⭐️I was given this early copy in exchange for a review. This review is my own opinion!⭐️

This was a spicy novella. Short, sweet, and to the point. The characters were the focal point of this story, so there wasnt a lot of world building. (which wasn't necessary for the plot). The story flowed smoothly, the character development was organic and on point, and it lacked nothing. I never once felt like there were gaps that I needed to fill. Fiona Embers knows how to write a novella and she knows how to make it make an impact. This was spicy, fierce and feral. Did I mention it was hot 🔥? It was perfect!

Thank you to Fiona Embers for the e-arc of Rings True in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This was a quick, easy read about two people, Seth and Billie. It very much gave off right person, wrong time vibes, with how Billie was married to her childhood sweetheart, but harboured feelings for Seth, who was her college friend and lab partner. However, they lost touch over the years, and at a conference, years later are reunited, in which Seth learns that Billie is recently divorced and now single.

Seeing this as his opportunity to go after the woman he loves, Seth is a man determined to make sure Billie is his. It was short, spicy and fun, I just wished that it was a bit longer.

Oh how I love a man who isn't afraid to beg for the woman he loves! He was so patient allowing her to explore herself. I once had a ex husband similar to hers and I felt her fears and insecurities. This book is a must read if you like spice with all the honest feels and want to just spend a short time reading.

Thank you for choosing me to receive an ARC!

This book was very short and spicy! It very much gives right person, wrong time. This book is told in dual POV but very easy to follow along. Billie and Seth have known each other but Billie married her high school sweetheart. It always turns around when Seth finds out that Billie is divorced so he can pursue his love for her.

This was a super cute, super quick read with a surprising amount of spice for 59 pages. Seth is adorable, has been pining for years, and it's very swoon watching him take his shot. Billie has clearly not been treated right in the past and it takes her a bit to warm up to the way Seth already loves her. But the chemistry is there from the start. If you've got time to watch a movie, this book, in my opinion is a much better use of your time. All the feels and heat, in a snack sized portion.

4.5 spice

A short and sweet love story, showcasing the reunion of two scientists who never thought the other could love them. While this novella was short enough that some of the mental struggles were not discussed in depth, the brief representation of abusive/controlling relationships and the trauma they leave was done so well and I enjoyed every minute of the book. The sexy scenes were both funny and hot, and again showed that one can be hurt and still find love. Loved every page!

Thanks to the author for the eARC of this book, review is my own.

Novellas are tricky because you have to do a lot of heavy lifting in a short amount of time. Billie and Seth were perfect because they already had backstory (grad school friends) and Seth always secretly pined for her (she was married). They reconnect at a conference and Seth discovers Billie is divorced and all bets are off! A little insta-love on page but obvious he had been yearning for years and it was all pent up. Spice ratings are tough too since it's short so I'll give a 3🌶️ based on the amount of spice taking up 59 pages!

A very quick, read it in one go novella. Although a short read, it’s packed full of spice and heat. There are some seriously intense stalker vibes coming from the main character Seth. He has pined for Billie for years and is finally grabbing his chance to make her his. The pair have a brief, intense affair at a work conference which Seth hopes is only the beginning of their future.

Although a short story, I still felt we got to know both characters and there was enough background given to make their relationship progression feel genuine. An enjoyable, satisfying read.

Quick spicy read about Seth and Billie. Former grad school classmates, Seth has long harboured feelings for Billie but she was married to her high school boyfriend Doug. They meet four years later at a conference...but Billie is no longer wearing Doug's ring. Is Seth ready to make his move and is Billie receptive given she has just ended her marriage? Spicy but with a storyline that is easy to follow.

phew what a spicy little read! 🌶🌶🌶

A lovely short story of friends who wish they were more but unfortunately one is married.

Seth can't stay around Billie while she's married so moves away. They meet up 4 years later at a work conference and have catch up drinks with all their old college friends.

Seth notices that Billie isn't wearing her wedding ring and decides to go for it!

I really good short read with lots of spice!

A very to the point, spicy 🥵 novella about second chance love.
This dual POV will have you wanting another serving, despite being full of all the details wrapped up nicely in this short read. We get to see Billie and Seth’s backstory, current situation, and what happens in the future all within 59 pages. It’s rare that an author can provide so many details in such a short amount of time, but I felt satisfied with what Fiona gave us.
Thank you happily booked arc & Fiona for this story.

This was short, sweet, spicy, and I LOVED it!
One of my favorite things about this author, is how she writes strong female characters typically with jobs in a STEM field.
So I was absolutely thrilled when I got the opportunity to read her newest book.
I loved the friends to lovers trope.
I love that it was a second chance at love as well!
Told in Dual POVs, this was an amazing book that definitely packed a punch.
I cannot wait to read the full novella series!

Huge thank you to Fiona Embers for the arc!

