New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott brings you Stage Short Stories & Novellas. A compilation of previously available stories set in her rockstar romance world. Now together in one collection for the first time.
Short Stories: “Cocky” and “Mal and Anne + 1” feature Mal and Anne from the Stage Dive series.
Novellas:
Strong When the girl of your dreams is kind of a nightmare. As head of security to Stage Dive, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, Sam Knowles has plenty of experience dealing with trouble. But spoilt brat Martha Nicholson just might be the worst thing he’s ever encountered. The beautiful troublemaker claims to have reformed, but Sam knows better than to think with what’s in his pants. Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to make his heart fall into line.
Closer When a stalker gets too close to plus-size model Mae Cooper, it’s time to hire some muscle. Enter former military man turned executive protection officer Ziggy Thayer. Having spent years guarding billionaires, royalty, and rock n roll greats, he’s seen it all. From lavish parties through to every kind of excess. There’s no reason some Instagram stylist should throw him off his game. Even if she does have the most dangerous curves he’s ever seen…
Love Song There’s always the one that got away. Or kicked you out… The new darling of rock n’ roll, Adam Dillon, is ready to show his ex-girlfriend, Jill Schwartz, what a mistake she made kicking him to the curb. So maybe he wasn’t the best of boyfriends. Writing great songs and climbing to the top of the charts isn’t easy. Only problem is, he’s fast finding out that success isn’t everything.
The Rhythm Method It all started in Vegas… After a wild and tumultuous beginning to their relationship, Evelyn Thomas and her rock star husband David Ferris have been happily married for years. Nothing needs to change, their life together is perfect. Which means that change in the shape of an unexpected pregnancy is bound to shake things up some. But could it be for the better?
Just What I Needed When the Stage Dive crew decides to help, they do it in a big way. Nanny and housekeeper Jude has been going through a dry patch. Getting ready to dip her toes back into the dating pool is a little nerve racking. And the offers of assistance from her boss, David Ferris, and his band are not helping. Right up until music producer Dean Jennings arrives to work on the band’s latest album.
Stage Dive is the compilation of previously released novellas and short stories set as part of the Stage Dive series. 1001 Dark Nights (where most of these could be found) recently folded, and the authors all got their rights back. It's great to spend time with the Stage Dive members and their partners, who all feature prominently in these works. I really enjoyed this, and I wonder if the shorter length worked better for me in this universe. The full length books are no less insta-love and immediate commitment than the novellas, so the relationships in this universe seem made for this format.
Strong: In conversation with others who have read the series, two things are true: Everyone loves Sam the charismatic body guard and wanted to know more, and no one wanted Martha of money taking, cheating on David, trying to break up David and Ev, trying to run off Lizzy fame to have an HEA. Nevertheless, she's back nannying for Ben & Lizzy, starting a new career as a manager for new singer Adam, and getting involved with Sam. She's still prickly and abrasive, still controlling, I wouldn't say she *necessarily* undergoes the redemptive character arc we might expect, but she does apologize to Ev for trying to break them up five years earlier, and she and Ben and Lizzy seem like they are in a great space, so who are we top judge.
Closer: Mae Cooper is a supermodel, who lives in the same apartment building as the Stage Dive gang, and uses their security company when she gets a stalker. Ziggy is the bodyguard assigned to her. There's some great stuff here where she worries he is only attracted to her in her full model mufti, "he had to be reacting to the ultra-glamorous model Mae Cooper. Not the boring old clumsy forgetful real me who wanted to be loved." This is, of course, the core story of any celebrity/normie relationship, along with the inverse of "I'm never going to be able to..." of fitting into the celebrity glamor life. This is VERY insta-love, but I guess in the novella space a little fated mates level attraction moves things along. I like how Scott did a fake out with when will we make this relationship public, and that the path forward to making it work was on page.
Love Song: All the stories around Adam fell under the category of trying to Make Fetch Happen for me, he's the new singer Ben was producing, Martha is his manager (now that I think about it, she really nepo-babied into that job). He's been in the background of the other novellas living it up at the clubs with the ladies, and is a massive hit due to his "she done me wrong" themed album about his ex girlfriend and True Love Jill. One of the reasons the broke up was his reliance on her to support them and not committing to the relationship. So when he send Jill a "seven digit" check, she comes in person to return it.
