He’s too young. She’s too headstrong. But the stars are about to align.

When a chance comes to finish the college degree she abandoned long ago, Ebony can’t resist. She’s older and wiser now, and she’s learned to accept and cherish the disability that has shaped her life. Now is the moment to follow her passion for the stars and perhaps see a once-in-a-lifetime natural phenomenon.

But then she’s paired up in astronomy class with a handsome athlete, who seems much more serious about her than he is about his studies. Marcus is everything she’s not: young, mobile, restless, and reckless. They have almost nothing in common—so why does he seem to believe they’re perfect for each other?

Challenges to her family, her freedom, and her feelings are threatening to throw everything she’s built into disarray and Ebony will have to choose: does she want her independence? Or a happily-ever-after with a man who’s her opposite in every way?

The Littlewood Romances are slow-burn, fade-to-black romances that follow the women of the Carmichael family and the small town of Littlewood. They’re standalones, but they’re best read in order as some family mystery unfolds in each story. There are five titles in the series so far: Thunderstorms (book 1), Honey (book 2), Wisteria (book 3), Saltwater (book 4), and Ink (book 5).

Ink is a heartfelt and charming addition to the Littlewood Romances series. Sue Macdonald delivers a story filled with warmth, emotional depth, and characters who feel wonderfully real and easy to connect with.

The romance unfolds at a gentle, satisfying pace, allowing the characters’ histories, vulnerabilities, and hopes to shine. There’s a lovely balance between small-town charm and deeper emotional moments, making the story feel both comforting and meaningful. The connection between the characters feels genuine, rooted in trust and understanding rather than rushed drama.

I’d highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy sweet contemporary romance with emotional substance and relatable characters. If you love small-town settings, second chances, and romances that focus on connection and growth, Ink is a lovely read.

Book 5 of Littlewood Romances. Can be read as a standalone.

'Challenges to her family, her freedom, and her feelings are threatening to throw everything she’s built into disarray and Ebony will have to choose: does she want her independence? Or a happily-ever-after with a man who’s her opposite in every way?'

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

As this is the last published book in the series I have to say it’s been really fun to learn about each of the Littlewood women in the Carmichael family. There are two story lines that flow through this series. The front one is good. I feel like some of the main characters are better fleshed out than others. I feel like Ebony has more to share so I am inclined to say though I would give this book a 3 star as a stand alone, because it’s in a series that is continuing to lead the back story forward it has answered some answers from the previous books very nicely and that gives itself the extra star. I am very ready for the next books whenever they come out.

a nice quick read.
ebony has accepted her disability and decided now is the perfect time to take the astronomy class to finish college in hopes of seeing a once in a lifetime event.
she gets partnered with Marcus, an able-bodied athlete who falls quick and hard for her.
while dealing with her disability, college, family problems, and a man half her age, she has to figure out if her independence is worth the possibility of a happily ever after.
