What I loved most about this book was how utterly real it felt. No dramatic, larger-than-life heroes swooping in to save the day, just two wounded people doing their best to survive in a world that’s taught them to depend on no one but themselves. That grounded, raw honesty gave the entire story so much heart. Dawson has built his life around routine, hard work, and the steady rhythm of his ranch. He trains horses with a firm yet gentle hand, understanding their moods and tells far better than he understands people. His world is quiet. Controlled. Predictable. So, when a friend calls in a favor and asks him to let a young woman train on his ranch and borrow one of his horses, he agrees, but not without reluctance. And then Lilah arrives. She’s not the shy, fragile heroine you might expect. From the moment she steps onto the ranch, she radiates confidence. She walks like she belongs wherever she is and speaks with an easy warmth that draws people in. She’s comfortable in her own skin in a way that feels refreshing and powerful. Dawson takes one look at her and knows deep down that the careful, orderly life he’s built is about to be shaken to its foundations. I adored the way he scrambles to maintain some semblance of control, insisting that if Lilah is going to use his horses, she’ll do it his way. It’s a little bossy, a little territorial and completely transparent. Lilah, of course, is more than capable of holding her own. And while Dawson might think he’s setting the rules, it’s clear from the start that she isn’t intimidated. The chemistry between them simmers beautifully. Dawson can’t seem to stay away when Lilah is training, especially when she’s practicing her trick riding. Watching her push her limits ties him in knots, though he can’t quite admit why. That tension, his quiet, internal unraveling, was one of my favorite parts of the story. And then she falls. Everything shifts in that moment. Although she’s taken more than a tumble or two before, the emotional temperature changes. The walls Dawson has worked so hard to maintain start cracking in earnest. His internal conflict is so compelling. He’s wrestling with the age gap, with the knowledge that Lilah isn’t planning to stay, with the fear of wanting something he thinks he shouldn’t have. He keeps telling himself she’s too young, that this is temporary, that he needs to keep his distance… and yet he simply can’t. Lilah, on the other hand, is far more honest with herself about what she’s feeling. She senses Dawson’s hesitation, even as their connection deepens. With trouble brewing for his ranch and a major rodeo deal hanging in the balance, Dawson lets himself get distracted and risks losing her altogether. The big question becomes: can he fix what he’s broken before it’s too late? And let me just say… you’ll love what he does to win her back. If you love emotionally layered romances with strong heroines, broody-but-soft-inside cowboys, delicious tension, and a payoff that feels truly earned, this one absolutely delivers.

If you love a cowboy who swears he doesn’t need anyone—until the exact right woman walks straight into his carefully controlled world—then February’s Cowboy Dawson by Eve London is going to steal your heart and set it racing.

Dawson is the definition of gruff, focused, and emotionally locked down. He lives alone on his ranch, pouring everything he has into training horses and preparing for the rodeo coming to town. He doesn’t do distractions. He doesn’t let people in. And he absolutely doesn’t cross lines.

Then Lilah Martinez shows up.

She’s sunshine wrapped in curves. A trick rider with grit in her spine and fire in her smile. After a bad contract costs her sponsorship—and her beloved horse—she needs temporary access to Dawson’s ranch to train. What starts as a professional arrangement quickly turns into something far more dangerous.

Because Lilah isn’t intimidated by Dawson’s walls.

She presses every button he tries to pretend doesn’t exist.

The age gap adds a sharp edge to every interaction—every glance lingers longer than it should, every quiet moment feels charged. Dawson has spent years staying in control, but Lilah makes him want to let go. And watching him wrestle with that desire is absolutely delicious.

But this story isn’t just heat (though the chemistry is definitely there). It’s about trust. About scars. About what happens when two people carrying different kinds of wounds find common ground in hard work and undeniable attraction. Lilah may be sunshine, but she’s no pushover. She’s determined, resilient, and fighting to rebuild her career on her own terms. And Dawson? He may be grumpy and guarded, but when he finally chooses her, he chooses hard.

There’s also a thread of mystery running through the story that keeps the pages turning. Secrets need uncovering before everything can fall into place, and that added tension gives the romance even more depth.

