Mine for a Moment

Falling in love was nowhere in the job description.

Neither was solving a murder.

Colette Slip went to Rosebud Ranch for a contract. Her plan was Take an accounting gig and move on once she cleaned up the finances. Numbers, she could handle. But her handsome cowboy boss? That’s another story.

Marshall King is grumpy, stubborn and he needs her help. Driven to unravel the accounting mystery, Colette is thrown into an investigation that reveals more questions than answers.
The last thing Marshall needs is an annoyingly attractive accountant pointing out all the ways he screwed up. How can he collaborate with her on the finances, when she’s so damn distracting? The more time he spends with Colette, the more he longs for something deeper.

When an employee is found dead at the ranch, the quest to balance the books turns into a hunt for a murderer. As the clues lead them to suspect one of their own, Marshall is determined to protect Colette. The only problem? Saving Colette might mean losing it all.

Mine for a Moment is the first interconnected standalone in the Rosebud Ranch Series. A romantic suspense blending spicy romance and intriguing mystery.

DNF Chapter 10

Thank you Love Notes PR and the author for giving me this copy in exchange for my honest opinion of the book

I really wanted to like it, but this book is marketed as a romantic suspense, and I'm almost 100 pages in and all I get is a MMC who keeps sexualizing and getting horny every page with the FMC... We get it, dude, you don't need to talk about it for three chapters straight, it's boring.

I was expecting a Catherine Cowles-style mystery where there's some mystery from the start, but no, the mystery hasn't been found 🤠

Even accountants know how to keep things balanced: save a horse, ride a cowboy

What starts as a simple job to assist Rosebud Ranch with a financial audit turns into an absolute whirlwind of romance and murder mystery.

This story has a beautifully set scene. A large ranch with luscious rolling green hills, grazing cattle, gentle (and sometimes needy) horses, a gorgeous winding creek, complete with a big beautiful red barn. I loved the closely-knit small town feel of this book. The senior ladies getting together and gossiping each morning at the bakery was so funny and endearing.

Loving your neighbor one of the themes that stood out to me the most. Growing up in a small town myself, I’ve learned how valuable a community can be, a moral I hold near and dear to my heart.

Colette and Marshall just have that instant spark, and oh my goodness does it absolutely show. He is dead-set on treating her right; bringing flowers, opening doors, and looking out for her safety. He is the definition of a gentleman...even when the tension starts to get a little thick.

If you’re looking for a cowboy who loves deeply and knows the value of a gesture...you have the right book in your hand.

And I cannot forget the SUSPENSE!!! The last 25% of this book had me pacing while reading on my Kindle, the plot twist was THAT good!

“Colette Slip had lit a match and blown up all that stillness” 🔥

“I’m laughing because I don’t stand a chance with you. Rules or no rules, there’s nothing that could keep me away from you now” 💓

Thank you Mimi Gunn & LoveNotesPR for this ARC.

This book was SO much fun. Such a good mix of romance and murder mystery, I genuinely had no idea who the culprit was going to be.

There were so many adorable moments throughout, and I’m always a sucker for a ranch setting, THE DREAM! 🐴🤠

Marshall reading her romance books to her at the end and blushing every time there was a spicy scene?! I was SWOONING.

Evan was such a great side character and I already cannot wait for his story next.

If you love a grumpy x sunshine, cowboy romance vibe with a hint of mystery to keep things interesting, you’ll definitely enjoy this one ❣️

I’ve had to DNF this at 10%. I just couldn’t get over the writing, it was very repetitive even for just being 6 chapters in and I felt like the author was over describing things. I was really excited to read a new romantic suspense book, but this one just wasn’t for me sadly.

I’d like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Romantic suspense has been really scratching an itch for me recently so I jumped at the chance to ARC-read Mine for a Moment by Mimi Gunn, the first book in the Rosebud Ranch series of interconnected standalones.

