I blackmailed an assassin.

Discovering Barrett by accident gave me the solution I needed to save my sister. And I’d do it again, no matter the cost.

Now I owe him a debt he’s more than happy to collect. His next target is a beloved public figure—but the world doesn’t know how dangerous the man really is.

But when his target turns his possessive interest on me, Barrett tightens his control.

He was her last resort and her most dangerous temptation.

Sage walks into danger because her sister is trapped in a life no one else will stop, and the only man ruthless enough to fix it is the one she should fear most. Barrett is watchful, controlled, and dangerous, yet once Sage forces her way into his world, he stops seeing her as a problem and starts seeing her as his.

What begins as blackmail turns into a debt neither of them can keep clean. As Barrett pulls Sage deeper into his orbit, desire twists into control, and control turns into something more intimate than either of them planned. She resists him even while craving the safety of his dominance, and he calls it obsession long before he admits he can’t lose her. ‍

As the pressure around them tightens, every line between protection, possession, and love starts to blur. What follows is a dark spiral of surrender, trust, fear, and need, where survival means facing what they are to each other.

Sage starts as a woman driven by desperation and loyalty, then slowly allows herself to want and to yield without seeing vulnerability as weakness. Barrett shifts from a cold assassin treating her like a complication into a man undone by protectiveness, fixation, and the need to care for her as deeply as he commands her. Together, they move from coercion and bargaining into a volatile bond built on power, trust, surrender, and intimacy that keeps testing the line between autonomy and belonging.

A dark, ultra-steamy romantic suspense where desperation turns into dangerous devotion, it's about what happens when a morally gray protector and a woman at the end of her rope blur the line between coercion and care. As power, trust, violence, and surrender twist tighter between them, it asks what love becomes when safety and possession come from the same hands.

The Elevator Pitch: Desperate to save her sister, a guarded woman blackmails an assassin and expects blood, not intimacy. Instead, she’s pulled into the orbit of a man who is as controlled as he is dangerous, where desire becomes leverage and surrender starts to feel a lot like refuge. But as the threat around them sharpens, what began as a ruthless bargain turns into a volatile bond that neither of them can survive unchanged by.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

Sage will do anything she has to do to save her sister. Even if that means putting her own life on the line by blackmailing an assassin. And that's exactly what she does. She walks right into Barrett's club and blackmails him into a job, but after Barrett completes the job, he flips the tables forces her to work for him. She's in the perfect position to help him takeout a high-profile target.
Drama, danger, lots of heavy petting:) this book had it all. Sage was bold and brave and completely vulnerable for Barrette. Barrette was dangerous, sexy, dominating, in the best way possible, and oh so sweet for Sage. I loved these two and the way Barrett called Sage his pet, his fox, his warrior. I just loved this book and hope both Fain and Rafe get their own books as well!
