Rebellion cost Olivia everything she thought she understood about the world—and herself.

Hiding in the aftermath, Olivia retreats to a fragile refuge, carrying scars no one else can see. The girl who once followed orders is gone, replaced by someone sharper, stronger, and far more dangerous. Survival is no longer enough. She needs something to hold on to before she loses herself entirely.

When two small lives arrive at her door—silent, shaken, and left behind—something in Olivia hardens. Love, once her greatest vulnerability, becomes something fierce and unyielding. A line no one crosses without consequence.

The bond she forged in fire refuses to fade, no matter the distance, the secrets, or the cost of keeping it alive.

But starting a fire always demands a price.

As old enemies resurface and new forces close in, Olivia is forced to confront a truth more terrifying than some sacrifices don’t end the war—they ignite the next one.

Because the Department of Guardians is watching.

And this time, they’re coming for her.

Rebel Song by Kelly Parker is a brutal, devastating, and completely unforgettable read.

This story is heart-wrenching from start to finish, filled with emotional depth, shocking twists, and a constant sense that anything could happen

AND probably will.

The stakes feel real, and the presence of villains with no redemption adds a darker, more intense edge to the narrative.

One of my favorite aspects was the found family dynamic. Despite the heartbreak and chaos, these connections grounded the story and made the emotional moments hit even harder. 💔

Kelly Parker’s eloquent storytelling kept me fully immersed. The pacing, the twists, and the emotional tension made this impossible to put down.

I read it in less than 12 hours.

What surprised me MOST?
(I never thought I would say this…)

BOOK BOYFRIENDS EXIST!!!

I walked away feeling connected to these characters in a way I didn’t expect. I’ve never really had “book friends” before, but somehow, through this series, I found a few (yes… even Zade).

Kelly is now firmly on my must-read list, and I cannot recommend this series enough.

Go read it. 🖤📚

This was the kind of book two that doesn’t just continue a story — it tightens its grip around your throat.

I read this deep into the night, exhausted but I couldn’t stop. At one point I had to physically step back because the weight of it was sitting so heavy on my chest. And somehow… that only made me love it more. Kelly Parker has a way of making the pain feel intimate, personal and addictive.

The new characters shattered me in ways I wasn’t prepared for. Some of them carried a softness that felt almost cruel in a world like this — their innocence, their loyalty, their fragile hope. I silently cried more than once. with your chest tight and your heart aching in silence.

And then there were the ones I despised. The ones I wanted gone immediately. Somehow, impossibly, I ended up understanding and loving them. That shift? Profound.

I used to think The Rebel Hearts series was a dystopian romance. It isn’t. It’s about what love costs when the world is brutal. It’s about surviving trauma without letting it hollow you out. It’s about sacrifice that doesn’t feel noble — it feels necessary.

It’s about choosing connection even when it hurts.

This book doesn’t comfort you.
It wounds you.
And then it reminds you why you keep fighting anyway.

If you’re a big sister or big brother… like the one who had to grow up way too fast and take care of everyone else… yeah… this one is gonna mess you up a little 🥺💔
Olivia??? She’s BEEN through it. Like not a single easy moment. And you can feel that in everything she does. But when those two kids come into her life?? 😭 something in her just switches and the way she protects them is not soft, it’s not gentle… it’s like “I will burn the world down for you” type love 🔥🖤
And I swear this book had me in my FEELINGS the whole time 😭 like I felt so bad for these characters, I just wanted to hug them but also watch them destroy anyone who tried them 👀
The action?? SO GOOD 🫣 it keeps you hooked, like I could not put it down. But the emotional damage??? yeah… that’s what really got me 💔
The characters were EVERYTHING, the plot?? top tier 👏 and the way this book just makes you feel??? like actually FEEL?? yeah no… I’m not over it 😭
If you’ve ever been the “I got it, don’t worry” sibling… please read this… but also maybe prepare yourself because it’s gonna hit a little too close to home 🥲📚✨

Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (kissing/making out, a few open door scenes, a few closed door, lots of close proximity, almost 2.5 chili peppers)

I was completely consumed by this! I did a buddy read with a friend and every day our mind’s were blown away!

Olivia absolutely owned it in this book! Her growth, her strength, and the way she loves (not soft nor gentle) is fierce, protective, and borderline feral in the best way.

Rowan loving Olivia no matter what just made me swoon. The “I will burn the world down for you” kind of love hits hard!

Tropes/themes:
Touch her and 💀
Touch him and 💀
Forced proximity
Protector
Dark secrets
Betrayal
Revenge

This isn’t just a dystopian romance… it’s about survival, sacrifice, and choosing love even when it costs you everything. This is book 2 in the Rebel Heart series, so you must read Rebel Heart first!

Do you know what Rebel heart is?
"It means you have fire in your heart. It means you will grow up and help people one day. It means that you are strong and you will fight for the people you love." -Rowan, Chapter 8

Rebellion cost Olivia everything: comfort, structure, what she thought she knew about the world. Having escaped to Region X and found community in the safe house, her world grows larger when two young boys arrive. The stakes are only getting higher.

