This is a dark and twisted erotica story. If you don't like gut wrenching dark stories then I think you should give this a miss. However if your like me and you love a story that contains warnings then get 1-clicking.

Devons had a rough childhood. Her mum was a prostitute. When her mum died her boss expects Devon to take over the job as a prostitute. Devons life then goes from bad to worse. What she goes through is a nightmare and not easy to read. Like her mum there is no way out for her. What happens when she meets Enzo-a detective. She knows it's too dangerous for her to be even found talking to him.

This is a real dark and gritty read containing scenes of rape, torture and molestation.

***3.5 star***

This review may contain spoilers.

The book started off good. Girl gets taken so she can take her moms place as the favorite prostitute let's say. I felt bad for Devon numerous times but that's where I also drew the line. I know what I get myself into when I pick up a dark read but it doesn't mean all I want to read is about the poor victim getting raped constantly. Even in other dark reads theres more to the story. The only time she was ever prostituted was with the Mayor, all the other times after that she was beaten or gang raped. Then she was allowed to go back to a house with her roommates who were not prostitutes but her college peers and never had a clue where she was when she got her "call." Devon also dances at college, praises how much she loves it and how come we didn't even get one scene of her doing so. Once again lack of story.

A little about the Hero. It was insta-love. He's a detective and had to suffer knowing all these things were happening to her. Love had him determined to rescue and fix this girl. Very cute of him. Oh and he speaks Spanish so that earned him some brownie points.

The villains, a bunch of sick fucks who follow the sharing is caring. A man determined to fulfill his sick revengeful/jealousy crap he's got mastered up. Once you learn who they are I'm sure you'll throw up in your mouth like I did.

I still kept praying for this poor defenseless soul. She showed her strengths at times, but really, I don't know how anyone would come back from that.

HEA? Yes there's one and I was so damn happy she got one. If I had to read this and find out she either dies or the hero I would've thrown my kindle out the window for putting myself through that. Also it's my favorite part. Enzo pored his heart out in that epilogue and made him swoonworthy.

Happy Readings!

I am a big fan of dark erotica and dark romance. I have read a wide range of books from many different authors and what I have come to recognize is that there is a fine line between dark and books written purely for shock value. To me this book was all about the shock value. I can handle rape, torture, pain, murder and incest but there needs to be a solid story behind it. I did not connect with the characters in this book. I needed my heroine to have more fight in her. I needed to see more growth. I needed there to be a more plausible reason behind everything she went through. A majority of the book was devoted to her being abused in horrible ways and without that connection, depth and emotion it became one endless rape.

I am never one to tell you not to read a book. You can make that decision on your own. Clearly this book has many fans but I will strongly recommend that you take the authors warning into consideration.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. When I first got this book I knew nothing about it but the more I get into this book the more I understood where it was going. This book however is a very dark read and you should be aware of it before buying it.

In the beginning of this book we meet Devon she is a relatively happy girl. She knows that her mom is a prostitute but feels this does not effect her young life. The next chapter we get to is when Devon is 18 years old her mom has been missing for a few days but she is not worried bout this. The one thing Devon didn't think of what her mom's advice of how she should run if her mom was gone. Devon is taken by two goons over to the bosses place. While there she is told she will now be taking her mother's place. After being told this she is the person the boss makes identify her body. Devon knows she doesn't want to see her mom like this but has no choice.

Three years later Devon is now in college for dance like she wanted. The boss still calls when ever she is called on by one of her clients. She knows she is making a plan to somehow get out of this line of work. During this time she also meets a new detective on the force named Enzo. Enzo wants to get to know Devon better but Devon knows if the boss finds out this could mean bad things for her. Enzo doesn't take no for an answer though, and as more and more bad things happen to Devon he is determined to be her light at the end of the tunnel or her knight in shinning armor. All he wants is the girl in the end.

This book has many dark qualities and if you have a problem with Rape then this is a book you should defiantly avoid it could bring up some bad triggers. I liked the strength of Devon and the devotion that Enzo has for her even though he doesn't know the whole story in the beginning. My favorite character which I think will be yours too is Remy the dog. This story has many twists and turns that I would like to tell you all about but if you do read this story telling you more would ruin it for you. I would recommend it. It is a great story but again I say very dark in nature.

Holy Cow I feel blown away right now. I just finished Warrant by S.L. Schiefer. What Devon goes through is mind boggling. How could anyone be normal after what has happened to her I don't know. And, no I can't tell you about what happened in her life you will have to read Warrant to know. All I know is I couldn't put this book down until I completed it! The good news is there is an HEA at the end of the book

Oh and here is the WARNING, and it is a BIG WARNING! This is a dark erotica/taboo romance. The Author's note about Warrant states. "Warrant is not your typical love story. There are many lines that are crossed in this book. If you're squeamish, or hate taboo of any sort: please don't read this book. My heroine goes through a lot of horrific events." And, man does she go through some horrific events. There are some definite areas of taboo in this book too. So do be careful and choose wisely if you wish to read Warrant.

I was looking for a dark read and although it wasn't the blood I was hoping for the darkness in other places was fantastic.

