A logical, repeatable system for getting dressed every day—designed for women who have tried everything else and still hate their closet. In Youniform, Radiantly Dressed founder Stacey Herndon shares the system she built to stop shopping, stop second-guessing, and start living.
Every morning starts the same way… You open your closet and feel a flicker of panic. Too many clothes, nothing quite works together, and once again you are piecing together an outfit for another full day. Getting dressed feels heavier than it should.
This book is for women who are tired of solving the same problem every single morning, day after day.
If you have
Capsule wardrobes that looked beautiful on Pinterest but never worked in real lifeImpulse shopping that ended in buyer’s remorse and wasted moneyTrying on multiple outfits every day and still feeling frumpyFollowing trends that made you feel unstylish and fakethis book will feel familiar.
Many women assume they simply “aren’t stylish,” as if ease and confidence were traits other people were born with. But style isn’t a genetic trait; it’s a system.
In Youniform, international style expert and Radiantly Dressed founder Stacey Herndon introduces a clear, repeatable system for getting dressed every single day.
Instead of chasing trends or copying curated wardrobes, you’ll learn how to build your unique wardrobe that functions as a living system, not a museum collection.
Part Why Getting Dressed Feels So Hard The book begins by unpacking the hidden reasons getting dressed feels exhausting. From the chaos of rushed mornings, to a fashion industry designed to keep you buying, to the quiet mental habits that undermine confidence, this section helps you understand why your closet feels harder than it should and why it is not a personal failure.Part The Youniform System Next, you are introduced to the revolutionary Youniform concept, a logical and repeatable way of getting dressed inspired by how creative geniuses simplify decisions. You will learn how to “hack” your outfits through intentional repetition and scale that system across your entire closet using the 7 Foolproof Outfits, so getting dressed becomes automatic rather than emotional.Part Personal Style, Applied to You In the final section, you explore practical style frameworks to refine your wardrobe, including color, personal style, and body type. Instead of copying someone else’s look, you use these tools to organize your closet around you, your life, your preferences, and your individuality, so your wardrobe finally feels cohesive and complete. This is not minimalism for the sake of having less, and it is not about following rigid fashion rules. It is about creating intentional outfit formulas so you always have something to wear that feels right for the life you are actually living. When your wardrobe works as a system, getting dressed takes minutes, not an emotional meltdown.
By the end of this book, you will know your style, have trusted go-to outfits, and stop buying clothes without a plan. You’ll no longer stand in front of your closet second-guessing yourself. Instead, you’ll have outfits that work on amazing days and awful days… without needing to rethink your wardrobe with every season or life stage.

In 2020 she founded Radiantly Dressed, an international style education company that has reached more than 500,000 women and served over 2,700 customers through her courses and style programs. She is the creator of the Youniform Framework, a fresh approach to getting dressed that solves the biggest problem with traditional capsule wardrobes. Instead of rigid lists and unrealistic rules, Youniforms give women a way to create consistent, repeatable outfits that actually work for real life and make them feel beautiful and put-together every single day. Her work focuses on helping women build wardrobes that support who they are and reveal the Radiant Woman within.
A seventh-generation Texan, Stacey lives outside Houston with her husband and seven children. Despite the busy mornings, she gets dressed looking her best every day in under five minutes. Her mission is to help women show up with intention, authenticity, and the confidence to live a bold and radiant life.
Before finding Stacey at https://radiantlydressed.com/ I was searching for a simple capsule idea that I would be comfortable in that I didn’t have to think about, I could just throw my clothes on in the morning and I would know it looked good. I knew color was a big part of feeling comfortable in my clothes but I just couldn’t get it right. After reading this book it is so much clearer where to go with the color of my wardrobe. I also had never heard of the style essences but now after reading about it in Youniform it is pulling everything together for me. There is so much more in this book, I am going to read this book over and over again. I am going to start building my Youniforms one at a time until I have a wardrobe I love. I would recommend this book to every woman. Thank you for this book, Stacey!
