Katarina’s world spun out of control and she was left alone. Can she avoid disaster again by holding on or is it time to let go? And if she does, who of her lovers will finally master her? **** Katarina Galchinsky is alone. And that was not how she had planned her life. At almost 40, she has a brilliant career, an expensive loft, and a beloved husband—who was stolen from her by the Iraqi War. Alone for almost ten years, Kat has controlled everything affecting her career as a partner in a top law firm, her family and her heart, so nothing bad can happen to her again. A seemingly platonic, but satisfying relationship with her old law school buddy, Zachary, as well as a few close friends, have been all she’s needed. Until now.
Sam, a controlling lawyer, begins Kat on her journey of submission—in the bedroom. Rick, a screenwriter and an Army vet introduces her to light bondage and more rough play at his beach house on the Jersey shore. Bradley is a brilliant yet wounded businessman who introduces a plethora of sex accessories, in a church.
Will Kat find what she’s looking for in the arms of one of her lovers, or in the place she least expected?
Katarina: Out of Control is my first erotic romance novel for Turquoise Morning Press. It is part of the Dark Love: Nothing Grey About It boxed set. Katarina is a 40 year-old lawyer living in Troy, NY. She is focused on her job and her large Jewish family. She believes she has nothing else in her life since the death of her beloved husband Michael in Iraq ten years ago. While meeting with a local attorney on a case, Katarina feels a spark when he touches her arm, when he focuses his dark and sexy smile on her. When the case concludes, Sam draws her into his world of erotic sex...and control. Katarina, who has sought to control her life in a vain attempt to keep any other terrible loss away, succumbs to Sam's passion and domination. But, their liaison is short-lived. Alone again, Katarina misses the release she felt in the arms of a strong man. Fortunately, Rick, a former soldier with his own demons, takes her in hand and leads her further down the path of bondage and domination. Sadly, Rick leaves just as Kat is beginning to truly submit to him. Searching for a lover who will demand that she give in to passion and control, Katarina unexpectedly finds Brad. A true Dom, Brad tests all of Kat's limits. But, is he the one who will finally satisfy Kat's curiosity and need to be controlled? Maybe what Kat wants and needs is not another lover but a man who has known and loved her for years. Katarina is an erotic contemporary romance that explores the world of BDSM through the eyes of a mature woman who is seeking lust, not love; a woman who wants to give up control to a man who will just let her feel again after so many years alone. What Katarina discovers may bring her even more, maybe even love.
Wow! Out of Control Kat's Story was so so good. Can not believe it was one of this author's earliest romances. It is so beautifully written with such mature dialogue. The love scenes really held my attention. Absolutely loved it. Kat Galchinsky almost 40 is mourning her husband who was taken from her in the Iraqi War almost ten years ago. She has controlled everything in her life, her career, family, and her heart so as not to be hurt again. She is ready to let go of some of that control but will she finds what she seeks in a controlling lawyer, a Marine Vet, or a wounded businessman, or someone else? This is not the first book I have read by this amazing author and certainly will not be the last.
There's an author's note at the end of this book that states that this is her first erotic romance, and it shows. The premise is okay, about a young war widow who experiences a sexual and emotional awakening after the years of grieving and celibacy. But not only is the dialogue extremely stiff, the whole thing goes off the rails at some point and feels like the author tried to cram too many different stories into one book. Not one I'd care to revisit.
I liked the realism of Kat’s exploration of her sexuality. It is a romance but reflects a realistic sense of a woman who is searching for a new aspect of pain and pleasure in her enjoyment. Nothing demeaning and everything empowered.