Anyway, from there its a messy path to explaining why he never told her he loved her when he's telling everyone in song she was the love of his life, to her examining why she didn't say it to him (my hypocrisy meter was blaring at the "everyone knew the guy had to say it first" of it all). But with a declaration like "But it's not a totally bad idea. I mean, we had some good times. We worked well together for a while. Would getting back together honestly be so bad?" how could they resist.
There's an interesting thing that Jen said on the Fated Mates episode about this series, about the men using money and power as a weapon. I was thinking of this as Adam sent a check big enough to get a reaction, and offers to have Jill come on tour as hairstylist (so employee, not partner), paid by him. The second is a weird complication in the relationship, but I can see if he thinks he's not enough to offer then the cloak of making it about money might be. That particular aspect doesn't get resolved, but let's pretend it works out.
The Rhythm Method: This one is a doozy. Ev, a woman who is canonically slender, and has access to the best medical care on call, doesn't realize she is pregnant until she delivers the baby in the bathroom. There's some "blah blah tilted uterus, blah blah I did go up a size" but still. Fun fact, I didn't know I was pregnant until well after four months, but I had been assured it was medically impossible after several years of attempts. So I guess surprise? But I am a size 10 and it was four months. Also, in the Stage Dive universe, Lizzy was 15 weeks pregnant and they were talking like she had a bump and only fit maternity clothes, so....
Anyhoo, this novella is mostly about the giant whack this unexpected baby does to David and Ev's mental health. Ev has a lot of guilt and feelings of Bad Mother for not realizing, and David just has a full on freak out. He leaves the relationship "things had gone so badly that he had to step back form our life together" because he could not make the leap from their determined child-free state to having a newborn. Anyone with a less than absolutely supportive co-parent will resonate with Ev's feelings about David going out drinking without planning ahead, and the subsequent blow ups. Scott nails the difficulty and loneliness of breast feeding and caring for a new baby, while her body is so hormonal.
Listen. David absolutely having made this mess by not talking to Ev should maybe not try to solve it without talking to Ev. He's leaving her alone with a newborn for days (with the support group of the wags). It's great that they are on page seeing joint and individual counselors. And he does a great and fulsome apology at the end, fully recognizing the affects of his actions. I thought this novella was really compelling and also EW DAVID.
Just What I Need: Here we have Dean (of one date with Lena fame) and David and Ev's nanny Jude meeting, and having an instant fated mate level attraction to each other with "This is not love at first sight. It is like at first coffee." They immediately are together, there's very little conflict, it's all good. This capper to the novellas basically is what might be Kylie Scott's Core Story (at least for this entire series and all the ancillary works) of "I know we've only known each other for like a day and a half, but you inspire a lot of emotion in me. I feel like there's a real connection between us."
This read was a lot of fun, thank you to the author for the arc.
As a long time Stage Dive fan, it was nice to revisit these extra stories and have them all in one place. The Stage Dive series is one of my comfort reads. I’m thankful we’ve been able to get so much extra of them.
It's been quite a few years since I read the original series so it was great to see familiar characters and how they've evolved. Short stories and novellas bringing back some characters I loved and others I've forgotten. Plenty of happy endings, love, engagements, marriage and children. I'm still laughing my way remembering their adventures past and present.
If you've read the stage dive series then you'll love the follow up stories here...now I want to go back and reread :)
I love the Stage Dive series, so when this book came out, I couldn’t wait to dive in and get engrossed back into their world. It was awesome to see Sam get his own story and his happy ending. I won’t say the other couples, because come, I want you to find out for yourself. I don’t want to spoil anything. I will say this: the other stories are just as amazing. Being able to read about the band and their partners years later is awesome. Some of them don’t change at all and have you laughing out loud.
