Etta was a fun filled spirit that went with the flow. She had a good life with love pouring in from every direction. Her world took a turn for the worst when an uninvited guest decided it was better to stir up trouble than mind their business.
Mello was an approach with caution type of man. You never knew what side you were getting. However, he was still human and found love like everyone else. Etta was his only priority until a ghost from his past put a stop to it.
Love is a complication that comes with many bumpy roads. It’s up to you to decide whether you’ll take that ride. No journey was easy, but most were worth it. Will they protect what they’ve built or let the only thing they cherish be ripped apart?
Etta and Mello frustrated me bad. Etta for letting British run her off so easily, and Mello for allowing British to run circles around him in the first place. A lot of the plot choices just didn’t make sense. For example, what exactly was Mello even taking pictures of at his house when it came to British, and how was Etta staying away supposed to help his custody case? If anything, British seeing them together made her crash out even more, which is the exact behavior they would want to expose in court. None of that logic lined up.
Etta got on my nerves with how she interacted with hospital staff. She didn’t know how to talk to anyone without yelling or name-calling, when they were literally trying to help her and her baby. It made me wonder if the author knows how to write Black women outside of loud, aggressive, and disrespectful stereotypes, because it felt excessive and unnecessary.
Mello should’ve felt a way when Etta walked away from him as easily as she did, but once again, accountability for the women was nonexistent. Then around 77%, the story completely derailed. Mello went from zero bodies to six, and this wasn’t even written as that type of gun-slinging urban fiction from the start. Four of those deaths were random and unjustified, and he just hops in his car and drives off like nothing happened. No cleanup crew, nothing. It didn’t match the tone the book had established at all.
By that point, it felt like the author didn’t know whether she wanted this to be contemporary romance or hardcore street fiction, and the indecision hurt the story. Reading Mello suddenly go “demon time” over Etta also fell flat when she had already dipped the moment things got rough. The execution was sloppy, the character arcs were inconsistent, and the genre shift came out of nowhere.
I love me some Mello and Etta!!!… I understood everything Etta was saying about dealing with baby momma drama and British brought all the drama!!!…These women be on one acting like the woman is at fault because the man they left don’t want them no more!!!… I was so proud of Mello and Mason with opening up the university!!!…I bet it’s going to be lit on that campus!!!…
I enjoyed these two in time flies. I enjoyed reading their story. Mello and his brother are comical. I swear some people just can't let go. Trust me as a mother I know how Etta felt toward the end but there was never going to be peace with them if British was around. Connie you got them skills. Every book I have read there was nothing wrong with it. I'm continuing on down my list and finish reading your catalog. Until the next review be blessed.
I've been rockin' with Connie Easton from book 1 and I haven't been disappointed yet. Etta and Mello grabbed your attention from the first page and kept it because i couldn't put this down. Brittish came back and took them through ish but she deserved everything she got in the end. Loved the book can't wait to see what's next from the author
I loved it. Mello didn’t play about his lady at all and I loved it and neither did Etta best friends play about at all . Mello baby mother and best friend both got what they most definitely deserved though and I was mad about it. I’m glad that Mello got to open up his own college.
You did it yet again. 👏 these characters getting funnier and stupid by the books chyy. These characters gave you real realistic 👌... in the best and worst ways. Etta was sweet beautiful and loving but a true rider..... imma be quiet bc I will mess a good story up lol
This spin-off was everything I hoped it would be! The storyline was packed with drama, and it was so exciting to dive deeper into the lives of these characters. The connections to the original story were seamless, making it a perfect continuation while still standing strong on its own. A must-read for fans of the series!

I loved this book from start to finish. I couldn’t stand British at all and she got on my nerves. I loved Etta and Mello relationship. Mello was definitely book bae. Even though they hit many bumpy roads I’m glad they weathered the storm together.
If you are looking for a story filled with drama and a bitter woman, this would be your story. Then there were the women fighting and low light behaviors, then this is it too.
Mello and Etta are perfect for each other. I love how he loved her but when he said that bull💩 to her pertaining to British and his son I had to corner eye his azz. British was doing to much and I was so glad when Mello finally sent her where she needed to be.💕💕
I found out about Etta and Mello from a different Connie Easton book. This book is the beginning of their relationship. I love their relationship and chemistry. This book here summed up why they’re madly in love with each other.
That was a good follow up book. British was like most bitter baby mommas. She only wanted that man money nothing more nothing less. I loved the way Mello loved Etta.
I enjoyed this story. It was a good to read a standalone. With interesting likeable characters. A little drama, some craziness and in the end happiness.
Etta and Mello, loved them together. British was still delusional I see. She thought her having Brayden was going to keep Mello, but Etta said AHT AHT!!! Great job