This is a well thought out book by a knowledgeable and passionate author who has spent time researching the topic. I came across the youuniform system and the style squad earlier this year and expected the book to be similar. I have found it both complements and adds to the previous system and is more in-depth, informative and adds value to the original system. The chapters covers every feasible topic to help reduce decision fatigue, teaches how to find your style, body types, colours with corresponding activities to aid learning and embed the process. Each chapter has highlights at the end and will be useful quick reference points in the future. Highly recommend this book.
This is exactly what I need. Stacey gives you a simple system that works for your style, your lifestyle, and the clothes you love to wear. No more overwhelm or decision fatigue. Love it!
This is an amazing, one-of-a-kind style book! As a busy full-time working mom, I’ve been searching for an easy way to understand my personal style without spending hours or tons of mental energy. This book meets you right where you are—no pressure, just gentle inspiration and real growth for authenticity. Stacey gives practical step-by-step guidance to discover your unique colors and style, then shows exactly how to build a capsule wardrobe so your closet works for you. The outfits are simple and ready-to-wear, making mornings so much easier. It’s an incredibly easy, engaging read filled with her own stories and client examples. I couldn’t put it down! There are even helpful tasks throughout so the changes actually happen as you read. It’s light, fun, and super inspiring. I’m recommending it to all my friends and family!
I had a front-row seat to this book from the very beginning, and I can tell you, what Stacey built here is special. Her method has actually changed the way I shop and get dressed. I'm not standing in my closet second-guessing myself anymore. I'm not buying things because I saw it on Pinterest and then never wearing them. I feel more confident in my own skin at 40 than I did at 25, and that's not something I expected a style book to do.
Stacey is the real deal. She combined everything—color, personal style, body type, outfit formulas—into one EASY EASY EASY method that actually works in real life and gets me so excited to explore my style more! I don't care how many style books you've bought before, this is the one you need!
I have followed Stacey for years, worked her plans and have purchased different products.
I was so excited to find her thoughts in book form.
Reading this is like talking to the sister or friend we all want: someone who knows more than we do and will tell us the truth with the kindness and compassion we need to understand what will help us, but without the judgement we like to smack ourselves with.
Reading through the book brought tears to my eyes. Remember: my body is just a body, who I am is so much more. How do I want to represent myself to the world?
And then tool after tool to represent myself well. I’m so glad for this tool to have for myself and share with others.
Youniform by Stacey Herndon is, without question, the best book on personal style I have ever read. And I do not say that lightly. I am middle-aged and have been reading about personal style since I was a preteen, from David Kibbe’s original work Metamorphosis to anything I could find by anyone else. I have spent countless hours in forums and groups trying to make sense of it all and often came away feeling more confused than before. This book is different and puts everything together without the overwhelm that I was experiencing trying to piece it together on my own, over literal decades. I was honestly a little worried getting an advance copy... because I like to be honest. I didn't need to worry, because it's been a good read (and I am already reading it again.)
What stands out most is that it works for real people with real lives. Many style systems feel either overly prescriptive or completely impractical. They hand you a shopping list you do not need, or they create formulas that look lifeless on actual humans. Youniform avoids both extremes. It gives clear structure without stripping away individuality. It is practical without being rigid, and thoughtful without being overwhelming.
I also appreciate how adaptable it is across life stages. Looking back at my twenties, when I was performing and constantly moving between sluffy practice wear, sparkly cocktail events, and even the occasional black tie concert in the same day, I can see how useful this framework would have been. Now my life looks very different. I work behind a computer, play with my kids, and spend time outdoors. This book meets both versions of life equally well. It addresses categories most style books overlook, especially the distinction between true leisure wear and functional at-home clothing, and explains how to build both with intention.
Another strength is how seamlessly it integrates the many factors that shape personal style. Body structure, essences, coloring, lifestyle, and personal preference are often discussed separately in other systems. Here they are woven together into one clear, workable process. The emphasis on color and personal joy feels especially grounding. The modular capsule approach she outlines is flexible enough to shift across seasons and seasons of life, and the guidance on closet organization is refreshingly streamlined and doable.