The Cowboys of Mustang Mountain aren’t polished heroes. They carry regrets and reputations that haven’t quite faded. They fix fences by day and battle their own demons by night. And Dawson fits that mold perfectly—until Lilah refuses to let him hide behind it.

If you love:

Grumpy/sunshine dynamics

Age gap romance

Rodeo and ranch settings

Steamy chemistry with emotional payoff

Strong heroines who push back

Then saddle up.

Because sometimes the toughest cowboy isn’t the one who never falls.

It’s the one brave enough to finally let himself.

He built walls. She rode straight through them.

Dawson builds his life on control. He trains horses, keeps his head down, and avoids anything that could fracture the stability he fought to reclaim after loss. The ranch is his responsibility, his redemption, and his shield. Desire is a distraction he doesn’t allow. Then Lilah shows up at his gate, all confidence and curves, fighting her way out of a contract that nearly wrecked her career. She needs his horses. He tells himself it’s just business, just a temporary arrangement. But the way she looks at him, steady and unafraid, makes control feel thinner than he’d like.

Forced proximity turns tension into something hotter and harder to ignore. Every ride, every challenge, every brush of skin in the barn leaves them both a little too aware. The age gap should be reason enough to walk away, but restraint only sharpens the pull between them. When trouble tied to the ranch threatens the future he’s spent years building, keeping his distance stops being safe. Wanting her means risking everything he’s tried to protect.

Lilah starts out fiercely self reliant and emotionally guarded, determined to rebuild her career without leaning on anyone, and grows into a woman who chooses love without shrinking her ambition. Dawson begins controlled and protective to the point of distance, then learns that real strength means risking vulnerability and public commitment. Their relationship evolves from sharp edged attraction into deliberate intimacy, where sex breaks down defenses and partnership replaces protection.

This is a hot, emotionally intense small town cowboy romance about two independent people who’ve mastered survival on their own, then decide love is worth the risk. It’s about integrity, growth, and choosing each other without losing themselves.

The Elevator Pitch: A disciplined rancher who lives by control finds his carefully ordered world disrupted by a fearless trick rider fighting to reclaim her future. What begins as a temporary arrangement ignites into a high heat connection that challenges pride, exposes old wounds, and forces them both to choose between safety and something deeper. In a town built on legacy and reputation, love demands more than desire, it demands the courage to stand side by side when walking away would be easier.

If you love a good grumpy-sunshine romance with genuine emotional pull, February's Cowboy Dawson by Eve London delivers exactly that kind of slow-burn tension that sneaks up on you.

Dawson is the kind of hero who speaks more through actions than words — guarded, controlled, and determined to keep his world small and predictable. His life revolves around work, routine, and staying emotionally locked down. Then Lilah arrives like a burst of color in an otherwise quiet landscape, and the shift in his carefully ordered world is impossible to ignore.

Lilah is such a refreshing heroine. She’s confident, resilient, and chasing her own freedom while dealing with real struggles. Her warmth never feels forced — she’s strong without losing her softness, and she challenges Dawson in ways that feel natural rather than dramatic. Their dynamic is built on sharp tension, quiet moments, and that constant push-and-pull between restraint and undeniable attraction.

What stood out most to me was how the story balances heat with heart. Yes, the chemistry is intense, but the emotional journey — watching two people slowly lower their defenses and choose vulnerability — is what gives the romance its weight. The age gap and personality differences add tension without overwhelming the story, making their connection feel both complicated and believable.

The ranch setting and small-town atmosphere add a grounded backdrop that complements the characters’ personal struggles and growth. It’s a quick read, but it still manages to deliver meaningful character development alongside the romance.

Overall, this is a satisfying mix of swoony tension, emotional depth, and fiery attraction — perfect for readers who enjoy guarded heroes, determined heroines, and love stories where breaking down walls feels just as important as falling in love.