Devon is forced to take on her mother's role in a prostitution ring, she knows she can't get out of this world so she takes it the best she can that's until she meets Enzo.
Enzo is a police officer who just wants her safe and happy, they start to become so close that is until the point when Devon is kidnapped. To find who is behind this will shock you!
Devin is a amazing characters what she goes through and still stays strong makes a good lead character.
This read was very very detailed and I think it made it a better read.
Some people with a soft heart/ stomach won't be able to handle the detail in this book. But it really makes the story better.
The writing is strong ,, the characters keep there pace and personalities through the story. I'm glad I was offered to read this, I was wanting blood but WARRANT was just as good.
To write a novel like this your tackling a taboo subject but S.L you did a fantastic job.

S.L. Schiefer gives readers a warning at the beginning of this book. I would strongly suggest anyone interested in reading this book to heed that warning. This is a VERY dark book. There are a lot of violent and taboo elements written throughout the story. With that being said, I felt like it was very well written. The heroine goes through hell and back...several times over. However, she never seems to lose herself. She wants out of this life that she's been dealt. She wants better for herself, and she's not going to give up until she gets it. It was this character's perseverance that kept me invested in this story. If you are a big fan of dark reads, then this book is for you.

I give it 3.5 stars, but only because it pushed me beyond some of my limits.

What I liked...

I didn't want to put it down. I was invested in making sure Devon would survive the shit shit shitty hand life dealt her. She was a strong lead who did what she had to in order to survive. It was impossible not to root for her. And yes, shame shame shame on me, I like a dark read more often than I should admit. And the dog. The dog was my second favorite character.

What I didn't like:

First, Enzo, I wanted to like him. He is after all the hero of the story. But he was just so flat. Even though some of the story was told in his POV I just could never feel him. Maybe he was too nice? Too sappy? He was a detective and yet he sat on his thumbs when he knew where she was being held and hurt in horrific ways but because his boss said no, he waited over a week for them to rescue her!! I'm sorry, I don't know cop protocol but I've watched enough SUV to know if there is even a chance they know where to find a victim, it's all hands on deck, they go in guns blazing. It felt like the story was drawn out those two weeks in order to cram as much dark twisted cruelty to happen to Devon as possible. The story started out strong but the more I read, the more it was missing something. Oh, and Devon and Enzo had what, 2 "dates" before she is taken and he wants to marry her? As much as I'm not the biggest fan of serials, I think this story had promise but needed more, something was missing.

There were just too many things with the plot and with the characters that needed more development to maintain believability.

However, I did read it in one sitting... And it is a story that I will remember.

Would I recommend it? If you like dark reads, yes. But I warn you that if you are used to the writings of Pepper Winters, Aleatha Romig, Callie Hart, C.J. Roberts... This isn't up to par although the author has potential.

*Holy effen Wow!!! It has taken me a couple days to write this review. My brain was still in Devonland. That book had my heart pumping and my blood flowing the entire time. I’m still thinking about this book. I went in thinking one thing and man did that change real quick. This was an amazing and well worth the mind f**k. Once I got into the story I was hooked and that didn’t take long maybe a chapter or two. I couldn’t do anything but read. I just couldn’t put it down. When I was forced to set aside my kindle all I could think about was what was going to happen next. I felt so bad for Devon, but I also admired her the entire book. I think I might have fallen for Enzo the moment I met him. SL did an amazing job. This is the first book I have ever read by SL but I’m now a fan.

OMG! There really are no words but I will try. This story was gritty, dark, and cruel. This is not a typical romance story. This is as story of pain, betrayal, and survival. It is heart wrenching and I cried several times. I can't imagine what it took to write this story. There are several twists I didn't see coming that blew my mind. I am still trying to process everything.

ARC review. SPOILERS AHEAD!!

Devon has had a rough life. Her mom is a prostitute and Devon believes she cares nothing about her. She has actually spent all her time trying to protect her, but in the end it isn't enough. After her mother is killed, Devon is forced to take her place. She is treated cruelly by those she works for. Her bright spot comes when she meets and falls for Enzo. He is a detective and vows to help her gain her freedom. He never judges her. He is too late though. She gets taken by her "boss" and is treated worse than she ever thought possible. Can Enzo save her before she breaks?

Warrant had me hooked from the first line! I couldn't put it down, I didn't want to put it down. It's dark, suspenseful and will mess with your head, all around fantastic!

Devon is handed a life that she doesn't deserve, but she takes it in stride vowing to come out on top. time in the book that you don't want to cry for Devon is going through but knowing the person she is and how strong and determined she is to change her life you hold out hope that she will dow everything in her power to overcome her predicament. Despite everything that is thrown at her she does just that, maybe with a little help from a sexy Mexican man named Enzo.

I would and have recommended this book to all of my bookie friends, it's a great read! I can't wait for more dark and suspenseful books from this author! Amazing job!

Warning: please take note that the author does state this is a dark read with explicit content, it's not for the faint at heart and it's definitely not a fluffy romance read.

