ASHER…ugh i love the mmcs that Amo Jones writes! 🥰🤭 i loved the dynamic between asher and ivy. he was protective, possessive, obsessive (in the best way), but always there when she needed him emotionally. their friendship felt real and i loved that they built their relationship on that. 🥹 the ending was a shock, and while the cliffhanger wasn’t bad, i was a bit disappointed by one characters actions!! 😤 had me pissed over here lol. overall, i enjoyed it! 🤭 can’t wait to see what happens next! 🤗

Book one of a duet 🩷
“I think you’re terrified of wanting anything.” His thumb brushes my knee, barely there. “I think you’ve convinced yourself that caring about someone is the same as handing them a weapon.” 🔥
Amo Jones has a way of telling stories with dark themes that make you feel like you’re being consumed by them rather than the other way around. This story had me in a chokehold and it made me suspicious about every character due to the intensity of the world that Amo created. A consistent feeling of what is going to happen next that would never leave my mind for long.
Asher and Ivy meet when Ivy’s husband arranges for Asher to stay with her while he’s away. I particularly enjoyed how close they became as friends even if they both harbored so many secrets and couldn’t fully trust each other. But in their world, a world full of complex emotions, criminal behavior, dangerous enemies and lies, they aren’t sure who to trust or how to handle their own traumas. The stakes are high and each of their survival instincts kick in resulting in betrayal, but who betrays who? You’ll have to read this one to find out but that ending will leave you feeling stunned 😮💨.

Omfg. THIS BOOK!!! Amo NAILED IT. Wow. Love love love. Read the entire thing in less than 24 hours.
The tension, the angst… THE YEARNING pleaseeeee I’m obsessed. The way Amo wrote these characters & their chemistry is top fucking tier. Like I am just so obsessed with Asher & Ivy.
“You didn't have to ghost me to date someone.” - Ivy
“I did if I didn't want her to know I wished it was you.” - Asher 🫠🫠
Their journey is messy, they’re chaotic & they’re fire…but it’s so refreshing. But when they both have so much at stake it makes for one hell of a ride, and boy did they ride it. It’s fun, it’s gritty… it’s EVERYTHING. Asher is everything I yearn for in a MMC, he is just pure perfection and I was hanging of his every word. Ivy is a total stabby black cat & I loved her so much! Their banter, and their connection was just insane. The spice… UGH. It was toe curling,.. so intense. 🔥🔥
I have so much to say, yet nothing?! Words seem to be failing me, but I cannot tell you enough how much I devoured this book. The last 10% had me on my knees… open mouthed, gasping.. SOBBING, because wdym?! Why?! What.. just… happened?! I was eagerly awaiting the plot to well and truly twist Amo style, and twist it did. Because that ending… brain = scrambled.
I need the next book like now! NOW NOW NOW. I don’t know how I’m going to go on with life after this… because wdym I have to wait 😭😭😭

This was just the book to get me out of a months-long reading slump 🔥😍
I was lucky to receive an ARC and was instantly addicted!! The way the story reveals itself had my jaw dropped!! And excuse me, but characters you simply can’t get enough of? Amo’s specialty!! The twists? The obsession and general badassery?? All of it was so dark and delicious and I ate. it. up. 👏🏻

