Discovering a Tutorial to help against the Monsters should be a good thing. But the Humans that came before Brodie had and have other plans.
Brodie must hope for the best for his burgeoning company as he is transported to a whole new world, with a strange new socioeconomic structure. If he and his family were middle class on Earth, he knows now that he’s just a newb at the bottom of the Tutorial ladder.
There is a small glimmer of hope as he realizes just how much he can personally gain from the Tutorial. Especially with Smegma’s help and knowledge of the System…
Can Brodie learn enough to return a true Hunter, or will he be stuck inside for decades…
Alchemy, with brief notes on various gathering skills. Plus a focus on spear wielding.
Still in the Tutorial. Not leaving terribly soon. The side plot of his business being wrecked and the trial going poorly since he is gone is nice for flavor.
Brodie has now found himself inside a new realm and things are even more complicated as new opportunities and new people raise the bar. I particularly like how the wider world is used to change exactly how we see the first few books and of course exactly what portends for the future. Can't wait till we see just how all the development s come to fruition.
Book 3 of this awesome series sees the story going in a new direction. It's almost like reading a different story, but the author keeps it connected with occasional updates on the original location. Ryan Debruyn proves once again that he deserves his position as one of the best LitRPG authors.
Nothing meaningful happens in this book. It is literally one over-long training montage. The protagonist stays in the same place, trains, and learns a few new skills. That's the entirety of it. The overall plot hasn't advanced in any meaningful way. If you edited it down to a third of the length you'd have a decent first act for a better book.
Brodie is now lucking into a lot of success. How long before he gets caught? Or has he finally gotten the answer to getting out that no one seems to be willing to discuss? And why would that be?
Not in a bad way but the third book changes the story completely. Instead of the MC figuring out the ins and outs of the system in a world like our own he is transported to a fantasy type tutorial world. It’s still good but very different than the first books.
Another fun book by Ryan that leaves you eagerly awaiting the next installment. Can't wait to continue this journey with Brodie and see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