I LOVED this book! It's officially been moved to my top five favorite books of all time! This book is taboo and the topics it covers are generally triggers for many people - which means, yes! It's a DARK read! But I love this book because S.L Schiefer did an amazing job developing deep characters, showing instead of telling emotion throughout the book, and developing an amazing story line. This story is harsh, gritty, and raw but I love it because it's REAL! This shit happens in real life, we just rarely hear about it. The fact that S.L had the balls big enough to write such a story astonishes me. She did a beautiful job telling such an ugly reality for some people in this world. Bravo to her! I can wait to read what's next!

I loved the first 99% of this book, absolutely loved it! I was surprised that some reviewers commented on the darkness in WARRANT, saying it was provided solely for shock value… I completely disagree! Their claims might hold merit if this was simply a story about rape and torture, but with revenge plots, secrets, and dirty cops, WARRANT is about SO much more than a prostitute being mistreated! As a dark romance/erotica lover, I thought the rape and other dark scenes perfectly complemented the storyline!

Not only did I enjoy the dark attributes of this story, mentally praising this author for stepping over the line multiple times, I loved that it was told from multiple perspectives. As usual, we get to hear the story from the main characters’ perspectives, but we also get the perspective from multiple side characters too.

As I mentioned, I loved the first 99% of this book, but I hated the ending because I was left with unanswered questions. I still don’t even understand what the main revenge plot was all about! There were other editing snafus as well and a TON of proofreading issues. Although the incessant mistakes were distracting and annoying, it didn’t distract from how much I enjoyed this book!!! Or at least the first 99%!!!

*Gifted for an honest review* for Chicks Controlled by Books - 3 at a very push!!

I'm a dark lover, I love all things twisted, taboo and seedy. I can't help it, I like the raw grittiness that comes from a read that stretches those boundaries. Where morals are questioned and lines are crossed. So when an author has a warning at the beginning of the book such as this one has I always get a little tingle, my heartbeat speeds up a little because I know what I'm going to read will undoubtably push my limits. I love that feeling! S L Schiefer's warning is there for a reason, read it and take heed as this book is defintely something else! I was so excited to be able to review this but I came away seriously disappointed.
After reading this I am left feeling all sorts of things that I'm not sure how to put into words. But for sure the need to wash my eyeballs out with bleach has lingered since I finished this book. Two words spring to mind. Disgusted and Angry. Yes, those are two very strong words to describe a work of fiction however, in my opinion, they are warranted in this case. I'll attempt to explain...
First off the writing style is not that bad actually, though it felt a little disjointed in places. It was a struggle to get into, I tried twice before I eventually managed to get a hook on it. I must state here that it was nothing to do with the content. There are numerous inconsistencies throughout the book, namely to do with timelines which often don't really bother me. Here they were extremely obvious and it got on my nerves to no end. It's not hard to sort out your timelines when we are talking days. There's a part where Enzo asks Devon's age. Now not too long before that, being the detective that he is, he had raided her personal details at work. He knows her age right? If the author wanted to show an age gap then that conversation should have been approached differently instead of having a gap in the story like that. It frustrated me as these "little" things were all the way through. The characters....oh lord, I really couldn't get on board with any, be them main or otherwise. Enzo seems like a bit of a creeper, and is shown to be that way sometimes. Also quite a bit of a sap! These are not redeeming qualities in a character, especially the main hero. There's absolutely no reasoning for the kinship between Enzo and Devon bar a few meetings where not an awful lot happens to convince you they belong together. Devon I could take or leave. I just could not get a handle on this girl, I struggled to sympathise with her for some reason. I found the way she ended up being in her situation a trifle ridiculous. And the way it escalated bordered on absolute insanity. It brought into the fray men that were mentally deranged. Sick doesn't do them justice I'm afraid. Character development was a little lacking throughout it's entirety.
Now I coming to the content. Where's the detail? Yes, there's plenty brutality that is described in every which way you want but when I say detail, I mean the stuff that matters. You know when she "wobbles" off the bed after being there for a few days? Well, she would be an absolute mess and certainly in no shape to get down on her knees even with help. There's four days of nothing, this would have been a perfect opportunity to balance the content. In fact there are ample opportunities in here to do this and they are never capitalised on. Instead the reader ends up with a book full of murder, rape, battery and other hellish crap with no real plausible or decent storyline. It was seriously let down by that fact. I don't know what to think about this book, it's literary content is quite poor compared to others that have written this type of book and it seems that the author has just gone for the readers jugular. In terms of shock value it's all there! You name it, you got it. There are so many scenes that are so grotesquelly violent that they make you visibly cringe. You don't get any good feelings from this book, even with the epilogue. There's no satisfaction either in Devon's redemption. It just simply did not work as decent in terms of a book. I am in no way, shape or form put off reading this kind of thing but it needs decent content to back it up in order for it to work.
I really won't recommend this book on the principle that it feels wrong. If the story was solid and there had not been so much of the content being glorified for the sake of it then I would have no problems. It left a very sour taste in my mouth, a taste which only one other book has ever left me with. And I do read some very dark and disturbing books. I can see it being banned if I'm being honest. You need to engage your readers with more than degraded scenes of rape and violence, you need the emotional attachments also, you need the solid storyline. I didn't feel it here, I'm sorry. No hate for the author here but I would be reluctant to read further works. Hats off however for a very brave tale that has been woven, 3 stars at a push.