Many thanks to author Amo Jones for giving me the chance to read an eARC a few days early. I couldn't have been more thrilled, but the review reflects my genuine opinions of the book itself.
Amo Jones is the author you count on for a wild ride. Let me tell you, I read the entirety of the book today (1/13/26) and am completely speechless. Playhouse is different than anything she's ever written before yet encompasses many of the things you may love from her previous books.
The prologue... it goes hard. You don't know exactly what's going on but it's a sneak peek into the disturbing inhumanity and moral rot of this new world. I was desperate to read more yet probably reread the prologue at least three times--two in a row, and then once again after I finished--because there's so much packed into those couple pages.
Onward we go... Asher is rich boy pro snowboarder whose public-facing persona has the world at his feet but whose private life is marred by his father's iron hand and ominous responsibilities. The fmc is Ivy, a newly married woman saddled to a distant man nearly double her age. Asher and Ivy become quickly fascinated with each other and friendly... to the point that over time friendship lines are blurred...
#1 THE VIBES. are. immaculate. I forgot how unique Amo Jones' brand of writing and dark romance is. It's not the overly tropey, edgy stuff that populates dark romance these days (no offense to anyone). The prologue reads as almost gothic. The rest of the book is not that. A large portion takes place at the fmc's remote mountain home offers a chilling, dangerous backdrop for the slow burn romance unfolding.
The romance itself is a complex, winding path toward the BURN in slow burn. (Past 50% btw.) Because once Asher and Ivy truly get together, they run HOT and cannot stay from each other. It's the kind of passion we read romances for--they check their brains at the door and ignore the risks just for another moment together.
I love that the fmc is a little older; she's also not your stereotypical girlboss-tough-girl who is a brat. Ivy feels mature: a woman who doesn't suffer fools, doesn't trust easily, and has survived all that life has thrown at her. She's self-sufficient and sometimes aloof. She doesn't need to please anyone, yet even she isn't immune to how love makes her soft. Asher honestly annoyed me on a literal level with his recklessness in conducting their relationship, but I give him a conditional pass because of his young age, unexplained family situation, and obvious obsession with the fmc.
While the main relationship is the spine of the book, the romantic aspect while great is not the centerpiece IMO. Ivy's POV chapters in particular make us readers quite aware of the internal conflict she's experiencing. Add to that the fact that the book goes along presenting something like an angsty contemporary romance and then smacks you in the face with the DARK--horrific bits of flashback from Ivy's past. You also know from Asher's first POV chapter that his Delacroix family responsibilities irrevocably tie him for life to some shady dealings. But Amo Jones doesn't hand anything to you on a silver platter. No, it's up to you to try to piece together the hints, odd character behavior and possible motivations, and then sit back to savor the reveals.
I'm literally counting down the days to the sequel Gravehouse's release because Playhouse only gives you a fraction of the answers to questions it presented. And what a cliffhanger!!!
Final random notes: Who doesn't love a tortured romance? Amo Jones takes major risks as a writer; the book abruptly shifts tone, setting, and pacing at multiple points in the book. I think it works. This book makes you feel many extremes and gifts you with big emotional and plot payoffs. Also, I loved the friend circle (that reminded me why I love Amo's Elite Kings Club). I wouldn't mind if the author wrote interconnected novels that follow these other characters to expand this world.

True to her nature- just when you think you’ve figured it all out-PLOT TWIST. But not like your average plot twist, no,DESTROY ME twist!
Ivy & Asher are both in relationships, yes- but not with each other. Though they love each other with their whole hearts and HARD, things are very complicated. I’m coming back to that angst part because HOLY! I felt that tension throughout my entire body!! 🔥🔥🔥
Now that ya’ll know this book has quite literally consumed me, I’ve got one last question for our Queenie… is it February yet?! 😭😭

Dark mummy did it again. I don’t know how to describe it, but it's something so fundamentally different from her usual style, yet it also gives me the OG Amo vibes. I don’t know if it makes sense, but this is how I feel.
This book was incredible. I could not put it down. It was full of emotions and plot twists. I’m not even sure if I’m fully understanding the plot, I mean, I couldn’t see all things that are going to unfold in the next book. Which I’m obsessed with. I have to highlight that this book ends on a cliffhanger, so if you want to wait until the next book comes out, please keep that in mind. I literally fell in love with the characters for different reasons, and I still feel like I'm back at square one, like I’m just at the beginning of the book. I know the pieces, but I cannot, for the life of me, put them together to see the bigger picture. Honestly, I love it when I have no clue what’s going on until the very end, when I can finally see everything put together.
If you ask me, this book is like trying to solve a puzzle without seeing the front, just the back, with every little piece being white, and you're trying to put those pieces together. This is how this book feels. Honestly, it’s a 10 out of 10, and I cannot count the days until the next book comes out, which, thank God and Amo, is really soon. So if you want to wait, it’s just a month away, and you will get an epic duet.

F*ck! I will never menage to understand how does this woman know how to wreck me every single time with her release?! I would say I blame hormones but no, not with this, it’s every word written in their story, every page turned while holding my breath, it’s f*cking these two characters that are so addicting.
I said long time ago that not one fictional character can dethrone love of my life, that this same woman gave me, but I am scared that I will have to break my BVH’s heart because Asher Jameson Delacroix is f*cking perfect villain that I want to be at the end of every single fairytale as my end game if I ever find my ass in one.
I wasn’t instantly in love with some character in a long time, BUT these TWO completely changed that. Since the first page where there eyes land on each other you are trapped in their clutch and trust me when I tell you, one you will not want out, and two they will never let you go, Ivy and Asher will be stuck in your head from page one, and they are not leaving any time soon. Their chemistry is everything you need. The pull they have- the connection they have, f*ck- it would put soulmates to shame, because they are so much more.
Amo, my love, you did such a beautiful job, and that wait was so worth it, like it always is when it comes to your writing. You wrote another addicting masterpiece and I can’t wait for next month so the next book is my hands.

