Four crises. One impossible choice. And Earth herself demands payment.

Alien parasites still infest humanity - and now the enemy has reached the highest levels of power. As Maggie, James, and the dragons race to stop the Lamni infiltration, the fate of their world begins to unravel from within.

But the war is no longer only political.

Mother Earth stands on the brink of collapse. The sun god Apollo demands payment for his power - and this time, the cost is Lilly, the Oracle.

If she refuses him, her gift may die with her.

As prophecy tightens around the Oracle, the Protector, and the Gatekeeper, Konner finds himself bound to an enemy in ways that threaten everything he believes.

And Lark faces the cruelest choice of all.

To save the people he loves, he may have to break time itself.

But every fracture carries a price.

As gods clash, destinies unravel, and worlds collide, free will becomes the final battlefield. Because when every path leads to loss, the greatest act of love may be the one that breaks every rule.

Reckoning is the eighth and final book in the Rare Wolf series - an epic urban fantasy of found family, impossible choices, gods versus mortals, and the war for the future of Earth itself.

K.J. Carr

K J Carr has always been a voracious reader, often bringing home a stack of all genres of books each week from the library as a child. She read romance, science fiction, fantasy, historical romance, self-help -- basically if it was in the library, she would read it. Luckily she was allowed into the adult section when she was around ten since she was reading eight or more books per week.

When she was older, book stores became her happy place, able to spend hours looking for books to purchase (and to increase her debt).

These books caused her imagination to soar and she started writing her own stories. Unfortunately, life got in the way and writing was put to the side for a while, albeit never forgotten.

After reading about heroines whom she just wanted to slap, she decided she would write about the characters she wanted to hang out with. Those who try to conquer their worlds with wit and snarkiness.

I did like the series at first, but after book 5 I continued on reading, but I just couldn't stand Shane and Holden anymore. To be so selfish to Maggie after everything she's been through. And for him to have the audacity to be like, well, at least Maggie's alive when her baby's not. It just went down hill from there.

Why did Maggie's baby have to die when he didn't lose any of his 3 children? And then to have Maggie watching their children legit right after she just lost her own child and for her to be smiling? Yeah, right. I know this is fantasy, but to legitimately even think that they would EVER be the same after losing their baby is ridiculous, much less that she would want to be around the person that caused it ever again. Plus, James should've never shaken his hand and been alright with it. Every time I saw Shane or Holden after that just disgusted me.

And then the last book the plot just fell apart Miranda was pregnant a couple books back but all of a sudden the reason she keeps having miscarriages is because her tubes? And then Maggie's miscarriages are because of her being a wolf while James is a dragon? It's like the writer forgot they wrote that Omega's could become pregnant by any species and Maggie had already been pregnant before all of this mess.