Amazing. If you are a fan of the Stage Dive books your in for a treat. A look into where their stories ended. All of our favorites in here , and a bunch of new people too. If you missed this universe of books you are in for a treat. Personally I'm just happy to read about Malcolm again . His character is still my favorite.
CLOSER OMG yayyyyy!!! loved all the snark, humor and sarcasm, and the brief glimpses of our Stage Dive favorites. Throw in some suspense and this is the BEST way to spend a few hours - lost in the world and words of Kylie Scott! Very well done! All the stars!
STRONGER ALL THE STARS!! KS took a character that we all cursed and threw things at and made her real and showed her flaws and made her softer but not too soft. Sam loves Martha and he accepts her the way she is and they way shes always been. People make mistakes and if they are lucky they grow from them. It just sucks that in this case all the people who witnessed those mistakes are still in Martha's life and always will be because of her brother... What a fantastic glimpse into the Stage Dive world again! I knew I missed these guys but didnt realize how much until Mal opened his mouth! ;)
LOVE SONG Second chance, swoony romance at its best! Falling in love when you're young and stupid is easy. Growing and changing together is the hard part. Jill and Adam find out how to take that young love and make it forever.
If you are a fan of the Stage Dive series in any way, shape or form you will want to scoop this set of short stories pronto! These are re-issued rather than new reads but, honestly, it had been a while so they almost read like new. The core group has expanded over the years and these novellas/shorts chronicles so many of their stories. And of course a heartfelt dose of all the characters I’ve grown to love.
For me, rereading these stories felt like visiting a beloved, hip old(er) friend. The dialogue is always sharp, whether funny or emotional, and (honestly) makes the reading too quick in my opinion. I want to savour the words and with these bite-sized reads I get to do just that. Not that anything is lost even when the page count is low, it’s just condensed fun!
I would definitely recommend getting to know the series before starting this – it will feel like dessert!
I love it when authors compile all of their short stories and Novelas into one book where all of them are easy to find. Two of the Novelas I had already read, but the other two and all of the short stories were completely new to me.
I adore Mal and love every single scene that he is in. My ultimate favorite though, was when he sent Eve three different bouquets of flowers to apologize for his behavior. The notes on the flowers were really what topped it off. You will just have to read the book to find that short story and the notes.
This book felt like a great way to catch up with the Stage Dive crew and see what they’ve been up to as the years progress. It doesn’t take us too far into the future but enough that we get a sense of how they have settled into their lives. If you liked the four Stage Dive books, you’ll love this.
Stage Dive: Short Stories & Novellas by Kylie Scott is a collection of 2 short stories and 5 novellas all based on and around the incredible Stage Dive Series.
There’s the return of my favourite 4 main band members and their wives and stories where we see development in their personal relationships as well as some of the secondary characters getting their own HEA, even if I initially think she didn’t deserve it - IYKYK!
One thing you can count on is the loveable, cheeky and fun, Mal to make you smile all throughout this book.
As a long-time fan of Kylie Scott, this compilation of novellas and shot stories from her Stage Dive Series made my day! Take a wall down memory lane with some of our avarice characters and get a huge helping of that happy, nostalgic feeling. I read the Stage Dive Series when it first came out, and I forgot how much I loved it. Jump back in with these peaks into the lives of those characters we loved!!! ARC Review
4 stars. This was a fun catch up with the Stage Dive gang! I loved meeting some fun new characters and reading some old favorite stories and novellas. Here are my thoughts about them:
Cocky - 4 stars. This was a cute, spicy short story with Mal and Anne where they roll play in the book store and decide to try for a baby.
Mal + Anne + 1 - 4 stars. This was a sweet birth story for Mal and Anne.
Strong - 3 stars. Strong is a novella addition to the Stage Dive series and is Martha's story. Martha is David's ex and Ben's sister. This novella focuses on Martha's romance with Sam, who is a longtime bodyguard of the band. Martha has been living in NY for years. She finds herself at loose ends so she moves back home and is living with Jimmy and his family. A romance blossoms between her and Sam, who has secretly had feelings for her for years.