Playhouse feels like a slow burn in many ways, as their friendship and attraction grow over time, even as we skip ahead to months later, so it doesn't feel like insta-love. In typical Amo Jones style, there were some twists that I did not see coming, leaving me edging me until the second half of this duet comes out in February. I cannot wait to see where the story goes. Playhouse falls into the category of books I would read again, making it worthy of my 5/5 star rating.

Amo absolutely exceeded expectations with this book! Ivy and Asher are exceptional and their story is a roller coaster ride that chews you up and spits you out, in a good way. It has all the ingredients for an epic journey, angst - check, tension - check, chemistry - check. I truly didn’t want it to end and now I impatiently wait for the next instalment. Their journey is filled with chaos, secrecy, until it’s not a secret and then Amo delivers the perfect twist and then the tears start and the rocking in the corner begins and then the coaster dips and you free fall into something that you can’t explain because you’re trying to wrap your head around the excellence that you’ve just devoured. Who needs sleep when denial is telling you that you just need one more chapter until it’s 3am and you’re on such a high because of the ending that is everything sucks you in and then spits you out with unadulterated glee that you can’t really explain and my loves that’s the way that our Queen Amo likes it. She is absolutely amazing and this book is my favourite of all of her books to date and I give it 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No matter what Amo is writing about, she creates a winner. Playhouse is about Asher and Ivy. Asher is a professional snowboarder, and Ivy is the slightly older woman who is married to his best friend, Parker (who alone seems like an odd pairing to either one of them).
Ivy has enough secrets in her little arsenal that can/does keep our little conspiracy theorist buzzing for an exceedingly long time. I swear that you could turn an Amo Jones novel into a drinking game and get buzzed quickly. For example, take a shot if you have a theory in mind and it gets blown up in your face. Take a shot when you’ve figured out who the ‘bad’ person is in the book, only to realize that they may not be the worst of the worst. Take a shot when things are finally going right, BUT you know, your girls come in and mess things up again, only waiting to hear the disgruntled screams and cries from the @darkromancemommy universe. This is clearly an Amo Jones novel if you’ve been rubbed raw in your emotions, screamed out the ‘oh no.’ ‘wait what’, ‘shut up’, or have reread the ending, come up with a whole new “theory” and realize she must love her following and enjoy seeing you suffer!
This dark romance is a world of mystery, angst, tension, secrets, and repressed feelings that are written phenomenally by Amo. She can captivate your senses and take you along this journey into a world that shouldn’t exist but does. I am absolutely OBSESSED with this new little world that she is playing in and cannot wait for book 2 (oh yeah, did I forget to mention that it ends on a ‘little’ cliffy😲😲). So, my fellow @darkromancemommy ducklings, stock up on caffeine, snacks, and munchies, because book 2 comes out in February!

Finally my thoughts of this Story wich finally came our way a few days ago. After the little execerpt of this Story wich Amo shared in an antology a few years back. If you follow my reviews or me in genral longer you know that Amo Jones books in my life for six years or longer and she bekame one of my one klick authors fast. The Four years of wait have been woth it so much.
It is no wonder that this Athor Masterd it one more time to glue me to pages with the plot wich she created. All the this story took of her to be told had defenitly been worth it. From her first the first book to this book i saw a development in here ways of Creating Story arcs.
After a long time like 6 oe so with this Book made it happen that dispite being 20 Percent i felt the Urge to go back to the start and start this book again rembering the triggers she mention. Each of is really important with them in mind i tried to find out when there was talked wich triger. This Serious themes are important in to have in books and normaly i find thistirggers and some of them hit me now thinking back. It was handled great as far as i can say it.
Amo always makes it happen despite never being in the situation of going through the things the went through. Choice of words is always Important to protray the Character in their whole way to think. Their train of thoughts was brought to us in a way that makes them unterstandeble. Both Characters show alot of their mindset.
Ivy is a young women who seems to think she isn't allowed to have happen good thing to her. We all see that she isn't givng up easy on life. She is smart and does what's good for her.
Asher is among chaminh young man. But also tough his profession he learned to foght for what he want's If you're on his good page he does everything for you.
All in all this Author told me dark Love Story that Caught me in it's Claws. It showed me so many facettes of the both main characters. Plot and character Development were close to each other and Ifelt wittht Them. Cant wait for book tow.

