Prepared to Please is a steamy sci-fi romance featuring a captain who gets more than he programmed for, a heroine who's been hiding in plain sight, and enough holographic mayhem to short-circuit any system.
Captain Roman Parker has a problem. His gorgeous communications officer is strictly off-limits, and regulations aren't the only thing keeping them apart—she clearly wants nothing to do with him. His solution? A holographic program that lets him work out his frustrations in private.
Lieutenant Commander Destiny Stewart has the same problem. And the same solution.
When a crash landing throws them together, the line between fantasy and reality blurs in ways neither of them expected. And once that line is crossed, there's no going back.

"If only you were the real deal, baby. I'd give my life for you then. You'd own my soul."~Roman❤️🔥
I have read my share of sci-fi books.🥳 Been to a galaxy far far away. Discussed who's the better Captain: Kirk or Picard. Been leery of Planet LV-426 and Yautja Prime.😱 But this little novel went in a whole other direction. Welcome aboard. You're about to go on a futuristic voyage towards the Fargonie galaxy on the Expedition Vessel Eight. Here are 2 people who are having secretive desires while working closely together. Fantasies are building and spinning in this ship.💋😈💋
The Star Union fleet cannot form inappropriate relationships among their crew. What's the next best thing out in cold space and racing for intergalactic expansion? Holographic interactions, of course.😂 Ask Captain Roman Parker. Better yet, ask Lieutenant Commander Destiny Stewart. Communication is key. And why is no one knocking or making themselves known before entering the bathroom facilities?!😳 Jeez! I cracked up at the urgency that seems to take place in the shower room.🧖🏻♀️🛁🧖🏻♂️ Ya'll have no idea.😝
Destiny, and others, are set to leave on a pod toward the mysterious planet M83293. I personally wanted to know more about the ghost planet... Don't judge.🤣🤣 But Roman isn't going to let Destiny leave him behind. No he is NOT!!🚦🚨 🚀 🏃🏻♂️💨💨💨💨 Room for one more?!!lol
The story has extreme high heat and roughness.🔥🥵🔥🥵 Intense. Raw. Roman is driven, obsessed, needy for wanting Destiny the way he does. He's desperate for her. Roman has it bad.😚😚 He's not the most romantic guy ((imo)) but he is in love. He wants to protect her. But who will protect her from him? Roman wants her but he can't have her, can he? Destiny isn't shy about her feelings but she's silent with them. She gets jealous and wants Roman for herself. Why can't she have this man?😫😫 Her man. Just one night. No one has to know, right?🤫
The story is different. Naughty. There's a bit of a plot, not a great deal of emotional building, you just know that it's there and expected. I hope that makes sense. Again, it's very spicy, smutty, heavy pining, a bit of a twist with certain situations. There's humor. Roman and Destiny are likable characters. If you like sci-fi smut in space, this book might be for you.🛸🛸 I'm curious about the next story. The book cover is cool looking. Happy reading.*•>§<•*🪐💙🤍💙🤍🪐

He builds a fantasy. She builds one too. Then reality hits.
Roman knows better than for a captain to want his communications officer. Regulations forbid it, and Destiny makes it clear she values her career more than reckless attraction. So he does what lonely men in deep space do, he programs a hologram that looks like her and pretends it’s enough. It isn’t. Every simulated touch only reminds him that the real woman is still out of reach.
Destiny is just as disciplined and just as obsessed. She spends a year pretending she doesn’t crave the dominant, infuriating captain who watches her like she’s the only star in the sky. In private, she builds her own version of him, one she can control. But when jealousy and pride collide, distance turns dangerous and the tension between them stops feeling safe.
A crash leaves them with nowhere to hide. Rank, illusion, and restraint start to crack as fantasy collides with reality and desire refuses to stay contained. What begins as secrecy and control shifts into raw honesty, and once that line is crossed, neither of them can pretend it was ever just a game.
Destiny moves from guarded and self controlled to bold enough to claim what she wants. Roman shifts from frustrated authority to a man willing to risk everything for the woman he can’t stop choosing. Together, they turn power tension and obsession into something mutual, physical, and fiercely real.
An ultra-steamy, forbidden workplace romance about loneliness, desire versus duty, and choosing real intimacy over safe fantasy. It’s about two people who stop hiding, confront what they feel, and let love become the risk worth taking.
The Elevator Pitch: A starship captain and his fiercely disciplined communications officer bury their forbidden attraction inside holographic fantasies, convincing themselves that control is safer than confession. When a mission goes wrong and forced proximity strips away rank and illusion, desire turns dangerously real and the truth between them can no longer be programmed away. What follows is a collision of pride, obsession, and vulnerability that challenges them to risk everything for a love that refuses to stay virtual.
Captain Roman Parker and Lieutenant Commander Destiny Stewart are the definition of “wanting each other in silence.” The tension between them is thick from the start—unspoken, unresolved, and absolutely delicious. Both convinced their attraction is impossible, both hiding behind professionalism… and both secretly turning to the same unconventional solution. That alone had me grinning.
What truly makes this story shine is how human it feels, despite the futuristic setting. Beneath the holograms, advanced tech, and spacefaring chaos are two deeply lonely people who just want to be seen, wanted, and chosen. Roman’s quiet protectiveness and steady devotion melted my heart, while Destiny’s strength, competence, and hidden softness made her instantly lovable.
When circumstances force them together, the slow-burn tension finally snaps in the most satisfying way. The transition from fantasy to reality is seamless, emotional, and incredibly intimate. Watching Roman fall first—and fall hard—was pure romance gold.
I also loved the balance of humor, heat, and heart. The holographic mishaps are fun and clever, the chemistry is scorching, and the emotional payoff is strong. Nothing feels rushed, and every moment between them builds toward a connection that feels real and earned.
If you love mutual pining, forced proximity, protective heroes, mistaken identity twists, and steamy sci-fi romance with a big-hearted happily ever after, Prepared to Please deserves a spot at the top of your TBR.
Come for the holograms. Stay for the feelings. Leave believing that sometimes, the best love stories are the ones neither person planned for—but both secretly hoped for.

This sci-fi romance centers on a starship captain and his communications officer who have clearly fallen for each other—but strict regulations forbid any relationship between a captain and their direct officers. Instead of confronting their feelings, they take a very futuristic route: each programs a virtual version of their crush. What follows is a clever and intriguing exploration of technology and desire. As the virtual simulations become increasingly convincing, mistaken-identity moments blur the lines between what’s real and what’s programmed. At times, neither the characters nor the reader can be entirely sure whether an interaction is happening between the real people or their holographic counterparts. It’s a fascinating premise that raises big questions about intimacy, avoidance, and the ethics of simulated relationships. However, while the concept is strong and full of potential, I found it surprisingly hard to connect with the characters. Ironically, they often felt as distant as the programmed versions themselves. The story introduces the possibility of exploring how such technology impacts emotional intimacy, but it doesn’t deeply reflect on those implications in the way other sci-fi romances sometimes do. Overall, it’s an intriguing and creative idea that makes for an interesting read. For me, though, it remained more thought-provoking in theory than emotionally memorable in execution.

Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars - Mutual pining comes to startling realization when the right circumstances allow for the truth to come out between Destiny and Roman. Steamy little sci-fi novella!