First of all WOW. When I was told this was a dark erotica, I thought okay I will judge that when I read it. It has taken me nearly two years to review this book = oops, sorry.
The caution is definitely something to read and take note of. I read reviews on goodreads of people saying they were unable to finish this book because of how gut turning it was.

Devon is a 21 year old girl trying to finish college dancing, as stated above dancing is her main passion and it helps her completely release when she has had to go and complete one of her "jobs" set up by her pimp. And she has a attitude on her which she does not hide from any of her "Johns", or pimp.
She appears normal to everyone, 21, attending school and she even lives in a house share with 3 others. No one knows what she does in her free time.
Devon's mum died when Devon was 18, died is too nice of a word, she was murdered by the same group who recruited Devon to carry on the same work her mum did and become a prostitute.
Her one rule is to never have a relationship outside of "work".

Lorenzo Baez is the detective who is awe struck by seeing Devon on her way to college while he is on duty. They have an age gap of 12 years, Devon being 21 and Lorenzo "Enzo" being 33. Even Devon describes him as "tall, dark and handsome".
His story in the book is he will do anything to protect Devon once he finds out her real truth. But he is not only risking his life trying to get her back into normality.
Overall this book was quite short, each chapter was very short including chapters from the point of view of the pimp, Enzo, Devon and a few appearances from people you would not expect.

This story was definitely graphic and not for the faint hearted. I sometimes was reading with my mouth open because of the graphic language, and what was happening to poor Devon in the scenes. If you think you have read enough erotica stories to not struggle reading this then you are WRONG. Nothing prepared me for what I read.

I did not think this book would be for me however I was stuck. I started reading today and read the whole book in a couple hours, I was not able to put it down. Every scene had something happening, whether it be dramatic, or a plot. I just needed to know how a poor 21 year old got out of the industry and away from what her pimp put her through.

I would actually give this book 5 stars because to keep a reader interested this much, considering the story line is amazing.

This book is dark, a little twisted and definitely not for the faint of heart or easily offended. Devon Harper had a hard childhood, her mother was a prostitute but she didn't always know or understand that. The one thing that Devon has always loved is dancing, it helped her get through her childhood. Her mother told her once that if something ever happened to her to run. Devon didn't listen. Right around the time she turned 18 her mother was gone for longer than usually and then they came for her. The same people her mother worked for came for her and told her she was going to be a prostitute also. She hates doing what she does but its not like you can just quit doing it. The only way to stop is to give them your life and Devon doesn't want to die. One day while on her way to the dance studio she is arguing with her pimps main girl and guy comes up and asks if everything is okay. He is a detective, which automatically makes him off limits. It’s not like she is allowed to have relationships either way but trying to have one with a cop it totally out of the question. The detective's name is Enzo and Devon has totally gotten under his skin. He isn't sure what it is about her but he can't get her out of his head. A week or so later and he runs into her leaving a football game and asks her out. She tells him he doesn't want to go out with someone like her. Being the detective that he is he finds her and asks her out again. When he gets to her place he finds that someone has hurt her. He is going to find out what is going on with her and help her. Devon knows if anyone finds out that she is even talking to a cop she will be in trouble and that's exactly what happens. She knows she needs to get out now and believes that Enzo could be that one to help her and maybe be part of her future too. Will Enzo be able to help Devon? What will the people she works for do if they find out she is trying to get out?
This story was hard to read at times. The things Devon goes through are not for the squeamish. There are lots of lines crossed in this book and that's what makes it so great. The book involves prostitution, rape, violence, and molestation. No one ever really talks about it but the things that happen in this book happen in real life. It's not pretty or your everyday romance but this story does have a romance in it and a happy ending. Enzo is fantastic. He is attracted to this girl and when most people would run the other way it makes him want her more. Devon hard a difficult childhood, most of it spent raising herself. Dance was all she had. Whenever she needs to escape she dances that hasn't changed since she was forced into prostitution. She has always known that she needed to find a way out of the life she leads but after meeting Enzo she wants to it now. The things that are revealed in the book are hard to read at times, but the book was written so well. It wasn't over the top or vulgar in any way, at least not me. The strength that Devon has is amazing despite everything she goes through she isn't hard and she hasn't let it beat her down and break her. I really liked this story. I will be looking for more books by S.L. Scheifer, she is now on my author watch list.

Original Blog Post: Blog Tour, eARC Review: Warrant by S.L. Schiefer

When I read that Warrant was dark erotica, I never expected that S.L. Schiefer would come up with a story as disturbing as this! This novel is as out there as can be, with hardly anything in it considered as acceptable in normal society. The only reason I am reviewing it, however, is while there may be people that find it disturbing, to say the least, all this and more happens to people working in the sex industry and worse to those caught in white slavery. If there is just one person that acknowledges that fact after reading this book, then it's done its job.