All in all this Author told me dark Love Story that Caught me in it's Claws. It showed me so many facettes of the both main characters. Plot and character Development were close to each other and Ifelt wittht Them. Cant wait for book tow.

OH MY GOD. this book might be one of my new favorites by Amo… yes you heard me this book was OUTSTANDING. everything i never knew i needed. In typical Amo fashion, the twists and turns come when you least expect them. THE ANGST. Amo might as well be the queen of angst because no one does it better than her. I could not put this book down the entire time i read it. i sat there and read the book from start to finish in one sitting. i did not dare move. now partly because i was full of anxiety until the very end, and the rest of me just loved it so fucking much. ASHER THE MAN THAT YOU ARE. Infinity stars… and i’ll be hanging on this cliff until part two The Graveyard coming soon. Holy shit y’all, did I even blink while I read this book!? I received this ARC 7 hours ago and well….here we are.
This is now one of my favorites from Amo, I’m telling you she put her whole coochie into this story and left noooo crumbs! I am utterly DESTROYED and while I am in general a dramatic person I am SO serious, I am gutted on every level and honestly I feel short of breath and a tad bit nauseous and I think it’s from all the freaking adrenaline and emotions that were rushing through me from every single word!
Ivy and Asher. I don’t really have the words. They are both in very complicated and precarious situations, their lives aren’t wholly their own which really hurts, and I mean physically hurts us as the reader because we are rooting for them, we are but the secrets, the lies, the deadly betrayal and the consequences are…..inevitable. Everything is extreme and the stakes are very high but it is SO hard to care about that at times because every time they’re on page together, your heart rate will increase, you’ll feel warmer, and if you’re like me….gripping the hell out of your kindle. They are SCORCHING, they’re frustrating and chaotic. Toxic? Meh, not to me but I’m nuts. I love them together….their fights, their passion, their subtle glances, their down right eye f*cking, the way they orbit each other, the mutual obsession and possessiveness.
I laughed, I hopped up and screamed at the action scenes, I cried at the hard scenes and the scenes where the angst felt too deep. What a beautifully explosive experience! Whew, where is book 2!? I’m so proud of you Amo.

GOD. this book was absolutely phenomenal. and in true amo fashion she has me sobbing my face off only to drop a twist that had me shocked. this book was so damn good and I can’t wait for the second one. the twists. the turns. the angst. everything was beautifully written. ASHER I love you so damn much. The man that you are. I seriously cannot wait for gravehouse amo’s worlds always pull me in and this was no different and I need more so bad. I highlighted more than half of this book but half of these quotes are coming to the grave with me. I highlight recommended this book and I will never not recommend amo jones. I can’t wait for what’s next.

Broooooooo what do you mean? AMO JONES LADIES AND GENTLEMAN!! That first book was a freaking ride of all the emotions! I was on the edge of my seat having 1000 theories, then crying and gasping saying out loud no she didn't, to being like THATS HOW IT ENDS????? Again, in true Amo style.
Asher Jameson is a pro snowboarder. Ivy is a woman who has 1000 secrets. The two couldn't be more different. Or could they?
What these two both have in common, is an attraction to each other like no other. But not just physically, they are also best friends. She's married. Hes engaged. Can't get more complicated than that.
The way this man sees her!!! Ahhhhh I love them sooooo much. Not every thing is black and white with either of these two. Or their "situations." And I still don't have all the answers but man oh man that ending. I cannot freaking wait til book 2!!

You would think by now I would be prepared for an Amo Jones cliffy and to be left chomping at the bit for the next installment, alas it gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It's the true magic of the Dark Mommy's writing. Asher and Ivy were such an interesting dynamic. Still had all of the favorite components of an Amo obsessed, morally compromised couple but at the same time they had a very different vibe in my opinion. Different in the best way though. It was more directly related to the facts that both MC's had SO many secrets from not only each other but everyone else, that even I as the reader wasn't sure what I trusted. I've never, in previous books from her, felt SO unsure of what was coming. The timing of THESE twists were so epically placed that I was totally unprepared and loved every single second of it. And to be completely honest? I am pretty sure Amo is the ONLY person who could get me to not only READ the cheating trope enthusiastically but also leave me wanting more. The sheer toxicity of it all was all consuming. I am gnawing at my enclosure for Gravehouse. 5/5 stars!

