With college graduation looming, three childhood friends vow to make spring break their last blast of pure fun in the sun. But some of their hottest life lessons are yet to come…

Her Best Shot

Layla Sharpe is definitely more math ninja than bikini babe. Layla knows enough about angles to learn the game, but when he offers her a place to stay, she wants him to appreciate her curves…

Her Perfect Game

Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. Now she’s entering a “hackfest” over spring break, where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who’s been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into Jonah, the hot guy who walked away years ago. Charlie can’t fight the desire that comes rushing back, and the feeling is more mutual than she suspects…

Her Winning Formula

Chemistry major Felicity Stone knows everything about how chemicals interact, but when it comes to social interaction, she needs schooling. Abandoned by her friends, Felicity is faced with spending spring break alone—unless she accepts a gorgeous stranger’s invitation to pose as his girlfriend at a family wedding. Not one to turn down a research opportunity, Felicity never expected such breathtaking results—ones that could last a lifetime…

Three childhood best friends. And all three ladies are hot and nerdy!!! And in Shannyn Schroeder's Hot & Nerdy Anthology which consist of three different stories that focuses on each friend on their last spring break, Ms. Schroeder will entice readers with a sexy, sweet, charming, brainy romance of a math geek, a computer hacker, and a science nerd discovering that good girls can also go crazy and let loose.... hot, sexy, fun on spring break.

In Her Best Shot, we are introduced to Layla Sharpe, a math genius who was recently offered a job at the NSA. And so she and her best friends decide to meet up in Texas for one last fun fling before they all graduate and separate. On her way to Texas, Layla's car breaks down and so she stuck in a small town in Georgia. While waiting for her car to get repaired, she meets Phin at a local bar and soon these two begin to play pool. As Layla and Phin engages in their pool session, Layla's wallet get stolen leaving her stranded. With no car and money, Phin offers her a place to stay for the night. And soon, things begin to heat up with Layla and Phin. So will Layla be showing all her angles to Phin?

I enjoyed Layla's story but did not love it. I just felt this story dealt more with them playing pool and having sex. Yes there was some intimate moments of them explaining their pasts and their dreams, but I felt it was overshadowed by the all the pool games and sex. Overall, it was a quick romance read. I just wished I got to see more interactions with her friends since I love the idea of three girlfriends letting loose together.

In the second book, Her Perfect Game, we are introduced to Charlie Castle, a gamer and a computer hacker. When she goes to "hackfest", she didn't expect to meet her ex-boyfriend Jonah. As Jonah and Charlie begin to spend more time with one another, old feelings begins to reemerge. Can an old flame be rebooted?

Charlie and Jonah's story really intrigued me more than the first story since this couple shared a history. I like this second story way better since there was more of an emotional and deep connection formed between Charlie and Jonah. Overall, this story was a quick sweet romance read.

In third installment of the Hot @nd Nerdy anthology, we are introduced to Felicity Stone, a brainy science nerd who loves solving chemical formulas and equations. On her way to Texas to meet her friends, Felicity meets Lucas Tanner, a teacher who is also heading to Texas for his brother's wedding. Call it coincidence or fate, Felicity and Lucas ends up seating next to each other on the plane where Lucas asked Felicity if he could be his date to his brother's wedding. With her friends abandoning her on spring break, Felicity agrees to be his date. With a few drinks in her system, Felicity and Lucas finds themselves forming their own chemistry.

Her Winning Formula was my favorite out of the three stories. I felt Felicity and Lucas story was still able to maintain a sizzling chemistry but was also able to showcase a tangible bond forming between these two. This novella was able to flow at a great pace and yet kept readers engaged in this sweet and cute romance.

A light, cute, fun and sexy read. The Hot and Nerdy novella trilogy focuses on three almost of of college best friends, having them close to incorporate themselves to the real world and finding love. My review focuses on the first in the trilogy, Her Best Shot.