This was an ok book for me. I was weary about reading Martha's story because she was such a witch in previous books. She is slightly improved here, but I still didn't completely love her character. I was able to empathize with her a little bit, though. Sam was okay to me. He was very proper speaking with not much personality. I didn't feel much chemistry between them either. This novella was pretty short and not much to it. It felt like just a series of scenes.
Overall, though, this was a quick, easy read. While I didn't totally love it, it was still not a bad book and kept me entertained. I still love this series and this author and look forward to more from her in the future!
Closer - 3.75 stars. Closer is a really cute read! This is Mae and Ziggy's story. Mae is a plus sized model (think Ashley Graham) who has a stalker. Ziggy is hired to be her round-the-clock protection. As they spend time together, they find themselves attracted and enjoying each other's company. This gradually turns into them falling for each other.
I really enjoyed this book. The only reason I am not rating it 4 stars is because it took me a little too long to feel any chemistry between the couple. Especially with Ziggy calling Mae "Miss" all that time. Still, the story is cute and enjoyable. Mae is down to earth and easy to love. Ziggy was protective and sweet. I thought they were a great match and really liked them together, once their relationship turned romantic. I enjoyed seeing the other Stage Dive characters too.
Overall, this was an entertaining, fun and sweet novella and a great addition to the Stage Dive series!
Love Song - 3.75 stars. This was a good read! Love Song is a fun addition to the Stage Dive series. It is Adam and Jill's story. Adam is an up and coming rock star in the band that opens for Stage Dive. Jill is his ex-girlfriend. She broke up with Adam because he seemed to only focus on his music, instead of getting a job or letting her know how he felt about her. Soon after their breakup, Adam made it big in the music business and wrote an album of angry songs about her. When Jill receives a huge check in the mail from him and no explanation, she shows up to demand answers from him. The couple hashes out their problems and figures out why they didn't work out the first time. Along the way, they find they really still love each other and are meant to be together.
This was a quick, enjoyable read. I really liked Jill and Adam. I was glad they were able to get back together and find happiness even better than before with more communication. They were romantic and sweet. I did wonder how long the couple had been broken up. I also wanted a bit more remembering of the good times between them before they broke up to see why they would want to get back together. If this was a bit longer of a novella, those questions might could have been answered. Still, I did enjoy this book. I also enjoyed catching back up with the Stage Dive band member couples.
Overall, this was an entertaining book. I still really enjoy this series and look forward to more from Ms. Scott in the future!
The Rhythm Method - 3.5 stars. The Rhythm Method is a novella set in the Stage Dive world. It focuses on David and Ev, from the book Lick, whose worlds are rocked by a suprise birth, like something right out of the tv show "I didn't know I was pregnant". Now they find themselves parents completely unexpectedly and, even though they did want to be parents someday, the reality of it really shakes up their lives.
I love David and Ev as a couple and loved them in their own book, as well as the other books in the series. But I really hated the conflict and some of the behavior between them in this book. It seemed immature and made me doubt their love somewhat, especially David's behavior and treatment of Ev. Also, while I thought the suprise pregnancy aspect was interesting and fun, I didn't find the baby or birth details realistically written at all. Still, I liked the book in general and enjoyed being back in the Stage Dive world with the other characters I love. However, I did feel like it lacked some of the love and nostalgia I expected to find. However, I will continue to be a fan of this series and look forward to what Kylie Scott comes up with next.
Just What I Needed - 3.5 stars. Just What I Needed is a cute Stage Dive novella featuring Jude, David and Ev's nanny, and Dean, the band's music producer. Jude lives in the Ferris's guest house but she doesn't have much of a personal life beyond her job as a nanny. When Dean comes to town to work with the band on an album, he stays in the guest house at well. The two feel an attraction when they meet, but Jude doesn't have much confidence because Dean has dated supermodels in the past. Still, he is interested and they get together and begin dating.
This was a light, quick read. Jude and Dean's story felt a little easy without a lot of depth. I liked them, but they didn't have a ton of chemistry and I wondered if they would have gotten together if it wasn't so convenient. Still, this story was entertaining and a fun dip back into the Stage Dive world. I love this series and I'll read any books to come from it and from Ms. Scott in the future.
