A paramedic mmc??😽

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Release date: already out now!

First off, thank you so much Leigh Sharp for giving me a chance to be an ARC copy reader of this!! I really enjoyed Everly and Trevor’s story line, they were truly always meant to be together. It took me awhile to finish this book, so that might’ve affected my rating. I really wish it had been more detailed and longer as well. As much as I love quick stories, this felt very rushed. But if you’re looking for a quick story that includes a paramedic mmc, and an oldest daughter trying to find herself.. this is for you! :)

I loved the emotional reconnection that Everly and Trevor had in this second chance romance and I was glad they got to work through their misunderstandings and be there for each other now. Once they were able to clear the air their relationship really found its footing and began to bloom again. The story moved back and forth between the present and the past and I applaud the author for that not being a distraction.

Omg I could not put this book down and could have finished in one sitting if it wasn’t for adulting! I loved the connection and love between Everly and Trevor. The perfect second chance romance as they navigate the time spent apart and loving as teenager and then adults. Trevor is the ultimate husband goals! The way he always had eyes for her and just the love her has for his girl had me totally swooning and just trying to to enjoy the ride when you know two people are so meant to be. These characters were so relatable and once again I will read anything Leigh writes! A second book and a second 5 star read!

I feel touched and satisfied by Everly and Trevor’s small town second chance romance in this quick 2 hour read.

I liked Trevor’s character, could really picture him and the kind, thoughtful, and dutiful person he is to his parents and everyone around him. Took me time to warm up to Everly but I’m glad she grows in this story and unpacks her issues to allow love into her life.

Ultimately the story comes together in a tidy package, no plot holes. Satisfying read!

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy!

I could not put this book down! Trevor and Everlys story about a second chance at love kept me hooked on wanting to know what would happen next. I really enjoyed that it went to their past and then present to have a better understanding of their story and that Trevor is in the medical field I really liked because I personally work in the medical field as an office rep but going back to work registration in and ER.

I was hooked from the first chapter. Everly and Trevor’s story was beautiful. I loved the small town vibes, friendships, and how well their characters developed throughout the story. I definitely recommend reading!

This was a pretty good story. I loved Everly and Trevor. A second chance romance. But a story this deep honestly needs more pages than what it got. It was an injustice to a story that should’ve had depth and a true detailed storyline. Add another hundred pages at least, and this would be amazing.

In a Heartbeat is a lovely fast read with a little drama and bit of spicy thrown in. V reminds us to not let ourselves be stuck in a box but to go out and chase our dreams regardless of how it ends up while Trevor is every woman’s super hero! Highly recommend a read if you enjoy going on an emotional ride with great character development.

Thank you to author Leigh Sharp for the arc! I love second chance romances and Trevor and Everly’s love story is complicated but very beautiful. The beginning chapters where they reconnect really pulled me in and the flashbacks really helped to explain what happened to their relationship before they came back together. There are some sensitive issues touched upon so make sure to check the trigger warnings. I definitely could sympathize with Everly’s trauma response to something that happened to her and how it affected her life and their relationship. The last chapters and epilogue that covered their HEA were so lovely and perfect. I look forward to reading what Leigh writes next!

I reviewed an eARC copy of this book from the author.

I loved how much potential was within this story. The complex relationship dynamics with the man characters and everyone important to this story really drew me in. However, it was lacking the depth I was seeking from the storyline because it was short in length and it felt like it needed another 100+ pages to make it really feel complete. I devoured this book because I enjoyed what I did get, I just want more from Trevor and Everly!

In a Heartbeat by Leigh Sharp

This was a new author for me, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going into this book, but I was definitely excited to dive into something new. Oh boy, Everly is one stubborn woman! She honestly reminded me of someone… and then it hit me — she reminded me of myself in the stubbornness department. Although, if I’m being honest, she probably has me beat by a lot.

