The Lizard Man of South Carolina: A Gripping Swamp Creature Feature of Dark Folklore and Unexplained Mystery

Rate this book
Deep in the stagnant waters of Bishop’s Creek, a legend is waking up.

It begins with a sound—a heavy, wet impact on the roof of a car—and three parallel gouges torn deep into metal. For Frank Henderson, it was a lucky escape. For the rest of the town, it is the beginning of a nightmare.

As the oppressive heat of the South Carolina summer settles in, a series of impossible incidents leaves the local authorities baffled. Disappearing livestock, mangled vehicles, and a group of teenagers missing in the impenetrable "Dead Zone" point toward something that shouldn't exist.

Sheriff’s deputy Eva Rostova is a woman of facts and procedure, but the evidence in the mud defies every law of nature she knows. Joined by a clinical biologist and a tech-obsessed investigator, she must venture into the Blackwater Maze—a place where the cicadas go silent and the air smells of ancient, musky decay.

They are looking for answers, but the apex predator of the Lowcountry is looking for territory. In a realm where technology fails and the shadows move with a fluid, loping gait, the line between hunter and prey is about to be erased.

Atmospheric, visceral, and relentlessly tense, this novella breathes terrifying new life into one of America’s most famous urban legends.

Oh lizard man

I've heard of him before out there in the swamps. The swamp is scary specially at night driving thru it. The dismal swamp in North Carolina is vast and scary.