Nicely put, Devon Harper is a prostitute. The reality is, she's little better than a sex slave since she gets to go to a dance academy, has a reasonable control on her time, and lives with friends. But the Boss calls the shots and she has to listen, or she'll end up as her mother did, tortured and dead. That memory is the only thing keeping her in line.

She's controllable until she meets Enzo. There is an attraction between them but two things serve to keep them apart. One, she's not allowed to have a boyfriend. Two, he's a police detective. Both should be reason enough for her to stay far away from him. However, he treats her like a human being, something she's never gotten from a man her whole life.

That awakens a desire in her to escape the hell she is in. The only thing she never counted on is that the Boss has a boss of his own, someone that's been keeping watch on her since she was born, waiting for the perfect time to erase her from earth. Enzo may not be enough to keep her sane, let alone alive.

A lot of Devon's story would be considered gross, enough to make even an open-minded person squirm in discomfort. There's stuff in here that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Her spirit, though, is so strong that she can overcome just about anything. At least that's what the reader should be hoping when torture and abuse are heaped on her that should last more than a lifetime - and she's only twenty-one. It's a game of wits, simply put, between Devon and the big Boss. The one that blinks first in this contest of deception loses, although for Devon that means her life.

Warrant Teaser 2
Enzo, while seemingly weak, is simply caught in the mess that is Devon's reality. His patience is tested, as well as his faith in the law and the justice system. His hands are tied as a lawman and he refuses to risk her life to go vigilante. It's frustrating for him and that feeling is palpable throughout the pages. There were times I wish I could fast forward what he's going through but that's exactly how life is.

I do have to put out this warning: the cover so does not reflect the story. Yes, it's Enzo that's depicted but S.L. Schiefer's warning should be heeded on Warrant pushing the boundaries of good taste and acceptability. Don't go in thinking it's BDSM, because it is not. It's about 90% taboo, and nothing is prettified. Proceed at your own risk because the story sticks with you and isn't easily forgotten.

I received this ARC for an honest review and. Um, wow, um! Ok have you ever gone into a book after reading the warning at the beginning that says this is a dark read, gives you things that are in the book and warns you that if this is something you can't handle, please don't read this book? And you think, "Oh, it can't be as bad as this one dark book I read a while ago". Well I'm telling you I sat on the edge of my chair, holding my head, pulling at my hair, screaming at my kindle, choking on tears, gagging on words I was reading thinking " there really cannot be people out there THIS SICK.?", can there? I was to a point where I didn't think I could finish this book, couldn't take reading any more of Devon's torcher, needed to get the visual of reading out of my mind. But I had to know if Devon gets out of this horrible, which isn't even close to what has happened to this poor girl, don't think there is even a word that would describe what she has been through, situation she has been forced into.

When Enzo came into the picture, boy was I hoping he would be her "saving grace". I mean, a new cop in the town, not privied to the things that have been going on in this town and to Devon. But Devon knows what happens to people she gets close with and it's nothing good.so she pushes his kindness away, until something happens that she just can't let go. Will turning to Enzo get them both killed? Possibly.

This book is an on the edge of your seat, can't believe this is happening omg, I just want to jump in the book to kick someone's ass( more like blow someone's privates off) read. If you cannot handle reading about well, here is what the author puts at the beginning of the book:

Note from the Author Warrant is not your typical love story. There are many lines that are crossed in this book. If you’re squeamish, or hate taboo of any sort: please don’t read this book. My heroine goes through a lot of horrific events. This book is about a prostitute. REMEMBER THAT. Not everything that happens in real life is pretty, and not every story is pretty. I wanted to tell a story that crossed those lines and make you see something from a different light. I’m very well aware that you all might hate me or curse me while reading … that’s okay. Read at your own risk. This is a dark erotica/taboo romance. Love, S.L. Schiefer. If you have trouble with reading about rape, you may not want to read this book!!!

I really enjoyed the writing, not so much the events that take place in the story, but it is written very well and unfortunately sometimes too detailed for those like me who visualize everything while they read a book. I still can't wrap my head around most of what Devon had to go through eve an hour after reading this book.

I received an ARC of Warrant in exchange for an honest review. Before you decide to read this amazing story, I want you to read the note from the Author. That's your time to decide if this book is for you or not. It's certainly not for the weak.

Holy of all Holiness. I am speechless. I was bawling my eyes out the entire time. Powerful, Powerful, Powerful read. Completely breaks my heart knowing people go through this torture on a daily basis. This is REAL, it's not Fiction. I am so happy that Schiefer has put this subject out there. Let alone given those women a voice.

I myself have been through my own personal kind of hell, so of course this was pretty tough for me to read, but at the same time it gave me hope. No matter what you go through in life you can't be broken. Broken is what they want you.

Devon knows something is wrong. Her mom hasn't come home, and she knows exactly what they must mean. Years ago her mother made her promise her if anything ever happened she would run. Well.. she should of listened. Devon is brought to a man, who made her become a prostitute. 3 years later she is in college, but on the weekends she has her set clients. So during the week can she try to be some what normal. Her dream is to become a dancer. It's what she loves, and she is beyond great at it. One day on the way to the studio she runs into Enzo. Enzo is a detective.