I really enjoyed both Everly and Trevor as characters, and I liked the chemistry between them. My biggest issue was that just when I felt like I was really getting into the groove of the story, it suddenly ended. It almost felt like I blinked and missed a few chapters somewhere along the way. I found myself wanting a little more depth and development before reaching the ending.

That being said, I still really liked the concept of the storyline and enjoyed the overall reading experience. I would definitely recommend this book, especially if you enjoy romance with strong-willed characters. I’d also love to read more from Leigh Sharp in the future — hopefully with a few more meaty pages because I definitely wanted more.

It's a fast pace short, cozy small-town second chance romance packed with history, old wounds, jealousy, rumors, and plenty of drama surrounding Everly, Trevor, and their best friend Mallory. The dual timeline, moving between past and present does a great job of showing what led to the breakup and how everything unraveled.

While I appreciated the emotional depth and the eventual happy ending and the reconciliation between Everly and her best friend, I struggled to connect with the characters. Everly was especially hard to like, which made it difficult to fully invest in the romance. Mallory also didn’t win me over (for spoilery reasons), though both characters showed slight redemption by the end.

Trevor, however, was the standout for me. Hi's sweet, loyal, and grounded in his values and family. Honestly, he deserved so much better.

I also found the amount of swearing a bit excessive for my personal taste.

Overall, if you enjoy high school drama, messy breakups, emotional second chances, love triangle and small-town charm, this might be for you.

Thank you to the author for the eARC, this is my honest review.

That was a suuuuper quick read!

I’ve got some feelings.
The triangle between Mal, Everly and Trevor makes me want to punch air in a bad way. The fact that Mal swooped in after the fact made me hate her. I don’t care if 40 years pass, my ex is off limits unless by some miracle of God I feel absolutely nothing about it and give my blessing. Mal’s a dirty dog in my book. She’s also what I like to call a pendeja because there is 0 chance I’d let my boyfriend sign up to play nurse to his ex. It’s like she wants him to dead her.

And Mom gets a thumbs down. My mom used to do that and it made my skin crawl. You don’t go against the family. If my boyfriend and I break up, he broke up with all of us. He’s dead to us. At most, a cordial acquaintanceship is forgivable but weekly dinners is treasonous behavior.

The Mal/Trevor ending/closure made me facepalm. I can’t see it ever ever being that easy.

I dislike teenage Everly. She’s a whiny brat. But I thank God she was wrong about Landon because that made me feel really icky.

All in all, it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t for me. I prefer a bit more spice, a bit more plot/character development and felt like there was too much time given to the past and not enough on the present.

I love me a quick read, and this book did not disappoint. Everly and Trevor have history and you can feel their raw emotions in this book. The past and present tension, you can cut it with a knife. This was such a great quick second chance romance read. And you should definitely add this to your TBR.

I recieved a readers advanced copy from the author. All opinions are my own. Small town cute romance way too quick of a story to be able to fully enjoy it. This book was my first read by this author as well.

Based in Roseport. Everly and Trevor were high school sweethearts but she ended up moving away. There was to much high school drama for me to able to fully enjoy it like who cares about the rumor that got started it made no sense for it to be in this book.

The death in this book caused me to cry but I was expecting more emotions and a better writing format. I enjoyed how Trevor was able to be with Mallory and Everly but a triangle romance story is to complicated to have in a 200 page book. There were holes in this story and the spice was meh not wanting me to read more. I wish there was more tension between Everly and Trevor when they reconnected. I also feel like ALS should have been talked about more throughout the book instead of being in one short paragraph. Also I hated how quickly things ended so quickly there was no need for the way it ended.

I absolutely adored this book and inhaled it while sitting at the pool on vacation in the Dominican Republic. I wanted more. Trevor was Everly’s first love and even though she was the one that ended the relationship she never got over him. He was her soulmate. She moves back home after being gone for a few years and runs into Trevor. This was definitely an emotional read but the HEA at the end was really cute.

Thank you Leigh Sharp for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

Thank you for the eARC!

