Ava Sterling has always lived a sheltered life. As an only child whose father was strict and controlling, she’s used to never being given a choice. When she learns that she’s being married off in an arranged marriage, she is devastated. But she’s also angry. And she vows to ditch Luca Castellano the moment the opportunity to escape arises.
Dominic Hale and Ava grew up next door to each other. They were in love as teenagers, but Ava pushed Dominic away, terrified that her father would find out. Dominic stayed away, because he thought that was what Ava wanted.
When Dominic sees Ava on Luca Castellano’s arm, he knows he has to intervene. He swoops in, ready to come to her rescue. He lost her once, and he doesn’t plan on making the same mistake twice.
It’s clear that the feelings are still there for both of them. But when Ava’s past starts to creep in, and outside forces try to tear them apart, will their love be enough to survive?

Sinful Secrets was such an addictive, emotional ARC and I’m so glad I read it.

Ava’s story pulled me in from page one — growing up sheltered, controlled, and never allowed to choose for herself. Watching her finally step into her own power was beautiful. Her strength felt real, earned, and messy in the best way.

And Dominic?
I loved how their second-chance connection felt raw and unfinished, like their hearts had been waiting for the moment they finally collided again. He was protective without being overbearing, and their chemistry hit every single time.

The arranged marriage tension, the danger creeping in from Ava’s past, and the way outside forces kept testing them made the whole story feel high-stakes and emotional. Through it all, the book showed how love can be both a refuge and a fight — and how freedom is something you have to choose.

I loved the book, and I loved what I learned from it:
✨ you’re allowed to choose yourself
✨ real love doesn’t control — it protects and supports
✨ some connections are too deep to break

A beautiful, gripping read. Highly recommend. 📚💗

3.25 stars.

Received as an arc and even tho the story is violent yet steamy, the writing was repetitive. I expect from a Mafia romance that the sex be a little more meatier. It was explicit but I thought the sex scenes were short and dry. I expect to be clenching my thighs, that’s how I personally know that the sex is phenomenal. Now this is the 2nd mafia romance I’ve read, so I’m giving it 3.25 stars for the change and growth from both characters. Clearly they love each other and it’s sweet that Dominic has a soft spot but let’s turn it up a notch.

Sinful Secrets by EM Rose is a quick paced, mafia adjacent, story about danger, second chances and a MMC that would burn the world for her.

I really enjoyed the pacing on this story and how quickly it evolved, keeping in pace with the high stakes drama with Ava and Dominic’s story. The mystery surrounding Ava’s life and the lengths Dominic goes through to keep her safe, while figuring it all out, is intense. Ava’s quiet determination to keep Dominic safe at her own peril is brave. This had me on the edge of my seat! The spice was hot! 🥵

Sinful Secrets by E.M. Rose is a slow-burn, secret-laced dark romance that leans heavily into emotional intensity, devotion, and morally grey choices. From the opening chapter, the story draws you into Dom and Ava’s shared past and refuses to let go.

This is very much a second-chance romance, rooted in an off-page childhood connection that explains the depth of feeling between the characters early on. While their relationship occasionally borders on insta-love, the history between them makes it believable and emotionally grounded. There’s a sense that these two have never truly let go of one another, even when circumstances forced them apart.

Ava took a little time for me to warm up to. She’s stubborn, fiercely loyal, and determined to fix everyone else’s problems while ignoring her own pain. That said, her emotional arc is one of the most rewarding aspects of the book. Watching her strength unfold gradually, rather than all at once, made her feel real and human by the end.

Dom is where this book truly shines. He’s the definition of a morally grey hero, walking a razor-thin line between danger and devotion. There’s a quiet intensity to him, a sense that he’s constantly holding himself back for the sake of the woman he loves. His protectiveness never feels casual; it’s absolute, unwavering, and deeply tied to his identity. If possessive but emotionally driven MMCs are your weakness, Dom will hit every note.

What I appreciated most was the pacing of the secrets. E.M. Rose allows revelations to unfold gradually, giving each one emotional weight rather than rushing toward shock value. Every interaction between Dom and Ava, whether tense, tender, or confrontational, feels charged with unresolved history and longing. Their chemistry builds slowly, simmering beneath the surface until it finally ignites.

