വളരെ രസകരമായി (പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് തൃശൂർ ഭാഷയിൽ തുടക്കം) എഴുതിയ ഒരു പുസ്തകം.
തുടക്കത്തിൽ വളരെ മനോഹരമായി തൃശ്ശൂർ നാടൻ വിശേഷങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞത് നല്ലപോലെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു..
പിന്നീട് കഥയിലേക്ക് വന്നാൽ വളരെ സന്തോഷകരമായി ഹാപ്പി ആയി ജീവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ഒരു കുടുംബത്തിൽ ജീവിത സാഹചര്യങ്ങളെ തുടർന്ന് കഥാ നായിക ബാംഗ്ലൂർ ജോലിക്ക് പോയതും അതിന് ശേഷം അവിടെ തന്നെ വെച്ച് പരിചയപ്പെട്ട എല്ലാം തികഞ്ഞത് എന്ന് തോന്നിപ്പിച്ച ഒരു മഹാനെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം എത്തിപ്പെട്ട toxic enviornmentൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്ത് കിടക്കുന്ന നായികയുടെ കഥ.

എഴുത്തിലെ ലാളിത്യം കൊണ്ട് വായന മികച്ചതാക്കാൻ സാധിച്ചു എന്ന് എനിക്ക് തോന്നി ..

I remember when Mary Chechi (I hope I can call her that) posted a tweet on Twitter saying she was going to write a Malayalam book, and she was kind of optimistic about it. I remember her sharing the experience as a book, which she enjoyed writing, and more than enjoyment, she cried a lot while writing it down. Manavatty is not a story that came out of nowhere. It's not a fictional book like Harry Potter. As you read this book, I hope you recognize that this story is rooted in real-life incidents, brought to life through the creative imagination of the author, my dear Mary Chechi. If I am not wrong, she took almost a year to complete the book. On May 25th, 2025, when she typed down "the end" to the story, since that day, I have been eagerly waiting to get my hands on it and read this book. Turns out it was worth the wait.
She narrated a warm and cozy story, but at the same time fearlessly showcased a taboo subject in society, Divorce. We know that most of the people who go through divorce will be in a very devastated condition. But Manavatty is a reality check of how dreadful that condition could be. There are very good satirical elements that give you a giggle while reading it, but as a reader, the valuable lesson that the book taught me was not to be the reason behind another person going through the atrocity of heartbreak. When a woman, especially in Kerala Christian culture, leaves everything behind after a marriage and starts a fresh life as a stranger in a new home, she deserves grace and care, forever.
For me, Manavatty was a huge life lesson that I will hold on to forever, especially as I am sprinting towards the age where I slowly prepare my journey towards the wedding altar.
Manavatty was also simple in language, which is one of the most powerful elements of the book as well. I used to read a lot of books, but after life hit me hard, I was too lethargic after 8-hour workdays to read any book. Manavatty was a perfect book to bring me back the joy and curiosity of reading. For a debut Malayalam book, I can proudly say Mary Chechi did a great job, and I wish her all the best in her future writings. May your pen never run dry and your imagination always stay vibrant as it is today.

മണവാട്ടി കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഈ വർഷത്തിലേക്ക് എന്നെ എത്തിച്ച പുസ്തകമാണ്. ഞാൻ ഏറ്റവും കുറവ് വായിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള genre ആണ് ആക്ഷേപഹാസ്യം.എന്തുകൊണ്ടോ എനിക്കെപ്പോഴും തോന്നിയിട്ടുള്ളത് അത് ആരെയൊക്കെയോ മുറിപ്പെടുത്തുമെന്നാണ്. പക്ഷെ മുറിപ്പെടുന്നത് പുരുഷാധിപത്യമാണെങ്കിൽ ഇനിയും ഒരുപാട് വായിക്കാമെന്ന തീരുമാനത്തിലെത്തിച്ചത് മണവാട്ടി ആണ്. സരസമായ എഴുത്തിന്റെ ശൈലിയും, ജീവിതത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ചീന്തിയെടുത്തതെന്നു ആർക്കും തോന്നി പോകുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളും മണവാട്ടിയെ വ്യത്യസ്തമാക്കുന്നു. ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ മാത്രമല്ല മലയാളത്തിലും തനിക്കു പ്രാവീണ്യമുണ്ടെന്നു മറിയ ഇതിനോടകം തെളിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഒരുപാടിഷ്ടമായി... ആശംസകളും... സ്നേഹവും..

ജീവിത സാഹചര്യങ്ങളേയും സംഭവങ്ങളേയും ഒരു ആക്ഷേപ ഹാസ്യത്തിൻ്റെ മേമ്പൊടിയോടെ കാണാൻ പറ്റുന്നത് ഒരു അപൂർവ്വ കഴിവാണ്. അതിനെ ഒട്ടും പൊലിമ പോരാതെയും കയ്യടക്കത്തോടെയും പകർത്തുക മറ്റൊരു കഴിവാണ്.

ആക്ഷേപഹാസ്യം കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ പാളിപ്പോകാൻ സാദ്ധ്യതകൾ ഏറെയുണ്ട്. ഇതുവരെ വായിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഹാസ്യ കൃതികൾ മിക്കതും കുറച്ച് അതിശയോക്തി കലർനിട്ടുള്ളത് ആയിരുന്നു. വ്യത്യാസമായി കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളത് മഹേഷിൻ്റെയും (പണ്ട് പണ്ട് ഒരിടത്ത് ) കൊടകര പുരാണവും ആണ്. അങ്ങിനെ നോക്കുമ്പോൾ, അതിഭാവുകത്തമില്ലാതെ ഹാസ്യം പകർത്തുന്നതിൽ മണവാട്ടി വിജയിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ജീവിതത്തിലെ സങ്കടങ്ങൾ വായനക്കാർക്ക് എത്തിക്കാനും കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്.
