Abigail Adams is desperate for a new life. For freedom. To run from a past that refuses to loosen its grip. From a name that was once hers. And when she crosses paths with the guarded and watchful Taylor brothers–Lincoln and his older brother Lawson–the charming Beau Saint James, and the reckless and magnetic Jasper Jenkins, Abigail finds herself standing at the edge of something she’s never had before. A remote Montana ranch. Long days. Open skies. Four men whose attention burns slow and intense, and who make her wonder if this is finally it. But freedom has never come without cost, and Abigail knows better than most that what once was doesn’t stay buried forever.
For years, life on the ranch has been predictable. Safe. Comfortable. A hard-earned peace built on loyalty, routine, and land that’s been protected for generations. But cracks are starting to show. Boundaries are questioned. Deals are whispered behind closed doors. And someone wants what they have and isn’t afraid to push. Then Abigail Adams—or Anya Akimov, depending on who’s asking—steps onto their land. She arrives at the exact moment everything they’ve built is under threat, and wanting her quickly becomes tangled with the instinct to protect what’s theirs. As desire turns into something deeper, and danger presses in from all sides, they’re forced to confront a truth they can’t
Some freedoms are worth burning everything down for.
***Chasing Freedom is part ONE of a duet. It's a why-choose/polyamorous romance intended for mature readers only. The FMC doesn't choose between love interests. Be sure to check the content/trigger warnings in the front of the book before proceeding.
S.R. Clark is an indie author who lives in West Virginia with her husband, toddler, and hound dog. She has a soft spot for characters who live unapologetically for themselves and who will lay down their lives for the ones they love. When she’s not writing, she loves getting lost in a good book, cooking/baking, and exploring with her family.
To be fucked by jasper & lawson AT THE SAME DAMN TIME while being dominated by Lincoln ( YES SIR ) and praised by beau— hello a dream come true.
••
this was my first book by this author, and let me just tell you it will not be the last.
I had such a good time during the entire book I didn’t wanna put it down.
Abigail is on the run and in hiding from the Bratva and somehow ends up on a ranch with not one .. not two… BUT four hot ass cowboys 😏
The tension right away— is intense and brutal because I knew Abbie went through something to end up where she is.. but I still wanted them to get right into it 🙃😂
I loved how protective all the men were for her, and just there for her when she really needed it . They were patient.. and just all the green flags for her.
JASPER my man, I think I fell for him first with his flirty ways AND then Lawson came in and gave off daddy vibes and damn I was sat.
Enter Lawsons brother Lincoln and my god, HOLYFUCK. The quiet one will alwaaaays be the most intriguing to me .
That cliffhanger!! I knew it was coming, but was still so unprepared for the feeling it left me with.
Cowboy romances are never typically my go-to, but every time I read one, I'm always like I need more. This slow burn really slow-burned to the fullest! Abigail and her cowboys had great chemistry, amazing tension, and I love how S.R. Clark highlighted the relationships our FMC had with each MMC. The charming MMcs had me blushing so many times throughout the book with how they spoke, acted, and treated Abigail. They were careful around her at first, but never shied away from how they were feeling towards her. I love that they basically left it up to her to make the first move. They made her feel so safe and comfortable, and it was beautiful.
For all my why choose, small town romance, chosen family lovers, pick up this book!
Why choose X cowboys yess I devoured this book. I love the relationship between the characters and how protective the guys are of abigail. The spice was everything. loved every second of this book. I can’t wait for the next book.
I want to wrap Jasper and beau up into a little ball and hide them away.
“The sight of her fills me with a gentle warmth I can’t quite place.”
4 cowboys, 1 woman who’s escaped a terrible life of being married off and is now hiding.
If you’ve read Vittori Enterprises, then you’ll have met Abigail and the boys briefly (highly recommended to go back and read the two duets prior to this).
These men are good down to their bones, and they take her in no question asked.
I loved the character development of all the boys, especially Lincoln. Knew I’d love his grumpy ass.
5 star read, left on classic Sierra cliff hanger. I need the next book today thank you 🙏
Joe’s wise words: “If all of you are willing to love her louder than your fears, you’ll be lucky enough to have her.”