Overall, I enjoyed this collection and look forward to what Ms. Scott comes up with next!
It's so good diving back in the Stage Dive Universe . I remember reading Lick for the first time and meeting all the characters . Back then I thought that Mal was so hilarious with the strangest sense of humor . Those two short stories about Mal and Annie made me laugh out loud on all the shenanigans those two get themselves into . But them becoming parents that was so priceless . And Mal was his hilarious self through everything . And seeing all the Stage Dive members made my day .
Strong : I loved so much Martha and Sam's story. It was edgy , sarcastic , with so much witty banter and a lot of Mal comments . You definitely wouldn't escape the Mal's remarks no matter how hard you tried . Martha didn't have a chance, and she tried. Strong was a battle of wills and emotions. Strong willed, smart and demanding Martha met her match in silent and patient Sam, who bid his time and made his move when the time was right. And he has his hands full with Martha . Loved it Martha and Ev cleared the things between them . At the end Martha and Sam got their happy ending .
Closer: I loved Mae and Ziggy so much. And all the sneak peaks on Stage Dive characters, priceless. Lena and Evie were the besties that Mae needed. Mae is that super lush curvy model with a stalker situation . Hence the super sexy and stoic bodyguard assigned to her by Sam's firm . I loved that the story is told in first person and in the FMC POV. That way we have access to everything that Mae thinks and that is so calming. Because some of those thoughts run through my mind on a several different occasions concerning my relationships. Yeah, so totally normal. Mae was a beautiful distraction for Ziggy but that guy was a stoic and kept his cool on the job and he managed to solve the stalker situation. The tension and the angst were so high and palpable. And those two had such great work ethic. Once the case was closed Ziggy admitted his feelings for Mae . And they had that strange conversation that was the most awkward confession. Now I get all the angst and the tension but Ziggy and Mae were steaming hot together. Mae was a true queen when dealing with her ex and that meeting was a therapeutic one and she got closure. The epilogue was chef's kiss and totally on brand with those two.
Love Song:As a huge Stage Dive fan I love all those novellas with all those tidbits about characters I already love. But adding stories about some of the side characters is another level of fangirling. And being a fan of a second chance romance Love Song filled my heart with joy. Adam first appeared in Strong and Closer as the heartbroken bad boy rockstar who finally made it after a breakup. Writing an angry rock album is his way of working his issues. But that music is haunting his ex and that girl has something to say about it. Hence Jill meets Martha and then Adam. And Martha here is so different from the first time I read about her in a similar situation. Jill is here just to fix something with Adam so she can get closure. But Adam had another idea. He apologized , showed his true feelings and asked for a second chance. Jill's sarcastic remarks to herself in her internal monologues were chef's kiss. Adam definitely evolved and yes, I loved it that Jill allowed herself that second chance .
The Rhythm Method:Lick was my favorite Stage Dive romance and my first, so Ev and David are my favorite . I loved seeing them through the series and here and there in the novellas but to have a whole novella about them made my day. And seeing all the others after seven years was so good. But those two getting the surprise of their lives was priceless. It was a great game of what if. Because if Ev doesn't remember her marriage what will happen if she doesn't know she's pregnant. A lot if you ask me and Kylie Scott answered so good to that. That's how Ev ends alone at home while the band is ending their tour. And she's scared and doesn't know what's happening to her. And Mal coming as a savior and helping her was so uncommon. I laughed at his antics but was hurting with Ev. Then everything crushed down on David and Ev. And under pressure Dave couldn't cope well with their new reality when Ev have to. And this time Jimmy returned the favor and helped his brother. For a short time those two had to catch up with everything others have nine months to get used to. They managed to get back to themselves .And I loved how they named their baby boy. That epilogue was so sweet and swoony . But that hint about future shenanigans makes me feel a little sorry for Jude , the nanny savior .
