Oh did I love this book! I love Leena, and Jackal and Starla and I adore Pickles! Heck, I love the entire list of characters! They are presented with a realism that has me wanting to be friends with them all! Well, ok, not EVERYONE, there are those who make my blood boil.
I do love how the author let's us jump right in with the action, right in to the chaos that's Leena's mind. And poor Leena, not only does she have to deal with her almost crippling OCD, she has another element of panic to overcome. Two more actually... firstly, her siren magic which is surfacing faster than she anticipated, secondly, the whole mate thing which is blowing her mind. Her growth, as indeed all the characters, is superbly done. Heck, even Pickles grows in leaps and bounds! Yes...see what I did there? But seriously, his magical abilities are evolving, just as Leena's are, just as Starla's are. I particularly loved the growth in Leena, her "problems" are stark but very sensitively handled by the author. Very realistic, it evoked so much sympathy in me for her internal battle. I loved that she was 💯 aware and tried to quiet her overactive mind, the entire "conversation" she has with herself is so plausible. I adore that she doesn't allow herself to fall into a spiral, and the strength she shows while acknowledging her thoughts.
Never a dull moment in this read. Geez, all a girl wants is to go on a much anticipated date, but...besides the fact that there's a murder to solve, and an obvious attempt to lay it on Leena, there's still the threat of Leon Stone hanging over their heads, there's a curse that needs to be broken, magic that needs to be unleashed and understood, there's the bond thing that needs to be addressed, there's an attempt to usurp a coven and lay Grammy Pearl....aside..., plus another murder that made me sob, so yep, loads!
The action was so fierce throughout, I absolutely loved it! This author just has a magical elixer that turns her words into adrenaline fueled coursing through me like an electric shock. Ms Reames could have been responsible for my unhinged jaw, numerous times! THAT boat ride! OMG! The pacing caught me off guard, steadily progressing, ticking up page by page. And the tension, the intensity of this book honestly caught me by surprise, completely gobsmacked me! I didn't even realise how much the author amped it up until my heart rate was going through the roof! The entire read had me at the edge of my seat, without me even realising it. THAT is the mark of exceptional penmanship! THAT is the magic I was talking about which Silas has in abundance!
I adore how Ms Reames given Jackal a tender side, it is so beautiful I wanted to cry from sheer emotions. As deadly as he can be, his patience with Leena is exquisitely penned, never pushy, never forceful, always there for her. I also love how Ms Reames gave us a very credible account of Leena and her"problems". Even though Leena was "learning" to handle her thoughts from intruding too much, she still was "her" enough to chase after Leon on her own but I loved the determination side of Leena, she is showing her ability for control of herself. Even when well thought out plans do what they inevitably do, go awry! She's no shrinking violet and I love how she doesn't give in to using her new ability, she has morals and a sense of right.
I'm pretty much like a marionette in this authors hands, she pulls the strings, I comply. Each time she changes the strings, elicits something different from me. With Starla, she makes me laugh. With Cannon, she makes me smile. With Jackal she sets off a swarm of butterflies in my tummy. With Grammy, she makes me warm, loved. With Shanell and Harold, she made me cry. With Pickles, well, he makes me laugh and ooo and awww, all at the same time. With Leena, all my sympathetic juices are activated. Truth be told, Leena made me smile, giggle, cry and feel absolutely wretched for her. Especially after she reads a letter which nearly decimated me. And that's only a few of the characters! I haven't even delved into the magnificence of the plot, or the incredibly immersive fast pace of the book, or the extremely captivating world she crafts, or the mayhem of the deadly action, that had my blood throbbing through my veins.
It was super cool to see Ji-hwan again, and the cameo by Never and Hugh, as it was to see Cannon stepped up and how Leena's perception of her brother changes. He and Malcolm are just an adorable couple. I really love how Ms Reames showcases that everyone has a vulnerability, the outer shell doesn't reflect the inner person. This was really a fabulous read, every step getting closer to solving the curse, every step showing so much warmth and support for Leena. Geez, when once again Leena is in major trouble, my heart nearly stopped! Which the author kick-started with the next few incidences. Awesome read. Awesome character development, awesome intense plot development and progression, with a gorgeous warmth infusing me. Except, the epilogue, oh my heck, Grammy Pearl's revelation could have stopped a tsunami in it's wake! I can hardly wait for the next adventure of Leena and co!

The supernatural animal operation has been dealt a blow by Leena and her friends. But the man in charge, Leon, is still out there along with at least one of his close partners. So, when a dive customer ends up drowned near a popular dive site Leena becomes the prime suspect. Then another person is murdered and it looks even worse for Leena, but she manages to get to safety after some serious surprises. After they hatch a scheme to draw Leon out, they think they have the upper hand but when does fate ever give them exactly what they hoped for?
Leena is really trying to work on her OCD, but she just can't seem to give up worrying about everyone she cares about. She is also struggling with the siren curse and all the chaos that brings with it. She constantly downplays how strong she really is but in this book she really gets to see how wrong she is. Starla is definitely one of my favorite side characters ever with her very creative insults. She is a forced to be reckoned with in her own right. Jackal is there to support Leena with whatever she needs, whether it's emotional support or an enemy taken down. I was glad to see Leena's brother, Cannon, and Malcolm back as well.
This is another fun, fast paced story. The plot moves at the perfect pace and Leena and crew are thrown from one fire into the next. And Leon definitely works quickly in this book with his schemes and all I can say is holy cow without spoiling things!! This bok is definitely action packed and had me on the edge of my seat as I was reading. But rest assured, Leena makes the right decision and the ending was absolutely perfect! This does end this story arc, but luckily there is more to Leena and Starla's story and whew boy there is another surprise for everyone coming, but esp for Starla! This author has quickly become one of my new favorites and I highly recommend this series as well as all the other books she has written!

