Life was hard enough for Journei Evans growing up. Her trust in men is tainted due to her traumatizing past. Thinking she is finally on the path to happiness, and able to live a normal life, a series of events causes a rift in her joy. That path now has an alternate route.
Christian Gills went from being in the streets to being in a pulpit. The righteous path he took is one he held on to as best he could. Women aren’t on his agenda simply because making sure the word was spread was. All it took was a bump into Journei to make him go astray.
Temptation can make you feel like a sinner once engaged, but what if it brings you love? The heart wants what it wants and sometimes you have no choice but to accept it, however, make sure it doesn’t have any extra strings attached.
This book started off with real promise, but by the end it completely collapsed under its own chaos. It was how poorly everything was handled and how unbearable the FMC became.
Journei was exhausting. She was aggressive, disrespectful, and emotionally unstable in almost every situation. She needed to be in someone’s chair. She hit people, screamed at everyone, jumped to conclusions, threw tantrums, and had zero respect for anyone around her, including Christian’s mother and medical staff who were literally trying to save her and her unborn child. She screamed at nurses, put her hands on people, and threaten violence every time she didn’t get her way and it was beyond frustrating. There was no growth and no accountability. As the book went on, my patience ran out. I started skimming her scenes, then eventually checked out completely. This FMC was highly unlikable.
Christian not checking her behavior made it worse. At some point, he should’ve checked her, like really checked her. He could barely keep her in line.
Kégo’s POVs POINTLESS. They were completely unnecessary. He and Christian were already planning to kill Alexis, and Kégo’s chapter did nothing but repeat information we already knew. His POV didn’t add tension, or insight. It was just redundant narration, easily the most pointless POVs I’ve read in a book.
The handling of major events was sloppy. Important moments weren’t shown, they were skipped. One second Journei is storming toward Christian, and the next thing we know, he’s spitting blood with no context. We don’t even find out why until later, when it’s casually mentioned that she punched him. The way it was written felt backwards and confusing, like the aftermath was shown before the action itself.
The Galleria situation was weak. We’re supposed to believe that Kégo and Diego just accepted Christian killing their blood relative. That alone made the story unbelievable. Then, in the final pages, the situation with Journei’s father was dropped like a grenade. It was crammed into the ending for shock value.
The book relied too much on extreme behavior and violence without any emotional payoff. Too many scenes happened off page. Characters acted irrationally with no consequences. The concept was there, but the execution failed badly.
Unexpected Temptation was unexpectedly good. A pastor with a checkered past falls for a married woman. That is the gist of this story. I'll be back for part two.
I like the music , you know baby, the melody is really nice butttttt…. The ending felt kind of rushed. I would have love to see a reconciliation with Kega. Also, I keep wondering why the hell he keep pushing her dad on her.
Pastor Gills/Christian/Hades was a real life thoroughbred. Used to be in the streets… turned Pastor. He came home and ran into a women that enticed him and had him going against his Godly senses. Journei was abused by her father after he took her mother away from her. She escaped, but had issues seeing men the way she should so she ended up marrying a woman. She thought Alexis was for her, but she was cheating with different women. Journei has vitiligo so her dad called her a name she didn’t care for as well as her other enemies. Christian loved her skin though. They finally get to link up when it’s Journei’s bday because they both share the same best friend, Hunz. He wanted them to meet years ago, but they never did. They probably should’ve because they would’ve been together and probably had more babies than what they ended up with. I enjoyed this one Connie!
I passed this book up several times before I decided to read it. My hang-up was the fact that he was a Pastor, and I didn't want to read about him getting busy. But listen, I'm so glad that I decided to go ahead and read this book. It was so good.
Gills was not your average Pastor. He was an undercover Menace. In the underworld he is known as Hades and he lives up to the name. He had a lot of bodies under his belt and didn't mind collecting more if necessary.
Journei almost got on my nerves. However, she was perfectly imperfect. My girl had scars that ran deep, and all she wanted was for someone to love her. She had an aversion to men until she didn't. Christian Gills changed her mindset with carefully placed strokes.
They went through a lot to get to their happily ever after, but it was all worth it in the end.
