I consider myself to have approximately average financial knowledge, and I was looking for something to enhance that. In particular, I was looking for "recipes" to combine financial and investing techniques to enhance returns. Despite the title and stated premise of the book, there are none here. Although it's a nice idea if it had been carried out with more effort and thought, the cooking analogy is stretched to the breaking point, and instead ends up being filler/padding rather than a driving force in the book.
As I said, I am no financial wizard, but I do have somewhat of a clue about money and basic money management, and I've been using all of the techniques in this book for years just through common sense. If you're looking for something to expand your financial horizons, this may not be a terrible place to start if you have no knowledge of basic financial matters (it's definitely an easy, non-technical read--possibly too non-technical), but if you do, you can safely skip this one.