Layla Sharpe is dreading the real world enough to give her panic attacks. But a dream job offer and a spring break getaway with her two bestest friends is enough to cheer any girl. Especially one who is more nerdy than lively. Her excitement though is short-lived when her car leaves her stuck halfway to her friends with sexy con artist whose freedom to go as he please and do as he wants is a sharp contrast to the prospect of having a 9-5 job. Can she convince him to take her on his adventurous life?

For the past few years, Phin Marks has lead a nomad life relying on his pool knowledge to plan to settle down and begin his life. When the sassy geek accepts his offer to stay at his place while her car is repaired he only assumed they’d have a few days of fun. But the longer he spends his time with her the more natural and deeper their connection becomes. Knowing he doesn’t have anything to offer her and that she has her future planned out, can he to let her go or will he convince her to take a chance on them?

This was a fun and enjoyable novella with two very likeable main characters. Phin’s bad boyish persona is a good compliment to Layla’s nerdyness. Their back and forth flintiness and chemistry feels natural and made me want to root for them despite the short time they spend together.

Although I was disappointed in Layla for not facing her fears and future head on and especially by Phin’s way of handling this, I did like that it made her confront herself and not waste away her education. And I really liked how Phin fought for them.

I think that due to its light nature and length the character development was also light with a somewhat rushed ending. But the easy flow of this first book and the peek I got from Layla’s best friends made me curious to read their stories as well.

Her Best Show is book #1 in the Hot and Nerdy trilogy by Shannyn Shroeder. It is told from the heroine’s point of view and has a happy ending. So if you’re looking for a short and hot new adult romance this a novella for you.

My Thoughts Hot @nd Nerdy is the compilation of the three books in the Hot @nd Nerdy trilogy by Shannyn Schroeder. I picked up this book to read the last story, Her Winning Formula and to have all three of the books in one place. I knew after I read the first book, Her Best Shot, that this was a series formula that I was going to love. First, I love that the books are told in dual narrative between each of the main guys and girls and I think you all know by now that is my favorite story telling narrative method. and Second, the trilogy follows a group of three friends. The books are each of their stories, BUT the cool part is that each of the books take place in roughly the same time period. For example, Her Best Shot is the story of Layla and Phin. Layla was on her way to spend spring break with her friend Felicity when her car broke down and she met Phin. The third book, Her Winning Formula is Felicity's story and it takes place on their spring break trip that Layla was supposed to go on. What a cool concept right? I loved reading them all and seeing how they each fit together.

Here are my full reviews of books 1 & 2 in case you want to check them out. I will be recaping them in this compilation:

Her Best Shot
Her Perfect Game
Her Best Shot, the first book, is the story of Layla and Phin. Layla is super smart. She picks up on things almost immediately, she loves to be in control and she hates losing at things. She is beyond your average nerd. I love that her dream job is as a code analyst. Phin could not be more different, where Layla likes to calculate odds and plan her moves out ahead, Phin is much more a fly by the seat of your pants kind of guy. And this is defiantly a story of opposites attract. Her Best Shot is perfect for when you are looking for a quick, pick me up read. The romance is great and the characters are likable.

Her Perfect Game, the second book, was almost completely about Charlie, Win, and Jonah. Her friends only showed up in phone call cameo's and the book was split between a con and hacking convention, both of which took place in Chicago over the same weekend. I loved that you had to passed a series of secret tests and challenges before you were even invited to participate in the hacking competition. Charlie is good. Really good. It was so cool to get a little insight into the things that she could do. I have no idea if these types of conventions exist for hackers, but I am so hoping that they do. And the fact that companies send people to scout them for jobs, is so freakin' awesome!

The Third book, Her Winning Formula is Felicity's story. In it we finally get to travel on that spring break trip that was promised in book 1. Felicity is the only one of the three friends that actually makes it on the trip. Felicity is a science whiz. These ladies are the coolest kind of nerds. I loved how diverse their interests were, but they were still such great friends. Felicity's story has great romance and characters too, and it fits in great with the other two. I'm not sure whose story I liked more Felicity or Charlie's. It's a toss up. I love how Shannyn Schroeder has created the perfect blend between a shorter story that reads really fast, and enough detail to make the story feel full and complete.

