Voidborn: A Vespera Chronicles Prequel Novella

Rate this book
Before Caelia became a name whispered in fear, she was a child taught to survive in the shadows.
Taken into the assassin academy of Vespera, Caelia is trained to erase herself, her voice, her mercy, her past. The Void demands obedience, and the cost of failure is death.
Yet discipline cannot erase who Caelia is—or what the Void is shaping her into.
As the trials grow deadlier and loyalty becomes a weapon, Caelia must choose what she is willing to lose to her compassion, her identity, or the last fragile remnants of the child she once was. In a world where power is forged through pain, survival comes at a terrible price.
Voidborn is a dark, intimate prequel exploring the theft of innocence, the shaping of a killer, and the quiet tragedy behind every legend.
Perfect for readers who love assassin academies, morally complex heroines, and emotionally rich dark fantasy.

I think because I've read the other 2 books in this series, I had quite high expectations for this novella. It was brillianty written and I loved Caelia's back story but I expected a longer timeline, like starting from her birth, how she grew up, then went to the Academy, etc. It was a good novella but I didn't find it entirely necessary for the series. Maybe if I didn't have any preconceived ideas before I read it, it might have been better 🤭📖🐦‍⬛🖤

A brilliant prequel. Honestly one of the best series I have read in a while. The FMC is fantastic and can really relate with this story. Honestly bravo Michelle.