The writing is vivid and intentional, paired with a pace that never loses momentum, and the emotional stakes remain high from start to finish. The romance feels intense but purposeful, and the spice is well balanced, enhancing the connection rather than overwhelming it.

If you enjoy dark romance with slow-burn tension, morally grey devotion, and a hero who would burn the world down for the woman he loves, Sinful Secrets is well worth the read.

Thank you so much to the author for the opportunity to read this as an ARC for my honest opinion and review!

Ava Sterling is back in my orbit, and she’s mine. I will never let her go again.

This book has all the things I love: an obsessed and protective hero, a sweet heroine, action, suspense, spice, and drama. It was a quick, exciting read, and quite a bit happened in just a small amount of time.

These characters were great. I love that Dominic didn’t ever try to hide his feelings. He comes to her rescue and is just like yeah we’re together now. My favorite thing an MMC can be is obsessed lol.

I can’t live without her. I don’t want to live without her. She’s my everything.

Ava was such an interesting character. She’s sweet and innocent in the outside, but even though she’s inexperienced, she knows what she wants in the bedroom.

“Fuck, Aves,” Dom mutters. “You want to be a mindless little slvt for me? Just here for my pleasure?”

(Excuse me?? That's so hot)

She also holds a lot of darkness within her:

He doesn’t know how much I like pain. How much I crave it. Need it.

And this poor, sweet girl. At one point she's asked what food she likes and she realizes no one has ever asked her what she likes before, regarding anything. It also seems she struggles a bit with self-confidence. She doesn’t think someone like Dom could love someone like her. Meanwhile, Dom’s always loved her and doesn’t plan to stop.

They have their second chance to be together, and though they’re older than they were the first time they were together, they're still quite young and both have learning and growing to do, especially when it comes to communication (don’t we all lol). They both want so badly to protect one another and they’re struggling to figure out how to do it while not pushing the other away. It was great to see where they started and how much they grew as a pair, but also individually.

Overall, this was a very entertaining and fast-paced read! Thank you so much to E.M. Rose for providing an ARC!

I never imagined that I could be happy like this–it’s such a foreign feeling to me, but I love it. And I never want it to go away.

This book had all the ingredients I usually love the childhood friends to lovers, rekindled tension, protective MMC, high-stakes family drama, but I kept finding myself asking the same question over and over: girl… do you even like him or not?

Ava’s situation is genuinely heartbreaking, and I completely understand her need for choice after living under her father’s control. And Dom’s anger? Also understandable. He’s confused, frustrated, and trying (badly, but trying) to make sense of Ava’s decisions. But the way these two communicate… whew. It’s like watching the miscommunication trope play out simply because neither of them has any actual communication skills.

Whenever they stopped fighting long enough to just be together, their dynamic finally clicked. The soft moments were sweet and reminded me why I wanted to root for them in the first place. But they never lasted, immediately followed by more bickering, more defensiveness, and more avoidable conflict. The back-and-forth got tiring fast.

⚠️ Spoiler / Content Note:
Ava confesses that after being forced to stop seeing Dom as a teen, she fell into depression and self-harm. That’s a serious topic, but the way it was handled felt… off. Instead of exploring her emotional history or giving that moment the weight it deserved, it’s brought up casually. Almost in the same breath as revealing she has a pain kink. The framing was strange and a little jarring, especially for something so sensitive. It didn’t feel integrated into her emotional arc; it just appeared and then moved on.

💭 Overall:
There’s a strong story buried under all the miscommunication and reactive behavior. The premise is compelling, the tension is there, and the chemistry sparks in the rare moments they let their walls down. But the constant fighting, uneven dialogue, and the way some heavy topics were presented kept me from fully connecting.

If you enjoy messy second-chance angst, jealous MMCs, and couples who can’t stay away from each other even when they probably should… this one might be for you. I just needed a bit more emotional clarity and a lot less circular arguing.

An Addictive, Sinful, Slow-Burn Masterpiece
Sinful Secrets by E.M. Rose grabbed me from the very first page and refused to let go. Dom and Ava’s story isn’t just another dark romance it feels raw, intimate, and beautifully messy in all the ways that make a forbidden love story unforgettable.