I devoured Playhouse! This new story has completely captivated me! I love everything about it from the dark and mysterious setting to the brand new cast of chaotically toxic characters to fall in love with.
Asher and Ivy are scorching hot. You can feel their chemistry and how much they want each other, but there are sooo many things stacked against them. To start, she’s married to his friend, and he’s engaged to someone else. Additionally, they both have sooo many secrets (like her job as an assassin). Honestly, I loved their mess and was rooting for them the whole time.
Ivy is such a bad ass FMC! She is not afraid to make tough choices to get it done. She is strong, strategic and so cunning. Although it appears Asher is usually a lot more controlled, he is impulsively and recklessly obsessed with Ivy.
And that ending!!! OMG! Miss Ma’am! What are you doing to us??? I was running on pure adrenaline! The suspense and that twist! My mind is already reeling with possibilities about what direction this story could go in Gravehouse, which is expected to release on February 12.

This book messed with my head in the best (and worst) way.
Playhouse is not a “sit back and relax” kind of read. This is a white-knuckle, emotional whiplash, what-did-I-just-read experience and I mean that as a compliment.
Amo Jones does what she does best: throws you into something dark, intense, and deeply uncomfortable… and then makes you unable to look away. The atmosphere is heavy, the tension is constant, and the chemistry? Unhinged. The kind that makes you pause, stare at the wall, and question your life choices.
The characters are messy, morally gray, and frustrating in a very intentional way. Nobody is safe. Nobody is simple. And just when you think you understand what’s happening…nope. Plot twist. Emotional damage. Repeat.
This is not a feel-good romance. It’s toxic, angsty, and sometimes straight-up cruel but if you’re into dark romance that crawls under your skin and lives there rent-free, this book delivers.
Also… that ending?
Rude. Disrespectful. Illegal. I need the next book immediately.

I think this has got to be Amo’s angstiest book, and that just goes to show how much range this woman has! I loved seeing something a little different from her and thought the island it’s set in was so cool. Veilarath is a lush, secret, private island with mountains that move and deceive. It has its own rules and is just as luxurious and high society as her other worlds.
I liked Asher being a professional snowboarder and Ivy being an older dangerous woman who’s involved in some nefarious activity (although we still don’t exactly know what it is she does yet…).
The romance is exactly what you want from a forbidden, angsty romance. And if you’re okay with some cheating (since both of them are in relationships), you’ll eat up all the tension in this one! I do think this book could have benefitted from being longer though. Much of the relationship build up was off page and was just told to us. It all moved so fast, it almost felt like a novella.
Luckily we don’t have to wait long until the next book though! The ending made my jaw drop and has me so excited to pick up Gravehouse.

Amo Jones has done it again!
Wow the plot twists and banter in Playhouse is unhinged. I am unwell and desperately need the second part of this duet. There is so much to unpack!
Asher is a famous professional snowboarder with a secret past that is hinted at through out Playhouse. Ivy is a spicy bad ass, with a dark past of her own, who somehow got stuck in an arranged marriage situation. When Asher comes to stay with his friend, Parker and his new with Ivy, the sparks come alive between Ashvy. They come close as friends and this slow burn love interest starts to heat up on the slopes of Veilararth. But as secrets and dark pasts are unveiled this love story, Ivy must prove her loyalty in the must unexpected way. I cannot wait for the conclusion to this duet.
Only thing missing for me for a five star was more backstory and a few POV mid-chapter switches that made me feel I am missing some pages, I will update my review as a re-read will be needed for me soon! I fully trust Amo to give us the back story we need to fully dive into Ivy and Asher’s past but I think I’ve started to figure out some key plots coming soon.

All I have to say is PERFECTION!! Playhouse is a reverse age gap, mafia romance that gives you all the angst and twists. This book is raw, invigorating, it gave me life! I have been craving a book that captures my full attention and thoughts and Playhouse did just that! This book is just so damn good. The connection between Asher and Ivy is just chefs kiss! Ivy is the bada** heroine who is so fierce. Asher Jameson is for sure book boyfriend material! Definitely my first one of 2026! Hands down, *insert breath* his dirty mouth is delicious. Reading this was so entertaining. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I pretty much have chapter 20 bookmarked and highlighted because I love it so much. Amo Jones delivers with this jaw dropping read. Amo Jones does such an amazing job at writing something that will have your mind turning to days. I am dying for more in this world. Seriously counting the milliseconds to see what’s next.
I highly recommend this book for others! If you like angsty and love Amo’s books then definitely grab this one!