Enzo is drawn to Devon immediately. She just doesn't want anything to do with him. Or so she says. It's not like in her line of work she can just up and date a detective. She doesn't have a death wish. Although one night something horrible happens, and Devon is desperate to tell her secret. So she tells Enzo. Everything....

Enzo is a super man and wants to do everything in his power to save this woman. The woman he is falling for. Secretly they see each other. Then one day everything changes. She's in hell. She finds out the truth and in return is in hell.

It's seriously so damn powerful. It's been almost 2 weeks since I've read the book and it's still stuck with me. I don't know any other way to explain it. So far this is my TOP read of 2015. Yes, the year has just started, BUT this book I have a feeling will still be the top come the end of the year.

If you haven't already, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Warrant. Read Devon's story. Read about her strength, her courage, and meet her demons. You won't be disappointed.

I rate Warrant 5+ amazing stars.

I thought the book was very well written. The characters were very well developed and the story flowed well. Granted it wasn't always easy to read some of the scenes but there was also a warning at the start of the book so anyone that continued to read past that point, you have no one to blame but yourself. No this wasn't your fairy tale romance and all the fluff that goes with it but the author did a great job keeping things real and showing us that for as much good that goes on in this big world, there is twice as much dark, evil things taking place too.

I think the biggest thing that I really got from this story is that no matter people did and no matter how many times that Devon was put down, kicked around and humiliated, she kept getting back up and she did what she had to do to survive. Your average "princess" would never have survived what Devon was made to endure. Most would have found a way to commit suicide or they would have checked out mentally. But not Devon, she stayed strong and she never gave up on what her and Enzo felt for each other. And as hard as it was for Enzo to imagine what Devon was enduring, he kept his legal wits about him, with the help of his Captain and the undercover agent. as much as he wanted to storm in and be her knight in shining armor he knew he would never succeed unless he let things play out like they had planned. But the main thing is that even once Enzo actually found out everything that Devon went through, it only made him love her all the more.

Yes this story is DARK! And anyone that intends to read read this story really NEEDS to heed the warning at the beginning of the story! If you don't like very dark reads, that crosses lines that are very unsavory such as forced sexual acts, rape, abuse, prostitution. Then my suggestion is do NOT read this story. If you purchase the book and have second thoughts when you see the authors warning, stop reading and get your money back. If you decide to read on, then get pissed off at how they story is so awful and violent and detailed and then get your money back, I personally think your stealing. The author has warned you, the other readers such as myself, have warned you. This is not a book for the faint of heart, but in my opinion after reading it, I feel it is a true love story. Devon and Enzo have a very special love that cannot be broken. Great writing on S.L. Schiefer's part!

This book starts off with a note from the author warning the reader that Warrant is not your typical love story. Many lines are crossed and the main character goes through some pretty tough stuff. The author also states that the reader should proceed at their own risk - that this book is a dark erotica/taboo romance.

Well in my opinion, this should have been stated in the synopsis - maybe a warning of some sort. That way a potential reader knows what they are getting into BEFORE they plop down the money to purchase the book. Nowhere in the synopsis does it state that there will be multiple violent and brutal rape scenes. I have read A LOT of dark romances and most of what was in this story did not shock me, but for the unknowing, this book will be disturbing to say the least.

Also, I really don't think this book should be considered a dark erotica/taboo romance. Not one scene in my opinion was erotic, and the last time I checked, rape was not considered taboo romance. Rape is rape. Let's not make it sound pretty or exotic. Yes, it was dark - very dark, but the erotic romance factor just wasn't there, just a shock factor.

The main characters in this book are Devon and Enzo. I really liked Devon. Despite her crappy life, she never backed down and was always looking for a way out. My heart broke for her and the way she was treated. Really the only reason I continued reading this story was to see how her situation would play out. I really think that Enzo's character fell flat. I liked him a lot, but I don't feel as though he was in the spotlight much. Yes, his characters is very important to the story, I just wish there was more of him.

This story will make you angry, sad and downright frustrated because you know that the harsh and brutal acts in this book are happening to someone every day. It makes me sick just thinking about it. This was one book that I purchased purely based on the cover and the synopsis and really had high hopes that it would be a really awesome read, but sadly I think the overall storyline failed due to the over abundance of rape scenes and the lack of true erotic romance I really wanted to see between Devon and Enzo.