Dom is the kind of morally gray hero who walks that razor-thin line between danger and devotion. There’s this quiet intensity to him, like he’s constantly holding back a storm he doesn’t trust himself to unleash. And Ava… she’s the perfect match for that storm. Strong, soft, stubborn, and breaking in ways she refuses to show. Their chemistry is the kind that doesn’t just spark it ignites, slowly and torturously, until the tension practically vibrates off the page.

What I loved most is how E.M. Rose lets their secrets peel back layer by layer. Every reveal hits with emotional weight, and every moment between Dom and Ava whether they’re fighting, flirting, or trying to deny what’s so obviously inevitable feels charged and real. Their relationship builds with this irresistible push and pull that kept me up way too late just trying to get one more chapter.

The writing is lush without ever being overdone, the pacing is addictive, and the emotional stakes stay high from start to finish. And the spice? Perfectly balanced steamy, intense, and rooted in character instead of shock value.

If you love dark, secret-laced, slow-burn romance with a hero who would burn the world for the woman he swore he shouldn’t want, Sinful Secrets will absolutely devour you.
A bold, emotional, sinfully satisfying 5-star read. I’m already thinking about a re-read.

If you love slow burn, morally grey & possessive MMC that would burn the world down for his woman, mafia (adjacent), second chance romance, and a “touch her and die” trope, you will DEVOUR this.

I LOVED this book. I am a heavy romance/dark romance reader, so the trigger warnings didn’t phase me (I appreciate that they are included at the beginning of the book though) and I went into it ready for a while ride! Generally speaking, 4/5 stars all around!

I found Ava, the FMC a little difficult to like at first, but you just have to wait around for her and I promise she’s more likeable by the end. She’s stubborn, wants to save everyone but herself, and then there’s Dom…oh sweet cinnamon roll filthy-mouthed Dominic. Their relationship felt insta-lovey to me, BUT they have an off-page "childhood sweethearts" history together that makes it make sense. If deeply romantic, possessive vibes like “Ava Sterling is back in my orbit, and she’s mine. I will never let her go again,” are something you enjoy, you will absolutely eat this book up! Their chemistry is hot, their need to save one another is hotter, and with the promise of an HEA what do you have to lose?

The writing in the first half felt a bit choppy with lots of short sentences and quick thoughts that moved on without any transition, but I believe that’s just part of getting to know new-to-you authors and their writing styles. The story has a quick and engaging pace, and there’s a great balance of plot to smut! I thoroughly enjoyed it and will absolutely be recommending this to others!

Thank you E.M. Rose for my copy! This book releases on 1/13/26, and should definitely be on your TBR for the coming year!

*Sinful Secrets* by Em Rose was an engaging ARC read with strong pacing that made it easy to finish in about 24 hours. The story follows Ava and Dominic in a compelling second-chance romance that blends emotional growth, tension, and chemistry.

Ava grew up extremely sheltered, and Dominic wasn’t just her first boyfriend—he was one of her first and only friends. Despite her protected upbringing, Ava consistently tries to shield the people she loves, often putting their needs before her own. Dominic, on the other hand, fits the classic morally grey male lead. He is completely devoted to Ava, from rescuing her from an arranged marriage to protecting her when she struggles with herself. Their relationship shows real development as Dominic helps Ava learn vulnerability and communication, while he comes to understand that being an alpha isn’t about control—it’s about shared responsibility and mutual protection.

The chemistry between them is strong, and the dirty talk was especially well done, adding heat without overshadowing the emotional connection. Another standout element was how the author laid the groundwork for future books. The hints and setup made it fun to speculate about what’s coming next in the series.

Overall, it was a great read with solid pacing, strong character growth, and a promising foundation for future novels.