I binged it in one go the day after receiving my ARC approval, and had a good time with it! I wanted more of the suspense side of things in the first half, but it absolutely kicked in during the second half. The first half was heavy with Colette and Marshall's instant attraction for each other. I think some of those scenes with Marshall trying not to go after Colette in the first half could have been streamlined a bit because they did repeat a few times, but once he made his move, the book really found its footing.

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley but this is my voluntary and honest review.

I love a good cowboy, even more when they are theoretically in my backyard 😉 This cowboy ranch is set in Alberta, where I live, so I’ll admit I’m a little biased in my opinion of this book. It’s always fun to read about places you’ve actually been to!

Mimi Gunn definitely name drops some recognizable places in Calgary and Alberta. But the depiction of Rosebud Ranch and the town of Rosebud, were so warm and welcoming. I’d definitely move there! The addition of some particularly adorable animals would make this decision very easy too.

This book overall felt very cozy to me. The author combined two of my favourite cozy genres too, small-town romance and cozy mystery, which makes for an unforgettable read.

Colette and Marshall’s love story felt tender and dreamy. There was an old-fashioned, “going steady” kind of vibe to the start of their relationship and to how it deepens. Colette starts out a bit down-on-her luck but quickly proves to be a strong and smart woman who isn’t shy about going for what she wants. And Marshall… not only is he a good cowboy, working hard at managing his family’s ranch, but he’s overall just a good boy. Usually cowboys are grumpy in these romances. But Marshall is an emotionally intelligent, soft, and thoughtful man. The vulnerability in his character was so refreshing to read. But don’t let that make you believe this cowboy doesn’t have a dirty mouth, because he definitely does and this book got spicy! It’s not overly explicit but it’s hot and works so well for Colette and Marshall.

The mystery plot that was weaved in with the romance was interesting as well. It definitely keeps you on your toes and there are heart clenching moments with some endearing characters of this small town.

For me personally, this book felt too long. It was a bit slow to start and some chapters just read quite long for me. This might have to do with the POV of this book, which is 3rd person. I’m more used to romances being in 1st person, so it was difficult to switch modes in the beginning. But I also did read this as an ARC, so take that with a grain of salt!

Thank you so much to the author, NetGalley and Love Notes PR for a chance to read this book early 💕

I didn’t like this book. I always feel bad for saying this, but it happens. The only reason I gave this 3 stars instead of 2 is because of the crime aspect.

Let’s start with what I did like. The crime aspect of this book was amazing. I was on the edge of my seat during all the crime scenes. I was trying to guess who did it but couldn’t figure it out. The reveal left me shocked!

I also really liked Evan (not the MMC). He was so cute and such a good guy. If the next book is about him, I’ll probably read it, just because I liked him the most in this book.

Okay, on to what I didn’t like. I’ll try to keep it short.
- The characters felt superficial
- I couldn’t connect with anyone
- The romance part felt ickish
- I’m sorry, but what is Marshall for a possessive asshole..? ‘If I can’t have her, no one can’ in a bad way…
Collette wanted to bake cookies for the team to introduce herself as the new employee. Simply because Marshall didn’t want other guys to ‘see’ her, he just told her they wouldn’t eat the cookies?? Dude? And then, when she decided to ignore him and bake the cookies anyway, he took ALL the cookies for himself??? Dude. He gave me the ick with his possessiveness.

Okay, maybe I just really disliked Marshall, but that resulted in disliking the book.

This is a fish-out-of-water romance that sees the city girl fall for the country boy while weaving in suspense elements. There are some sweet scenes and an overarching mystery for the reader to try and solve alongside the protagonists.

While it has an interesting enough plot, the writing style just wasn’t my cup of tea. There was repetitive back-and-forth internal dialogue that left me frustrated with the characters. It felt like the characters were mostly in their own heads at the expense of interaction with each other.

I read an ARC via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

I am not a huge thriller/suspense kind of book person, so I was very intrigued by how this suspense romance would be and it was actually very good!

