Written by Stephen Yuille, The Sight of Christ and The Heart Taken Up form a devotional bundle designed to guide you through 90 days with the Puritans.
In each book, Yuille reflects on short quotations from the Puritans to create brief daily devotions. What I appreciate most is how he grounds each meditation in God’s Word, drawing on relevant passages of Scripture and bringing out their richness.
Puritan Passion and Deep Devotion
For example, Thomas Manton is quoted as saying, “If God smiles on us, it is enough, though the whole world should be against us.” Yuille then directs our attention to James 4:8, showing how, in Christ, we find compassion rather than condemnation. In Him, there is peace, confidence, and assurance in the love of God—and I was left with a deep sense of hope in Him.
Yuille writes with pastoral precision, drawing out the passion of the Puritans to engage the hearts of his readers. Rich in theology, these devotions will quickly warm your heart and draw you closer into love for Christ.