We have all seen it before – Author guidelines and warnings at the beginning of a book or plastered all over the blurb – well if you are anything like me you probably dive straight in with little regards for the warning thinking – what’s the worst that can happen?
WELL, I can assure you that I won’t be doing it again!!
S.L. Schiefer clearly gives a warning at the beginning of this book and it is not just to take up space!! This is a very dark read and will not be everyone’s cup of tea so PLEASE take heed, this book will push your boundaries and some may find some aspects of the content upsetting but remember it is only a book and you can put it down if you don’t like it. Don’t read it and then moan about what you have just finished!!
Well on to the book itself, this is as far from any normal depiction of a romance as you could possibly get, it reduced me to tears on more than one occasion but it is absorbing, dark – yes and unbelievably cruel at times but it gave a great portrayal of what it takes to get through the painful experiences that life can throw at you and to come out the other side not only as a survivor but with a plan and determination.
Devon was a gutsy character, her younger years were with her mother, watching her turn tricks for a living, believing that she only cared for herself when nothing could have been further from the truth, but when the inevitable happens and her mother is killed, she is left under no illusion that she is expected to fill her mother’s shoes.
Life is hell and shows little sign of improvement until she meets Enzo. I liked Enzo, he was full of great ideas but he just needed to be quicker off the mark because before he had a chance to get her away from the situation, she is whisked away by her boss into what can only be described as hell.
But Enzo is not one to walk away easily but the question is not about him it is whether or not he can find and save Devon before she runs out of options.
As tough as this was to read it had hope. The ploy had plenty of twists and turns and the characters were more than able to hold my attention, too much in some respects.
A dark and gritty storyline which flickered with love and humour and opportunity. Fabulous story if you have the wherewithal to see it through to the end.
Not for the fainthearted but finishing it is rewarding.

My review is going to be a work in progress due to not being finished with the book. This is what I can say for now...this book has it all...mystery, sex, a HOT ALPHA male, and a strong woman. From the untimely death of her mother, Devon is forced into a life of prostitution to fulfill a debt owed by her mother to the Boss. Throughout Devon's life, she has always thought her mother loved the lifestyle more than she loved her. Little did she know, it was really just the opposite. Her mother remained in the business to keep her out of it. Did this work? Of course not. Now Devon has to fight and find a way out of it. During this fight, she unexpectedly meets a cop, who happens to not be on the Boss' payroll, named Enzo. He is determined to befriend her and become her confidant, her protector, her more. Does she let him in? Honestly, I don't know because I haven't finished the book. My opinion is that she should. I know she is just trying to protect him, but doesn't she deserve that same protection? Anyway...stay tuned for part 2 of my review...the finished product.

Be sure to grab this one...you won't be disappointed.

PART 2...OMG...I finished the book and it is suspenseful, mysterious, and so TABOO!!! Seriously, heed the warnings on this book...it is definitely dark! Devon is an extremely strong heroine who doesn't break throughout all the trauma she has endured her entire life. Enzo, a man who doesn't take "NO" for an answer, is not only strong, but devoted to Devon even though he knows what she is going through at her "Father's" house. I found myself holding my breath through many scenes, only breathing after I knew Devon survived yet another traumatic visit from her father and step-brother, as well as her pimp the Boss, aka Brian.

This book will not only make you hold your breath but it will hold your attention. It pulls you in from the beginning and will carry you until the end. The author continually throws you curve balls so you never know what is about to hit you next. I definitely loved this book...the mystery, the suspense, and the taboo nature (hopefully that doesn't make me crazy). I hope to see more books by this author...more sex from Devon and Enzo would be nice too. Anyhow...great book, seamless writing and transitions that offer multiple POV's. Not to be missed out on!

I gave this book 3.25 stars.

This was a hard book to review ... I liked most of it. I was really freaking into it. I even found the author and sent her messages about how much I was into the book. There is mystery, intrigue, lust, sex, and dark erotica that makes you question the morals of the world. And then there is this romance between Devon and Enzo that causes you to have hope for a great ending for her. It was an instant connection but I like the way the author explained it. It was ok and I loved where it was going. I was DYING to find out who this mysterious bad person was. I was DYING to know the story behind it all. I was DYING to see Devon and Enzo come together. I knew it would be beautiful.

Then Devon is put in bad situations ... which is where the really, really dark erotica comes in. Then the story starts to fall apart. Which was so sad ... because it was so unbelievably good. Set up to be an amazing thriller and suspense. The problem with some dark erotica is that it starts to let things happen that are there for shock factor. The STORY begins to crumble because it loses realism. There are ways to write dark erotica and keep it realistic. At about 65% this book began to become a book based on shock. I don't think I would have been so upset if my imagination had not gone nuts with the possibilities in the first part of the story.

The ending was the worst.

*****SPOILER*******

I can't write this without explaining the end with some spoilers. But I will try not to ruin it. WHY did Devon's rescue have to wait until the very end ... That is the most unrealistic thing EVER! Cops: We are going to wait until the last minute to save her .... LITERALLY THE LAST MINUTE!!! And what are they doing?? ... sitting outside waiting their turn?? ... because I wouldn't be surprised at that point. It was frustrating because I had such high hopes.

********END SPOILER******

I'm not saying don't read this book. Just prepare yourself. There were some enjoyable parts. ESPECIALLY in the beginning. SOOO good!! The ending was just a let down and the story line crumbled. Not enough real answers were given. It didn't add up and make sense. I would recommend to not knock it until you try it!! Enjoy!!