This book has that small town/ranch feel mixed with a romance and mystery. It is in third person which made it slightly hard to follow at first, but once you get used to it the book flowed nicely. Being a romance gal, I obviously enjoyed watching the MMC and FMC fall for each other. But the mystery tangled into this story was just an added bonus!

Marshall is your reformed playboy who ends up working on his family’s ranch. He takes over finances when their book keeper leaves abruptly, and things slowly start going downhill. Insert Colette, who got let go of her city job and gets hired to help with the finances on the King’s ranch. When Colette finds that there are some holes in the finances and things aren’t adding up, she feels responsible to help Marshall and the King family figure out what’s going on. The ranch life isn’t exactly for Colette, but her presence is addicting to Marshall. She slowly gets under his skin and he can’t keep her away. Of course they give in to the fight of their attraction to each other. And together they solve the mystery of what’s happening on the ranch.

I really enjoyed Marshall and Colette’s wanting of each other, and the little teases they give each other. Their budding relationship was sweet, caring, and just spicy enough!

The suspense is sprinkled in throughout the book, and the parts you do get are really good. They will get you wondering “who did it” and keep you flipping the pages faster.

This was an ARC read for me, and these are my honest opinions.

Thank you Mimi Gunn for the review copy of this book and trusting me as part of your team.

Mine for a Moment follows city girl Colette who's been made redundant from her job and find a new temp job working out what's gone wrong with the accounts at Rosebud Ranch. She is determined to do the job then get back to her life but fate has other plans when she starts to know Marshall our grumpy male lead who is bearing the burden of things going wrong at the ranch. There's cows, there's karaoke and there's even a touch of murder in this wonderful book which leaves you wanting more from this series. I personally can't wait to read the next book!

I knew I would love Mine for a Moment from the first chapter. It has a perfect blend of small town cowboy vibes with a twist of suspense and it blends romance and suspense/mystery in a way that isn't always easy. The plot and pacing is good, the world building/ scene setting is well managed and the characters are perfection. The spice was well done, though it's definitely on the spicier side of things than some others I've read but it was well blended and not excessive.

I am fairly new to cowboy romances and this one was amazing for me as it blended cowboy with mystery which is a favourite genre of mine. So glad I signed up for this one and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who enjoys cowboy romances and anyone who enjoys a good mystery novel as both are catered to well.

When's the next one out???

Mimi!! These two were so unbelievably sweet I could hardly handle it. 🥹

Colette loses her city job and reluctantly takes a position as an accountant at Rosebud Ranch… not realizing her life is about to change in the best (and most complicated) way.

Marshall, on the other hand, feels like the family disappointment. The ranch is struggling, and no matter how hard he works, he can’t figure out why. So when his grandfather hires an accountant to sort out the finances, it hits him hard. To Marshall, it feels like proof that he’s already failed.

But when Colette arrives, it doesn’t take long for her to realize something is seriously wrong with the ranch’s finances. She’s determined to uncover the truth… if only the broody, frustratingly handsome cowboy running the place didn’t keep completely wrecking her focus.

The tension between these two? Absolutely electric. You could feel the longing in every page. The slow burn was delicious, and I adored the way Colette playfully pushed Marshall, teasing him just enough to make him unravel. The angst was everything, the kind that makes your heart ache in the best way.

And when we finally get that “to hell with it” moment… whew. 🔥 Let’s just say the spice did not disappoint. My swooning levels were in full activation mode the entire time. 🫠

Honestly, it was the perfect blend of romance that makes your heart flutter, spice that gives you goosebumps, and just enough murder mystery to keep you turning the pages. The ultimate combo. 🔥❤️🔎

Thank you Mimi for the advanced copy to read 🫶

ARC Review! Mine for a Moment is the first interconnected standalone in the Rosebud Ranch Series. A romantic suspense blending spicy romance and intriguing mystery.