“Before, danger wore the faces of the men around me. It lived in their hands, their voices, their entitlement. It was aimed directly at me. This time? The men around me would burn the world down before letting danger touch me.“
Did I know this was a duet going in? Nope, but that’s on me because I like to go in blind! And now I will be not so patiently waiting for the next book after that cliffy! I am a why choose girlie and I was eating up this book with Abigail & her men! Add in the fact that they are cowboys and I was done for! The tension and spice is delicious as always!
Read if you enjoy: why choose, cowboys, found family, new beginnings, good girl, trauma rep, small town, protective mmcs, she’s older
Thank you to SR Clark for letting me read/review an early copy!
Abbie is running from her past. Her friend Josephine has helped her to start a new life in the middle of nowhere Montana. Abbie lives with four guys, Jasper (who is Josephine’s brother), Lawson and Lincoln who are brothers, and Beau.
Who doesn’t love four hot Cowboys? Crazy people, that’s who.
Let’s talk about Abbie. While she seems like she might be a damsel in distress, she’s really not. She’s determined and sassy and keep those boys on their toes. Each relationship she has is a bit of a slow burn, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
I like that this book is more focused on the relationships between her and each guy as well as the brother bond between the guys. I think it really helps with understanding the dynamic of their polyamorous relationship. (not that I need convincing).
This book does end on a cliffhanger so be warned. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Good book with so much spice. I loved the secrecy, scenery, men, mystery and much more. I enjoyed all the connections between them and seeing how they care for one another. The ending left so much open for the next one and had me filled with anxiety reading that ending
4 cowboys you say? Consider me fully invested from the start! This had tension that just kept building in the best way. The drama? Immaculate. The slow burn? Painfully good! Honestly, I devoured this faster than I’d like to admit and now I’m sitting here like… that’s it?? That’s how you leave me?! I’m so so ready for book 2 please 🙏🏻
The Willow Creek Ranch duet is written by S.R. Clark. Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this ARC. Chasing Freedom is the first book in the series. I am already a fan of this author, especially the why choose/reverse harem stories. S.R. Clark writes top tier why choose novels. Chasing Freedom was a chef's kiss for me! I advise that you check the triggers and be aware that this book ends on a cliffhanger. It will leave you wanting more.
I was hooked on Willow Creek Ranch from the very beginning. I could not turn the pages fast enough. Each character is so unique and complex. The location of this story is idyllic. Abigail is running. She is full of secrets and in search of a new life. Life has not been so easy for her, but she won the lottery on that ranch. Beau, Lincoln, Lawson, and Jasper have created a beautiful life together as a chosen family. Blood is not the only thing that makes you family. As soon as Abigail arrived at the ranch it seemed like destiny. A puzzle piece clicked into place.
Every single one of these characters has a past full of secrets and scars. All of the cowboys know that Abigail is running and healing. The burn is slow because they don't want to push too much and spook her off. Most of the time I am too impatient if the burn is too slow. The pace was perfect given all of the factors. The tension was building between Abigail and her lovers so naturally. One of my favorite elements of Chasing Freedom is the vast differences in the relationships. The relationships between Lincoln, Lawson, Beau, and Jasper individually, which naturally develops once you have known someone so long and so well. Then the relationship between each of the men with Abigail. It was one of the most relatable aspects of the storyline. The love and care within that unit of the five of them is so genuine.
S.R. Clark gave us incredibly effective visuals. I could really picture Willow Creek and everything (and everyone) it has to offer. I can typically say who was a favorite of mine, but this time I can't. The cowboys are different in so many ways that it is hard to choose just one, so same Abbie girl! I did not expect a few twists and I am eager to see how that unfolds later. I absolutely cannot wait for the release of the Willow Creek Ranch conclusion with the second book. I need answers to so many questions! All I know is that those men would do anything for Abigail, and they might just have to after that cliffhanger ending.