I am really hoping for a fourth book that has all the girls together. Maybe the can finally go on that trip together that they always wanted. Or maybe it could be an NSA/computer security issue that Charlie, Layla and Jonah need to tackle. I just want more. If you like new adult, this is a series that you should be reading. But like I said before, the real winner here is how Shannyn Schroeder structured the trilogy. I just love that all of the stories take place in the same time frame. The Hot & Nerdy series is a very cool concept, one that I would like to see more of in New Adult. I want to read 50 more books like these.

Layla and Phil’s story was sexy and fun. There was a lot of discussion about playing pool and plenty of sexy times to move things along. I liked the two together, also though their relationship fell under summer fling more then something serious.

Charlie and Jonah’s story was a sweet second chance romance I liked best. I liked how the emotions came across in this book. Charlie and Jonah had baggage, but how they handled it was what I enjoyed most.

Felicity and Lucas’s story was an awkward meet cute. Felicity thinks she has no social skills and having her memorize questions and responses was rather funny. Lucas could hold his own with her and it was nice to see both of them trying to work towards something more.

Overall, this was a cute anthology of novellas. The age bracket isn’t normally my first choice, (the girls are in their 20’s, graduating college/the guys are a little older with a variety of backgrounds) but I’m happy I gave this set a whirl. The stories were cute, nerdy, and a little flirty.

All books that describe people who aren't white as "exotic" automatically lose point for me. Cute, quick reads though, otherwise.

DNF after 1st book.

The first book was okay, but I did not really feel like going on. I might revisit in the future.

This is an anthology of 3 books and the start of the Hot @nd Nerdy series. I always recommend reading series books in order to gain full understanding and enjoyment to the book. These stories can be read as a standalone novel, as each of them are their own story.

While all 3 books are seriously fun reads, I want to concentrate with you to the first book in the anthology, if you please. This was just a fun and hot story. I found it a quick and easy read.

Layla has a lot to think about and takes a road trip to meet her best friends in Texas, for Spring Break. Her car breaks down in Georgia, and she meets a hot guy in a bar there. He wants to help her after she runs into trouble and needs to stay in town a few days.

Finn is a former gypsy and trying to figure out what he wants in life. He figures at this point, that might as well be the game of pool, and a tournament in Las Vegas. He teaches Layla how to play, and together they do well for themselves.

This ended up a fun and sexy read. The hot times are HOT! The laughter and friendship they share is fun to read also.

Childhood best friends, Layla, Charlie, and Felicity, are going on one last spring break together -- or rather, they're trying. But as you will learn when reading each of their stories, each has a bit of a setback.

All three of these stories were super fun. The bottom line between them all is the great friendship these girls have, and the fear each has that their friendship will dwindle once their 'big girl' jobs start. I found the writing to be very easy to read. It flowed well and the situations were relatable -- well, all except the initial decision to go on this spring break trip. One phone call and Layla was re-routing her trip home and was headed south. The romances were quick -- even the one that bloomed between had-been-friends Jonah and Charlie -- but Ms. Schroeder did end the stories with a little time jump so that certainly helped. And when the insta-love becomes questioned by the characters, even, I appreciated how the author handled everything. Charlie was likely my favorite of the girls, but Lucas was my favorite of the men.

These nerds will make you hot and look at every nerd you see in a totally different way! These three stories are really good and I enjoyed the sweetness with the added heat factor! The women were smart and well written. The three best friends try to have one final spring break together, but they have some roadblocks along the way. Perfect stories to read while you are waiting for an appointment or travelling. They will keep your interest and warm you up on a cold winter day!

Steamy New Adult with the cute hook of 3 geeky female best-friends all finding (or rekindling) love on their disastrous college spring break trip. It hits that New Adult craving by feeling nostalgic but also realistically modern.