Just What I Needed:I love all the Stage Dive novellas but this one got me from the first page . Jude was such a fun and sarcastic character when she appeared in The Rhythm Method and I remember how at the end the whole Stage Dive family decided to interfere in her love life. When Jimmy played matchmaker for Lena this doesn't end well ... for Dean . But Jimmy and Lena ended together . Now they are setting up Jude with Dean . And let me tell you that close proximity started awkward went through a few misunderstandings and ended in total bliss . Jude and Dean were inseparable. Dean was mesmerized and all in from the start . Jude was her awkward and sarcastic self and that got her the boy . I loved their date ideas and get to know you quiz . Now if there's some more from the Stage Dive world I'm so all in . If you ask me Bon needs his story .
Thanks to Kylie Scott for the opportunity to get back to the Stage Dive Universe by reading and reviewing an early copy of this book .

The Stage Dive family are always my favourite to return to. With this collection, readers are able to visit with the core four couples along with some side characters having their own time in the spotlight. All of these offerings are well written and cement this series of being my favourite of all time.
Cocky and Mal+Anne+1 are both short chapters that draw fans back into the quirky life of drummer Mal. Saucy and emotional, these words made me feel like I was visiting with old friends who I'd not seen in a while. How easy it was to be drawn back into loving the silly and sexy Mal Ericson and his ever patient bride, Anne.
Strong is a Novella that follows Martha and Sam. Martha had been depicted as a villan through a lot of the series, I was curious about how Kylie Scott was going to turn that around to make her a lead who I could love. Martha will never be my favourite, but Sam was the star of this book, in my opinion. He is the only man for Martha and I loved their journey.
Closer, another novella, a quick read but with enough substance to make it feel like a full length book. Mae is the female lead, she has curves, sass and a sense of humour. Many of the best scenes feature dialogue between a Stage Dive original, Lena and Mae. Ziggy is a typical bodyguard; black suit, bad-arse, rarely a smile. I would have loved this book to be longer so we could have heard more from his POV.
Love Song follows Adam and Jill. Adam is the new rock and roll protege of the Stage Dive crew. Jill is his ex, the one who inspired all the not so complimentary heartbreak songs. Another fun, quick read.
In The Rhythm Method, we get to revist the first Stage Dive pair, Ev and David. Seven years married, the couple navigate life's twists and turns.
Just What I Needed, features nanny Jude and a regular Stage Dive secondary character Dean. I've like producer Dean from earlier books, and Jude, with her dislike for mornings, is a relatable lead. This one is a sweet, easy read.
This collection is a must-read for fans of the series.
If you’ve been here a minute, you know I adore Kylie Scott and her Stage Dive rockstar series. So I was thrilled when she announced that she’s compiled years worth of short stories and novellas that make up the extensive Stage Dive universe. These stories are all fantastic, and a wonderful way to spend more time in one of my all time favorite fictional worlds.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
There are some standout stories here. Strong follows Martha and security guru Sam, as Martha grapples with changes in her life as well as Sam’s longstanding feelings. Martha is the villain in more than one of the earlier books, which makes her redemption arc even sweeter.
If you haven’t read the original books, Closer is more of a standalone bodyguard romance. Love Song features an up and coming rocker and his ex that he wrote his hit album about. The Rhythm Method is about David and Evelyn’s new baby, and Just What I Needed is about their nanny Jude and music producer Dean, who’s introduced in Lead.
The band members and their love interests are fabulous in their supporting roles in all these stories. And, while Jimmy Ferris will always be one of my top book boyfriends, Mal Ericson is the absolute highlight. He’s hilarious, and each appearance makes every story that much more fun.
This Stage Dive compilation is like visiting with beloved friends. I adore this fictional world, and I jump at any chance to revisit it. If you are a rockstar romance fan, these stories are tons of fun, and I highly recommend reading any and all of the Stage Dive books.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
-COCKY & Mal & Anne +1 (3.8 stars) These are super fun shorts about our favorite drummer Mal and his girl Anne!
-STRONG (4 Stars) If you know the Stage Dive men then you had met their Security guard Sam Knowles. This is his short story of finding his own hea with none other than former drama girl Martha.
