Build a holistic, health-minded kitchen with over 100 nourishing recipes for healthy meals and natural remedies, from Rebekah "Ebby" Moyer
On her popular social media channels, Rebekah Moyer makes simple, nourishing meals with accessible, whole-food ingredients. Not only are her recipes delicious, but they are also incredibly nutrient dense—in a single video, she’ll make kefir for gut-healthy probiotics, quick-pickled carrots as a fiber source for estrogen detox, kabocha squash for thyroid-friendly vitamin A, and more.
Simple Kitchen Magic is Rebekah’s delicious recipes and warm, comforting nutritional advice in book form. The simple, whole-food recipes—like Curried Turkey Meatball Soup, Harissa Roasted Eggplant, and Black Bean Brownies—highlight functional ingredients to help you embrace food as medicine for a healthy lifestyle.
Simple Kitchen Magic will leave you feeling like health is attainable, nutrition is simple, and cooking from scratch is doable. With whimsical, illustrated spreads on topics like adrenal health and menstrual cycle syncing, recipes for healing tinctures and basic kitchen remedies, this is the essential first book for any wannabe homesteader, ancestral eater, or cottagecore dreamer.
Simple Kitchen Magic: Whole-Food Recipes and Remedies for a Holistic Life by Rebekah Moyer is a warm, practical, and inspiring cookbook that goes beyond recipes to encourage a more mindful and nourishing approach to everyday living. Blending wholesome food, simple wellness practices, and a love for natural ingredients, the book offers a refreshing perspective on creating health and balance in the kitchen.
One of the book's greatest strengths is its accessibility. The recipes are approachable and made with ingredients that are generally easy to find, making it simple for readers to incorporate more whole foods into their daily routines. Moyer presents her ideas in a way that feels encouraging rather than overwhelming, making healthy living feel achievable.
I especially enjoyed the combination of recipes and natural remedies. The holistic approach adds depth to the book and helps readers see food as an important part of overall well-being. The author's passion for nutrition, wellness, and intentional living shines through on every page, creating a reading experience that is both educational and motivating.
The reason this earns four stars rather than five is that some readers may wish for more advanced recipes or deeper explanations of certain wellness concepts. While the book offers plenty of practical guidance, a few sections felt somewhat introductory. However, this also makes it highly accessible to those who are just beginning their journey toward healthier living.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was not exactly what I thought it was when I requested a copy, but I enjoyed it all the same. I didn't realize that I actually follow the author until I saw the photos because I always thought of her as "Ebby Moyer" like her Instagram handle. Somehow I missed that she now has a book! I'm glad I stumbled across it on Netgalley because it's full of useful information. Recently I've been interested in food as medicine, but I always struggled finding resources because so much content is full of diet culture shame and fearmongering about certain food groups. This book is just like Rebekah's videos – fact-based nutrition advice that is all about actually fueling your body without guilt. I can't wait to try some of these recipes; the photos are absolutely gorgeous! There is even advice on what foods to eat during the phases of your menstrual cycle. I'll definitely be purchasing a physical copy of this book at some point.
Simple Cooking Magic is a visually stunning cookbook that balances a heartwarming, family-oriented atmosphere with a mix of great recipes. The beautiful photography and the inclusion of the author's children give the book a lovely, personal touch. She also says she's been working her whole life towards this book. It features several standout dishes, including the fluffy banana pancakes, chorizo sweet potato hash, egg bites, Sunday roast chicken, and an excellent guide to sourdough. The author also weaves in a holistic philosophy, foods like peppermint can help with fever, of course you should still use reducers like Tylenol. certain foods can help with ailments and inflammation. Ultimately, the book shines in aesthetics and select dishes, it's a good cookbook, but since I'd only ever cook a handful of these recipes, I wouldn't buy it myself.
Did I wake up at 3am to pee and see I had an email of my preorder? Yup. Did I then lay in bed and read this whole book in approximately 2.5 hours cover to cover? Absolutely. I felt like I was in a classroom, but also like I was sitting at the kitchen table with my best friend. This book is so much more than a cool book, it’s a warm hug and a helping hand when you’re in the trenches of worry when it comes to eating healthy and enjoying your food. I knew this would be a 10/10 read because it’s Ebby, but wow… the hard work does not go unnoticed here. Excellent book, wonderful recipes. So grateful to own my own copy. I may need to purchase a hard copy to accumulate the stains mentioned in the last few pages 🤣💖
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Rebekah Moyer for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
This cookbook was more than just a cookbook. It is a comprehensive guide for cooking intentionally to heal. The cycle based focused was incredibly helpful and well put together. This focus was what caught my eye and had me hooked throughout to learn more. The recipes and guides throughout are purposefully laid out for best implementation into reader’s lives. The images of the plated food and ingredients are delectable and I want to try every dish! The life style images are beautiful and capture the author and her family well! I need a physical copy asap!
Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy of Simple Kitchen Magic!
I have followed Rebekah Moyer for years on social media and love her account, so have been so excited to see her cookbook in the flesh. The book is stunning and clearly put together with so much love. It is also one of those cookbooks that I know I will never actually use in real life to cook for myself or my family. However, there are pages, like feeding yourself during different phases of your menstrual cycle that intrigue me and I may jot down to reference to.
This is one of those pretty cookbooks that you want to keep on your self. The photos are so beautiful. You can tell that the author/cook put a lot of time and energy into thoughtfully approaching each page and recipe that she is offering, there is truly something for everyone. However, it is one of those cookbooks that I would love to keep on my shelf because its pretty, not because I would reach for it and cook out of it often. That doesnt lessen my recommendation for others to pick it up and try it for themselves though. It stands strong as a kitchen witch resource.
Pure Magic. This book makes me want to slow down and nourish my family through these recipes. I cook a lot and I own a lot of cookbooks. It’s only natural I find a lot of them overlap. This book has similar recipes but not the same which was very exciting. You can tell that every single one of these recipes would be nourishing and healing on a soul level. Not a single one of my books gives me that feeling yet this one did for every recipe. You can tell a lot of thought and love went into this. The ingredients are all easily found or easily substituted. I want to try everything in this book.
Wow! This cookbook was way more than just a cookbook. it really was magic. It breaks down so many things into simple terms for you to understand. And teaches you things such as Cycle Phase Foods, Food Prep, Fermented foods, Pantry Essentials and so much more. As someone who collects cookbooks, this is defiantly one to add. Plus it has gorgeous images with just the right asthetic.

Many thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read this one...
A good reminder to eat whole foods and not to ignore how all of our body's systems are impacted by what we eat. References are included and the recipes look delicious.
Thank you to DK and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy. All opinions are my own.
This is a beautiful cookbook geared towards women in their child-bearing years looking to support their bodies through food and nutrition. I loved the aesthetics and the photography is beautiful. I found a lot of the information helpful, especially the section on eating for the different phases of your cycle. I also really appreciated the author's body positive tone.
The recipes are all accessible and look delicious. I'm especially excited to try the chocolate-cherry overnight baked oatmeal, chorizo sweet potato hash, butternut sage risotto, and gluten free oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
I struggled a bit with how text-dense some of the pages are. It's great information, but the text is small and it would have been easier to read if it were larger and broken up by some additional photos or illustrations. I struggled to get through all of it and ended up coming back later to read the sections one at a time.
Overall, this is a great cookbook for pre-menopausal women if you're looking to improve your hormone health through diet and lifestyle.