This is a no-fluff book. It is enjoyable to read, with thoughtful stories throughout, but it remains deeply practical. If you simply read it, you will learn something. If you follow the exercises, even informally, you will likely gain clarity about how you dress, shop, and present yourself.
As someone who has long struggled to dress the middle ground between pajamas and formalwear, this book has been incredibly helpful. I may not own every piece I need yet, but for the first time I understand what is missing and how to move forward. The process feels realistic and sustainable, not like something I will abandon after the initial motivation fades.
For context, I also completed a color and essence report with Stacey and her team. It was a true lightbulb moment for my professional wardrobe and even my business branding as I now speak at events in business casual. Just as importantly, it has helped me show up more intentionally at home instead of working in pajamas day after day. Which... I was!
I am very grateful for this book and cannot wait for the next one.
I have mixed feelings, including about being (so far) the only person to give anything less than five stars. I appreciated hearing from someone who's been through most of the past and present wardrobe fads. I'm trying to think through the idea of fixing on just one basic style for each part of one's life (maybe it's what most of us already do without thinking about it?), with the side bit of advice that, truth be told, other people aren't generally going to care what you wear. I think the risk for me would be feeling discontented with my less "uniform" wardrobe, wishing I had same-style trousers in multiple colours. I don't honestly think that's the intention, though, so it's not a real criticism of the system, just a possible side effect.
The Kindle version has frequent hyperlinks to the author's website, saying that there are free printable resources to accompany the book purchase. I could not find anything there that did not require creating an account or buying some other package. One star off for making the book feel largely like an ad for classes and consultations.
I felt somewhat rushed through the overviews of "essences," colour seasons, and body types. Even in a system based on you-niqueness, I still felt like we were being told to "just pick one already" (as my daughter's virtual character used to huff). Again, for this maybe you have to go deeper into the resources on the website.
I would have liked more examples. A couple more detailed stories of people working through the whole process, from outlining one's body (good grief, is anyone that brave?) to exploring colour and style choices, and then putting the final picture together. Somehow the brief examples like the lady who now just wears print tops to church weren't that mesmerizing. And maybe that's the point: that the bar has been raised too high, that we're too influenced by advertising and media. Real life, for many of us over a certain age, may honestly be about pulling out the print top and then getting on with Sunday school or whatever. But do you need to read a whole book to find that out? That's where it dropped to three stars for me.
If you want a decent overview of why certain kinds of clothes either complement or fight with who you are, you could do worse than this book. Just don't expect it to be a magic wand for everyone.
I have been a follower of Stacey's work for quite a few years now, and I was so excited to see that she was writing a book! She has such an amazing way of teaching that connects with me in a personal way and helps me to assimilate information in a way I hadn't considered before.
I never considered myself to be a particularly stylish person. I never followed style trends or wore what was "cool." As a mom I went on a mission to dress in a way that flattered my newfound curves and made me feel beautiful. As I searched for how to accomplish that, I was caught up in what I thought I *should* wear or "wardrobe essentials" recommended by Pinterest boards or other "professionals" who knew about fashion. I did learn more about why certain colors and pieces combined together better than others, but although I looked more stylish, a lot of those supposedly "essential" clothes didn't make me feel my best.
Since incorporating many of the concepts in "Youniform" over the last few years and discovering my best colors, clothing silhouettes for my body type, and what I love to wear, I now have a closet of clothes I LOVE wearing. I get dressed in just a few minutes each day, I always get compliments on how put together I look, I shop less often and more intentionally, and I feel more settled in who I am because how I am presenting myself to others matches who I am inside.
If you have ever been frustrated at how hard it can be to put an outfit together, or why you can't seem to feel good in your clothes, give this book a read. It just might change your life.
I consider myself an everyday, average woman. I’m not someone that you'd consider fashionable. Any trend I jump on is always late while it’s already left the scene. I’m not stylish. But, here’s what I am! I am a woman learning what is my own personal style so that I can wear what I love every single day! Youniforms take the guess work out of getting dressed and save me wasting time and money.
This book has the ability to guide you into making lasting change in your closet, but ultimately in your confidence. Your personal style journey is about learning how to communicate who you are on the inside to the outside world. Youniforms solved this problem for me. Creating youniforms has been a journey filled with moments of personal reflection and fun discovery.