Tropes- Second Chance, Possessive MMC , Mafia adjacent, Touch her & Die, Found family, Forced Proximity, Spicyyyy

I enjoyed Dominic and Ava story so much, the chemistry, banter and spicy was just incredible and I loved the pacing of the book I just couldn’t get enough plus a great start to the series I can’t wait for more

Ava have been sheltered her whole life. Her mom left her when she was a baby and her dad never cared and now he’s marrying her off to someone and she’s angry. She and Dominic grew up next to each other and always loved each other but Ava pushed him away now he’s saving her from marrying someone else. I love Ava she’s so sweet but also stubborn and amazing! I will defend her to the ends of the earth. She just didn’t wanted anyone to risk their lives for her

Their chemistry was just chef kiss! Even after not talking for a couple of years their love just came back even stronger. Dominic saw her on Nico arm and he knew something was wrong and he had to do something to get her away from him. I loved how the by like 30% secrets just kept coming out from left to right

Dominic oh Dom he’s so filthy mouthed and also possessive when it comes to Ava like me next please lol. I love me a morally grey mmc that would do anything for the love of his life definitely going on that book boyfriend list

I can’t wait for the next book of the series and find out more about some of my favorite side characters cause they had me hooked. The found family in this series was amazing I couldn’t get enough

Thank You For giving me this arc it was amazing!

A Second Chance Worth Fighting For 🥰

Ava was brought up to be a timid little miss by her father. He didn’t anticipate her secretly seeing Dominic. When he catches them together he threatens to harm Dominic which frightens Ava giving her no choice but to end their relationship to protect him. A few years later Dominic sees her again by Luca’s side who’s an unwanted mafia presence. When he finds out that they are engaged he immediately steps in and this time Dominic vows to never let Ava go. Ava who’s been constantly controlled all her life resists Dominic because she’s afraid her past won’t let her have a future. Two people that fell in love as teenagers who are brought back together under less than ideal circumstances. The story is reminiscent of a knight in shining armor with modern twists. A few plot points that left some interesting details kept the story going. Hilarious at times but also serious banter gave a sense of who the main characters are. The side characters were good additions. Notes of mental health, trauma, unrelenting emotions, violence, parental abuse, second chances and found family support the storyline. The naughty scenes were 🥵! This is on the lighter side of a dark romance with shock value that’s a slow and steady burn.🔥

I devoured this. And I had to fight tears multiple times.

Thus girl has a fuck*d up hand of cards we call life. Her dad wasn’t worth anything and her mom was maybe worse. Like I loathe that woman!!!

The one guy she wanted she thought.. key word.., THOUGHT she couldn’t have because her dad made her believe she had no choice. That she didn’t deserve anything. Again we were fighting tears.

How does she cope? Not in a good way and my heart was hurting for this girl.

Some things happen, she runs into her man that wasn’t her man anymore but yeah, kinda messed up how he gets her back but I understand why he did it.

Fast forward, her mom comes back causing all kinds of BS and being sneaky to try and get her way. Like what kind of mother does that?! Again we loathe dislike hate whatever you want to call it, we don’t like her!!

Now after her attempts to get her way and putting our girl thru more sh!t I guess you can say we get a HEA.

There’s trauma, healing and I mean I can relate.

Some heavy subjects are touched but it works out and i HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU READ WHEN IT COMES OUT.

Excuse me while I fight tears again

This book has it all. The FMC Ava has known the MMC Dom since they were kids.

This finds Ava hating the guided cage that she has felt she's been her whole life. Her mother left her with her "father" when she was with her "father" when she was an infant and there is no love lost between her and her parents. Ava is shocked when her father tells her that she will be marrying Luca and this is when Dominic shows back up in her life.

Dominic has been in love with Ava since they were teens but she knew that her father would harm Dom if he knew about their relationship so she lied and told him she did not want to be with him. Dom has always really known in his heart that she did not mean it but he backed away anyway.
There is so much going on in this book and it kept me totally invested the whole time!

Will Ava's mother finally show back up, and if so WHY??? Will Ava and Dom get their HEA??

You need to read to find out!!
You will not be disappointed. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this ARC @emroseauthor

✰ ARC REVIEW ✰

Okay…. I devoured this book.

From the very first chapter I was completely locked in. Ava and Dom’s connection feels messy, intense and so painfully real. Their relationship isn’t perfect — it’s unhinged, obsessive, protective to fault — but that’s exactly what made it impossible to look away.

