Good Gothic horror story

This was a propulsion read that conveyed an atmosphere of darkness and urgency.

The conclusion was exceedingly abrupt however.

I feel that at least another chapter or two was required.

If you like jarring stories with abrupt endings, this read is for you.

I loved it!

Warning: Meant for mature audiences. Contains scenes that would scandalize the ton. Readers of a delicate constitution are advised to keep their fans and vinaigrettes close at hand. This story has scenes of horror and violence.

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. You will see the most beloved characters in a whole new way. This is a Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice variation. This is part of the ‘Pride and Prejudice Gothic Variations’ series (all standalone and can be read in any order). This is a story with a chilling mystery and a happy ending.

The new residents of Netherfield Park are horrified when a young woman is viciously attacked less than a mile from their home. Discovered by Mr. Darcy, she is brought to Netherfield Park to recover. When Elizabeth Bennet wakes up in a strange house with jagged wounds marring her skin, all she can remember is wretched, screaming terror. The only thing she knows for sure is that it will happen again, and that nobody is safe. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

spoilers

This book has more of a focus on Bingley and Jane’s love story developing then Elizabeth and Darcy. It is nice to see that Darcy still choose Elizabeth after being maimed by a mad mans bull mastiff in while in the woods. Caroline is not nearly as nasty in this as she is in cannon.

Excellent novel

Very different from the usual P&P variations but I was intrigued from the first page and really enjoyed the story.
My only negative comment is that it ended rather abruptly and I would love to have read an epilogue.

All the characters but not exactly Pride and Prejudice but a thoroughly enjoyable gothic yarn that kept me turning the pages.