Dawson and Lilah’s story is a tad angsty, definitely spicy and thoroughly enjoyable. The setting is Mustang Mountain, a small town where everyone knows each other and their business, most especially Ruby, matchmaker extraordinaire. She is the one who arranges Lilah’s stay at Dawson‘s Ranch. Dawson is determined to keep the curvy and beautiful Lilah at a distance, and lays down a set of rules to Lilah they are meant to do just that. Does it work? Not so much. Dawson is unable to resist watching her while she trains the horses to do her tricks. He finds her to be fearless, hard-working and dangerous to his heart. It stops while he watches her perform her dangerous tricks on the back of his horses. It beats double time when she is near and a stolen kiss spurs, a few fantasies. No matter how many times he tells himself that she is too young and that she is leaving, Dawson can’t seem to stay away from her. When he makes a discovery that puts the upcoming rodeo and even his ranch in jeopardy, it is Lilah who calms him down, listens to him, and offers her silent support. He trusts her, something that comes hard for him. When their relationship takes a moreintimate turn, both of them become aware that they have fallen for the other. He hasn’t asked her to stay and she hasn’t offered. Both are afraid to rock the boat, and Dawson gets lost in the trouble brewing with the rodeo and his ranch. Of course Ruby knows exactly what’s going on and she makes it her business to prod Dawson into action before he loses the woman who has claimed his heart.

Dawson and Lilah are, as the author puts it, “ two people who’d stopped bracing for goodbye and started walking forward instead. And for now, that was everything.”
These wonderful, stubborn characters and their story captivated me and made me smile.

**Let's Fly!**

"February’s Cowboy Dawson" is the second book in the "Cowboys of Mustang Mountain" series. After both his parents passed away, Dawson ended his rodeo career to return home and run the family ranch. He has built walls around himself, convincing himself that he doesn't need love or anyone else. While working with his best friend to get a rodeo up and running, everything changes when Lilah, a talented trick rider, arrives looking for temporary lodging at Dawson's ranch and a space to train.

No matter how hard Dawson tries to stay away from Lilah, their attraction and connection prove to be too strong to resist. What was supposed to be a temporary arrangement becomes complicated as Dawson finds Lilah slowly breaking down his defenses. However, just as things begin to unfold, Lilah receives an amazing job opportunity in another state and is packing to leave.

Eve has once again introduced a fantastic couple, Dawson and Lilah, who embody the classic romantic tropes of a grumpy sunshine, an age gap, and a protective alpha cowboy. The narrative is further enhanced by the mystery and suspense surrounding this year's rodeo. I can't wait to see who the next cowboy will be and to learn more about the intrigue surrounding the rodeo!

Thawing the Heart of the Grouch -
This story is set on a ranch in the middle of the Colorado mountains where a grumpy cowboy who had closed his heart off to love is forced to work with a feisty confident hard working young woman. The tension between Dawson and Lilah was evident from the moment they met, but spending time together getting to know each other better, seemed to mellow the pressures and changed the dynamics of their relationship.

Unfortunately, Dawson’s anxiety and hesitation to acknowledge his growing attraction for Lilah, nearly cost them a chance at exploring the potential of a future together. However, Dawson discovered information that made him finally realised he needed to act swiftly or lose Lilah, so he did everything possible to make her aware of his feelings. Luckily, Dawson and Lilah got to have the happily ever after they deserved.

This book a nice easy read, that can help you relax and wind down from a hectic day. From the moment I started reading this book, I couldn’t stop until I reached the end. This captivating story definitely didn’t fail my expectations and has left me looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

February's Cowboy Dawson by Eve London is the second title in the Cowboys of Mustang Mountain series and as a small town, age gap, mountain man, cowboy romance it delivers a good read.
The story is ideal for an afternoon curled up on the sofa and had me hooked pretty quickly.
Both main characters were engaging with older, grumpy, cowboy rancher Dawson, and Lilah, curvy, younger, and a trick rider in need of a temporary placement with access to horses for training.
The town mayor's wife Ruby has persuaded Dawson to let Lilah stay with him and from the outset both feel an instant attraction towards each other despite Dawson's grumpiness and rules.
Lilah's talent, determination and confidence impresses Dawson and their chemistry sizzles in spite of Dawson's worry over the age difference and issues rising regarding the upcoming town rodeo.
They both have insecurities and past's to navigate if what they have is real and they want to grow what they have, but with some steamy and spicy scenes and heart warming moments together, I was quickly turning the pages to see how their HEA comes about.

