Annika thought blowing off steam with her friends at a prank house was exactly what she needed. But as the night unravels, she begins to question everything.
Strange events follow her every step, each more unsettling than the last.
Someone is pulling the strings.
Someone is watching. And behind the mask that haunts her lies a truth she may not be ready to face.
Amaya Jax is a dark romance and fantasy author who weaves tales of passion, danger, and intrigue. When she's not immersed in her writing, Amaya is often found curled up with a good book or indulging in her love of historical and sci-fi movies. A proud cat mom to three furry companions, she finds inspiration in the quiet moments spent with her pets and the worlds she explores both on the page and on the screen.
For such a short read, it hits with a surprising, almost vicious emotional force. You don’t just sympathize with the FMC, you burn for her. The injustice claws under your skin, making you seethe right alongside her, and if you’re the kind of reader who lives for revenge served cold and calculated, this one delivers in sharp, satisfying bursts. It’s quick, it’s spicy, and it wastes no time sinking its teeth in. I found myself fuming one moment, then giggling and kicking my feet the next as karma came crashing down exactly where it belonged. And just when you think it couldn’t get any better, there’s a danger dog aka wolf.
Annika, the friend who would do anything to help her friends, agrees to go to a ‘prank house’ for the weekend. Her boyfriend has been a tad absent of late and she sees this as an opportunity to talk to him. Except, this house has been infiltrated by shall we say a s3rial k!ller and his wolf. However, Annika becomes his obsession and in turn she finds she has a lust for not only revenge but bl00d and her saviour 🤭
Such a great read, it gets straight into the nitty gritty and doesn’t stop. It’s packed with gore, guts and gruesome parts just what you need for a quick pick me up 🤣 The authors did such a great job with the narrative giving us explicit visuals of the torture scenes. Totally enjoyed it, not sure what that says about me 😈
If you're on the lookout for an erotic horror with a splattering of feminine rage, you're in the right place. There were a couple of moments in this book where I was like "WTF?!", but overall I did enjoy it. Oh, and there's also an adorable pet wolf thrown in for good measure!
Uuuuum first of all….are you gals okay? This was insane….I obviously loved it. Hard agree with everybody asking you to make this a series 🤣 Should I be in love with the absolute psychopath that is River? Absolutely not. But I am. Also in love with Annika. The embodiment of feminine rage.
This is a fast paced read filled with blood, gore, and questionable intimate moments. The interactions between the characters are filled with a gruesome chaotic energy that makes the pair of them a match made in hell. The author leaves little to the imagination with the detailed descriptions of gore and torture that will for sure make you squirm.
This book is for anyone who who love reading about a woman who has decided she is not going to deal with the BS anymore and the villain who is more than happy to burn it all down with her.
🖤 𝓽𝓻𝓸𝓹𝓮𝓼🖤 📕dismembering 📕genital mutilation 📕drugging/intent on violating 📕heavy smut 📕excessive gore
🖤 𝓻𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀🖤 This is a quick-paced, perfect combination of spice and brutality. At just over 100 pages, Jax and Lane come together to bring the readers a clever and unique plot that is perfect for April Fools’ Day. The emotional tie to the fmc as you see her overwhelmed with how her friends have been treating her to how she develops into such a strong independent female hellbent on revenge by the end for the endless emotional torture and humiliation they put her on. You will rage. You will laugh. You will congratulate Annika for her reaction. This is one you need to read immediately.
*spoilers*
Annika and her friends have rented out a prank house for the weekend. A house where things could go array in various ways. But finding a dead body wasn’t part of the ideal plan. See, when they first arrived, everything seemed normal. Except for the laundry list of things they wanted Annika to do while they all have a blast drinking and settling into the house. She came to free her mind. Not play the weekend maid.