This book is more like a reference manual you’ll go back to over and over again. So, it’s not the kind of book you can lend to your friend. Instead, it will be the book you’ll tell her all about and she’ll get a copy herself. If I could give you one piece of advice, don’t read this book alone! Find a friend who wants to simplify her closet, spend less time deciding what to wear every morning, actually wear the clothes she owns, and feel amazing when she puts those pieces on. Read it together, chat about it, share your progress, ask her your questions, give her your feedback, and have fun together!
Youniform offers an approachable framework for aiding people in discovering authentic personal style. I appreciate the idea of starting from the inside out—focusing first on who you are and want to be and then translating that into how you show up through your clothes.
Even though I’m not over 40, I still love diving into different style systems to see what I can discover about myself. This perspective was refreshing and useful. As someone who sews many of my own clothes, the framework helps me focus my time and energy on making garments I’ll truly love and wear, rather than spending hours on pieces that end up sitting unworn.
I’ve always loved clothes and had a pretty good sense of my style, but I sometimes struggled to turn that general sense into cohesive outfits that actually reflected it. The book bridges that gap by moving from conceptual ideas about identity and expression into practical ways to apply them to your wardrobe.
It feels thoughtful without being overwhelming, and the highlights section at the end of each chapter makes it easy to revisit the key takeaways.
Youniform by Stacey Herndon is a refreshing and thought-provoking read. While I initially decided to read it for practical wardrobe advice, I found myself most impacted by how it reframes the way we think about clothing altogether.
The section titled “The Human Cost of Modern Fashion” really stayed with me. It thoughtfully addresses the environmental and human consequences of fast fashion and even expensive, designer labels. It shifted my perspective in a meaningful way. I walked away wanting to make more intentional, ethical choices in what I wear.
Beyond that, Herndon offers a highly personalized approach to style. Rather than prescribing a rigid capsule wardrobe, she helps you build one that actually fits your life—your roles, your preferences, and your natural features. I especially appreciated this as someone balancing multiple roles (professional, parent, social, and more) and often feeling overwhelmed by what to wear.
Her system emphasizes cohesion, so many pieces (specific to you) work together. The idea of being able to get dressed in under five minutes and still feel confident and authentic felt both appealing and, thanks to her guidance, achievable.
Before reading Youniform, my closet was filled with clothes. I found I had clothes I enjoyed but didn’t have a clear cut way of styling them, clothes that weren’t quite my style, and clothes I bought that were a “good deal.” With the help of Stacey’s research and guidance, this book solves the problems of how to declutter my clothes, organize my closet, and create a style that is authentic to me.
The end of chapter highlights were extremely helpful to emphasize key points. I really appreciated reading how the history of fabric and invention of the sewing machine shaped the future of clothing. Really makes you reflect on how clothing is currently being used and how more is not necessarily better.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to define their style and streamline the dressing process to free up time in their day!
This easy to read book is the most informative and comprehensive style book I have ever read, and I've read all that I've come across. It begins with the big world view of the fashion industry, which was eye opening, and takes the reader down to their own closet and how to make it functional for daily use within 2-5 minutes each morning. It lays out clearly the why's for caring about the function of our closet and gives uplifting encouragement regarding many things along the way. The piece about how to view our body is priceless, as are many other things, including where to start and each step thereafter. I highly recommend this book to anyone, novice to expert, interested in improving their wardrobe, and along the way likely also improving their life.
Color and style is a little hobby of mine and I really enjoyed reading this well-written book. Being able to describe style with words rather than pictures or videos is quite challenging but the author pulled it off quite well. Each chapter ends with a bullet summary, which I appreciated. There are questions to work through throughout to make this information actually work for you, especially when paired with the authors amazing blog which is full of complimentary material. I have worked with this author personally and still found plenty of info here that was new to me or was explained in a fresh way that helped give me more clarity. I believe women in any stage of working through personal style could pick up this book and gain valuable insight and direction. Definitely worth the read!
