Remember Me: A Novel

Rate this book
Gabriel is running from a fire that left his life in Chicago in ashes. He just didn't expect to run straight into the flame that would burn him down again.

In Bogotá, Gabriel seeks sanctuary in the curated world of Diego, a wealthy pilot who offers a fortress of glass—safe, sterile, and far removed from the chaos of the streets. But the numbness he craves is shattered the moment he steps into a crowded plaza and locks eyes with Mateo: a man with a smile that defies his circumstances.

A Venezuelan refugee surviving on the margins, Mateo is everything Diego is raw, scarred, and dangerously alive. He carries his trauma on his skin, a mirror to Gabriel’s own fractured soul. What begins as a chance meeting between two men ignites into a forbidden romance that defies the boundaries of class and borders.

Para días grises, paraguas de colores. For gray days, colorful umbrellas.

But love is a liability under the weight of a humanitarian crisis. As Mateo’s safety hangs by a thread, Gabriel must make an impossible retreat to his glass tower and survive, or risk everything for a man who might already be a ghost.

Visceral and devastatingly romantic, Remember Me is a work of literary fiction that explores the enduring resilience of the human spirit—who we become when the world tries to erase us—and what we are willing to lose to ensure we are not forgotten.

Perfect for fans of contemporary fiction who love stories about healing and shared humanity.

A beautiful story of someone who has already experienced loss, typically picks the safe route and is used to not being chosen who does the complete opposite. The characters in this book are very relatable to each family you meet and the story will resonate with many. You can tell the author has put an immense amount of research into this based on the details within the story. Definitely give this a read!!

A book of fiction! A real-life historical events regarding crises in Venezuela involving Mateo and Gabriel! Gabriel is from Chicago and was in Columbia visiting his ex-boyfriend. Mateo was from Venezuela and was working on the streets of Columbia selling things and Gabrielle came by where he was and immediately by his friendliness had an instant connection with him' Gabriele had broken up from Diego and was staying in Columbia trying to decide what he wanted out of life! A lot of ups and downs with different lifestyles between Mateo and Gabrielle and falling in love, but after the death of Mateo, in the end Gabrielle learned how to look and treat people from other countries from a different perspective and actually adopted a little boy!