-The Rhythm Method (5 Stars) Go back to the beginning of the stage dive series with David and Evelyn. Married seven years, the couple and their band mates are all back in this sweet and silly novella. A little surprise always stirs the pot. I loved seeing everyone back and what they were up too! Mal as always is a hoot! Told in Evelyn’s POV
-Closer (4 Stars) When Mae Cooper ends up with a not so friendly package at her doorstep she finds she is in need of help. Enter the sexy Ziggy Thayer, the new Bodyguard for this plus size beauty. Can they keep it professional or will their chemistry lead to more than just protecting her life? This is a sweet & short romantic suspense novella from the stage dive world. Love the cameos thrown in too from our favorite rock band. Told in Mae’s POV
-Love Song (4 Stars) Jill Schwartz broke up with rockstar Adam Dillion for being a bad boyfriend but when she receives something in the mail, she decides to confront him. How will that go? This is a sweet novella in the stage dive world about misunderstandings and second chances. Loved the cameos! Part of the 1,001 dark nights series.
🎸 ⚜️ Book Title - Stage Dive: Short Stories & Novellas ⚜️ Author - Kylie Scott ⚜️ Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⚜️ Some Genre/Themes/Tropes: Adult Fiction, Romance and Rockstar
I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book via the author. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This is my honest review.
I had a good time reading these. It was genuinely nice to step back into the world and revisit some familiar characters. It’s some Rockstar romance fun.
That said, I’ll caveat this by saying I’m not usually the biggest fan of novellas. My memory is far too unreliable to read them as standalones without doing a fairly recent reread of the main series (which I did). Because of that, I think these work best as a companion read rather than something to pick up long after finishing the core books. Especially if you are like me and have a poor memory.
I would recommend this book to others who enjoyed the main series and novellas.
Note (How I rate): One is DNF. Two is got there but struggled. Three stars is a good, enjoyable read. Four is an excellent read and five is a comfort read that lingers with me for life. My five stars can be imperfect but to me they hit right.
I've read everything Kylie has written (except for the Flesh series, I do NOT do zombies). And it's so easy to fall back into her established worlds. Unfortunately, Mal is the only male lead we get a POV from. He's a fan favourite and seems to be Kylie's favourite. But he is a lot for me. I wonder if he is ever 'off' and what life must be like for Anne when they're just at home with no other adults around. And to be fair, he is a fun character. He gets the best one-liners and is in the thick of everything. But I would have loved to read The Rhythm Method with some of David's POV, and Love Song from Adam's perspective and what is going through Sam's mind when he pursues Martha. I love how the found family has expanded to include Mae and Ziggy, Jude & Dean and Adam and Jill. All I need now is for Bon to get a book, and maybe Adelaide. I wouldn't say no to a Stage Dive Christmas with the entire Stage Dive world and the Dive Bar crew. Maybe some updates on Jimmy and Lena or Ben and Lizzy in the form of novellas.
STAGE DIVE: Short Stories and Novellas by Kylie Scott is a collection of previously released ‘short stories and novellas’ found in the author’s STAGE DIVE series.
Told from several first person perspectives STAGE DIVE: Short Stories and Novellas focuses on the lives of the main characters as well as the secondary characters that screamed for their own stories.
We are up close and personal as the next generation of rockers are born: from Mal and Anne’s ‘perfect son’ to David and Ev’s surprise pregnancy and birth. The hiring of a nanny brings with it another round of match making, and when you fall in love with your own security guard, life is about to change for the better.
STAGE DIVE: Short Stories and novellas takes a look back at our favorite rock star band and their friends: some of their beginnings, their growth and their struggles but mostly a way to re-experience the frenetic frenzy of our pal Mal. The premise is fun and captivating; the romances are passionate ; the characters are familiar, determined and charismatic.