Well, someone has taken notice of how she’s been treated. And that someone doesn’t like it at all. In fact, he’s the very reason for the dead body that comes up later. But they brush it off as part of the hoax. Until one by one, each of them is mutilated beyond repair. Annika just might get her revenge in the form of a masked intruder that has spoiled their plans.
FOOLS NIGHT is a mash-up of extreme horror with erotica, with a perfectly concocted book with spice and excessive gore. The torture is much needed as these are the friends you wish you never meet in your life. All more appalling than the other (much more on Jonas’ part). If you like your horror with some steam, check out this banger from Amaya Jax and Talia Lane.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Dark, Twisted, and Completely Addictive
This book was an absolute must-read from start to finish.
Annika, her boyfriend Yasmin, and their group of friends head to a so-called “prank house”… but what starts as harmless fun quickly spirals into something far darker. The pranks don’t just go wrong—they unravel secrets, expose betrayals, and introduce a mysterious new player into the game without anyone realizing.
River? Completely unhinged—in the best possible way. He’s the kind of character that leaves you equal parts obsessed and concerned about your own taste in fictional men. And Annika… she seems sweet and naive at first, but there’s so much more beneath the surface.
This story had me in a chokehold. The tension, the chaos, the revenge—it was all executed so well. Watching everything unfold had me feeling angry for Annika one minute, then completely hooked the next as karma started doing its thing. If you love messy friendships, betrayal, and that satisfying “get your lick back” energy, this delivers.
The spice? 🔥 Absolutely top tier. Bold, intense, and perfectly woven into the story without taking away from the plot. Some scenes even gave off dark horror vibes (think Hostel), which added another layer of edge to the whole experience.
And can we talk about River and Annika together? The dynamic is wild, feral, and strangely beautiful. He’s dangerous, she’s underestimated, and together they make chaos feel poetic.
Also… there’s a pet wolf. Enough said.
For a shorter read, this book packs a serious emotional punch. It’s gritty, spicy, and deeply satisfying. Huge shoutout to these two authors—this co-write was epic, and I genuinely cannot wait to see what they create together next.
If you’re into dark romance, revenge, morally grey characters, and a whole lot of “you hurt me, I’ll hurt you worse” energy—pick this up immediately.
You know a book is good when you stay up till 4am to finish it.
Arc Read as part of Talia's ARC Team
I have read books by both author's before and love their style, characters and dark unhinged minds.
OMG this book! I devoured it, I refused to put it down until I had finished it and DM'd the authors to sing their praises.
This is an erotic horror and I strongly advise to check the triggers before reading. If you love pitch black, unhinged spicy bloodbaths, this book is definitely for you.
Annika is the girl that would rather stay home with a book than go out partying with her so-called friends but an invite to a prank house with her bestie, her boyfriend and some others seems like it could be fun... until it's not. Her 'friends' treat her like crap from the moment they arrive and she can instantly sense something isn't right. Little do they know, they aren't alone and what was supposed to be a few days of fun and frolics turns really dark really quick.
I instantly felt connected to Annika, the way her best friend puts her down but laughs it off, the way her boyfriend has gone cold and distant, they way they all take advantage of her people pleasing nature. I had 'friends' like this when I was in my teens/early 20's so the minute I read the dedication I was all in and rooting for whatever bad guy was gonna turn up.
And fuck me, River did not disappoint. That man, holy shit, he's an unhinged psychopath with green flag yearning and emotional depth. I am full on obsessed with him. I don't know where he came from or why he kills but I want to find out. I think a backstory novella that leads into how the epilogue ends could be really fucking awesome and I would devour it in a heartbeat.
I mean any man that says things like this could corrupt me any day of the week - "I stand back up, taking one last look at the woman who will inevitably be my damnation, but I'll willingly stare into the eyes of death and burn in the fire, just to be reborn with her right by my side" and "I may be a psychopath, moya boginya, but I will always take care of you"... THIS MAN!
The gore is my level of unhinged delightfulness, plenty of blood and interesting uses of tools and imagination. The spice is hot AF, dominant but caring and with that I will burn it all to the ground for you kinda passion.