Reviews for sequels are always a little challenging, but my aim is to keep this spoiler free. You have characters you loved in Revel Heart, characters you hated, and new characters to love and hate here. Kelly has built upon this dystopian world, even though much of the action takes place in one location. Rebel Song made me paranoid; I was waiting for the Department to do all sorts of nefarious things (and some of those things did happen). Listen, I thought I would make it to the end tear-free, but no, the last line absolutely gutted me on the way out the door😭 Looking forward to the continuation of this story.

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️/5

Thank you to Kelly Parker for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. This book will be published on 5/16/26.

If you’re searching for a female main character who bleeds strength and still somehow breaks your heart wide open, this series will own you. She is relentless in the face of everything life throws at her, carrying pain, love, and responsibility on her shoulders without ever backing down. And yet, beneath all that power, there’s a softness… a vulnerability that sneaks up on you and hits deeper than you expect.
She doesn’t just fight for survival, she fights for the people she loves with a devotion so fierce it aches. Every sacrifice, every choice, every moment feels heavy in the most beautiful, devastating way. You don’t just read her story… you feel it, piece by piece, until it settles somewhere inside you and refuses to leave.
And now… I’m still sitting here, staring at the wall, emotionally compromised and desperately needing book three like oxygen.

This story belongs to the kids who grew up too fast, the ones who learned what love is because they first learned what survival meant. - I mean if that acknowledgment doesn’t suck you right in… what will?
Kelly went straight for the heart with this book. You get introduced to Finn & Lynk, and they make you fall in love with their characters so fast. Seeing Olivia & Rowan take those two in & become “mama & daddy” makes your heart melt.
But don’t let your guard down, because we all know Kelly loves to rip that sense of security right out from under us. The things that Olivia goes through in this book are tough. She has to find peace with what she had to do to find Rowan again, and then gets put through hell at the hands of Calix.
And that cliffy… yep. I need the next book ASAP! Because I have to know what is next.

Holy Mother of everything! Talk about emotional damage! Kelly!! girl, I am not ok.

If you haven’t read Rebel Heart, you need to asap, it’s not an option!!! It’s so good and then you’re gonna want to pick up this book, and you will be wrecked some good ways, some not so good, but holy goodness, the words that are written in these books are so good!

I absolutely love a book that just completely wrecks me and this series does not disappoint! I need more like NOW! Lol I am so invested in Olivia and Rowan’s story that I may never recover. She even makes you fall in love with all of the side characters, who let’s face it are also part of the main characters!

I recommend everybody and their neighbor to read all of Kelly’s books. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors!

OMG! Rebel Song broke me, put me back together and broke me again. Olivia became a badass during Rebel Heart, but she has become even more vicious, feral, loving and absolutely amazing!! The deep love that ignites her flaming rebel heart is truly inspiring and makes me wonder if that is what motherhood really feels like.

I enjoyed watching her character arc grow through this series. From being someone that doesn’t fit in, who is passive and just takes what is done to her. To a badass that is willingly sacrificing all parts of herself to keep her found family safe.

The love, heartbreak, loyalty, and betrayal in this book kept me guessing, laughing, and sobbing. Shock and mind blowing twists and turns had me eating this up and hanging on every word. I NEED the next one SOON!!!

This is book two in the series and it did not disappoint. Kelly Parker knows how to write a story that keeps you engaged and all the emotions I love when reading.

This story continues on the struggles and fight that Olivia and Rowen deal with to survive everyday, along side their friends and family. It is a love story of epic proportions, sacrifice, determination and survival. This story has vibes that remind me of the movie Insurgent. This story ripped out my heart, had me bawling and sick to my stomach at times. I was truly locked in and couldn’t hardly put it down, but the end has me wanting so much more.

If you love a strong, badass heroine whose love knows no bounds and a man who would burn the world down for her then this is your story!

I would give this more stars if I could!

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly! This is how you continue a series! This book is a gut wrenching, heart pounding, emotional roller coaster that keeps you engaged from start to finish. Of course the main characters from book one are back, but Kelly has this amazing ability to make you feel deeply for the side characters. You love them, hate them, love to hate them. I’ve never seen another author be able to illicit that kind of emotion. Prepare to be up late into the night reading because you just can’t bear the thought of putting it down.

I see what you did there, you tried to make us cry with those babies. I love that Olivia and Rowan stood up and took them in. The things that Olivia goes through in this book are very hard, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
This story just gets deeper with every book.

All. Of. The. Stars.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I cried. Then I laughed. Then my heart melted. Then I wanted to throw my phone. Then I wanted to cry again. Then my feelings got hurt.

All of the freaking emotions were happening. All of them.

The characters and the way you love (or loathe) them all is honestly impressive. This book makes you feel what fictional characters are feeling, and either love them or loathe them.

What do you know?

I know I love Kelly Parker and these characters and I need more.