Title: Rings True (Chemically Bonded Series)
Author: Fiona Embers
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Let me tell you something I fell in love with this short novella. It started off slow but boy did it get hot spicy and everything right. Seth the MMC went to grad school with his set group of friends Edie, Javi, Billie. They were thick as thieves but Seth could not deal with the fact that Billie was married to douchebag doug. He fell head over heels for her and after grad school he kind of lost contact for 4 years because he could not see her having a happy life with somebody that treated her like absolute trash. Now four years to the present. They all met back up at a conference where they were all speaking in their pharma industry conference. That is when Seth figured out that Billie our FMC took off her wedding ring and had been divorced for months now. He seen that as his opportunity of oh my God it's my chance I'm going to take it. Boy did he take it. Seth showed Billy everything that she was missing and had been missing the whole time. It was amazing actually.Billie had a lot of self-esteem issues because she was the nerd in high school so Doug made her feel like he was the best billie could do. That really stunted her until she finally seen Doug's true side and left. So when she got with Seth she was hesitant but he broke all of the bonds and bad thinking she was thinking and just blew her mind every which way was straight. I really love how the book ended I loved how they're engaged and life is going great. Yet what got me the most excited is when the author put that the chemically bonded series isn't stopping we are going to get Edie and javi's stories as well. This is the first time I've ever read anything by Fiona Embers and this will not be the last. I am super excited to see how this series continues and where it goes because I am super pumped I really love this book.

A short, to the point novella that’s quick and easy to read, making it perfect for those inbetween moments.

This story centres on Seth and Billie, who are reunited at a medical conference after years apart, both still harbouring unresolved feelings from their college days. Billie went on to marry her childhood sweetheart, while Seth kept his feelings firmly locked away. A classic case of right person, wrong time. At the conference, however, Seth discovers that Billie is recently divorced and now single. Interesting…

There’s definitely some instalove on the page, but thanks to the shared history, it works. Once things kick off, all bets are off and the spice hits. As expected from a spicy novella, it’s constant, but Embers still manages to weave in clear communication and a developing emotional connection alongside the heat.
Seth is confident and goes for what he wants, and he’s quick to notice Billie’s insecurities - which, don’t seem to stand much of a chance once the clothes start coming off. Still, the way he reassures and supports her is handled nicely. Billie learns to move past her baggage fairly quickly. As the story is under 60 pages, there isn’t much room for much plot development, but it’s still nice to see a well deserved ending.

That said, I do think this would have worked even better as a full length novel. Billie overcomes her vulnerabilities and insecurities almost instantly, whereas in reality that kind of healing usually takes more than one or two twists under the bedsheets.
At the end of the day, this is a short, spicy, and fun read, heavy on the smut, light on the plot and does exactly what it says on the tin!

Thank you to Happily Booked PR and Fiona Embers for sending me an ecopy.

A short, but spicy novella! Fiona Embers provides a second chance romance within the pages of Rings True, part of her Chemically Bonded series. Being under 100 pages, this book presents a lot of emotion quickly. The MCs are the pure focal point, providing a wonderful, quick read. Fiona holds nothing back in this short story, while still ensuring the book is well rounded and complete.

A right person, wrong time love story, without doubt! Seth and Billie knew each other in high school. Seth had feelings for Billie, but she was taken and eventually married her high school sweetheart. Having drifted apart after school, these two find themselves at the same conference. Both single and sparks still flying give into the chemistry between them. However, one night isn’t enough for Seth and he wants to prove to Billie they belong together.

This is the first book I have read by Fiona Embers and while I don’t know if it gives me a full rounded idea of her writing style, I definitely enjoyed the story overall! It gave me everything I like in a story. I was able to escape reality for some time, get to know characters that I could easily read more about, and the balance between plot and spice was perfect. I will definitely be looking into more books by Fiona!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

This is an arc review ✨ thank you to Fiona for giving me the chance to honestly review Rings true in exchange for the ebook.

This is a novella so it’s fast paced, filled with spice and it’s a HEA. I enjoyed it and I liked that the characters had a past and had known each other for years previous to the start of this book because the pace is too fast otherwise. I wasn’t sure what to think of Seth except that he was definitely going from 0 to a 100 with his intentions from the second he found out Billie was single for the first time since he’d known her. That instant and one sided set of expectations could’ve been a red flag if it had been an insta love, first time meeting plot but it works for them.

The spice is constant but not overwhelming and there is enough clear communication to establish that existing connection between the main characters, leading to a well deserved HEA after years of pining for each other in secret. It’s a quick read and I liked it.

Thank you for the arc!

In Rings True by Fiona Embers, we are treated to an addictive, fast-paced "right person, wrong time" romance that serves as the perfect spicy palate cleanser. As the first installment of the Chemically Bonded series, this story follows former lab partners Seth and Billie, whose graduate school chemistry finally reaches a boiling point during a chance reunion at a conference.
Seth has spent years pining for Billie from afar, but with her recent divorce, he finally has a four-day window to prove they belong together. Fiona Embers excels at crafting strong female characters in STEM, and Billie is no exception. Told through a dual POV, this second-chance novella is short, sweet, and incredibly high-heat. While I found myself wishing it were longer because I loved the characters so much, it still manages to pack an emotional punch. This is an amazing start to the series, and I cannot wait to dive into the rest of these novellas. Huge thank you to Fiona Embers and Happily Booked PR for the ARC!

