Linley is a young noble of a declining clan. He has large aspirations and wants to save his clan. Linley's journey begins with an accident when he discovers a ring. He took a liking to this ring with a dragon coiling around its entirety. Upon being injured during a battle between two powerful fighters he discovers that his ring is not what he thought it was and possesses powers beyond his imagination.
I'm glad I've made it back to this series. The third volume felt a bit boring because most of it was fighting. This volume now goes in a completely different direction, in fact about 3/4 of it are a first-love-relationship love story, which is something I really didn't think I would see in Coiling Dragon. It was executed nice, it had a great ending and led to one of the most understandable power-ups in all asian media I've consumed so far. The end was also a nice one, the titleof this volumes becomes relevant only in the last few chapters, but it comes with a bang.
Reading this almost right after finishing World of Cultivation is a interesting kind of disappointment. I know I can't expect all long series to be as good as each other, and I've been trying to keep an open mind, but comparisons can't help being made, and this series falls short so far. I honestly don't hate this series or anything. I just want to once again have that deep mental and emotional connection to what I'm reading, which this book isn't giving me.
Linley has barely any personality. He still seems very much like a blank page with a few random strokes on it. What does he like? What does he hate? What is the smallest thing that would irritate him? I got nothing. I'm sure it will get better once he and the readers explore more of the world and its political situation and grand stage, but I just have no interest in Linley as a character, which is a great blow. I usually love me some romance, but not in this case. It felt awkward and abrupt. Actually it's the reason why I will drop this series from this point. All his relationships feel shallow because there's not enough deep interaction between him and others. Also, Linley's personality isn't really formed yet so how can others truly know him to form a bond, anyway? More of a meta question there.
Everything seems too easy for Linley. Once he earned all the money I felt so, so sorry for my poor "Scalping Zombie" Zuo Mo. lol I think the basis of this series has decent potential, but I don't have enough patience to wait for it to get better after trying out 80 chapters. I'll keep looking.
Fantastic. A must-read for any fan of the genre. Without a doubt one of the best series I've ever read and fully deserving of all the praise and recognition it gets.
Simply amazing, I actually cried when it finished... I hope that maybe a continuation will be made but this was the best novel I have ever read, thank you.
Nice book series by Wo Chi Xi Hong Shi i've read the translated versions of each, and believe me i've read this one over 3-4 times ,at the end ot the series(specifically last one) it went fast but nevertheless a good read .
This is my genre. A story about Linley, a descendant of Baruch Clan, one of 4 Divine Beast clans from Yulan continent. Story about a genius boy from his boyhood till (up to now he is almost 1000 y.o). A really awesome novel because it encompasses many things, murder, revenge, love, friendship, paternal love, mystery, self-improvement, etc. There are 21 book available and it have been translated up to 17th, Indigo Prefecture.
The romance part was a bit meh, but the story is progressing so it's still acceptable. I can't wait to see how strong Linley will be after he come back to the academy.
