"It's like Fifty Shades of Grey meets The Devil Wears Prada meets Girls!" —Carrie Adel
Determined to overcome her difficult past, Anna Starr lands a coveted job at the nation's biggest celebrity magazine in the center of the New York City power scene. She learns early on to make it on her own, and through sheer force of will she does. But frustration sets in when the dark side of tabloid journalism starts to poke through, and she gets duped while dating slicker-than-thou city boys.
Amidst a sea of cocktail parties, Anna meets rising art star Damien Wolfe. Their connection is dangerous, intense, and passionate beyond her imagination. He sees her in a way that she has never seen herself, setting her on a journey toward self-discovery—understanding what it means to be truly loved for the first time in her life. But she may lose it all when her blind ambition and his dark past lead to a crisis that changes everything.
I really enjoyed this story. Ava did a great job creating characters that you could relate to. She takes us on a journey through out New York's night life and what it could be like as a reporter to a celebrity magazine. Following her dream to be a big time reporter someday Anna Starr leaves her hippie type parents and country life - for the hustle and thrill of the big apple. Ok so it is not exactly what she had hoped for but she gets a spot at Celeb magazine. Finally getting out into the streets to do some stories she meets some interesting people, but there is one she cant stop thinking about, and their paths keep intertwining. But with them both having demons to face in the love department can they find each other? The story kept me interested and I might have stayed up late a few nights because I could not put it down. Overall I feel it is a story about chasing your dreams and following your heart and I am glad I had the chance to read it.
Ava I loved this book. You are very talented. It is funny and full of love. I really enjoyed reading this. It is so much like real life. This book keeps you wanting more. I didn't want to put it down.
What a fun read! I loved all the New York nightlife and the inside look at celebrity journalism. And the love story with the "wolf of the art world", it was hot. Hope this becomes a series.
Sweet Muse, by Ava Cummings, is a modern day chick lit with a whole lot of sizzling romance. Anna Starr left her small hometown in order to follow her dream of making it as journalist in New York City. When Anna gets scared or feels like she needs advice, all she has to do is picture what her aunt would say to her. Ever since Anna was a little girl she has looked up to her aunt, who was a journalist in a well-respected New York magazine. Anna knows that she will have to work her way to the top so she eagerly accepts a job at Celeb, a celebrity magazine that has recently started becoming more Perez Hilton than People. The juicer the story means the more magazines sold and Anna soon learns that Celeb draws no lines when publishing tabloid gossip. In order to flourish at her job Anna has to eat or be eaten. Will Anna be able to make a difference with her writing or will the glamour of celebrity parties and rubbing shoulders with the Hollywood elite taint her?
While pondering her life goals and trying to get over her insecurities, Anna is also adjusting to the city life. She finds herself thrust into an environment that is both foreign and addictive to her. Anna’s ability to trust men was ruined by her father walking out on her mother long ago. This has deeply impacted Anna's psyche and relationships. Unfortunately, Anna is quickly finding that the dating scene in New York isn't helping her get past her trust issues. Man after man continues to disappoint her, until she meets a mysterious guy who makes her question all she previously believed. Is their strong connection merely a coincidence or is there really something there between them?
I really enjoyed reading the different New York nightlife scenes. Being a small town girl myself, going out on the town here is catching the latest movie. Cummings really paints a detailed picture of big city life and celebrity parties in Sweet Muse. In particular, Cummings does a superb job of writing about the various New York City restaurants. I could easily picture the atmosphere and smell the aromas she described.
Sweet Muse is a fun and lighthearted book that leaves you with a smile on your face. I found myself rooting for Anna and hoping she would not only find love but see her dream of being a legit journalist come true. Ava Cummings has a winner in Sweet Muse! If you are looking for a new read to take to the pool or beach, this chick lit novel is for you!

I often forget how nice it is to read a genre you rarely read when you give it a chance. I usually like to play it safe by reading YA or NA, but I should keep mixing it up from time to time because I might miss titles that are interesting and worth to check out just like Sweet Muse.
This book was an enjoyable read, very glamorous and bright as it is set in the hectic city of New York, but also deep and inspiring thanks to the strong main character. It is a story about love and passion, of facing inner demons and beating insecurities. It portrays quite well how one must follow your instincts and make the right choices, even when you've made all the wrong ones before choosing the right road.
I liked that the main character, Anna Starr, was such a hard-working and independent woman out to make her dreams come true. Even though working at Celeb magazine didn't turn out to be the dream job it ought to have been, and after making so many mistakes in both her romantic and work life, she rises and grows so much from the experience and builds a strong personality that turns her into an admirable person.
Her romantic life was interesting to read about since she develops several relationships throughout the book, some good ones and others ... not so much. Damien, by far, was the best suitor, I liked that with him things went slowly and developed sort of like how a normal relationship (though they weren't normal), unlike the quick hookups she has with others. Actually, this was the only thing that bothered me about Anna's character. I know I'm not supposed to judge, but geesh, she should have made the men work for it.
Giving a small spin to that thought, I have to say that this book did turn out to be a bit of a challenge for me to read completely since I'm not used to reading hot, steamy scenes. They cross the line of my comfort zone so I usually end up skipping most of those parts and I cross my fingers in hopes of not missing anything important of the plot. I think I didn't miss much here.
Overall, Sweet Muse is a good book with a storyline worth checking out. However, I do recommended this book to readers 18+ due to mature scenes, so please keep that in mind. ;)

This book is a combination of genres. Erotica, Romance, Thriller all tied into one book you just can’t put down!
Anna is a gossip magazine reporter. She stumbles upon something that can get her name on the map bigger than she ever dreamed before.
Anna also has an undeniable attraction to an artist she met one night at an event. Damien is everything she’s ever wanted but didn’t think she’d have. Damien has his demons just like Anna. Which will win: love or the demons?
I really enjoyed this book and hope that there will be a book 2 given how this book ended. The erotica part of this book describes the sex scenes in a very tasteful way. You can feel the sexual tension with the characters.
This is a sex in the city kind of book. Anna Starr the main character is a small town country girl who moved to the New York City to pursue her dream of becoming a reporter much like her favorite Aunt Sylvia did before her.
Her sexual escapades with different men over the course of several months as she works as an assistant to the Chief Editor of the fictional Celeb magazine are well told.
The chance meeting with Damien Wolf the artist and her discovery of a mystery going on at Celeb all culminate in great action and the inevitable falling in love for Starr.
