Nakht has only ever loved one man in his short, sheltered existence—his fellow palace dancer, Meryt. Two of many personal slaves for Pharaoh, while they may not be free, they are content with their lives so long as they can share them.
But when Meryt is killed during an attempted coup, all hope for a happy life together is shattered.
Lost without his love, Nakht surrenders his life to the gods, but it is not more bloodshed that they seek. The male gods petition Nakht to prove his love for Meryt by resisting the greatest pleasures and temptations they can provide. Only if he can keep his eyes on the one he claims to be devoted to will he and Meryt be reunited.
Nakht cares not whether they are returned to Pharaoh’s service or if he must join Meryt in the Field of Reeds, only that he stands in his beloved’s presence once more. He believes he can resist anything the gods offer him, but his certainty is about to be tested.
Indulge in the divine desires of the Egyptian gods in this enticing standalone novel. It can be read independent of other installments of Lovers of the Gods, and like Last Thrall of Asgard is as much a ROMANCE as it is a romp through this enigmatic pantheon.

I have been following this author's “Lovers of the Gods” series since the first book was released. But none of the previous stories left a shining imprint on my heart quite like this one.
Meryt is in many ways the creeping dusk which bathes the fading day in deep, sinking colors. He’s strong willed, kind, patient, and flows with the easy rhythm in which the sun sinks. His dawn is Nakht, he’s quieter but he holds the same flaming strength as the waking sky, burning bright with determination.
They are slaves, court dancers who grew up in the care of each other. And during one disastrous night where their home is ravaged in an invasion, Meryt falls to the tip of a spear while protecting his beloved. In crushing grief Nakht is left in despair until the gods grant him a proposition. If he is able to prove his love through a series of trials then dusk and dawn may be reunited once more.
This book in particular focuses on Egyptian Mythology. Now, I’m not an expert on the topic but I have always loved the way this author describes their vision of the gods, their way of blending each and every crucial element into something truly lifelike. The writing in general was just beyond lovely, so elegant and bursting with passion.
But Meryt and Nakht were the ones who truly intertwined my soul. Their story is a fairytale, an erotic one, for these trials Nakht has to face are full of steamy encounters. But a fairytale none the less. A story of two hearts so bound completely by the ribbons of love that they are willing to face the wrath of the very gods themselves just to be granted the chance to be reunited. Their relationship was one of the sweetest I’ve read in a long time, tender and whole.
Overall, this book was beautifully written. Words so graceful and poetic that they truly match the couple being described.
My experience with Amanda's books felt nothing but pleasant, ever since I discovered 'Last Courtesan of Olympus'. Somehow, this one felt more intimate, it made me feel aching love before any of the listed kinks and it was so intense it made me sweat without effort. I wish I was joking.
Before deep diving, it's a smut-based book and it revolves around it, but somehow it all made sense to me because every time Meryt appeared, I remembered about the true purpose of the journey. The author has a way with words and phrases... I'm telling you, it makes you shiver because of how good everything is described.
This is what I call EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL characters, Nakht and Meryt. No joking, these people are described insanely good from head to toe. Might be just me, since I love egyptian mythology and I'm fascinated about it, but this book worked for me.
MM Romance Mm/MMM Gods and a Mortal Egyptian mythology So many kinks….seriously.

The story was superb, taking a love story and making the gods trials a way to prove their love was a wild ride. Nakht and Meryt were stunning together and I absolutely love them. Sweet babies they are.
The world building in this story was so good. From ancient Egypt to all the different planes of the duat and gods homes, it was completely immersive.
Now as the two before it, this book be spicy. And she be full of kinks ands monster c*ck. Which for some is a no go. But for me, it’s a yes please.