Ava’s situation broke my heart. You can feel how trapped she is, how badly she wants control over her own life. And then there’s Dom, who has clearly loved her his whole life and would burn down the world to keep her safe. He makes questionable choices, sure, but the love behind them? It hits hard.

The longing, the tension, the history between them — it all just works. I found myself rooting for them even when everything around them was falling apart.

I genuinely loved this story, every chaotic, emotional, spicy second of it. If you love intense romance with real stakes and characters who will fight tooth and nail for each other, I highly recommend 🤍🔥

Morally grey men are my downfall. Dominic Hale is definitely that. He would burn the world down for her.
This book was unputdownable had it read in just a few hours.
Ava and Dom grew up living next door to each other.
Ava lived under a controlling father. Her mother had left when she was like 3 abandoning her. Ava broke Dom’s heart to protect him from her father.
Years later Dom was still in love with Ava. He saved her from an arranged marriage. He takes her away to hide her until they figured it out.
She gets taken and Dom is angry with himself and the world until he rescues her from her estranged mom and her mom’s boyfriend(which is the guy she was supposed to marry). She discovers that they were trying to use her to breed a male heir.
Dom kills the man and her mom’s boyfriend gets away.
Dom and Ava get there happily ever after though.
Lots of plot and plenty of spice. Great fast read!

I received this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really liked this book. It was a quick and easy read and flowed rather nicely. Some parts felt really rushed but honestly that didn’t dim the story at all. It makes sense why it was written the way it was. In the end everything came full circle.

Ava took some warming up for me. I understand why she was the way she was in the beginning but sometimes I just wanted to reach into the book and shake her. However, her emotional arc was a thing of beauty the way she finally came into her own and allowed herself to love and be loved and realize her own personal strength was so fun for me to read!

Dominic was so cute! He was this big bad morally grey macho man. But was a complete teddy bear (most of the time) for Ava. He went above and beyond for her and I loved it!

I saw there was a story coming out about Kaleb and I cannot wait to read that too!

Sinful Secrets is exciting and engaging! The story is perfectly paced, making it a quick and easy read. There are a few places of repetition, but it doesn’t overwhelm the story; it’s just a bit annoying.

I have to say that I felt more connected to Dom. He’s a morally gray, dirty-mouthed, only soft for Ava kind of man. And I loved every moment! Ava is stunted and stubborn, always putting others first. Although she does eventually come into her own, the growth arc took longer than need be. I may have even yelled at Ava to put on her big girl panties a few times. Because fictional characters can actually hear me, right?🤷‍♀️

Ava and Dominic were childhood sweethearts. Which makes this second-chance romance feel even more emotionally raw. It’s really one of those ‘it was always meant to be us’ vibes.

Second Chances & Sinful Deals

Ok Besties… "Sinful Secrets" came in hot with a fast but steady start, and I was fully locked in. Ava’s sheltered life and forced arranged marriage set the stage for some delicious tension, especially once Dominic... the poss€ssiv€, 'touch her & di€'MMC... steps back into her world. The second-chance romance and mafia-adjacent vibes? Absolutely had potential.

That said… about a quarter through, the pacing got choppy, and I wanted more feels, more intensity to really sell the stakes between Ava and Dominic. Still, I powered through because the storyline itself is solid and engaging, with enough suspense and forced proximity to keep things moving.

Not a knockout, but a decent, entertaining dark romance if you’re in the mood for drama, obs€ssion, and second chances.

Dark Romance at its best!!!!

Sinful Secrets

If you haven't read this then you are soooo doing things wrong!!!!

Ava is a great FMC but Dom is holy !!!!! This man is what they mean when they say will burn the world down for her!!!! He has wanted to save her for years and now he may just get his chance......

This story catches your attention right away and holds on to you til the very end. It has twist and turns and is just so damn good! (Also you will hate certain people with the fire of a thousand burning souls). That's how you know it's a great book.

Sinful Secrets was a quick page-turner that kept me hooked from start to finish. The evolution of the relationships was genuinely intriguing—following Dominic and Ava’s dynamic unfold, along with her growing friendships with Landon and Kaleb, was such a fun experience. I loved watching how each connection added a new layer to the story.

