I bought this to learn more about the impact of WW2 on Basingstoke. I was hopeful I'd gain some real insight, though I found the text to be fairly generalised and lacked any reference to first hand accounts, personal experience and specific examples or reports from the time. I was particularly surprised not to see references to bombings ie St Michael's church and the POW camp, which had a significant impact on Basingstoke and it's people.

Overall it's an interesting read, but doesn't provide much detail.
