On Christmas Eve, 1843, a woman is brutally axe murdered. Her sister-in-law, Polly Bodine, is accused of the killing and branded the "Witch of Staten Island." In 1993, history is reimagined with the victim's sister-in-law, Polly Marlowe, branded as the "Witch of Maple Park." Surprise awaits as the dour private eye, Harry Grouch, unravels the astonishing parallels in the tales of the two Polly's.
Robert Tell was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and educated in English Literature at Long Island University. This fueled his lifelong desire to write.
He now has 8 published books, an assortment of published poems, and a growing fan following for his Harry Grouch Mystery Series. Robert Tell's work has won several prestigious awards, including the Eric Hoffer Book Award Grand Prize Finalist, and First Runner Up for the Hoffer E-Book Fiction category.
At Columbia University he went on to study hospital administration and public health. His work in hospitals and health planning agencies provided the insight and medical authenticity that is found in much of his published fiction.
Robert Tell also founded a successful business specializing in health care consulting...but he never gave up his dream of creating entertaining fiction. In order to devote full time to writing, he sold his business and left salaried work for good. He never looked back.
Robert Tell is grateful that his parents didn't name him "William Tell." He and his wife live in Farmington Hills, Michigan and winter in Boynton Beach, Florida.
He can be found most days at the keyboard of his MacBook Air.
The story started off with a murder (very gruesome) but then I felt it slowed down. I did keep reading and the story grabbed me and kept me interested to the end. Interesting comparisons to an age old murder and this one. The characters were so well developed that it was easy to love or hate them.
This is a bewitching ride with Detective Harry Grouch and a great story! The Witch of Maple Park not only is a fascinating mystery, it is a very interesting story that parallels an actual, historical case. You especially will enjoy this book if reincarnation intrigues you. The Witch of Maple Park is another winner by Robert Tell! My hope is that it is only the first of a series of Harry Grouch cases that Mr. Tell will write.
