A last-minute #girlstrip #getaway to the #OregonCoast is just what @ZoeSaysSoFitness needs. Or at least what the real Zoe needs. Hiking and laughing are the only two items on the agenda for their overnight trip to the tiny, picturesque town of Three Rocks. One stop at The Town Mercantile and two cinnamon rolls later, Zoe is wishing she could add “cute, dimpled, small-town boy” to that list.
Meanwhile, the only thing on Lucas’s agenda is holding onto his job while caring for his elderly grandfather. He’s accepted that his photography dream was just a dream. The only thing more far-fetched than that is thinking he has a chance with the beautiful, dark-haired, bubbly, charismatic, and apparently famous girl that walks into the store one Monday morning.
Much to his surprise and despite living in different cities, or perhaps entirely different worlds, he does have a chance. Between waterfall hikes and FaceTime calls, library trips with Gramps and dinners shared in their tiny kitchen, Lucas quickly realizes that Zoe fits perfectly in his life.
But just one night in her world has them both questioning their future. Is her time at the coast just an escape from her job? How long until she realizes that she’s destined for so much more than Lucas will ever be able to offer? And when that time comes, how will Lucas and Gramps go back to life without Zoe?
*This book is mid-spice compared to the first in the series, which is lower spice.
Wesley Harper is an amateur author, semi-professional coffee drinker, and advanced overthinker. After thirty-nine-and-three-quarters years not writing books, she decided to write a book. Or two. Or five?
When not attempting to put her fictional world on paper, she enjoys being exasperated by her bad dogs and unruly teenagers, doing things to exasperate her husband, and obsessively working out in her garage gym.
What a wonderful story! Engaging, heartfelt, loving, fun! The story is about Zoe and Lucas (or Luke), as well as their friends, but Zoe is the focus. She is a top influencer on Instagram with millions of folowers. Everything she does gets documented with pictures and videos. Her fans are unwavering. Her critics are heartless. She has a close friend who manages things for her, and she had a guy who pretended to want to help her, but only took adavanage of her. He is now in her past, but what he does keeps haunting her.
Zoe, who lives in Portland, decides to take a trip to a small town on the Oregon coast where she runs into Lucas and there is an instant attraction. The first part of the book is devoted to watching this relationship develop. Both Zoe and Lucas are afraid to tell the other how they really feel. But that keeps the story interesting.
Later in the story Zoe is convinced that she needs to get out on her own and "find herself". She embarks on a journey east, exploring tourist attractions in several states. She documents everything again with pictures and videos, and her close friend takes care of editing and posting everything. To set herself somewhat free Zoe deletes all of her social media apps from her phone, which is liberating, but creates a problem with staying in close touch with Lucas. They keep thinking about each other, but lack of good communication makes them doubt each other's feelings.
Finally, Zoe ends her journey when she realizes that she needs to be actually connected with the people she cares about. The journey home is touching and emotional.
A feel good romance that will have you, like several of the characters in Three Rocks, wanting to move to a small town and make friends with unlikely people (exhibit A: “grumbly” old man Henry Stark, an absolutely endearing secondary character in this book). This is the second in the series and occurs concurrently with the events of the first book as it focuses on two different main characters, yet West and Tex and everyone else from the first book still made appearances. I haven’t read a series that is set like this, and I found myself wishing I hadn’t gifted my copy of the first book to a friend so I could go back and look at certain events (ex: the bonfire) from West/Tex’s perspective again. Can’t wait for Avery & Cooper!
Just You and Me by Wesley Harper is the second book of her Three Rocks series. It is a cute and fun small town romance.
I just love all of the characters and the small town setting. Lucas is impossible not to love, but Henry (aka Gramps) stole the show. Lucas dropping everything to move in with and take care of Henry is both sweet and sad. The addition of Henry in the story made the book for me and I just love how quickly Henry and Zoe bonded. Zoe’s friends are also great and I cracked up at her mom’s advice. I’m loving the town of Three Rocks and can’t wait for Avery’s story in the next book.
Another really cute book in the Three Rock series! Great chemistry between the main characters. I also found the book to be quite inspiring, it made me want to get out of my comfort zone and do something that I normally wouldn’t do or have been afraid to do. Really recommend this one!
This was adorable. Lucas and Zoe were both very sweet. I honestly wasn't looking forward to this one because I really want Avery's story, but I'm so glad I read it. Can't wait for more from this world! Stuff your kindle deal
I was not prepared for Zoe to worm her way into my heart like that. Gah! This one made me want to buy cinnamon rolls and travel the country. Book 3 here I come.
