Every obstacle they face pulls them closer together, and the tension oh, the tension builds until it’s downright intoxicating. The steam rolls in fast and fierce, but it’s never empty; every heated moment deepens their bond and raises the stakes.
What truly surprised me is how much more this story is than a spicy fantasy romance. Irena’s journey is one of discovery, loss, growth, and awakening both magical and emotional. Along the way, secrets are revealed that she desperately wishes she’d known sooner. Valen, fiercely protective and unapologetically possessive, claims her as his, but also becomes her shield as they seek the Sorceress who can unlock Irena’s magic and her destiny. Love is found, a powerful mate bond is formed, and a certain cruel individual emerges as Valen’s greatest fear of all.
This book kept throwing one problem after another at the characters, and I loved every second of it. Heartache, lust, danger, devotion it’s all here, woven into a story that pulled me in when I least expected it.

Mistress of the Red Dragon is the second book in the Mated by Flame series by Evangeline Anderson, and after reading both Bride of the Black Dragon and Mistress of the Red Dragon, I can confidently say this series is spectacular.
These books deliver everything you want in a dark fantasy dragon shifter romance: nonstop suspense, action, danger, twists and turns, and scorching-hot dragon shifters—alongside a beautifully crafted love story that truly pulls at the heart.
Valen is a feared dragon shifter, a prisoner, and a mortal enemy of the crown. Irena is an innocent, curvy princess desperate to save her dying mother, the Queen. Though sworn enemies, they are forced to rely on one another and enter into a dangerous pact—Valen seeking freedom, and Irena seeking a way to save her mother.
Watching Valen and Irena’s relationship unfold is a joy. Despite reminding themselves that they are enemies, their growing connection is tender, emotional, and often heartwarming as they learn to trust and care for one another. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the question of whether they can surrender to their desires while overcoming betrayal and fear keeps the tension high throughout the story.

She discovers many things in her travels to help save her mother, the Queen.
She experiences lust, love and fear.
Valen is a dragon whose Drake is, as we all know a part of him. He helps protect the Princess and get them through the forest they must travel in order to meet the Sorceress who can help Irena understand, grow and use her magic. She needs to know just what she can do with it and how to make it work for her.
We get a lot of smexy times in this book. Valen does love her scent amongst other things.
We also learn some things that Irena wishes she knew sooner.
Her losses are great but along the way love is found, a mate bond is formed, and a certain nasty person becomes his greatest fear.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
As usual I will not give away any more than this.
I leave the discoveries to the reader.

Evangeline Anderson has introduced a new series in her universe, Mated by Flame. Book 1 was Bride of the Black Dragon, and Book 2 is Mistress of the Red Dragon. I really enjoyed Book 1, but Book 2 blew me away. Take one super hot male, Valen, and one innocent curvy female, Irena, and make them mortal enemies forced to be together and the steam just rolled off the pages! Although Valen hates all of Irena’s people, as he begins to understand her, he becomes possessive of her and his dragon calls her Mine. Irena is the Princess of her people but hates how females are treated. Her mother the Queen is dying, just as her father did two years earlier. Her brother has begun to rule, along with his trusted Healer. She decides to undertake a quest to retrieve a potion from a Sorceress, causing her to release Valen and strike a bargain with him to fly her there. This novel, however, is much more than a spicy romp. The plot consisting of one problem into another kept me reading page after page. This new series has become my favorite! I can’t wait for Book 3.

This story was thrilling from start to finish. Packed with adventure, danger, and sizzling tension, the plot keeps you turning pages just to see what will happen next. I loved how Evangeline Anderson introduced each character so clearly and showed exactly what they had to fight for to earn their happily ever after.
The balance in this book was perfect,strong world-building, meaningful obstacles, emotional depth, and yes… deliciously spicy scenes that added heat without overpowering the story. What really stood out to me was the emotional connection. Being able to truly feel the characters’ struggles, growth, and journey toward one another made this such a satisfying read.
Overall, this was a beautifully written romantasy with heart, heat, and high stakes. I loved how the author brought every character to life and showed how they ultimately found their way to each other. I honestly couldn’t have asked for more.

Good but…
It was a good read. The sexy times are fire, I just wish there was more substance to the heroine. God she was a ditz. The story was unique, and fun though. It was one part fairytale, one part fantasy, one part legend and one part romance. A refreshing take on the dragon shifter trope.

Wow wow, this was just the pick me up I needed. I absolutely loved Valen and Irena's story. An enemy to lovers story. I would highly recommend this as a read if you enjoy this type of story. Definitely 5 star writing 😍

This book was so exciting and riveting. As always the author keeps you on the edge of your seat and dying to find out what is going to happen next. A princess and a dragon what a combination!