💭 My Thoughts: 🔥🤌 This story is a chaotic, divine kinkland of temptations that delivers both heat and heart. It’s emotional, wildly sexy... all while exploring the devotion, temptation, and beautiful bond between Meryt and Nakht. ✍️ The writing captures every heartbeat, every whispered vow, and every test of fidelity. Their love is absolutely heart-melting! From the very beginning, you feel how deep Nakht and Meryt’s connection is. Their bond is soft, intense, and completely unbreakable. 💔 When Meryt dies… it was heartbreaking. Nakht’s pain, his emptiness, his desperation, his grief, his devotion… His choice after that moment shows just how much he loved Meryt. ✨ And then the story becomes something more… a journey through the afterlife, guided by gods who test not just his body, but his heart. All of it is handled with care and intensity. 😈 VERY spicy, the temptations are everywhere… intense, creative, and sometimes overwhelming. 👏 The Egyptian mythology is beautifully done. Easy to follow, immersive, and Meryt’s presence never truly leaves the story, and the flashbacks of their shared life add so much depth to the story. I also loved the glossary and extra details, also appreciated that each chapter begins with content warnings, without spoiling the story.

■ Dusk to my dawn, I will follow wherever you lead me, always, as I did when I followed you through the afterlife.
💛 If you like mythology, high heat, kink, and deep emotional bonds… this one is worth it.
😉 Thanks for reading hope this helps you out! I received this book as a gift from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
✨The ultimate consent queen!✨
For as much as I love all things Egypt, this book made me realize I know surprisingly little about its mythology. It was fascinating to journey through the Duat with Nakht as he sought to reunite with his lover Meryt. In true Lovers of the Gods fashion, each Egyptian god tempted Nakht with pleasures of the body and mind to see if his love would stay true. From smoothing away imperfections to freedom from chains and pain, delivering retribution to gaining all-seeing knowledge, each offer was more tantalizing than the last for a man who'd only known life as a palace dancer. Nakht explored carnal delights with each of the gods, yet throughout it all his focus remained on Meryt. Woven through Nakht's story were Meryt's memories, small glimpses of the events that had shaped their love into the unwavering force that propelled Nakht forward. I was in awe of Nakht's steadfastness, his deep love for Meryt that allowed him to turn down the gods one by one. I wouldn't say he passed each test with flying colors, but any hesitation lingered for only moments before Nakht recentered himself. The gods were depicted with vibrant forms and inventive pursuits of passion, and it was a lot of fun to explore alongside Nakht. In the end, when it was time for Nakht and Meryt's final test, they once again proved their love was enduring. I couldn't be more thrilled with the reward the gods granted them, and that epilogue felt like the perfect sendoff.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
I didn’t even stand a chance with this book. The first chapter alone? I was already gone—reading, cursing, and crying like my life depended on it. And not just a tear here and there, no…full emotional breakdown energy. It grabs you immediately and does not let go, and I loved that about it. Amanda Meuwissen just has this way of writing that feels so raw and intentional. The emotions aren’t forced, they just hit. Every scene feels like it matters, every moment carries weight, and you can tell she knows exactly what she’s doing with her characters. There’s something almost cruel in the way she pulls you in emotionally…because once you’re in, you’re in. What I loved most is how deeply I felt everything. The pain, the longing, the intensity—it’s all there, layered so well that it never feels flat. It’s one of those stories that doesn’t just tell you what the characters are going through, it makes you experience it with them. And honestly, I was right there suffering alongside them and not even mad (well, maybe a bit mad cuz all the sobbing) about it. This is why she’s one of my favourite authors. She just gets it—how to write something that stays with you, that lingers even after you close the book. Easy 5★, no hesitation.
And the fact I get to be part of her street team now? Yeah…that just makes it even better 😌
Amanda has done it again! A sweet tale of love and loss with so much spice it’ll make even the most seasoned romantasy reader blush, Last Dancer in the Egyptian Sky is a tale of the truest of all loves. Our hero is well written and deals with temptations coming at him from every direction to earn the right to weigh his heart and get his most beloved back. — SPOILER WARNING — . . . . . . Meryt dies to save his lover, and Nahkt will do anything to not live a life without him. In this sweet love story, you will see Nahkt undergo trials to earn his love back from the dead, and Amanda has approached the topic of death with knowledge that astounds me. Not only is the mythos detailed and standalone if you don’t know anything about Egyptian Lore, it is a new take on the old stories! So I say again, Amanda has done it again! Another five star read from Amanda, my alltime favorite author.
