• This is the second book I’ve read by this author (out of two books!) that opens in an eating and drinking establishment with blatant misogyny and pitting women against each other.

• And in this case of this one, blatant skinny shaming:

The question came from the skinny waitress who’d just stopped beside his table, blocking his view of Skye. The woman’s perfume was so heavy it almost made his eyes water, the hungry way she was looking at him was so blatant he was surprised she didn’t lick her lips. ‘Because I’m willing to offer you something a heck of lot better than anything you’ll find on that menu.’

• Slim waitresses DO NOT BEHAVE LIKE THIS, just because they’re smaller than another woman!

She instantly scowled. “Your loss,” she muttered, before cattily adding, “Especially if you’re saving it for Skye. That girl wouldn’t know how to please a man even if she had a sex manual for fat chicks.”

• Nor do they behave like that. Maybe I live on Jupiter, but I've never met ANYONE who still uses a sexist term like "catty"!

unlike the scrawny bitch who had been so rude about her

• Gotta love a hero who thinks about women like that.

• The first 51% of this book takes place in less than twenty-four hours.

• When the heroine finds out the hero is a werewolf, her reaction is – I kid you not: ‘Oh, I read lots of shapeshifter romance books, so I have no problem with that.’

“I actually have this thing about shifter romances.”

• Then they have sex for the next twelve hours, no questions asked.

• The majority of pages in this book are devoted to sex scenes. I don’t think I’ve ever read a plotless book that was only about sex before. The hero might as well NOT be a supernatural being for all the page time dedicated to it.

• Despite the blurb promising some sort of abduction-of-women story, it happens off the page and isn’t really dealt with.

• Whenever the book isn’t sex, it’s the heroine whining about her “curvy” body, and the hero telling her over and over how perfect she is.

• Despite the “female empowerment” misogyny the author indulges in, MANY pages are devoted to the heroine admiring how LEAN and SLIM and MUSCLED the hero is. While he’s telling her over and over how she should eat more and more cheeseburgers (they only seem to eat cheeseburgers in this book), she’s commenting on his healthy eating habits. Uh – is he a slutty bitch too, or is that only reserved for women who are slim?

• Despite being up against a legion of supernatural baddies, when the heroine is told to stay put, (more than once) she decides: I’m not doing that! I want to help, even though I’m physically useless and will just put everyone in danger.

Unfortunately, this is the second book this week I’m going to have to tell NetGalley I hated.

~ Book provided by the author, Rhyannon Bryd (Thank you!). It does in no way influence my opinion nor my review. ~

Can you believe it’s already the eighth installment of the Bloodrunner series? Well, me neither. Time seems to fly by so fast. It’s crazy. Anyway, moving on to my review.

Wild Wolf Claiming tells the story of Elliot, who we got to know right in the beginning of the series, when he stood on the wrong side. Thankfully he made the right choice and changed sides. Since then he has been with the Bloodrunners. That happened nine years ago story-wise. Yes, little Elliot grew up. Can you believe it? He’s an adult now, doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have a lot of baggage. And I mean A LOT of baggage. He can’t let go of the past and has this thing with control, but I can’t really judge him regarding what he went through in the past. Still, he was one awesome character :) and he loosened up the farther I read.

Then there is his mate, Skye. She was a cute little thing, who took the fact that Elliot is a werewolf really well, meaning she didn’t freak out. She just accepted it as a fact. She didn’t actually was a badass character. She was a little dependent on Elliot, but I still liked her. And in my opinion not every character has to be a badass, that would get boring really fast. As long as I can connect with the characters I’m fine and I could – with both, Elliot and Skye.

>> He’d only seemed to be worried about her, and that little fact was dangerously close to melting her into such a huge, embarrassing puddle of I’m crushing on him so bad and seriously want to have his babies it wasn’t even funny. ~ 11% <<

I liked that all the previously couples appeared for a short while again. It was really fun to see how their relationships grew (especially Cian’s and Sayre’s). Also I’m glad we got to see some of the Mercs, like Lev, again and I hope he will get his book soon. Even though I’m sure we will get Max’ book first, because of the whole story that played in the background in this book and we don’t really know anything about. It’s intriguing.

The one dilemma I have now is that I gave Blood Wolf Dawning, the book before Wild Wolf Claiming, 4 stars. And I liked BWD slightly more than WWC, but I don’t want to give WWC 3,5 stars, because it was still on the same level as BWD. So I guess it get’s the same rating. *feels no guilt about it*

I’m just forever ruined by Cian (and his book). I love me some Irishman ;)

Now, please be so nice and give me the next book, Rhyannon. Would you? Please? I’m begging you. *offers virtual cookies* No? Damn. ;)

Also just a little info: All books of the Bloodrunner-series can be read as stand-alones if you don’t care for minor spoilers. So try them. :)

Elliot Conner’s past has taught him that nothing worth having ever comes easy and now he’s found his life mate just when things are about to get bloody, dangerous and wild in this thrilling paranormal romance.

