Sad Faery Poems: Volume One

Rate this book
“I am already a ghost. The girl everyone only loved when she was either high or drunk.
The women made invisible by recovery”

It is easy to cast judgement upon others you may say, can I do that to myself?

Dearest, that is what I do best!

These poems take a step back from the love obsessed fool I have been. Without the focus on love, on others and their faults and actions towards me I must look to myself and who I am.

Sad Faery Poems follows a heart-shattering look at self, at life and all the hardships endured. Always chasing the light at the end of the tunnel, this time finally reaching it.

A love letter to October, to autumn and the magic & possibilities life holds.

T.L. MacRae

T. L. MacRae is a fairy warrior princess from Fife, Scotland. Told too often that her head was in the clouds, she lost touch with reality somewhere around tea parties and chasing unicorns & faeries. She created realms of her own and lives there instead.
She writes unhinged horror, spicy romance, devastating poetry and a little non-fiction. As a survivor she wants to raise awareness of domestic abuse and mental health issues. She believes that writing gives her a voice otherwise silenced by those who benefited from that quiet in the past.

This was a wonderful collection of poetry written over a single month capturing feelings as they come, to sit with them and produce this collection of poetic art.

Telling the story of real life experiences whilst also being educational about relationships and what the good and bad can be like to deal with after relationships upon reflection.

Some stand out poems were:

Little White Feather, about angels and death in signs.

Addict, about escape in alcohol or medication to deal with feelings to cope.

October 15th, about anorexia and craving to feel small and dainty.

Broke, about trying to fight against poverty and lacking money despite trying so hard feeling it's useless and futile but trying and needing to.

Gratitude, about all the things you can achieve when turning hopes into action and this whole collection of poetry!

This was a great collection and flowed so well too, a brilliant idea to write a collection through a month too.

This collection feels like walking barefoot through a haunted forest at dusk beautiful, aching, and quietly devastating.Sad Faery Poems leans into themes of loneliness, recovery, identity, and the kind of heartbreak that doesn’t scream it whispers. Every poem feels like a confession pulled straight from the soul, especially with lines that blur the line between fantasy and raw human experience. The “faery” element isn’t whimsical in the traditional sense it’s fragile, ghostlike, and deeply emotional. There’s a heavy, reflective tone throughout, almost like reading someone’s diary during their darkest nights but that’s what makes it so powerful. It doesn’t try to hide pain; it sits with it, examines it, and somehow turns it into something hauntingly beautiful. If you love poetry that feels personal, a little broken, and deeply honest this will hit hard.

I was lucky enough to receive a code for a free copy of this audiobook without expectation of a review.

I've been trying to read/listen to more poetry as I struggle to really understand or follow a lot of poetry. This book flows well, very well written and is full of emotion, exploring topics such as relationships, love, sexual assault and domestic violence.
This is a very deeply personal collection of poetry that delves in to a lot of difficult topics so has a lot of trigger warnings.
This book is read very well by the narrator.

Oh October.

It's hard to write a review on a book of poems when one is only expressing feelings. I've read a few more than once because somehow I felt the connection, pain and the release.
I look forward to reading more poems.