So this review is a bit different. It's not about the story. I firmly believe stories should be discovered, not learned about ahead of time. Anyone who has read a single book by this author knows that the story is going to be superb, every single time. There's no question or doubt about that. Silas Reames is a true creative with an unmatched talent for storytelling.
What I want to write about here, is her handling of a highly misunderstood topic. The main character has a condition known as OCD. This is a serious, life-affecting condition that is distressingly joked about all too often. How many times have we seen on social media, things like, "I'm a little OCD today," or a picture that's a bit crooked and everyone saying, "Oh my OCD". That's not what it is at all.
So, in addition to being a fantastic story, this particular series serves as an educational tale, to raise awareness of what it actually means to live with OCD. Every person with this disorder is different, which is also recognized. It's not overbearing, it's not a lecture, it's not even the topic of the series. It's just there. It's part of who she is, and a consistent part of her thought process, as we see the world from her view. My respect for the author was already incredibly high, and the tasteful and respectful way this is managed is just amazing.
That said, as someone who has struggled with mental health for decades, this is not a series I'd read when I was in a down phase. Not because there's anything distressing in the books, but the consistent presence of it (which is 100% how it should be) is also a consistent reminder. I tend to read to escape, and it's not that kind of series.
So, time and place. Read it. Learn from it. Enjoy it. 100% recommended.

Leena and Starla are trying to get back to normal after the events of the last book when one of Leena’s dive clients is found dead and all signs are pointing to Leena. Unfortunately, that’s just the start of a pretty convincing frame job which forces Leena and her friends to escape to the coven’s home to try to figure out what’s going on.
I really love Leena, I’m pretty sure I said this in my reviews for the prequel and first story, but I really appreciate and can relate to her catastrophic thinking and he OCD is presented in a accurate, relatable way. I like how not only she, but her friends and found family handle it as well, none of them belittle her for her feelings, which I appreciate. I love Leena and Jackyl together, but I felt bad for them because there’s just so much going on in this book that they couldn’t even get through their first date! I really liked how all the main characters progressed and grew in this book. It was such an enjoyable read that I breezed through it in just a few hours. And OMG, that epilogue! It has a hefty revelation that sets up the next book nicely! I truly cannot wait to see what happens next for Leena, Starla, Jackyl, Exos, Pickles and the rest of the gang!

What a blast I had in-between chewing my thumb, grabbing extra coffee (book in hand) , reading this packed, well paced edition. After the previous hideous experiments In book 1, Leon is still in the wind or so we thought. Drama is about to hit big time whilst Leena is trying to come to terms with being Jackal's fated mate. Adelaide and her coven caused trouble in the Sea Wench and Ivyrn Works is involved. A suspicious murder and then another (had to wipe a tear, that was a blow) and non other than Leena is arrested on her 1st date. Spinning her way out, Gram Pearl decided all has to stay on the coven's island, but they got viciously attacked. By now the skin is chewed raw, as the suspense tempo picked up drastically. Pickles showed another interesting magical trait, Starla's quirks had me in stitches, some more romance are in the air, Never and Co appearing briefly had me delighted, just to mention some, but then Silas threw a huge curve ball to chew on in the end with Gram Pearl's vision. Now the waiting starts anew.

I loved book one where we met Leena, a naiad with OCD and runs a diving company and her friends. After what happened in book one, they all deserve a break but that doesn’t go to plan when a dive customer turns up dead with all signs pointing to Leena. It’s definitely a frame job as another body drops and of course we all know who is to blame. It’s an enthralling read that grabs you and holds on tight all the while Leena is still struggling with her siren curse and OCD! It’s a fun, well paced and action filled read and a great addition to this incredible series with wonderful world building that is descriptive and so beautiful and our characters that are fascinating and well developed. Twists and turns, magic, betrayal, action and so much more, I adore this series and look forward to more from this world.

I read some authors, and I am so darn happy with them, I wish all books I read were like that, and this is one such author. This is the latest in the series, and Leena is on the hunt for Leon, and it’s impacted by her being framed for murder. This is filled with action, and I was just really thrown for a loop at the end during the epilogue. I. DID. NOT. SEE. That coming. *gasps* I love that. LOL! Anyway, this latest is even better than the first, and I loved seeing some of the characters from Never’s series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This book was a wild ride. There was love, magic, tension, betrayal, sadness and fierce FMCs. Can't wait for the next book, I flew through this one in no time.

I wasn’t as big a fan of the plot in this installment as the previous books, but the overarching plot did get some traction.

We join Leena a couple of weeks after bringing down the secret criminal enterprise of Leon Stone & Ivyrn Works involving animals, supernaturals & trying to combine the two! Leon & Linda are still at large but the Magikai are on it & in true Leena fashion her mind is obsessing with all the things that could go wrong & less on the things that could go right...... avoiding spoilers is the worst part of ARC reading but be safe in the knowledge that Leena, Pickles, Starla, Granny Pearl & co all have a wonderful time. Even Never & some familiar faces get cameos too 😜
Silas Reames writes beautifully, the pace is perfect, the humour thrown into the mix is inspired, add in found family, curses, creatures & the chaos that is the mind of an anxious naiad with OCD, you have yourself a brilliant book to escape reality with
10/10 highly recommend
