and went after what she wanted.
Mia who was an ex Military Pilot is now retired and trying to get used to civilian life. As part of her cousin's bridal party, they went off on a cruise for some girlie fun. They did a stopover at Discovery Island. When the girls spotted a hot guy working on a boat, they dared Mia to invite him over for drinks. Not one to refuse a dare, Mia approaches the guy and hears his voice, she knew straightaway that he was Tag Johnson, a navy rescuer swimmer with whom she had a hot night with several years ago.
Tag Johnson has not forgotten about Mia especially not after the night they had. And as if they were given a second chance, Mia missed the boat which was to bring her back to the cruise ship and with nothing on her except her phone, she ended up taking Tag's offer to stay with him while she gets her stuffs sorted out.
Because of the nature of their jobs and after her last boyfriend, Mia swore that she isn't marriage or relationship material and so does Tag with his next mission in 6 weeks. However, both are still feeling the strong attraction and maybe they can be satisfied with whatever they can get from each other within these 6 weeks.
This is my first book by this author and I definitely did enjoy this book. It's not just about the romance between Mia and Tag but it's also about healing and working through the issues that each of them have. And I love that no matter how tough one can be physically, there will still be moments of vulnerability and it's shown here as real as it can be. This book is actually part of a series but it can definitely be read as a standalone which I did and I will be checking the other books out.
I was gifted an advance copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Mia Brandt is a former military pilot who, because of PTSD, is now a civilian and is on a four-day bachelorette cruise with her cousin. While on a stopover on an island, in order to try to be "normal" she's encouraged to go hit on a hot guy the rest of the bridal party spots. Turns out the hot guy is Tag Johnson, a Navy rescue swimmer she once had a one night stand with years before. When Tag sees who's interrupting him, he humors her and joins them for a little while. When an unforeseen incident causes Mia miss the ship, she is forced to take Tag up on his offer to help her out. Neither Mia nor Tag are the type to form relationships, but when the explosive heat that had them hooking up the first time proves to still be there, they might just be slowly changing their minds. I really loved this book. I don't read too many contemporary or military books but when I started this book, I found it hard to put it down. I felt that Mia was written in an accurate portrayal of a dominant woman and what she would have had to deal with in the military. I especially liked the scenes that showed she was still suffering from PTSD. Some authors will reference it as a plot point, but then it mysteriously seems to go away. Tag was absolutely lovable. He's one that just can't help rescuing those in need. His attachment to the 4 legged rescues is very sweet.
Discovery Island….a place for fun in the sun?? But Tag Johnson has made this his place to be as a Rescue Recovery swimmer with his friends who run a dive shop on the Island. Tag has one more mission to complete before he fully can retired from the Navy. Tag is a strong character with a weakness for collecting stray animals that get rescued. Mia Brandt is a retired military pilot who is slowly becoming adjusted to the civilian way of life. Only Mia has a problem with Post Traumatic Stress as the after-effects of an IED blast when she was serving . She has nightmares, flashbacks when she hears loud or sudden noises, fear of heights and overpowering headaches. Mia is on a cruise stop at the island with her cousin’s bridal party. Unexpectedly Tag and Mia cross paths. They both remember an one night stand that happened four years prior between them. Then one of Mia’s headaches causes her to miss re-boarding the cruise ship. She is stranded on Discovery Island in just a bikini and shirt. What will happen to her now? The author weaves the past and present together effortlessly for the reader to be able to follow. The characters are real and well developed. I loved the chemistry the main characters shared. Their shenanigans provided out loud laughter at times. Enjoyable book you will want to read. Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.
Hot military personnel in a cool island setting makes Wicked Secrets one splendid read. Then Anne Marsh has put her unique spin on the characters and events that serve to make this Uniformly Hot! Book one of the best in the series.
Mia and Tag switched roles from the average romance in this book. Mia comes across as the tougher of these two lovers. Tag is plenty tough but there is a tender side that makes him so endearing. He rescues in his work and around the island, humans and animals alike. His friends point that out even as he has taken Mia home after she missed her cruise ship sailing. I also appreciate how the plight of female vets is brought to the foreground of this story. Mia has injuries that do not show easily but are still serious and life altering.