February’s Cowboy Dawson by Eve London is book two in the Cowboys of Mustang Mountain series, and it’s another delightful addition to this monthly novella collection.
I’ll admit, even though I love Eve’s books, I’m a little late to the game and haven’t read book one yet. That said, these novellas are perfect little romance pick-me-ups—easy to read, engaging, and incredibly enjoyable.
Dawson is content living life on his own terms, somewhat isolated on his ranch, when Lilah comes along and turns everything upside down. Nicknamed “trouble” by Dawson, she’s an absolute firecracker—but she also carries emotional depth and a bit of history that adds layers to her character.
Watching Dawson and Lilah grow individually and together was such a pleasure. Their journey of healing, learning, and ultimately falling in love is beautifully written and heartwarming.
If you’re looking for a short, sweet romance that leaves you smiling, I definitely recommend this one.

I loved how real this book felt and how the MC’s seemed to understand each other and communicate instead of getting angry. When it came to their relationship, there really was such little drama and even when there was, they figured it out. They allowed each other space to grow, and Dawson never tried to stop Lilah’s career, even when it could get tough. The “romantic gesture” too was so much more than that and utterly perfect. I didn’t quite understand the whole ledger and how it affects the rodeo, and that part seemed to end on a cliffhanger again, but they got their happy for now ending it seems. Would have loved a bit more of a this is a for sure thing plan for them, but it seemed promising. No cheating or OM/OW drama, age gap, dual POV and a bonus chapter from the next book. Can’t wait to see how this whole rodeo thing plays out and what mischief Ruby comes up with next!

February’s Cowboy Dawson is a driven and determined age gap romance—trick rider and drifter Lilah comes storming into grumpy and rancher Dawson’s world and throws him for a literal loop! Their connection sizzles, and the drama unfolding in the overarching series plot takes another step forward with an interesting twist. I love that Lilah continues to push her career forward, staying true to herself while also being vulnerable with Dawson and opening her heart to him. Dawson’s character arc is beautiful and his grand gesture is swoony sweet! This one hour read is delectable and engaging from start to finish.

A wonderfully written story of Dawson helping Lilah out in a pinch with a big push from Ruby. Lilah was a trick rider that had lost her horse, but she needed to continue to practice. Hence, Ruby sending her to Dawson for help. Against his better judgment, he agrees to loan her horses for practice with his rules. Their chemistry was electrifying and could not be denied. Dawson was trying to work on the rodeo stock records to get the insurance and permits all lined out, but he ran into a a road block that he was not sure what to do about. A truly enjoyable read.

Sunshine/Grump, Age Gap

Set in Mustang Mountain Montana

I loved reading about Lilah “Trouble” and Dawson! He owns a ranch and she’s a trick rider needing temporary stock access to train. Ruby is the one who sent Lilah to Dawson’s ranch. Can Lilah possibly turn Dawson from a grump to a happy man? Will she eventually stay instead of moving on? He was shocked at first to see Lilah. As time goes on, their attraction seems to take a turn. I feel that moment was when Lilah fell of a horse and Dawson saw it. Also, Dawson found something that could possibly ruin the rodeo from happening. What could that possibly be? Wait til you find out!

“February’s Cowboy Dawson” by Eve London

-A steamy, age-gap cowboy love story packed with heart, sparks, and small-town charm. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

Dawson is a grumpy, guarded rancher who has shut himself off from love, until sunshine-filled trick rider Lilah lands on his ranch. Their forced proximity and undeniable chemistry slowly chip away at his stubborn walls.

With rodeo troubles brewing and a tempting job pulling Lilah away, their romance faces real challenges. I recommend this enjoyable story.

This was an enjoyable read with great chemistry between grumpy rancher, Dawson, and trick rider, Lilah. She's only on his ranch temporarily but their time together sure let that chemistry heat up ;) He was sure he didn't need love and closed off his heart. Her sunshine and determination chipped away at those walls offering them a fab HEA. However, a new out of State job offer and rodeo intrigue sure put that at risk... I love the mystery woven throughout the series and can't wait to read the next book to find out more. Good fun!