Connie Easton did NOT come to play!!! This was definitely a page turner. I couldn't put it down. Journei and Gills chemistry could be felt just from reading those words! It's like their connection leaped off the pages! Alexis is a whole character, you out there doing this girl wrong but get upset when does it to you. It ain't no fun when the rabbit got the gun now is it?! Connie is sooo wrong for leaving us hanging like this though! I really enjoyed this book, can't wait to read part 2!⭐⭐⭐⭐
I hate leaving reviews so I usually just post something random. This is probably one of the most genuine reviews I'll ever leave. This is my first time reading a book by this author but it definitely won't be my last. This was an amazing read. I need this in paper back. It was so well written and put together and it kept me interested the whole time. Its definitely a page turner ans I highly recommend!
I was excited to discover this author and really looked forward to settling in with this series. Unfortunately, I don't like her writing style or the flow of the story. I was disappointed with the first 20 pages and extended to the 50 page rule, but this story was going nowhere for me. There wasn't any substance and the sex scenes just seemed to be filler. This author has a good sized catalogue so I'm not opposed to trying a novella, if there's one.
I loved this book! It’s fascinating how people or events can exist in your life without ever intersecting until the perfect moment—it’s mind-boggling how life paths eventually align. Journeis truly took us on a journey, from childhood to the present, weaving together emotions, experiences, and connections in such a compelling way. I’m excited to dive into book 2 and see where the journey leads next!

You truly never miss a good thang til it’s gone!!!…Alexis is living that life right now and she can’t handle it!!!… I know this is not it for Gills and why is the family outside not reacting to what’s being thrown and destroying the church!!!… I hope Journei is okay and safe!!!… Alexis needs to chin check her slides because they are constantly stepping out of order and allowing them to disrespect Journei!!!…
Unexpected Temptations pulls you in with strong chemistry and emotional tension from the start. The attraction feels real, the conflict is messy in the best way, and the characters make choices that keep you invested. It is not just about desire, it is about the risk that comes with giving in. A quick, engaging read that delivers drama, feelings, and temptation done right.
I can’t wait for part 2 to come out because baby you did that. I’m so happy that Journei met Christian though and I’m glad that they got together it was definitely meant to be. Alexis wasn’t for Journei because she most definitely didn’t value her marriage. I hope Christian make it out alive though
This book was so good omg I can’t wait for part 2 because baby I’m stuck on who threw fire bombs in the church I’m sure it was Alexis though. But for Gill and her father to get caught in side is crazy
Now I’m up at 1:10 am just finishing this book and when I say I released 50 or more curse words with that cliffhanger but all I can say is HADES IS RETURNING PSA. I NEED PART 2 ASAP
I need part 2, Praying for Christian. Journei trifling wife had something to do with the church or Galleria, either way Christian has to be okay,Hunz & Belle will be ready for war!
OMG I love Christian. I love this story line although at first I was confused about Christian's nationality. I know the second installment is going to be nothing short of amazing
Whew this one was amazing. The instant connection was everything. Journey and Christian were so good together. Alexis needs to go bye bye asap. Hurry and 1 click.
The title of this book is fitting. Temptation is a m***f****. I'm enjoying the story as it unfolds and can't wait to read the second part. Connie you get me every time.
This book was ok but the thing that pissed me off was she was pregnant the whole freaking book and she doesn't have the baby at the end smh. If we wasn't going to get the baby she could have gotten pregnant at the end of the book
Gills being a pastor should have slowed Journei down, as well as her being married, but nope! It made no sense the way she was all over Gills and then go home to her wife!! The whole book didn't make much sense to me! I love this author but this was not for me!!
Oh Ms. Easton, you are cutting up Ms. mam.... I am feeling this book and baaaaaby. Hades, oops, I mean Christian is not to played with! Alexis better watch her back.
That ending got my nerves all the way bad. Pastor Christian Gills aka Hades is going to get Alexis and Galleria. Please don’t let nothing happen to him.
Wow is so weird how Journei and Gills have a bestfriend in common and didn't somehow come across each other. Alexis and Galleria is behind what happened at the church.