Colette arrived at Rosebud Ranch for a simple accounting short-term contract, but her grumpy, stubborn (and very attractive) boss, Marshall, quickly complicates things. As she digs into the ranch’s messy finances, the numbers don’t add up and neither do the secrets.

When an employee turns up dead, their investigation takes a dangerous turn. With suspicion closing in and tension rising between them, Marshall will do anything to protect Colette.

I love a romance that blends thriller vibes! This was such a fun read and the dual POV fit in perfectly to give you a glimpse of how they really feel. I enjoyed the tension that Colette and Marshall had early on. Their storyline didn’t feel rushed and it kept me wanting to know more. It was a spot on mix of romance and cozy mystery.

Mine for a Moment by Mimi Gunn was a pleasure to read before its release! Although I didn’t quite finish before the release but I did finish it & I can say that it was slow at first but the romance & suspense to what was happening on the ranch had me hooked.

I needed to know what was happening to the finances & the people on the ranch & that’s what got me to the end of the book. Marshall being a reformed play boy & Collette being a woman who never was shown her worth, are the perfect pair because Marshall showed her how much he cared & she was able to change him for the better. I did not see the twist toward the end but it sure kept me on my toes!
I really enjoyed this book & I hope you have a chance to read it too!

If you are looking for a cozy romance full of suspense and mystery, you’ve got to pick this one up.

Marshall is a reformed playboy, running his family’s ranch. Colette is a city girl and a newly unemployed accountant looking for her next step. So of course, Colette moves to the ranch to work on cleaning up the mess that is their books. But as Colette uncovers even more unexplainable things happening on the ranch, she finds herself turning to the one person who can help her figure it out.

Marshall and Colette have undeniable chemistry but how can they make it work when their lives are so different? Will they be able to solve the mystery of what is going on at the ranch? Grab a copy of Mine for a Moment to find out!!

Mine For A Moment was so good. I loved the romance-y beginning of the characters meeting and trying to not give in to temptation. Then the slow building of their relationship as we see something nefarious might be going on at the ranch. Once the suspense kicked in full force there were definitely moments that had me holding my breath. I am in love with Marshall and Collette and their story. Highly recommend!

Mine for a Moment grabbed me from page one. Equal parts swoony romance and clever whodunit. Colette’s sharp, numbers first personality and grumpy but protective Marshall make a sizzling, believable pair, and the mystery adds some real stakes. Pacing stalls a touch in the middle, but strong chemistry and tidy twists keep it enjoyable. Definitely recommended for readers who like cowboy heat with a mystery twist.

I can't say no to a romance with a little bit of mystery. Gotta say, I've been watching enough mysteries to guess who caused the problems.
You follow Jake, the ranch owner, and Colette, an accountant. Their personalities were such a good balance. It was fun and flirty. They found one another in their loneliness. Honestly, they both had such great support systems that made the characters relatable with how they got to this moment

ADVANCE READING COPY FROM NETGALLEY. Thanks!

All the tropes: Cowboy, small-town romance, big city girl - she moves to the country, he plants a whole FIELD of flowers that match the color of her eyes ♥️, murder-mystery with an accountant saving the day?, whodunnit, good time. This book was never boring and I definitely don’t regret the read!

The hospital scenes could have used a medical writer/editor because who says, “I’m going to top your IV off with these pain meds” like you’re refilling a glass of wine? Please.