This book is a keeper! I knew about colour before, but had no idea how to put outfits together successfully, so I was constantly buying things that didn't quite work! I thought this might be another system of just classifying us into a few broad groups to help with fashion, but actually, the system demonstrated how we each have a unique style and way of expressing it! Instead of limiting what we are supposed to wear, the youniform system seems to multiply the possibilities, all while identifying what looks and feels uniquely great to each of us!! How refreshing to be able to go to your closet and only have clothes you love and clothes that "go" with everything else! I would recommend this book to anyone who is tired of wasting time and money on clothes that never quite feel like you!
Although I have known my seasonal color palette, Winter, for a long time, I struggled with some of my outfits not feeling right although they were “my colors.” After researching for more information, I found Stacey Herndon’s website. Learning about essences was the answer I was searching for. Now I know what looks best on me and why.
Stacey explains Essences in Chapter 8 of her Youniform book. She helped me understand my style personality and how to genuinely express myself as I choose outfits that “feel” like me. I learned how my Triad Essences, Classic/Dramatic/Ingenue, are determined by features such as my facial and bone structure along with personality and preferences. I didn’t choose my essences, they are just a part of who I am.
This book isn’t just about clothes. Stacey reminds us how we’re all uniquely created and how even small details can enhance our confidence in ourselves and our outward appearance as well as play a role in the lives of others with the choices we make.
‘This is why the Youniform process stands apart, because it’s not about fashion at all. It’s about freedom. When your wardrobe finally supports who you are, you stop striving and start living.” (Chapter 4)
Whether you have always known what works best for you with colors and style or are just starting your own style journey, you’ll find encouragement in this book that will help you simplify getting dressed and feel authentically YOU.
While trying to fill up my closet armed with my newly acquired color chart I realized I still had nothing to wear. I set out frantically looking for help and wound up finding Stacey’s Radiantly Dressed website. I just finished this book devouring every word of as quickly as I could! I had no idea that this would change my whole perception on my wardrobe, clothing choices and shopping. Her in-depth detail surprised me on how little I knew. This book is an invaluable help to me and will be a continued re-read as I go through my newly found Youniform journey! Thank you Stacey and Team!
I love an easy to follow book and this is one. There’s no magic wand but when you follow the easy steps, the way you view yourself and how you dress is radically changed, for the better! A Youniform isn’t boring as I thought and it really does make life so much easier. Highly recommended and join the Radiant Woman Adventure it’s worth it. Following Stacey’s guidance I have transformed my wardrobe and feel a million dollars even if staying at home.
Stacey takes the reader on a journey of personal style that I don’t think is available anywhere else. I could relate so much to her experience of trying all the capsule wardrobes that were supposed to simplify my life. None of them ever felt like me. It felt like I was playing dress up in someone else’s closet. I have actually been on a style journey through Stacey’s guidance online and this book ties it all up neatly for me.
From colour to style to knowing how to build an outfit, this book lays it out clearly. This book isn’t about having the ideal body (which, let’s be honest, has evolved over the years) but choosing to honour the body you have in how you dress.
I’m excited to put the last details into my Youniforms and enjoy just being who I was created to be.
I was so excited to read this book. The author provides practical advice and creative tools on how to shop and build a wardrobe. I really liked learning more about color seasons and style essences, as well as her exploration of the history of fast fashion and tips on how to shop more mindfully. I recommend checking this out!
Finally, a Simple Way to Define Your Personal Style Stacey’s take on finding your personal style really resonated with me. I found myself nodding along the whole time. Like the stories she shares, I’ve been naturally curating my own ‘Youniform,’ and her advice has inspired me to take it even further.
I bought one of Stacey’s online courses about a year ago and have always found her style advice informative and fun. Her Youniform concept is brilliant, and in this book she explains it step by step in a very practical and encouraging way. I love the idea of having Youniforms for work, lounging, and everyday life. As someone who likes simple outfit formulas that make getting dressed easy, this approach really resonated with me. I’ve also enjoyed discovering my color season and essence blend along the way. It’s a wonderful guide and one I know I’ll refer back to.