Chasing Freedom was def a wholesome claiming back my life Runaway story. Abigail took life by the reigns of the stubborn horse, and lead it to the water. The Ranch was all she was dreaming of, and a safety net she never thought she could get to. I adored the way these cowboys took her in and claimed her peace. I think there was a lot that the story was missing in terms of the breaks between chapters or slight details that could have been added in, but overall the book was a fast read! Excited to see what book 2 brings because DAMN that was a hell of a cliffhanger 😱 I know the Boys will fight hoof and nail to get their present back. I def cant wait to see the fight Abs has in her to get back to the Ranch and the life she deserves!
I absolutely LOVED everything about this cowboy, why-choose romance. Giddy up ya'll because this was a deliciously spicy ride full of beautiful hearts. S.R. Clark, you have yourself a new fan! This was so easy to devour. I just couldn't get enough of these characters and their story. I can't wait for the next book. I need more. I am on pins and needles!

Book 1 in A Willow Creek Ranch duet ends in a cliffhanger!
Thank you, S.R. Clark, for the opportunity to read this book.
Well tie me up and call me miss polly. I devoured this book. I loved the relationships between the MMC’s & how welcoming & safe they made Abigail feel. I remember Abbie from your previous book (which I also devoured last year ;) ) and it’s so nice to see where she ended up. I love that a lot of this first book was about Abbie healing & learning to trust again. The spice was hot A.F , and that ending omg I can’t wait for book 2
Omg!!! Yet another amazing why choose from SR Clark! Cowboys working on a ranch together …. Along comes a gorgeous red haired strong fighter of a woman! The spice is spicing!!! I love the personalities and the individual relationship she forms with each of them! That ending!!!!! Cliff hanger!! And now I wait for the next one!
I loved it! Abi doesn't have an easy past but she's strong and treated with so much care and love by her guys. Honestly, the relationship between all of them is lovely. I'm so excited for the next book🤍
This lady knows how to write banger after banger! This one is my current favorite
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ • Why choose • Cowboys • Found family / new beginnings • Trauma rep (OCD, anxiety) • Good girl • Older woman You’re not going to want to miss this! Thank you to the author for this arc
Umm whooooweee you better grab a fan cause you will need cooled down after this one!! Not one by FOUR HOT cowboys!!?? Sign me all the way up for the rodeo!!
This book not only had the steam and tension but it literally had me on the edge of my seat with the suspense and not know what is gonna happen next!! I need book two noww!!!
I loved all the men for their own unique ways and the way they all took care of Abby ughh I love them!!
Okay so get this, she is running from...let's say someone...and she runs out to, of all places, Montana. What the hell is in Montana? Well, fields, horses, cowboys, cows, and apparently some hell a good plot.
Abigail is on her way to get away from a crap situation. She finds herself in a new situation having run to a ranch. With four men who are just there for her whatever will she do with herself...well I let you read and find out, no spoilers here.
If you like: -Poly relationships -Praise -Dominance -Many M's with the F -A bit of the mafia/crime feel -A strong mystery
You should read this book!
S.R. Clark delivers on all counts and then some. You are pulled in and want to know more about the why, the who, the how! They do an amazing job of making the characters distinct.
God this was so good!! Abigail was such a great h and so strong because even after everything she’s been she still has hope in her heart. Adored the brothers Lincoln and Lawson. Beau was so charming and well jasper was main squeeze. They are such nice guys and they make Abi’s harem. There’s trouble brewing tho and I can’t wait for the rest!
I haven't read the books that are connected, but made me curious. Those four men wow, made me giggling, blushing and kick my feet while reading, Abi is lucky. Can't say that I didn't expect that ending.
ARC REVIEW Chasing Freedom by @author.s.r.clark ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️¼ (4.25/5)
This is part one — and yes, it ends on a cliffhanger. While this isn’t a dark romance, it does explore heavier themes, so definitely check your trigger warnings before diving in.
The relationships between Abigail and her men are refreshingly low-angst, with most of the tension coming from outside threats. I love this dynamic — it often creates a stronger foundation than romances that rely on a third-act breakup. That’s especially true here, since the men already have years of history living and working together before Abigail enters their lives. They’re honest and direct with each other, shutting down any potential jealousy before it can take root. Everyone is on the same page, which makes this feel like the perfect foundation for a healthy relationship.