Mimi Gunn's MINE FOR A MOMENT unfolds with an accountant arriving at a ranch to sort out a financial problem, which leads to a gripping and curiously addicting story in which numbers, longing thoughts, and mistrust coexist under the expansive Alberta skies! Colette Slip to Rosebud Ranch predicting spreadsheets and receipts, but each page swings back and forth from peaceful routine to something far more unnerving. The ranch was precisely crafted as background with roaming cattle, restless horses, and a red barn that tended to harbor mysteries inside its wooden bones!
.
Against this pastoral peace, pressure builds up like thunder sweeping across broad fields. The story gradually becomes an entertaining and extraordinary eruption of intrigue and catastrophe and love. Mimi Gunn's novels have a knack for dwelling me in a labyrinth of emotions. with each turn of the page, I'm intrifued by a masterful lasso of feelings, ranging from the warmth of laughter to the depths of sorrow, and passing through the turbulence of rage and the euphoria of swooning. MINE FOR A MOMENT was no exception to this rule, it was beautifully emotional, but I've read all of Mimi's work and I can honestly say that this is Mimi's finest prose, finest story, finest romance, and it has such a lyrically outstanding prose that I DEVOURED in one sitting!
.
Colette and Marshall handle the novel's poignant heft with an approach that becomes remarkably proprioceptive, like when two people recognize each other's presence before words are spoken! Marshall, the strong rancher with a surprising tenderness, walks through the story with the cautious trust of a man who understands unconditional love better than he does his own heart! Colette is a flawless pair ffor him, brilliant with figures, quick with wisdom, and brave when the ranch's darker corners come to light, their enchantment saturates through the pages with a gradual, romantic heat, built up through delicate hints, flowers on a first date, protecting stares, and stubborn denial all deliver a psychological challenge that is almost impossible to stay away from!
.
Nevertheless, romance is only one half of the engine in this novel, a suspected death ruptures inside the ranch community, and an orderly examination becomes a search for the truth, the mystery element feels thoroughly planted, with missing financial documents, unknown motives, and the unsettling knowledge that danger may be far closer than thought, the pace design picks up dramatically in the later part of the story, leading to a compulsive urge that makes the last chapters nearly impossible to put down, this truly was a page-turner, suspicion travels from character to character like the gusting breeze across tall grass, upsetting every relationship on the ranch!
.
For me, the atmosphere encompassing the forefront of romance and mystery is remarkabl, the small Alberta village unfolds with tenderness, lively seniors at the bakery, adoring neighbors, and adorable animals named Pablo Picasso and Hank, this setting provides a cozy atmosphere that contrasts wonderfully with the creeping sense of danger that runs throughout the story, even as the plot becomes mysterious, its emotional poignancy stays hopeful, supported by trust, loyalty, and the strength of two individuals learning to count at one another! The novel is such an engaging, entertaining, and unexpectedly poignant start to the Rosebud Ranch series, Mimi Gunn's finest novel yet to date!!!

Blurb recap 📖

Marshall runs his family’s ranch. Their trusted bookkeeper suddenly quit and they’re looking for a new one. Colette is unemployed and finds herself a new job as an accountant for his family business. She moves to their ranch and starts to figure out that a lot of things aren’t making sense in their finances.

Living close by, Marshall and Colette start developing some feelings for each other and soon enough their chemistry is undeniable. However, how would they make it work when his life is there at the ranch, while hers would be back in the city after she’s done with her work?

My thoughts 💭 4.5 ⭐️📖

I had a great time reading this book! I loved the mix of romance & suspense. All the the sweet, cute, flirty and funny moments between Colette & Marshall + the ongoing mystery of “where’s the money going” and the murder mystery all added to a good reading experience where I’m trying to figure out who’s done it. Well, my guess was right, and there I had my AH-HA moment, so maybe I would’ve liked it more to have had a hard time trying to guess and not so predictable. But maybe for others it wasn’t predictable. Perspective, right?

The story left me with a warm feeling. I had fun, I giggled and I adored the pet scenes with Hank, the dog & Pablo Picasso, the cat. Also Regina George, the cat. They add cuteness to the story. I liked reading the family dynamics, as well.

I enjoyed the development of Colette & Marshall’s relationship. It was flirty, fun, sweet and genuine. I wasn’t completely utterly satisfied/in love to make it a higher rating but anyways I had a good time and that’s what matters. They were a little escape to the ranch to enjoy a good dose of small town romance + suspense and the cowboy x city girl trope that I adore.