While this is an erotic, kinky story, the core of this story is about the truest love in ancient history. Nakht and Meryt are lovers. They are slaves and dancers for the Pharaoh and his guests. Even though they are captured, they lead good lives.
After Meryt died during a coup, Nakht doesn’t want to live anymore, what’s life without Meryt’s love? The gods offer him a reunion with Meryt, IF he can resist the pleasures and temptations they’ll give him. Here’s where the erotic kinky side of the story enters. It’s a challenge that’s for sure, but with every challenge he has just one person before his eyes… Meryt!
Love is beautiful, Nakht and Meryt’s love is above beautiful. My heart!
The author outdid herself, what a wonderful story this was. The author’s interpretation of the Egyptian Mythology, the whole scenery, was outstanding and breathtaking. There’s a long list of kinks, all excellently executed and entwined with the romantic theme.
I went into this book with very little knowledge of Egyptian mythology but “Last Dancer of the Egyptian Sky” gave me a fun opportunity to look into more of the lore. It struck that perfect balance between emotional romance and mythological intrigue. Nakht’s devotion to Meryt is incredibly moving—his grief feels raw and real, and it made his journey through the gods’ trials even more compelling, especially as the temptations grew more intense and complex.
What stood out most to me was how immersive the Egyptian setting felt, blended with this almost dreamlike, seductive energy from the gods. It added a unique layer to the romance instead of overshadowing it. At its heart, this is such a sincere story about love, loyalty, and what it truly means to remain devoted when everything is trying to pull you away.
It’s emotional, a little indulgent, and ultimately very satisfying—I finished it feeling both a bit wrecked and completely fulfilled.
Last Dancer of the Egyptian Sky is part of the Lovers of the Gods series. This book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. Please check the trigger warnings before you start this book. The blurb gives you a good idea of what to expect from the story. I loved Amanda Meuwissen's sexy erotic take on the old gods of Egypt. There is so much emotion put into this story. I don't want to spoil anything about the story so all I can say is I really enjoyed this book. It has plenty of steam, lots of emotional moments, and some hard decisions to make. I would definitely recommend this book and series. received a free review copy
After losing the love of his life Meryt. Nakht will do anything to get him back. Even if that means he has to go through the gods trials. And I do like the fact that he is so devoted to his love and will do anything to get him back. And with him going through these trials, he impresses the gods. But also in this journey, he teaches them something and he also learns a little bit of something for himself. That he can be true to himself and never change because that is the way his love wants him. The ending I absolutely like it because they both got their wish in the end. And then the epilogue I enjoyed it because you had to see into the future and actually see how happy they are.
Meryt and Nakht story was intense, with a bit of heartache caused by death, trials to prove worth, pleasurable moments, as well as hard times as decisions has to be made while not loosing the scope of all. It had moments that weren’t for the faint-hearted so is important to take into account the trigger warnings, as well as ones were the deepest secrets and desires needed to be accepted and also refused. Their love and devotion is put to test, as well as the sincerity and depth of it. I also enjoyed the mythology aspect, as well as the depiction of it through the author’s eyes.
Oh my heart!!! This book is lovely. It’s a gut wrenching, sweat inducing, spicy AF amazing story of fighting for your true love and your happy ending. It’s a little bit different from other books in this set because we know our two heroes and hope they will be together again by the end. (The author wouldn’t leave us hanging like that.) Meryt and Nakht are slaves in the Egyptian court and content with their life. They have each other so what more do they need? Actually, they need a miracle, and the Egyptian gods are ready to deliver.
Last Dancer of the Egyptian Sky felt like a collection of Egyptian-mythology themed spicy scenes. But ultimately tying it all together is a beautiful love story. Meryt and Nakht orbited each other since they were young. Until their relationship is tested when one of them doesn’t survive a palace coup. This separation led them to a testing of not only their emotions, but their conscious intentions, their hidden hopes and secrets. Intertwined with the tales of temptation were poignant scenes from their life together, that ultimately made the book for me.