Absolutely LOVED this book!!

🥰❤️📖💍🖤💍📖❤️🥰

From the very first page, you can immediately feel the sparks slowly rekindle between Seth and Billie...

Seth is definitely the total package...smart, sexy, and a complete sweetheart...the fact that his feelings never changed in the years he had distanced himself from Billie all while she was married to a man whom he knew didn't deserve her along with jumping through hoops just to show her what it feels like to finally be loved and cherished by a real man...*SWOON*!! 😍

Though with her own heart still mending from a bitter divorce and the fear of getting hurt again, Billie is a bit hesitant...letting the past hold her back from her true feelings and desires...but when Seth offers to uproot his own life just to be with her and to prove his love to her, will it be an offer she can't refuse...?

Absolutely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+, I definitely recommend!! Be sure to check out "Rings True" by Fiona Embers!!

This book for being as short as it is packed a punch. It jumped right in to story and didn’t bother with fluff we didn’t need. Seth and Billie are perfect for each other. Timing may not have been right in the past but now things burn hotter than ever. We got good character description and even better spice. But the raw emotional vulnerability is what really gripped me. It was just a spice fest that ended smoothly without incident or communication. They had real talks and worked through things together and with friends. Billie really came into her own voice and strength and Seth supported her so well. He never once made her feel like she was too much or that he mattered more. In fact it was the opposite. He put her at the forefront and was willing to uproot and change his life for her, and never once thought to demand that from her. He backed her always and she came out of the pit she had found herself in. These two got together perfectly and the ending is exactly what they needed.

✨️ARC REVIEW✨️

"You are free now. You can do anything you want."

Thankyou Happily Booked PR & Fiona Embers for this ARC opportunity! 🫶🏻

This novella was such a good time! It never felt rushed but still managed to give just enough backstory to make everything click. The pacing was smooth, the flow was easy, and I flew through it without even noticing the pages turning. 🙌🏻

It was absolutely serving right person, wrong time and I ate that up. 🤭 The chemistry? Off. The. Charts. 🥵 You could *feel* all that pent up yearning pouring out of Seth, and once he saw no ring on her finger there was no stopping him from going after the love of his life. 🥰

If you’re in the mood for something sweet with a little kick of spice, this is a perfect pick. Super easy to devour in one sitting and ideal for that in between books moment or when you’re stuck in a dreaded reading slump and need a quick reminder of why you love romance. ❤️‍🔥

Seth + Billie

This novella packs a punch! Usually, with novellas there is SOMETHING missing which doesn't make it as entertaining. With Rings True, Fiona Embers does a great job of having 2 characters already established with one another.. so, we've got a little back story as well as great supporting characters to help round out the story.

Seth has always wanted to be with Billie but never crossed the line because she was married.. until now.

Billie never crossed the line with Seth because she was married AND because she thought he deserved better.

When these two hit the sheets the communication, reassurance, and sparks between these two made me want more than 58 pages.

Thank you to Happily Books PR and the author for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rings True by @maurayzmore_fionaembers

A terrific short spicy read with some touching moments between Seth & Billie.

Billie for got married young to her high school boyfriend. Then she starts her graduate degree and growing, learning about herself only to be emotionally controlled by her husband.

Seth always has feelings for Billie. She was it for him, he knew it. But her being married caused that train to just pause on the rails.

Their years of friendship and mutual pining have formed a solid foundation for their new relationship. I loved how Seth made it his mission to show Billie how she should have been treated all along. He listened to her, asked questions and slowed down when things got too intense or she felt overwhelmed. He was more of a partner to her in first night together than her husband did their entire marriage.

I went into this contemporary romance hoping for an engaging story with a STEM backdrop, but unfortunately, it was very uncomfortable to read. The male lead comes across as insufferably arrogant, convinced he’s a gift to womankind, and his behavior often borders on controlling and toxic. The female main character is supposed to be healing from past trauma, but her growth feels rushed and unrealistic, almost like a miracle cure overnight. The dynamic between them completely lacks equality or mutual respect, which made it hard to root for the romance at all. Overall, despite an interesting premise, the book fails to deliver a healthy, believable relationship and left me more frustrated than entertained.

Novellas can be hit or miss for me. This one was good. The back story was laid out. The scene made sense. The characters were developed and the pacing was good. The MMC, Seth, has been pining for the MFC, Billie, for 8 long years when they met in grad school and she was not available and he was in the friend zone. When Seth sees Billie for the first time in four years and realizes that the field is finally open, he doesn’t hesitate to go after what he wants. He has golden retriever energy to her scared bunny energy. But that doesn’t deter him. He is loving and vulnerable to her. But can she overcome her past to be vulnerable with him? Read it and see – you won’t be disappointed.