My heart went out to Abigail. She’s been treated like property for most of her life before landing on the ranch. Suddenly, she’s surrounded by men who want to protect her, support her, and give her the freedom she’s never had. I hate the reason she ends up there, but I love that she finally finds a place where she can belong.
This might be the first why choose where I liked each MMC equally. Beau is warm and funny — total golden retriever energy — but with a darker edge simmering beneath the surface. Lawson is the quiet, grounding protector who makes Abigail feel truly seen. Jasper could easily lean playboy, but his trauma and vulnerability give him real depth. And Lincoln… he gives off responsible, quietly intense leader vibes — until he turns into a dirty-talking dom in the bedroom. And I’m always a sucker for a dirty-talking MMC.
I am absolutely dying to know where part two takes these characters. I’ll be counting down until it releases.
I really enjoyed the first part of this duet! It was very comforting and inspiring to read about Abigail’s fresh start. She is a girl trying to leave her traumatic past behind and settle into her new life with the help of four amazing guys: Lawson, Beau, Jasper, and Lincoln. They are exactly what anyone could hope for: empathetic, understanding, protective, and kind. I really enjoyed seeing how they communicate with each other and with Abigail, and how they know what they want. Even if some of them may be grumpy and reserved at first, they are always kind and none of them take it out on the FMC or mistreat her for no reason. I truly adored watching the dynamic unfold between Abigail and the guys; seeing them grow closer and gradually let their guard down to embrace their relationship was so rewarding. Watching Abigail became more confident, free, and even delightfully sassy version of herself made it feel like she finally found where she belongs. Even the intimate scenes are always filled with respect and communication, yet at the same time brimming with tension and passion. And that cliffhanger? Are you kidding me? I need the second part now!

I want book two now! Especially after that exciting cliffhanger. Cowboy hats off to S.R. Clark for writing this amazingly sweet and sexy why choose romance. I loved all of the green flags and positive poly rep with lots of communication and consent between Abigail and her cowboys.
The book opens with New Yorker Anya on the run from the Bratva, needing to start over and create a new life for herself by becoming “Abigail.” Josephine sends her to her brother Jasper’s ranch in Montana where Abigail can finally breathe in fresh air and find the freedom she needs and craves. Jasper is a successful professional bull rider and lives on the ranch with friend Beau and two brothers Lawson and Lincoln. Each man has his strengths and I found all their different personalities easy to love and lust over. I definitely see why Abby didn’t want to choose between them.
Montana life is peaceful, fun, and idyllic and S.R. Clark knows how to write spice! Then the drama comes in the form of Miles Keller, a developer that wants the ranch land the four men own. Unfortunately his threats aren’t empty and our little harem is at serious risk. I can’t wait for book two to see how this all plays out! Thank you for the ARC.
A reverse harem cowboy romance, with mafia ties, some seriously spicy spice, and a cliff hanger that just kills you?!! Yes, please! This is a banging (and I mean that in more ways than one) start to S.R. Clark’s Willow Creek Ranch, duet? Series? Doesn’t matter it’s fabulous and these cowboys have you melting and salivating and absolutely feral over the way they protect Abigail, treat her like she is freakin gold, and make the broken woman they took in as a favor come to life and shine. And of course Abigail gives as good as she gets giving her cowboys a soft place to land with their scars and all their broken pieces in a read that honestly just has such a fantastic way of transitioning from soft and quiet and careful at the start, giving Abigail room to find her footing after everything she’s been through, to the loud and comfortable and real of five people who’ve found everything with each other. It’s growly and gruff men with the awareness and heart to be the safe place a broken woman needs, need and love that blooms naturally and beautifully, and a kick of danger, all melded together perfectly in a romance that is absolutely on fire and as touching as it is hot and absolutely wonderful.
