Victoria Ansley’s life is spiraling out of control. Seeking solace and peace of mind, she arrives in Seagrass Cove to stay with her Aunt Vonnie. But her life takes a dangerous turn when the sheriff tells Victoria her aunt has gone missing. What is going on? She works with the handsome sheriff to find her beloved aunt while running her aunt’s successful bakery. They unearth a hidden speakeasy, dead bodies, and a skeleton. Victoria wonders what other secrets her aunt is hiding. As the danger climbs and Victoria’s life is in peril, Sheriff Blake moves into the house to protect her. Feelings long buried surface for Victoria. Can they find Aunt Vonnie before it’s too late? Can they uncover what happened to all the dead bodies? Can Victoria let Blake into her heart?

A Hero’s Heart is a breathtaking romantic mystery full of twists and turns, a full list of suspects, a missing aunt, and an unexpected romance. From the first page until the last, I was fully invested. The descriptive narration is immersive and will pull you into the story. The plot is equal parts romance and mystery. The romantic tension between Victoria and Blake will have you reading late in the night. The world-building is so well done and will have you whipping through the pages. The characters, though, are what makes A Hero’s Heart unputdownable.

If you enjoy reading Catherine Cowles, Barbara Freethy, and Mia Sheridan, you’ll want to read A Hero’s Heart.

Evelyn Timidaiski’s first attempt at writing a mystery is a home run. Following advice from experts, she keeps the hits on coming, one more dangerous than the last. Balancing the mystery surrounding the historic Maine cottage is the sweet romance between Victoria and Blake—turning the story into a winner all around.
Based on a scale of 1-5, A Hero’s Heart merits a 6.