The epilogue was very sweet! I love seeing how couples are doing sometime after the story ends, and I was happy with how it turned out for them.

Also, I have to highlight that he planted a whole field of flowers for her. Not only that, the flowers match the color of her eyes. Blue. 💙🥹

ARC REVIEW

This book was a very cute cowboy romance sprinkled with murder mystery, lost documents and very lovely horses, like Viny:)

First of all, I have to say that I looove the cover. It's so cute, all the pastel colours, flowers and Marshall with Colette are so beautiful!!!!

Now talking about the story:
1) I liked the grumpy sunshine duo here. The playboy turned grumpy rancher with a strong love to his ranch and a lost sunshine financier who loves herself a cute rose pajamas. The forbidden attraction and that yearning was very sweet to read to, the tension that was simmering between them so delicious! The dynamics of them were the best: Marshall the sweet soul that he is with his devotion, and patience, and loyalty, and all his bouquet of flowers on a first date, aww. And Colette the flirty a little shy beauty who was always there for him when he needed it the most.
2) the story was interesting - the small town, ranch, cowboys and a big big finance problem. And the subplot (yes, I would call it that, cause though it was one of the most important parts of the book, the attention to it was given less than I would have expected) of the mystery that surrounded the ranch, the lost numbers in finance documents, and then the mysterious person who wants to destroy everything made this story more intriguing, layered and complicated in the best ways. I just wish this storyline would have been explored and expanded more, cause it added such a good flavor to the whole book. Nevertheless I really enjoyed it as it was.
3) This book felt like a warm cozy blanket, with a little bit of mysterious aura about it. I giggled a lot, had a great time reading cause of all the sweet and cute moments. I loved the Marshall and Colette's couple, their chemistry and their sweet sweet love. Besides the animals here were such a great addition to the story. Even the names were sooo great - Pablo Picasso the cat or Hank the dog. You'll have to read the book to meet more of them, cause I promise the other are such sweethearts as well:)

A celkom sklamanie. 😕 To však neznamená, že kniha bola zlá! Mala naozaj skvelý potenciál, no škoda, že nevyužitý.

V prvom rade chcem vyzdvihnúť postavu Marshalla.

Ocenila by som, keby detektívna a romantická linka plynuli spolu – nejaká nútená blízkosť by to možno vyriešila.

This book was absolutely right up my street. I’m an absolute sucker for the “cowboy falls for the city girl” trope, and Mine for a Moment delivered exactly the kind of story I love getting lost in.

From the very beginning, I was drawn into the contrast between the two main characters and their very different worlds. The rugged, grounded cowboy paired with a city girl stepping into a completely new environment made for such a fun and engaging dynamic. I loved watching their relationship unfold — the push and pull between them felt natural, and their chemistry was there right from the start.

Mimi Gunn’s writing style is easy to read and really flows, which made this such an enjoyable and quick read. It had that perfect balance of sweet, romantic moments and just enough tension to keep things interesting without becoming too heavy. There were so many scenes that genuinely made me smile, and I found myself rooting for them the whole way through.

What I especially enjoyed was how the setting added to the story. The cowboy lifestyle and atmosphere gave it that cosy, escapist feel, and it really helped bring the romance to life. It’s the kind of book you pick up when you want something comforting, romantic, and a little bit dreamy.

The reason this is a 4-star read for me rather than 5 is that I did find myself wanting a bit more depth in certain emotional moments. At times, I would have loved to see the characters’ feelings explored a little further to make those key scenes hit even harder. A few elements of the plot also felt slightly predictable, but honestly, that’s part of the charm with this kind of trope and didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.

Overall, Mine for a Moment is a really lovely, feel-good romance that I’d definitely recommend — especially if, like me, you love a cowboy romance with a city girl twist. It’s warm, engaging, and exactly the kind of story you can happily escape into for a few hours.

"What's so funny?" / "I'm laughing because I don't stand a chance with you. Rules or no rules, there's nothing that could keep me away from you right now."