I was super excited to read this book because it had an element of healthcare AND romance! While this was true, I felt that many of the events were quite corny and I’ve read quite a few novels with the “boy best friend / love triangle” trope and this one was just in the corny area. It was also a short book so the plot seemed rushed and I feel like it would have been a better book if there was 100+ more pages. It was a cute read though, and it was nice to read before and after work since it didn’t take a lot of effort.

🩺🩺🩺🩺 and 🌶️ : keep in mind the star review is based off of MY interests!

Very quick read, one sitting for me! Fast paced. Written in a dual timeline ⏰. The writing style for this book to me was leaning toward the new adult/young adult readers. I did feel the book was short, but it’s PERFECT if you want something quick with a full storyline.

Everly, Trevor and Mallory are best friends. Trevor falls for Everly after her and Mallory make a pact that neither of them will date Trevor. This causes some tension and all the friendships are changed. Everly moves away and after some time comes back home. All their worlds come crashing back together in this quic contemporary romance.

Leigh explorers the ideas of mental health 🏥, struggles of high school relationships📚, and emotions. Her descriptions of the struggles with work life balance for a paramedic 🚑 (really any shift work) is spot on. I also think that the dynamics of the high school era was described very well. I don’t have kids myself, but from what I know what Leigh wrote is how some kids are treated in high school.

My least favorite character was Mallory for reasons that are obvious once you start reading. She did redeem herself slightly but I’m still a little skeptical!

I loved Trevor. He’s just the sweetest and true to himself and his family. Certainly think he didn’t deserve everything he got from Everly but.. that’s kids right?

I will continue to read Leigh Sharp books and can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!

You should read this if you enjoy: second chance romance, love triangle, friends to lovers, new or young adult.

⚠️: car accident.

Everly and Trevor share a complicated history, but life ultimately took them down different paths. When a car accident unexpectedly brings them back together after years apart, they’re forced to confront the question: can you ever truly move on from your first love?

The premise immediately grabbed my attention, and I couldn’t wait to dive into this story. There’s something so compelling about second chance romances mixed with unresolved feelings and the emotional weight of returning home.

This was a sweet and emotional read, and I did enjoy the story overall. However, I found myself wishing it had gone deeper. Because the book is fairly short, some of the heavier topics and emotional conflicts felt a bit underdeveloped, and I wanted more time spent really exploring Everly and Trevor’s relationship, history, and growth.
Even though it left me wanting more emotionally, I still appreciated the heart behind the story and the nostalgia filled small town atmosphere.

Thank you, Leigh Sharp, for providing this Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️ARC READ⭐️

I went into this book with high expectations, but it ultimately didn’t land for me the way I’d hoped.
While the concept was intriguing, the execution felt uneven. At times, the pacing felt rushed, making it difficult to feel like I was keeping up with the story or if I was missing details, and certain plot points didn’t feel as developed or impactful as they could have been. The characters, while interesting in theory, were hard to connect with on a deeper level, which made it challenging to stay emotionally invested in their journey.
That said, the book isn’t without its strengths. There are moments where the writing shines, and it’s clear Leigh Sharp had a strong vision. Some readers may still find value in it, even if it didn’t fully resonate with me personally.
Overall, this was a mixed read….one that had potential but didn’t quite come together in a satisfying way for my taste.

Received an ARC of this novel

I only didn't DNF after reading the first 20% because I had a little over an hour to kill and I knew I could finish it. The FMC is extremely unlikeable; childish, selfish, mean, self absorbed...

This book was rushed. It felt like there were 15 different things the author wanted in this story regardless if they added to the plot and there was no one helping with edits to encourage her to remove some and take the time to add more substance. There was such little effort put in to create a narrative that allowed these series of facts/events to fit into each other. With that, there are also a number of continuity issues, one of the most glaring is the FMC's car accident injuries.

I truly wish she put more time into this novel, it really feels like a barely fleshed out outline. The pitch that got me to sign up for this ARC was not found in the pages that were delivered.