I like the premise of this story, and it intrigued me. Yes, some of the scenes were difficult to read. I really wanted to like this story, however, I found myself frequently sighing at some of the shifts in the plot and it felt that it did not flow for me in an emotional way. I found the characters to be devoid of emotion which made the selling of story harder to believe. The character who demonstrated the most emotion was Enzo and I couldn’t quite believe that he could accept as much as did about Devon and what was happening to her.

Spoilers:

I didn’t get why Brian (her father) was so hell bent on doing this to Devon – because she was born? Because her mother had her in the first place? Didn’t her mother pay a high enough price? Wasn’t it enough that Devon was being ‘blackmailed” into prostitution? Again, I questioned the motivation of Brian it just seemed to be lacking.
There were alot of plot holes (no pun intended) that I hoped to be resolved but were just left hanging. For example, at one point Devon steals a gun and hides it but never uses it to protect herself – nor does anyone use it. So what was the point of that?
And why did the rescue take so long? Didn’t the authorities have enough on them after a few days of kidnapper and using her? Why did they not go after her in a few days rather than two weeks?
The timing of the raid – just when Enzo was (well, you know) was just a bit too convenient. Did the authorities really have to wait until she was gang raped (again)?
What was the point of the dog? During the finale and scuffle, the undercover agent – Evan runs from the room to grab (a gun?) no he gets the dog! Given that a dog will not protect Devon especially with men with guns, I didn’t get that at all.
In end the story had a HEA, but again, no enough answers such as what her dancing career? Did she just give it up? How do they make a living?
I was looking for a story of angst and emotion; unfortunately this one did not do it for me.

This is a really dark novel and I definitely advise readers to steer clear if they are even the slightest bit sensitive to sexual abuse. Generally, I'm not one to frown upon content that is thrown at me but I have to admit, this book was on the edge for me.
Not due to the violent and sexual content but due to the morality of the situation.
I am thoroughly torn with what to say about this one. On one hand I enjoyed it. I read it in one sitting and was invested in reading to the end, finding out about the who, what, where and whys. Some of the characters I really took too, some parts of the story had me really hooked.
On the other hand, I kind of felt a bit let down. There is so much potential in this author's work It's like that word sitting on the tip of your tongue, the one that will make all your mates think you've been studying a dictionary but it just won't come, so you go for the easy, less showy option instead.
I was quite uncomfortable with the Devon/Preston/Brian situation. That made my skin crawl a bit too much. Enzo fell a little flat for me. He seemed to have no backbone, agreed with things too easily, didn't kick up enough fuss. If the love of my life was being held and raped and I knew where, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be at home redecorating and dusting my bedroom.
The dog...I get it. Protecting their owners is what they do best but I'm confused as to why they would think he'd be of any help in this type of situation?! Surely they knew guns would be involved?
And what happened to all of Devon's friends?
And how did that thing happen to Matt if it still happened to Devon too?!

I did enjoy this book but I've been left with too many puzzling questions to feel like I'm done with the story.

Warrant by S.l Shiefer

First, to get it out of the way, pay attention to all the warnings about the subject matter, and triggers, because the author gives you a heads up on purpose, if any of the topics warned about are triggers for you, it's probably not the book for you.

I loved this book, and here's why, in the end, and even throughout, I felt it was more a story of survival, strength and healing.

It was heart wrenching, and terrifying to read everything that Devon went through. It was about love being able to help Devon and Enzo survive through all of the life circumstances they went through, and still be able to be there for each other, and even for Devon to count on Enzo when all the other men that had been in her life had let her down or hurt her. Yes, I understand that this seems counter to the bulk of the story, but they survived what seemed insurmountable odds and fought hard to survive and find their way back to each other. The inner strength that it took for them, and even Matt, to pull from to get to the end spoke to their determination to have something better.

The story might seem to be so dark that it may seem unrealistic to some, but I think that somewhere there are people who have really gone through ordeals as terrifying as these or worse. So, it is far from your typical romance, and far from your typical HEA, but if you can read a dark story like this, you probably can also see the survival and healing that come from it as well.

I was honored when, after being in contact with S.L. Schiefer on her Facebook page that I was able to review this book. I will give fair warning to everyone though. This book deals with a lot of dark subjects, including rape, prostitution, murder and the like. Though it is dark subjects, the attention to detail by Schiefer was amazingly well done.

Devon, on the outside, appears to be a normal college girl but she really is dragged into a world that is utterly unspeakable though happens in everyday life. Then Enzo appears and she feels as though she has a chance at a normal real life again. Their relationship is anything but normal but Enzo fights for his girl and makes him an epic hero.

Even though this book has its dark subjects, what I loved about it was the fact that its brought to the forefront by Schiefer because these things do occur still even though its not a subject broached much. The attention to detail is bar none and yes though it left me squeamish at times, it also left me wanting more. I am not one to give spoilers in reviews though I will give you that this book ends on a happy note.

These types of books are not my typical read however I fully would recommend this to anyone who likes a romance book but is based with crime/mystery. Schiefer’s writing flows amazingly across the page and I cannot get past the attention to detail that is in this book. It leaves you begging for more. I honestly did not want this book to end. I wanted more.
