Since capturing audience’s attention with Final Dawn in 2012, Kraus has captivated and delighted his readers, both with his solo projects like Epoch's End, The End of All things, Surviving the Fall and No Sanctuary, and with his co-authored projects with authors like Stephanie Mylchreest, Justin Bell, Kate Pickford and others. The Silent Tide is a 6-book series.
Submerged, book 2 in the Silent Tide series, picks up right where Maelstrom left off, with Iona fighting to reach her lab, Garrett stuck in the mountains trying to get home while being hunted by men he crossed in Maelstrom and Tess & Hannah fighting to escape collapsing skyscrapers in Manhattan after the disastrous early release of the new surfactant EcoGlide and the flooding it caused. The writing is superb, there simply isn't anything to criticize. The plot, pace, characters, descriptions of events and disasters and narrative quality are all extremely well written. Believe it or not, Submerged is actually faster paced than Maelstrom! Highly recommended for fans of apocalyptic survival thrillers, thrillers in general and anyone who is already a fan of Upton and Kraus! Overall, 5/5 stars!
Submerged continues author Garrett Clements' struggles for survival in the mountains. He's aiming to meet up with wife Tessa and daughter Hannah, who are showing incredible bravery by saving others from the hotel they're all trapped in. On her own, Iona, Garrett's scientist sister, risks her life to overcome the rising bacteria-infested water and her to her lab, hoping to find an antidote. Will she be successful?
Stacey Upton and Mike Kraus' dynamic survival- thriller will make you experience every moment of danger, suffering, courage, inventiveness, horror and conflicting emotions, in an all-action storyline you won't want to miss.
If you like amazing coincidences and super strength lab rats students
Author relies on amazing coincidences to carry his multiple story lines. Very unique background for the floods which I liked. But everyone seems to have amazing strength, climbing 34 stories of stairs with a heart condition or being an office manager. I have a pacemaker and no what it is like just to walk 3 floors when elevator died with a rolling suit case. Iona can see 10 miles across lake in rain and then row a tree to her college while in submerged in cold freezing water without getting hypothermia. You catch my drift of incredulous wonder. Amazing writing!
This is an interesting second part to the series. A really scary idea, with good tension & excitement at moments. I'm intrigued to see where this plot will go & how the characters plan to survive. I am looking forward to the next part.
What a story once again A flood that has catastrophic consequences. How will anyone survive this, can it be possible even. So much suspense that you might stay up all night to finish the book.