📕ARC READ!!📕

I’m a HUGE fan of second chance romances, and this book had a lot of potential, but fell short in a few ways.
I honestly think that the concept was great, but it felt really rushed and that equated to me not being able to connect with Everly & Trevor.

The pacing wasn’t great. There were also major plot pieces that were glossed over, which made it anticlimactic. Trevor was an amazing guy throughout, and with Everly being more on snarky side, I think there could’ve been more banter. It was definitely lacking the angst and yearning I feel is needed for a good second chance romance. It was real surface level for me.

There were some memorable spots for me. A lot of them were Trevor moments ❤️ he does have the makings of an amazing book boyfriend! I feel if some of the elements could be expanded on, this would’ve been a really good read.

In A Heartbeat is an emotional second chance romance. 🥺
V comes back home after things don’t work out in California and literally gets into a car accident her first night back because she is hardheaded and inpatient, only for the EMT to be Trevor, her ex and first love! 😮😳
There is a lot of history, old wounds, jealousy, rumors, and drama tied to her,Trevor and their best friend Mallory. I was so mad at Mallory for half this book. 😡
The way the story goes back and forth in time slowly piecing everything together really hits at the right moment.
At first I kept wondering how all the little pieces connected but when it finally clicks at the end! Omg it ALL comes together perfectly.
This book shows you that things aren’t always what they seem to me and love always finds a way, no matter how long it’s been. 🩷
4 ⭐️ for me.

Because sometimes the messiest break ups lead to the most touching happily ever afters.

I had such high hopes for this one. The premise is cute and who am I to say no to a small town romance! There are portions of exceptional writing and those quotes will absolutely live in my brain rent free! Unfortunately I just couldn’t connect with the main characters. Pacing was a bit of a struggle for me as well, everything felt rushed and I felt like I had accidentally skipped a chapter or two. I can totally see this being someone’s cup of tea unfortunately this just was not mine.

If you enjoy a little high school drama, messy breakups, emotional second chances, and small town charm consider this for your TBR 🤍

✨ARC Review: In a Heartbeat by Leigh Sharp✨

This was a short, cozy small-town second chance romance that packed a surprising amount of emotional depth into a quick read.

While there was a lot to unpack in such a limited page count, I found myself genuinely enjoying the story and the characters’ journey back to one another.

The tension between past and present kept things engaging, and the emotional weight of their shared history added a layer of complexity that made this more than just a light romance.

Overall, it was an easy, satisfying read. Perfect for when you’re craving something heartfelt without the heavy time commitment.

Also, it comes with a playlist and you guys know how much of a sucker I am for a good book playlist!

In a Heartbeat by Leigh Sharp was such a good small town second chance romance for me.

This was also my first book by this author, and I honestly really enjoyed the writing style. The story kept me fully engaged the entire time, which made it such an easy read to get lost in.

Everly and Trevor’s history added a lot of emotion to the story, and I liked seeing them forced to confront everything left unresolved between them after years apart. I also appreciated that while this was a fast read, it never felt rushed. The pacing worked really well for the story and allowed the emotional moments to still land naturally.

Overall, this was an emotional and engaging second chance romance that I genuinely enjoyed reading.

I loved this second chance at love, quick read! I read it all in one day, but don't let it fool you...it is full of emotion and conflict and the story of lost first loves that get a second chance...Will they take it? This one had me invested as if the FMC and MMC were my own friends, brought a frw tears to my eyes as I was emotionally attached. I loved the dual timelines as we explored their lives and relationship past and present. It made the ending that much sweeter. This was a great change of scenery and I appreciate Leigh for letting me read it.

This book honestly had me hooked by chapter 2!
I LOVED the drama that was already in the story right from the beginning. Honestly this book was good, and I loved Trevor and Everly’s story. However, I just wanted a little more from this book. This book is only 187 pages long so you really didn’t get much history on the characters. You got enough for the story to make sense but I just felt that it lacked a little depth!
It was a quick easy read that I enjoyed!

Thank you to the author that provided me with an advanced readers copy of this book!