I feel like I need to read it again already because I really did love it that much.
“There’s something about a night where everything can change… and nothing feels safe.”
First, thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this ARC!
Fool’s Night had me hooked right from the start. There’s this constant tension woven through the story—like something is always just about to happen—and it kept me completely locked in. The atmosphere felt dark, unpredictable, and almost haunting at times, which made every moment feel more intense.
The characters were one of my favorite parts. They weren’t just there to move the story along—you could feel their struggles, their emotions, and the weight of their choices. Watching the relationships unfold, especially with the underlying tension and chemistry, made it impossible to put down.
What really stood out was how the story balanced emotion and suspense. One minute you’re caught up in the feelings, and the next you’re hit with a twist or shift that keeps you on edge. Nothing felt too predictable, and I loved not knowing exactly where things were headed.
The pacing was spot on—fast enough to keep you hooked, but with enough depth to really connect with what was happening. By the end, I was completely invested and honestly didn’t want it to be over.
If you love stories with moody vibes, strong emotional pull, and just enough mystery to keep you guessing, this one is definitely worth it
Fools Night is a erotic horror story that had me engaged from the first page. It follows “good girl” Annika, who goes on a getaway with her so called “friends” to a prank house. Enter River, who gets off on killing, like a literal hard on. He’s hiding in the prank house waiting for his next victim but the moment he sees Annika, he becomes completely obsessed with her. Instead of targeting her for his next kill, he decides to play a little game with her “friends” and before you know it they start dropping like flies one by one. You watch as Annika falls for River while her own darkness starts to come out. It’s very much twisted but in a good way. 😈 And the spice!! 😳 Absolutely wild, that’s all I’m gonna say. 🤣 Check your trigger warnings with this one, 5/5 ⭐️ but if you think you would love something dark and sexy with Scream vibes, then this quick read is definitely for you. I really wish it was longer because I definitely would’ve kept reading. 5/5 ⭐️
Omg this was such a fun gory novella. The way these girls write together is amazing and top tier. The unaliving scenes the come up with. Chefs Kiss 💋
It’s quick, it’s spicy, and it wastes no time sinking its teeth into your jugular. The pacing is relentless. I found myself fuming with rage one moment, then giggling and kicking my feet the next as karma came crashing down exactly where it belonged—brutal, bloody, and beautiful.
The Verdict And just when you think the carnage has peaked, they throw in a "danger dog" wolf to truly up the ante. This is a must-read for anyone who likes their romance dark, their justice gory, and their stories bite-sized but brutal.
Rating: 5/5 Stars 🩸
Vibe: Vengeful, Gritty, and Unapologetically Violent.

Fool's Night was quite a ride. An April Fool's house, friends who are anything but honest and a secret sociopath with a big pet wolf. Annika and her friends set out for adventure and boy did they find it. The good girl gone bad adage but in the best possible way. Annika starts to see what's really happening as soon as they enter the house. And River, the boy in the walls, is all to eager to help her with her "friends." The way they treat Annika in this book gives me Cinderella vibes, and River is NOT having it. He sees her for what she is, what she's worth and what she can be. Once the first person pays the ultimate price, her other friends start to see this Fool's house, is not actually full of pranks, it's full of revenge and no one is safe.
Top Tier for both Amaya Jax & Talia Lane. MUST READ for lovers of erotic horror or splatterpunk. This is such a wicked, spicy, delicious tale of instant love and obsesssion with a heavy need to right wrongs. Even if Rivers' methods MAY be considered a little extra. Not by me. I want a River for myself. Annika is so undervalued and done dirty by everyone in her life that she considers friends. The trip to a prank house is definitely one to remember. Just not in the way any of them imagine when they pull up to it and unpack. There's nothing quite like seeing problems solved without knowing what they were to start with. The spice is OFF THE CHARTS and the plot is insane!