Skye’s life suddenly becomes very dangerous as she forced to go on the run with the sexy Elliot and the readers can’t help but get drawn into the story as they try to stay one step ahead of a madman’s army. Excitement keeps the adrenaline pumping as unexpected twist and surprises keep the characters on their toes and tension builds as the Bloodrunners try to determine just what the madman’s evil plot is and where he is holding the missing women. Vivid images are painted by the well written scenes and details that bring the story to life and make it easy for the reader to become caught up in the intriguing events as they guarantee that there is never a dull moment.

The chemistry sizzles with sweet and steamy passion but the relationship is on very rocky ground as their personal demons continuously interfere which has lots of emotional turmoil flowing from the pages with some heated encounters. Strong, captivating characters capture the heart while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot thrills readers with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.

With random women completely disappearing, the Bloodrunners have their work cut out for them but I am certain that the sexy werewolves are to the task of putting a stop to the madman’s evil whatever his ultimate plan may be. Elliot caught my interest a ways back in the series and I was so excited that he finally got his own story and I wasn’t sure at first whether I was going to like Skye but it didn’t take long for her win me over as well as will make a good couple and I can’t wait to find out what happens in Max’s story as it actually takes place at the same time as this one.

He was supposed to protect Skye from becoming a madman’s next victim but Elliot desires her more than his next breath and now things about to get bloody, dangerous and wild in this exciting paranormal romance. The Bloodrunners are always an exciting and sexy bunch of werewolves to visit and I was completely caught up in Elliot and Skye’s story from the very beginning, especially since Elliot caught my attention a ways back in the series. I have a few theories as to what the madman may be up to and I can’t wait to find out which one, if any it may be, but one thing is for certain, the Bloodrunners will do what it takes to put an end to his evil.

OMG!!! I completely forgot how much I adore this series. I purchased this book months ago and never really picked it up. But honestly I'm so mad at myself for taking so long to get around to it. Elliott and Skye are amazing characters. The way they just fall into each other and don't question what they feel is so refreshing. Yes they have some obstacles but to be honest their perspective was refreshing. And as with all the Bloodrunner books the action and suspense was on par with some of the best I've read. I can't wait to see where Rhyannon takes this twist in the series. I hope Max's story is next.. Lol

This book never really caught my attention. You'd think that an armed robbery, a trashed apartment, and hot scenes would be exciting, but they just fell flat for me. I skimmed and skipped a lot, so I really can't give the book a rating.

I'd been looking forward to this book so much that I'm doubly disappointed.

I’m still kind of behind in the Bloodrunners series. Well… not exactly behind, more like ahead. Do I have you totally confused? Truth is, I started this series like I start a lot of series. I got hooked on the description of the current book in front of me and ignored the fact that particular book was in the middle of the series. Now I’m 8 books in and STILL haven’t read the first 3 books in the series. *sigh* I’ll catch up… or back track… eventually, honest. Until then, I’m enjoying getting to know everyone, even though I don’t know all of their back stories. ;)

Elliot and Skye were an interesting couple. Beyond the danger Skye was in, most of the tension in Wild Wolf Claiming came from fear of rejection and lack of communication between the couple. The other Bloodrunner members were great and welcoming toward Skye, but she was getting mixed signals from Elliot and he didn’t know how to explain. Basically, they were adorable… in a frustrating sort of way.

There was plenty of danger and even more mystery, which is great because that means there’s more to come. Maybe I can get caught up by the time the next book is released ;)

I received Wild Wolf Claiming in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Love the series!

Love all the books in this series .. and this one was no exception. Love watching all of the Bloodrunners find their life mates! And I like that for each new book, we catch glimpses of the other characters and their new mated lives. Definitely a must read if you've read all the other books.

I really liked this story! Elliot not running from his life mate was a nice change of pace for the Bloodrunners series, and I loved how Skye wasn't model perfect like most female leads are. I'm really looking forward to Max's story!

Gosh, I love a Rhyannon Bryd book! This book was heavy on the romance and sex but a little light on the action. It was still a great read and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Great addition to the series. It was extra special reading Elliot's story after knowing how terrible his teen years were. Skye was just perfect.

second attempt to read the Bloodrunner series, because I loved Elliot in Last Wolf Standing. this book got me very excited because he was such an adorable 'fallen angel' before, and I couldn't wait to know his story once he's grown up. BUT AGAIN only the first THREE CHAPTERS were entertaining, the rest was as flat as the heroine's character.

so the (+):

- the first three chapters were both funny and sexy as hell
- the flirting session is cute af
- basically the positive thing is mostly Elliot and the author's faithful characterisation of him

and the (-) (brace yourselves):

- too many adjectives again, God. it is SO repetitive it's not even funny anymore
- too much description, yet it's still lacking when it comes to feeling the actions (as in fights, sex, and even dialogues)
- fight and sex, fight and sex, on and on we dance. there is no emotional connection between Elliot and his supposed to be mate
- the villain does not seem even real in this story omg. WHERE IS HE ACTUALLY? DITCHING HIS JOB?
- sadly, this is just like a PWP book

conclusion:
for me the hero has done everything in his power while the heroine, flat that she is, has not done anything right or impactful or meaningful until the end of the book. it is such a waste of a potential character. and the plot is too weak, another waste. and to top it off,

I want one star for this, but I'll give it two since the beginning was quite enjoyable!