I want to thank SR Clark for the ARC copy. This review is my own.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ • Why choose • Cowboys • Found family / new beginnings • Trauma rep (OCD, anxiety) • Good girl • Older woman
This book was well written and well paced. It checked all the boxes, why choose, cowboys, found family, traumatic pasts, and an older woman. We meet the FMC, Abigail (aka Anya) as she lands in Billings Montana to live at Willow Creek Ranch. She carries some serious trauma from what she experienced back in NYC but she’s optimistic about her new freedom. The four MMC’s, Lawson, Lincoln, Jasper, and Beau, own and operate the ranch. They agree, as a favour to Jasper’s sister Joe, to help Abigail get back on her feet. But what they’re not expecting is the connection each of them feels toward the redhead. Abigail settles into ranch life seamlessly and into the unique connection she builds with each man. The yearning, the tension, the healing both the FMC and MMC’s find together, and the spice 🌶️ are what keeps you saying “just one more chapter.” The cliffhanger at the end is a killer. I cannot wait for book two.

Chasing Freedom is a cowboy, why choose romance, it’s part of a new duet but it follows on from The Vittori Enterprises duet so to get the full background on some of the characters mentioned you may want to read them first.
Abigail Adams needs a place to hide, a place to be safe and recover. Her friend Joe arranges for her to go somewhere she knows she’ll be looked after, Willow Creek Ranch, Montana where Lawson, Lincoln, Beau and Jasper live and work. Abigail is expecting to star over, find a job and move on. What she’s not expecting is to find a connection with four delicious cowboys who all want her!
I love a why choose book and anything cowboy gets my vote. The beginning of the book is slower but it soon picks up pace and as the relationship between Abigail and the guys develops you’ll get some spicy stuff! I loved the relationship between Abigail and the guys, it was going so well, until the end…
Erm, the cliffhanger! How long do I have to wait to find out what happens??? I don’t know if I can be patient.

This is Book 1 of the Willow Creek Ranch Duet.
UM!! HELLO, I am unwell after that ending. HOWEVER! I LOVED this book. I loved every single second of it even though that cliffy just about took me out!! 🤯 Not what I was expecting at all. But that’s what makes for an excellent read that you don’t want to put down.
Abigail (Anya) is on the run from a Bratva family. She was practically sold by her parents in order to marry one of the Bratva heirs. She is not safe and knows it. She finds help and ends up on this ranch in Montana with 4 fantastic men. These MMCs are chef’s kiss! Beau, Jasper, Lawson, and Lincoln.
They are immediately taken with Abigail and do everything they can to help her, protect her, build her up, and just make life all together better. She is adding to their lives as well. Adding depth they didn’t realize they were missing until she showed up.
There is still so much story to tell and I cannot wait for Book 2.
Wow wow wow every single book that S.R Clark writes it’s chefs kiss 🤌🏼
The first book I’ve read from her was Dangerously Safe – A McDermott Empire Novel (Book One), each book afterwards has been amazing and Chasing Freedom did not disappoint.
I wanted to know more about Abigail and the guys since we got a glimpse from them in The Prizes We Win – A Vittori Enterprises Novel (Book Two); where we also meet Josephine (Jasper sister) and her guys.
Every single one of these men, Lawson, Lincoln, Jasper and Beau made Abigail feel safe and wanted since the beginning of the book. One of my favorite scenes is when Abigail is sitting in her porch drinking coffee one morning and the guys come riding in from checking the fences in there horses…WOW 🔥🔥
I don’t want to spoil much but I can’t wait for part two. I knew something was coming in the end but what happens I didn’t see it at all.
S R Clark has once again hit it out of the park, i was eagerly awaiting this book and it has hit the spot! Who wouldn’t love 4 handsome cowboys?
Abigail (Anya) was an FMC i was eager to dive into after meeting her in Joe’s duet, i loved how this series moved out of the city and into Montana, its exactly what and who Abigail needed. Once again the MMC’s are perfect for the FMC, Lawson the protector, Beau the comic relief, Lincoln the damaged one and Jasper the daring one. They all have their own scars and as a group work to heal each other, i loved how while they are all friends, until Abigail they hadn’t expected to be with one woman and seeing them navigate this in a very realistic way.
That ending!! I cannot wait for the second part of this duet to see how their story ends 🤩