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

Out of a job, city-girl Colette Slip ends up at Rosebud Ranch, helping Marshall King sort out an accounting mystery. She knows this is temporary, but can't help leaning in when sparks fly, even when the mystery ends up more deadly than either could every imagine.

I was drawn in by the summary and cover - it is too gorgeous! And I love a suspense/mystery plot, and this one really draws you in. Colette is brought to Rosebud Ranch to help the grumpy (ex-playboy) rancher Marshall King sort out some financial payments that have messed up his accounting (and as someone with a love of spreadsheets as well, I was drawn to Colette!) Only for the mystery to turn deadly, when a friend winds up murdered and leads going nowhere. That aspect of the book grabbed my attention - the mark it makes on the small town and ranch feels really effective and the sense of dread as they wonder if they're safe was well done.

I also really enjoyed the way Marshall was down so bad for Colette, the man was YEARNING! The fact he was such a player in the past and yet was immediately smitten had my heart - I was hoping they would find a way to be together. And there's a certain scene at the end that was too cute!

Where I got a little lost was in some of internal dialogue, which felt a little repetitive at times, and some of the humor. I would have loved more depth to them getting to know each other, over just the intense surface-level attraction - but I did enjoy the cast of characters and there were definitely a lot of sweet moments that shone.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mind for a Moment had several elements that immediately caught my attention. The premise of a city girl finding herself on a ranch, combined with a cowboy love interest and a hinted mystery, promised (me, apparently) an engaging mix of romance and intrigue. Unfortunately, the execution didn't quite live up to that potential.

One of the most noticeable issues was the lack of editing this book has. Several scenes felt disjointed, with chapters moving back and forth in time without clear transitions. At times, moments that seemed to take place days apart were followed by chapters that suddenly returned to the previous evening. This created confusion and disrupted the overall flow of the story.

The novel is also marketed with a mystery element, but the plot remains fairly predictable throughout. The narrative follows a straightforward path, and the mystery never develops enough to generate real tension or surprise.

In terms of characterization, the protagonists felt underdeveloped. From both perspectives, the narrative focuses almost entirely on their attraction to each other. As a result, we are given very little insight into who they are outside of the romance. Their personalities, motivations, and personal lives remain largely unexplored, which makes it difficult to fully connect with them.

That said, the ranch setting and the “city girl meets cowboy” dynamic had clear appeal, and readers who enjoy trope-driven romances may still find something to enjoy here. Nonetheless, don't rely too much on the mystery.

Overall, while the premise showed promise, the story would have benefited from tighter editing, clearer timeline management, and deeper character development.

Mine for a Moment🪻
Firstly,I want to thank LoveNotes PR & Mimi Gunn for trusting me with this ARC!💜
Colette needs to find a job and clean up her finances.NOT to fall in love and for sure NOT to be involved in solving a murder.
Marshall is in need of an accountant, and maybe he needs something more than that.Something that only Colette can give him.

THAT WAS AMAZING.Literally a full emotional roller coaster,I GASPED, FELL IN LOVE ,GIGGLED MY FEET in a span of a 400 page story.
To start with,I want to point out how much I loved the writing that this book had.She took two really demanding genres that we usually see separate, and not only combined them perfectly, but also did not made them tangled up in a way that would be hard for the reader. That is what I personally call a writing talent.
Now,into our couple.
Colette was the finance queen that really saved the day in the end.I could not ever imagine reading a book that accounting could play such a role, but here we are!Jokes aside,I loved her whole character and how everything was connected with her.On the other side,Marshall has that cowboy energy that made me be like OMGG. &,yes you will definitely love him.🐎
Their romance, was so,so good since scenes were given to us already from the early chapters,& had amazing communication that I personally found so hot. Also,it was what made me say that we have an impeccable romance here.✨
Long story short,if you want a romance with a 'everyone is connected' twist,Mine for a Moment is exactly what you are looking for.