This collection of novella's is from the Stage Dive universe which is one of my all time favourite series!!! Having all of these short stories available in one collection for the first time is a real treat. If you haven't had the pleasure of reading this rock star series then this will give you a taste of this fabulous universe. Although each story is a novella, they are all beautifully written and filled with amazing characters, drama, laughter and tension that will have you glued to the pages. I loved revisiting the characters that I have loved from the previous books, Mal and Anne always make me laugh, as well as meeting some new ones. Hopefully more stories from this universe will come in the future because I will never get enough of these characters and what they get up too. Entertaining and enjoyable, I think this is a collection of novella's everyone will enjoy. I highly recommend this series....it's a must read!!!
Stage Dive – Short Stories and Novellas ⭐️ 4.5 | 🌶️ 2.5
I was so excited to jump back into this world! One of the first posts I ever made on Instagram was reviewing this series, and I absolutely devoured this addition. Mal is still my favourite he can make me laugh at the drop of a hat, but Jimmy has my heart, especially as the best dad 💜.
Some moments didn’t hit as strongly since not all characters are from the original series. I enjoyed Mae and Ziggy, mostly because of the action, and while Adam and Jill, as well as Dean and Jude, felt a bit rushed, their scenes with the Stage Dive family were still heartwarming.
Seeing the kids grow up was fantastic! I’d love a second-generation Stage Dive someday, imagine the antics and the group chat chaos with their parents.
If you haven’t read the Stage Dive series yet, I highly recommend it. You’ll understand why this universe is so beloved!
Happy reading, everyone! 📚💜

Brilliant! All seven previously published Stage Dive shorts are here in one book. I love how these shorts all slot together so perfectly with mostly secondary characters from the Stage Dive series who have their moment. We also get a spot of 'how things are going' for couples from other books in the series - like Mal and Anne (from 'Play') role playing - what a treat!
My favourite is the bodyguard romance between prickly ole Martha and steady Sam ('Strong'). Martha has history as she used to date band member David and it was all a bit messy, back in the day. Sam has a big job with security so it's quite the challenge for them to get together. I also love Adam finding his way back to Jill ('Love Song').
Obviously these are best read after the Stage Dive novels, but they do stand alone really well. Kylie knows how to give a taste of backstory without getting bogged down in the detail.
– Such a good time as these are all low-angst short stories and feel-good steamy snippets. Thank you Kylie Scott for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
One of my favorite things in a book, is an Epilogue. The only thing that can top that is a short story that give me either a refresh or a glimpse into the lives of fictional characters I loved spending time with. So, a collection of short stories and Novellas from the Stage Dive world...yes please!! If you're a fan of the series, or maybe new to reading Kylie Scott, this is a must read. It gives us just enough of the characters to refresh our need to know how they are and what is going on in their fictional world.
If you’ve read the Stage Dive series then you know how any nugget of new writings is crave worthy. Maybe most people read these stories before. They’re out there…. But not in one place. BONUS is the unicorn cover of the OG, limited edition, first print, costs lots of money if you can even find one, win one etc etc etc of David Ferris graces the cover.
Stage Dive is one of the best rockstar romance series I have ever read and I have read lots of them. Going back to this universe with a mix of shorts about the group and novellas about side characters is a real pleasure. I think it's best to read the Stage Dive series first maybe because I can't imagine anyone not loving that series. And for those who already know how awesome Mal is, don't worry, he and Anne don't disappoint.
The Stage Dive series is by far my favorite of Kylie Scott's writing and probably one of my favorite rockstar book series as well. And my favorite character is Mal, so it was really nice to revisit Mal and Ann again as well as the other characters. This book combines all of the smaller, side-stories from the series and I couldn't put it down. I never want to leave the Stage Dive crew. 10/10 recommend!!!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by author)...
It has been so long since I’ve been in the Stage Dive World and I have missed these characters so much; I am even a huge fan of the movie I hope we get more. These collections of novellas were such a nice way to re-visit one of my favorite series, especially Mal and Anne. That is to say these aren’t new stories, but they are extras that are now in one place which I greatly appreciate.
I love this book! It was so good to catch up with all the band and add a few new members to the family. David and Evelyn are close to my heart, and it was really good to hear from them again. Each story was short an sweet, but complete. This was great! Keep it going, Kylie. Thanks to Bookfunnel for the ARC. This is my voluntary and honest review.