This is the third one, there are two more before this concerning Tag’s friends, Cal and Daeg, also set on the island. While purchasing the first two, Wicked Sexy and Wicked Nights, low and behold the prequel to Wicked Secrets is out and free right now. Titled Before He Was Wicked, it is the account the first meeting between Tag and Mia five years earlier. Thank you Anne Marsh. 4.5 stars Copy provided by Net Galley for an honest review.
Wicked Secrets by Anne Marsh is the final book in her Navy Rescue Swimmer Trilogy and it was a perfect ending to this series.
Mia Brandt is now a retired military pilot and slowly becoming accustomed to civilian life once again. She was smart, funny and independent. I enjoyed her attitude toward life and the cruise that she was on at the beginning of the book.
Tag Johnson was a typical Alpha male with such a sweet soft spot. He was definitely swoon worthy and smart. His new life on the island with his friends was exactly what he needed when he left the Navy.
This story moved along smoothly and the dialogue between Mia and Tag was comfortable and relatable. The one night stand that they had enjoyed four years ago still burns bright in their memories and the sparks fly immediately when they meet up again.
I enjoyed seeing the characters from the previous two books again. They really contributed to moving this story along and gave some insights into Tag.
This was defintely a hot, sexy and totally enteraining read.
I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.
It's no doubt when I pick up these lovely books, I'm almost always hooked from the beginning. Give me a fake engagement and, well, you know me, I'm gonna be going absolutely nuts. And this one was a really sweet book!
Mia and Tag have a teeny bit of a rocky start when they run into each other after all these years. When Tag finds Mia stranded on the beach, he brings her back to his place and they rekindle what they had that one night. One thing leads to another and soon there's a little fibbing about the two of them being engaged. Mia goes along with it to help Tag out, but he seems to feel like it could be something more.
Wicked Secrets was a wickedly sweet book. Both Mia and Tag are strong people, but they've been through a lot since they first met, including an incident that happened when Mia was deployed. I loved how Anne Marsh made these characters real--Mia with her PTSD and Tag with his soft spot for animals. I'm absolutely picking up more from this series!
Mia Brandt, former military pilot, is on a cruise with her bride-to-be cousin and the other bridesmaids. They have a layover on Discovery Island. She runs into Tag Johnson, Navy rescue swimmer, who she had a one night stand with four years ago. Now she needs his help. While having issues related to zip lining and her PTSD, Mia misses the cruise ships departure. Sick and without clothes or money, Tag offers her a bed at his house. He's shipping out in six weeks for his last deployment and wants to spend that time with Mia while she figures out what she's going to do with the rest of her life. When the six weeks is over will either of them be able to deal with their individual issues and move on together or will they go their separate ways?
Another FABULOUS Uniformly Hot! book. I love how Anne Marsh wasn't afraid to write about a woman who returns from the war with her own issues of PTSD. I also love how Tag knew exactly what to do to help Mia and was so gentle with her without showing pity towards her. A sensitive subject that this author has dealt with brilliantly. I can't wait for more!
The blurb for the book is accurate. The chemistry between Mia and Tag is scorching hot. They both think they’re just having 6 weeks of fun and games because Tag has to return to duty. Mia had a bad experience with a romance that went bad while she was deployed so she isn’t interested in anything serious with Tag. As time goes on their pretend engagement starts to feel like something more – to both of them.
Tag is a sucker for strays and has a menagerie to prove it. Who couldn’t help but love a hot hero who loves animals? And Mia is a strong, capable heroine who’s suffering the after-effects of an IED blast while she was deployed.
There are plenty of hot, sexy times in this book. If you’ve read the other “Wicked” books by Anne Marsh you won’t want to miss this one. If you haven’t read them, not to worry, this book stands alone and you won’t feel like you’ve missed anything if you read this one first.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
One-Sentence Summary: Military lovers reunite on Discovery Island.
Positives: I liked the set up and the fact that the characters had a history. The cute animals, especially the kittens were definitely a plus as well.
Negatives: It just didn't make sense to me that Mia would just stay on the island like that! What would be more believable for me is if she rejoined the cruise -> Came back for a holiday -> Then decided to buy a house and stay. Also, the relationship between Tag/Mia moved too fast for me, especially considering she had PTSD.
I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review
This book was simply fabulous. Anne Marsh did a great job keeping this light, funny, sexy, romantic; all while touching on a very serious subject. I love that Marsh made both characters so strong but so vulnerable all at the same time.