Dawson Griffith lived a controlled precise life on his family ranch. That is until Lilah Martinez drove up. Loved this addition to this well written series with Ruby up to her matchmaking ways. The tension between Dawson and Lilah was perfection as they figured out what love meant. The overarching mystery continues with new interesting hints. Cannot wait for Torin and Claire’s story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. If you like small town vibe, hot cowboys, a bit of angst, mystery, sizzle and heart, I recommend this series.

A slow burn age gap read that introduces us to Dawson a cowboy who is used to being alone, he has no time for anything else except his ranch, he is grumpy to the extreme but when Lilah rocks into his life everything changes. Lilah is a ray of sunshine compared to Dawson but she’s equally stubborn, both adamant they don’t need anyone’s help and slowly we see them both crumbling under their attraction. A story with an air of mystery, a grumpy cowboy that has his walls knocked down by an independent, feisty FMC, Ruby the towns Cupid and of course our old friend Hades.

Book 2 of the Cowboys of Mustang Mountain series. Can be read as a standalone.

'She’s sunshine and curves, and I’m the grump she’s about to push past my limits.'

The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

3.75 - 4 stars.

I liked how unapologetically they were themselves in this, seeing them connect, their love for horses, come together and fall into a rhythm. They supported each other, accepted one another and stood for what they believed in regardless of consequences or outcome. The marker mystery from book one has lead to more discoveries and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next and what other things come to light.

Dawson doesnt do distractions, hes dedicated to the ranch and training horses, that is until Lilah shows up, a trick rider in need of a horse to keep hers back after a mistake lead to a bad contract, shes young and a firecracker who knows exactly what buttons to press for Dawson to finally let go, but to what end? Well written the story is engaging, with steamy scenes, an age gap, cowboy, grumpy/sunshine romance.

Stubborn
What a word…Stubborn! Is it a character flaw, a personality trait or just a fact of life? I don’t know but two adults that are definitely Stubborn are about to meet and the sparks are gonna fly. Mustang Mountain Rodeo is in the works and there may be another monkey wrench that’s being thrown into the process. Meanwhile, Dawson is hosting a trick rider that’s in need of a place to train but is he ready for his grumpy self to face Miss Sunshine Lilah? A great addition to the series!

This was a fun story of Lilah and Dawson. Her sassy sunshine to his grumpy played so well together. These two had me giggling right from the start.
I am so caught up in the history/mystery that is the feud between the Hollisters and the Kincaids. Every time I get more information, I'm just dying for the rest of the puzzle. I can't wait to see what pieces unraveled next now that Claire Hollister is back in town 👀.

Great, quick read. Dawson was happy alone until Lilah needs a place to train. He’s drawn to her but is hesitant to let her close. Lilah was strong but had been dealt a blow when she lost her horse. Proximity fed their attractions to each other. Loved that he opened up to her and let her in on what was going on. Can’t wait to read the next book.

Eve London's Cowboys of Mustang Mountain series continues with Book 2, February's Cowboy Dawson. When Lilah needs use of Dawson's horses to train, he's prepared to allow the beautiful, younger woman access - and keeps telling himself it's strictly business. However, before long, the grumpy cowboy is even more determined to make her his. A spicy, steamy grumpy-sunshine age-gap romance well worth a read.

Mustang Mountain has its share of trouble, but also finds time for romance and Ruby is a constant in both. Her meddling has brought many together and worked through several problems. The rodeo is another project she is involved in and Dawson and Lilah also. They, equally, have an interest in the land and its town.

Lilah is staying at Dawson’s ranch and using his horses to train at Ruby’s request. He’s in the middle of trying to get the rodeo up and running and doesn’t need a woman under foot but the moment he sees her, he’s smitten. Ruby strikes again; she seems to know what each of the men of mustang mountain are missing and finds the right woman for them. She talks Dawson into letting Lilah, a barrel rider, use of his property for training. The pair have chemistry from the beginning, but Dawson holds back as this is supposed to be short term. You get another piece of the puzzle from the January book.