Fools Night by Amaya Jax and Talia Lane is a very dark horror erotica and this one was so good!
When Annika goes with her friends to prank house things start to go wrong. First off her friends aren’t treating her very nicely and her friend is openly flirting with her boyfriend and they soon come to realise that the pranks aren’t really pranks …. Soon, River the morally black MMC with an obsession with Annika c appears and helps Annika get her revenge. If you love your MC’s unhinged and into sexy blood play then you need to add this to your TBR!
I loved this! It's Annika & River's story & it was awesome! This was a short & quick read. She goes with friends to a "prank" house; unfortunately it turns into anything but a great time. Her friends aren't nice people & she finds out some thing's while they're there. River doesn't like the way they treat her & sets out to right some wrongs & he does. Of course, it wakes up a dark side to her personality & I loved it! The spice was fantastic & loved the story! Recommend this novella & these authors!
This book wastes absolutely no time making an impact. Despite its length, it hits with a fierce, almost ruthless emotional intensity. and it won’t stop until you burst with your release
If you love revenge, this delivers in abundance this book is unapologetically bold. this book bites be careful
Amaya and Talia’s writing is where this novel truly stands out their styles blend so seamlessly it feels effortless, each voice elevating the other. They bounce off one another in a way that keeps the story fluid, dynamic, and impossible to put down.
This erotic horror is pitch black and the hot MMC is an unhinged psychopath of massive proportions. I loved it!!
It’s a wicked tale of insta love and an obsession that is spicy and dangerous. I really liked the MFC, Annika, she was a bad@ss and I was so pleased at how her ‘so called’ friends got their comeuppance. They all deserved it.
It’s a short read but had me engrossed from page 1. The plot is fantastic and the spice WELL spicy. This was a very, very good insane read!
For such a short read it definitely still gives you the emotional impact where you are mad FOR the FMC. If you love when people get their lick back on those that have wrong them, that is short but still has some spice in it would definitely recommend picking this one up. I found myself getting pissed off for the FMC, yet giggling and kicking my feet when people started getting their just dessert 😈😈 AND there’s a pet wolf 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
ladies y'all ate down in this book omg 😳 Annika deserved to get her revenge after her so called friends betrayed her in the worst ways possible and I loved river he's so feral and dangerous 😈 I couldn't get enough of him I loved how he helped Annika get her revenge and the way he loves her was so beautiful too this book was a 10 outta 10 ladies
Without jokes though, this book was insane. Insane in a good way..? I think? 😂😂.
So much happened in the book, there was gore, there was blood, there was smut. At some points the story was a bit strange in my eyes, a bit too rushed. But the rest of the book made up for those points.
so all in all, it was another good book from Amaya and Talia. 🥰🥰
This one was my first Amaya Jax book, but I have read everything Talia has written. 4.5 stars for me, only because I feel that the book jumped straight into chaos instead of there being some buildup. If horror is your thing, this book is for you! Filled with gore and smut, Talia and Amaya write well together!
I like a good revenge story. It was fun gory and hott! Love stories where the FMC likes the stalker and joins him in the hunt and torment. The gory parts were new and loved the idea of them. JJ got what she deserved in the end.
Omggggg. This was intense. I honestly loved this lol. This was darkkkk, but I couldn’t stop reading it. I loved that this was one of the only dark romances I’ve read where the MMC doesn’t do anything to harm the FMC
Oh boy you better be prepared for what’s to come when you meet River. He will leave you all hot and bothered but also a little concerned that you’ve fallen in love with him. What happens when crazy meets crazy? Well obviously a whole lot of fun times…..in multiple ways. This book will leave have you saying screw “keep your friends close and your enemies closer” instead you’ll be saying “you stab me in the back I’ll stab you hard”.
River, River, River. That man can do the unholy things, and he is good at it. I never want to look back. He had my heart the moment he was introduced. Forever in love with this book.