Mia is on vacation for her best friends bachelorette party. One thing leads to another and some how Mia misses the ship to get her off of the island. With very little funds she has no one to turn to but the sexy hunk Tag and like any good Seal he steps in and saves the day!
Tag Johnson has never forgotten Mia after one incredible night of passion. When he sees her again he cant help but have her again.
After reading this book Anne Marsh is officially added to my authors that I must read list. This is a great book!
Wicked Secrets is a well written story by Anne Marsh. Former military pilot Mia Brant is on a cruise for her cousin's bachelorette party. She is attempting to play the role of the bridesmaid dutifully, but a sudden case of sickness causes her to miss the ship's departure. Now she is stranded on an island with none other than Navy Rescue swimmer, Tag Johnson. Though she has not been able to forget about their first time meeting four years ago, she is not sure she is ready to spend more time with him either. When Tag suddenly announces they are engaged, which is a lie, they both suddenly find themselves treading in unfamiliar waters.
If you haven't read this story, I would recommend reading the prequel, Before He Was Wicked as well. In that, you find how Mia's and Tag's history began! I read them together and really enjoyed the development of the characters.
This is the third book in the Navy Rescue Swimmer Trilogy. I enjoyed the first two books, but everything just came together in this one, and I absolutely loved Wicked Secrets. Honestly, I loved it, loved it, loved it. It was warm, funny, sexy, and the writing was fantastic. This goes on my 2015 Favourite Reads List.
I enjoyed reading the book so much I went back and re-downloaded the first 2 books in the series to keep in my E-Book Library so I can re-read the series.
Although this was originally written as a trilogy, Carla and Sam who were secondary characters in this one warrant books of their own.
Thanks very much Anne Marsh - after a couple of months of so/so reads this one is a keeper!
I've definitely forgotten how much I like Anne Marsh's clever writing in the past 2 Navy Rescuemen books, this is such a sparkling end to what is essentially an adventurous and fun series. Minimal angst, no predictable big daddy/mummy issues that magically results in only wanting one-night stands but just a journey of how 2 people find themselves back to each other after 6 weeks.
Anne Marsh's humour is a standout here, and I grew to love Mia's take-charge attitude and Tag's softness for rescue animals... (That he does loads for helpless kittens pushes him way up in my books) and I'm sure going to miss this very special bunch of characters on Discovery Island.
I received an ARC of Wicked Secrets for an honest review. This is the first book that I have read from this series. Can't wait to go back and experience it from the start. With this story Anne Marsh has created a treasure. Wicked Secrets can make you laugh so hard you want to cry. It can also fill you unexpected emotion. Mia is a former military pilot on a cruise celebrating a cousin's impeding nuptials. She unexpected crosses paths with a one night stand from four years ago. Tag is a Navy rescue swimmer who has never forgotten Mia. When Mia misses her boat and is stranded Tag sees his chance. This hot, entertaining and at time emotional read will leave you begging for more.
Received a copy from Netgalley for my honest review.
Always enjoy military guys, nothing wrong with confidence and gentleman behavior. Tag and Mia met in the prequel story, this is five years later. On a cruise with friends she finds her life suddenly changing. Mia is a civilian now and her life is free. Tag is helping the dive business for a bit before his next tour. Although their moments were great and hot, I wasn't feeling the zing. The way they met was slightly different in the prequel, the time at the bar was not the same. I enjoyed the story and the details, however some chapters seem to be too detailed.
* I received this book free in exchange for an honest review *
"I'm going to make sure you get exactly what you need."
Two people who thought they would never see each other again, end up on the same island. Little do they know, how much they need each other. This was a sexy fun book! I love seeing a big strong man with a soft spot for animals. It was fun seeing other characters I've read about as well!
This is a great sexy book to spend your evening reading.
This is a story that will make you laugh and cry. Mia is a retired pilot suffering from PTSD. Tag is the guy she had a one night stand with a few years ago when she was getting ready to ship out again for another tour overseas. Tag loves to rescues anything: people stranded at sea, women, and most definitely, animals. When she is left behind after the cruise ship sails without her, Tag offers her a place to stay and a place to work. Wonderful story, emotional and was a quick read.
I received this as a first read. I just really like romance like this. I love the military aspect of the book. I also love the hero has a soft side. Also the Heroine is one tough customer. It is just refinishing to see a slight switch of the normal formula for a romance. A great quick romance.