Wow what a story. I loved the details in this story and truly felt like i was there with meryt. I dont want to give anything away but basically this is a story of meryt proving his love for his partner nakht and he does this by getting sexy trials from the Egyptian gods I enjoyed this story as it was soo unique, interesting and not forgetting super hot! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book takes place against the backdrop of the ancient Egyptian pantheon, and it's a fascinating, immersive blend of mythology, adventure, trials, steam, and romance that delivers heat and emotion in equal, generous measure. Meryt and Nakht's story is intense on pretty much every level — if the mythology angle appeals and you're comfortable with the content warnings, this one is absolutely worth a read. *I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Filled with Egyptian mythology, this was a story about the deep and abiding love between Nakht and Meryt. Meryt is lost to Makht, who is then offered the opportunity by the Egyptian gods to win him back by means of a variety of trials. What follows is a particularly spicy route through places the gods inhabit, and Nakht has to choose Meryt time and time again. The ending was a little unexpected but fit really well. It is a very enjoyable story throughout.
I was a little reluctant to get into this book, since it started with a couple, and I didn’t want to know what happened to them. But I don’t know why I ever doubted the author! This book might be my favorite of the three. I loved the trials, the history, the reward, and of course I loved Meryt and Nakht! Low-ish angst, high heat, HEA.
This is my honest review of an advanced reader copy.
If you love mythology and you love hot loving, this series is for you. I was fascinated with the premise of this one as I honestly did not know how it would turn out for Meryt and Nakht. Their journey was intense and there were lot of emotions going on. And do not forget quite a bit of intimacy shared!
I have always loved the Egyptian pantheon and was excited to read this one. Nakht and Meryt are both slaves for Pharoah and dancers. When a coup happened and Meryt gets killed, Nakht is devastated and will try anything to get him back. I loved the world building, great chemistry and lots of spicy scenes. I cannot wait to read more from this author.
LAST DANCER OF THE EGYPTIAN SKY was immediately on my TBR as soon as I heard about it! I loved this book’s storytelling style (don’t want to give it away) and the thought and research and own spin Amanda puts on this mythology was fantastic!
I absolutely loved this story. The characters were amazing and I just wanted to hug them. The world building was amazing and so intriguing. This was an amazing journey through Egyptian mythology that I throughly enjoyed.
Meryt and Nakht's story was a wonderfully emotional journey. The trials and tribulations Nakht faced in order to be reunited with Meryt made for such an engaging read, I was glued to my tablet.
In my opinion, this story plain rocked! Right away, you can tell this author did a lot of study and investigation for this read. The story is packed with steam, romance, and awesomeness!!
Our main characters are slave dancers who have been joined since childhood and now love one another. They're cruelly seperated and must not only withstand the gods testing them but openly defy them as well in order to be reunited.
Love the deep research into the Egyptian gods, all the details of an often ignored (yet fascinating) pantheon. In many ways, this is the most romantic of the series and is fun in a dramatic, epic scope
Cute and I liked the little sideplot of Horus and Seth, but this lacked any sort of conflict or tension. It was well established from the start that Nakht would do anything for Meryt, so there was never doubt that he wouldn't refuse the gods' offers. Their relationship was very sweet though.
Something that becomes clearer with each story I read from Amanda is that she is clearly a poet as well as a master fantasy writer. The prose that comes from her within these stories is incredible and always memorable. Some of the stories have them as songs, but I can never truly auditorily-visualize the music that accompanies them. This story was a grand adventure on both sides of the MCs' POV. It very much read like the romance of a lifetime, and I loved the culmination of their love as presented in the epilogue. They each got everything they deserved and fought so very hard for. Though Nakht was the one frolicking with the gods, Meryt definitely had a special journey to follow alongside. The Last Dancer of the Egyptian Sky was a rollercoaster I had not fully anticipated, but I absolutely enjoyed the ride. The Lovers of the Gods series are such a fun take on ancient myths and fantasies. Even if this series is over, I can't wait to see what comes next.
I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
