I thought there were a lot of great ideas presented in this story. Western medicine vs homeopathic, life/death experiences and addressing the emotional/mental repercussions of violence. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters, they were all well-rounded and believable. I got to see the evolution of main characters like Aaron and Kenneth. However, Rachel seemed to stay the same, any evolution came right at the end and seemed very sudden, almost rushed and then the story ended. Other than that, it was well paced and always interesting.

The main stumbling block I encountered was the tense changes from past to present throughout the entire book. I found myself correcting them in my mind as I went along, putting them into past tense. When reading a book for pleasure, it deters from the reading experience when you end up doing this.

I believe it was mentioned in another review, the book could have been split up into different stories to focus on specific characters or subjects. There was a lot of good material and I hope the author continues to write.