There’s a perfect mix of action, tension, and a little “save the girl” energy that kept things moving in an exciting way. I was definitely invested in seeing where the twists would take the characters next.

My only wish was to see Ava take even more of her own power and self-worth into account as everything unfolded. Even so, this was still a great read that kept me entertained all the way through!

Sinful Secrets is a slow burn, secret laced dark romance that drew me in and refused to let me go. The pacing allows revelations to unfold slowly, giving each one emotional connection. Dom walks a thin line between danger and devotion. There is a sense that he is holding himself back for the sake of the woman he loves. Ava is fiercely loyal, stubborn and wants to fix everyone else's problems putting her pain aside. Watching Ava step into her power felt real. The tension, the history and the longing between them was messy, intense and painfully real. I was rooting for them even though things were falling apart around them. Dom would burn the world down for Ava.

Sinful Secrets was pure perfection. The story was gripping and had me hooked.l despite being on the shorter side. The smut was... Wow. SPICY! A real accurate, healthy representation of BDSM. The ending had me on edge, the suspension fueling me to push on and abandon sleep. So many surprises and twists keeping the story alive and heated.
Ava was written so well, she wasn't the perfect heroine we are used to but she wasn't helpless either. She carries her heart on her sleeve and would sacrifice anything to save the people she loves. You fall in love with her very early in the book. The villains were well written too, the kind you truly hate!

If you love touch her and die MC vibes with a touch of mafia and a really sweet HEA this book is perfect for you!

Addictive to say the least! I devoured this book in 2 days! This book has a little bit of everything forced proximity, arranged marriages, mafia ties, bdsm, slow burn! I feel it is very hard to write a mafia type story but this author did that! The only complaint I have and that's why this book isn't a full 5 stars for me is that the slow burn wasn't truly a slow burn and that the spicy scenes could be played out a tiny bit better. Overall though I loved this book and will continue to reccomend it to my besties! I look forward to more from this author!!

I am very fortunate to have received this eARC from the author to review. The book will formally come out on January 13th, 2026! This story is a fun spicy mafia related romance that will keep you engaged the whole way through. I found myself laughing as well as wanting to smack sense into characters in their times of need lol. The spice between the MMC and FMC will ignite anything that gets too close to them! I liked that there was character building as well as a storyline plot twist! This is definitely one to enjoy and I recommend.

Aves aka Ava has lived s sheltered life isolated from everyone except Dom. Until her father found out about their plans and kept her locked away basically then he suddenly tells her she is now being given to Luca. Things move a steady fast pace Dom sees her with Luca and he is not letting her go again. They have each been in love with the other and things move quickly from them getting intimate to the action. Then finding their ending. Was a god read but I was expecting alot more depth but still enjoyed it.

Rounding up to 4.5 stars this was such an amazing read. Hard to put down. The spice was 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but there was also plenty of plot to keep me interested throughout as well. I will forever love a touch her and die/burn the world down for my woman type of book boyfriend and Dominic is top tier in that arena. Ava had so much growth I was proud of her at the end for realizing how much Dominic loved her and she wasn’t broken.

I loved this book!! This was hard to put down!! Every chapter grabbed me and kept me wanting to read more!! The spice!!🌶🌶🌶🌶 The plot!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The chemistry between Dom and Ava!! If you love slow burn, morally grey & possessive MMC that would burn the world down for his woman, drama, surprises, second chance romance, and a “touch her and die” trope, you will DEVOUR this.
Thank you E. M. Rose for my copy! This book releases 1.13.26

Growing up being controlled by your father, then being arranged by your father to marry the head of the mafia son, then being bought/saved from the mafia by your first crush and then on the run from the mafia, oh boy is this book a whirlwind. Let’s just say the head of the mafia and her father are not happy about this.
Ava and Dom fight to be together. This was a fast read for me. Read it in a few hours.

I loved this book. I was hooked from the very beginning. Ava a very tough woman. She goes through a lot of trauma but she never breaks. Dom is the boy next door. Childhood sweetheart until the unthinkable happens. Dom is very protective of Ava after everything. My first book by E M Rose and I would definitely read more of her books. If you love a touch her and 💀vibe this is the book for you. The plot was amazing and it kept me interested.