Eli Conners and Max Doucet had come to the small town of Charity, Pennsylvania to stop an insane man from collecting more women for his collection of sex slaves, rescue them women he has collected and take him out permanently. Max has gone to find Vivian Jackson, roommate to one of the missing women while Elliott went to protect Skye Hewitt, the other roommate. Both women were on the psychopath's to be acquired list. Then Elliott catches a glimpse of the curvy and vivacious Skye and his world changes forever. He has finally found the one and she is his alone to protect and love. He saves his fated mate from the kidnappers and now all he has to do is convince Skye belongs with him all of him and remove the threat to her forever. Piece of cake right?

Wild Wolf Claiming is a fast paced story continues the Bloodrunner saga. This installment is a fun read for any shifter fan and leaves the door open for more to follow. The plot is well thought out and with characters that are both attracted to one another even as they are distrustful. Each holds back part of themselves and has past emotional scars to work through. The danger remains high so that eventually they have to work together to find the source. My rating is 5 out of 5 stars. If you like shifter romances then jump on this one. It is the start of offshoot from the original Bloodrunner series so it is easily read as a stand-alone, but with a hint of more to come.

I thought the Bloodrunners had all told their stories, seems I was wrong. Rhyannon Byrd has more in store for us.. YAY..

I have enjoyed this series for years and I admit, it offers a perfect way to enjoy a lazy afternoon. It's light hearted sure but it's a fun message and characters you can't help but like.

Wild Wolf Claiming takes place out of the alley and we get to see the wolves in action once again. \

Elliot Connors honestly feels he needs redemption, the son of one of the elitists that almost destroyed the pack he has forever blamed himself for his father's actions. And even those he committed that he had no alternative but to do. So when he meets Skye, he is conflicted. He wants her, shoot he knows she's his but he doesn't feel as though he deserves her.. And of course it's his job to protect her not woo her!

Skye is a woman with a desire to better herself. Alone except for one friend she discovers that there is something going on and really all Skye wants to do is protect herself and her best friend. When a sexy man comes calling and claims he's there to protect her, she's dubious at best.. but the facts force her to rethink her reality.

Fast paced and sometimes a bit unrealistic.. but hey this is a book about a wolf shifter falling in love so unrealistic is ok. It's fun. Just that, pure and simple fun.

I wasn't sure I wanted more of this series but you know what? I am waiting not so patiently for the next books.

A quick 4-5hr read which is to be expected from a Mills n Boon book. That by no way means I didn’t like it, i love a good Mills n Boon but this was from their Nocturnal genre, something I haven’t read before.

Elliott Connors has had a rough traumatic upbringing that left him abandoned by his parents at 17 for apparently embarrassing them, leaving him to join the Bloodrunners. Elliott is a Lycan and a single one at that. He and Max are on another errand looking for missing women who all seem to be linked and the FBI have sought their help.

Skye Hewitt is a waitress in a rundown American town and lives in the worst part of the neighbour hood. After Elliott and Max are given Intel that Skye and her room mate Vivian are next on the hit list they seek them out. Elliott is given Skye to watch and Max, Vivian. What Elliott wasn’t prepared for was for Skye to be his soul mate and when lightning strikes Elliott is desperate to keep her safe and will annihilate anyone who tries to harm or even get near her, but Skye has deep secrets and Elliott isn’t willing to share his either, but with a female kidnapping psycho after them, somethings gotta give.

If it ain't broke don't fix it and a knock off won't satisfy like the real thing.
Wild Wolf Claiming lacks the authenticity of Byrd's usual writing style that captivates and connects reAders with characters. This book is an anomaly. The reader drifts through this story never connecting with the charActers and there is no anticipating a next book in this series. Bring back the real thing.

Wild Wolf Claiming is the eighth book in the Bloodrunners series and I've read a few of the books and while I didn't love them I've definitely enjoyed them but sadly I couldn't get into this one. I normally don't have a problem with instant love connections but it just wasn't working for me with Skye and Elliot.

This book was really just fluffy smut (not that I'm complaining) and didn't really have much in the way of plot. I did like the introduction of the "warg" mythology and am excited to see how it plays out with the mercs, but Elliot and Skye really didn't have much to add to the continuing story. Hot, but left me wanting more of the world beyond Elliot's cabin.
