Enthralling
Enthralling read.full of tension, intrigue and passion. One of the best carole Mortimer I have read. Have read all the other alpha series, this was the best.

Dair Grayston runs a worldwide security company ( btw I love this man ) , with his military background he's the perfect choice when Gregori Markovic ( can you just imagine such a hot name but such a bastard of a character anyway's back to the story shall we) , Gregori is boss of a London criminal underworld and needs someone to find his sister, possibly even rescue her from certain death.
Of course this is a straight forward mission for such a bad ass military trained security expert such as Dair and he's all game, except for one little problem, his target is Kat, the once 15 year old beauty who had captured his attention and mesmerized his soul. Kat is now of course all grown up and her beauty not only manages to knock Dair's socks off but shows him a whole new side of the young girl he once knew.
Kat knows she needs rescuing but she's not so sure she needs to be rescued by the hardened and scarred warrior Dair has become, but of course Dair is determined and there is no changing his mind. Whilst running from Kat's ex-husband Dair and Kat find it incredibly hard to resist each other and the more shots fly the more sparks build.
The only downfall of the entire hot hero rescues damsel in distress heroine , guns blazing, bombs popping all over the place , fall in love with each other scenario, neither Dair or Kat does forever so this is going nowhere fast, well except straight into the bedroom where the flames of sexual tension goes up in smoke. But will they make it out alive and will Kat's ex hunt them down and watch them go up in flames of a whole other kind?
This book was HOT! From the seriously oh my gosh want hero ( yes I am addicted to hot military men) to the awesome kick ass heroine, it's not every day I find a heroine that hit's the perfect " I would love to be as bad-ass as this chick" notes like Kat did.
The action level in this read was absolutely off the charts brilliant, on the edge of my seat does not really describe any of the angst I was feeling during this read.
It was more like I needed to get up and shoot something or hit someone, the action was seriously intense. I only know of two other authors who are able to bring that level of action, suspense and kick-ass wonder to romantic suspense reads, so Carole Mortimer you have officially taken a spot on my MUST READ ROMANTIC SUSPENSE AUTHOR'S list, and for those who know me well enough will know that a spot on that particular list of mine is not easily achieved.
I should be telling you a whole lot more about this book , but my darling reader friends if I do just that I will completely ruin a book that is a must read, so all I will say is " Go get this book, trust me this is a keeper!"

Enjoyable Sexy Quick Read
"Dair could only hope, for everyone's sake, that no harm had come to this man's sister. Sweet little Katya."
THE STORY: Dair Grayson is connected to one of the underworld families in London. He has spent over a decade trying to build a life away from that life. When he is asked by the head of the Markovic underworld family to help find out what is going on with Katya Markovic Orlov who married into another underworld family as part of an arranged marriage orchestrated by their father. Dair remembers a sweet innocent Katya from when she was fifteen and he was eighteen. Those memories of that sweet girl get him to agree to find out what is happening. When Dair discovers Katya he finds out that her husband has had her placed at a private clinic where she is essentially a prisoner. When he rescues her, the two take off on a world adventure hiding from the forces of her husband's family.
OPINION: I liked much about this book. The relationship between Kat and Dair is hot and spicy. Kat is no shrinking violet despite her history. She is strong and I loved how she and Dair fight and argue and how that quickly turns into sexual heat. Dair is heroic and yet has a dark past. I liked that they have a great connection and I really did believe that they had chemistry between them. This is a shorter book and thus does not have the great development in story and characters that a longer novel would. That being said, I did enjoy these characters and will continue reading the series.
WORTH MENTIONING: My biggest complaint about this book is that for a woman who was terrorized by her husband and lost a child only two months ago, she quickly turned to a new relationship with Dair. Perhaps too quickly for me.
FINAL DECISION: I enjoyed this book as a quick uncomplicated read. Will it be one I want to read again and again? No. But I enjoyed it while I was reading the story.
CONNECTED BOOKS: SHADOW ALPHA is the third book in the ALPHA series. There is not necessary to have read any of the prior books in the series. Although characters from Book 2, DARK ALPHA, are mentioned briefly, they make no appearance.

Quiet and steady
Sometimes one says more by saying nothing. That played out multiple times throughout this wonderful story with all the feels. Overall quality of writing was really good. Well rounded characters and storyline with no cheating or cliffhanger. There's some steamy intimacy scenes and a very happy ever after. Enjoy 🤓

Kat has given up hope of being rescued from the hell in which she’s been incarcerated for weeks. The arrival of Dair Grayson changes all that. I know they are advertised as such but I would appreciate a little more character/plot and less sex (even if well written).

CM used to write fabulous, angst filled romances for Mills and Boon; with the emphasis on Romance. I didn’t always like her heroes or heroines but generally I could rely on well written, engaging and emotionally satisfying stories.
Now, her stories are repetitive and the sex scenes are boring as well as being almost identical. The hero indulges his heroine and himself in numerous bouts of oral sex where he drinks down near ‘creamy juices’ and makes her come half a dozen times before finally sinking his ‘shaft’ or his ‘cock’ deep inside her and ‘to the hilt’. If he’s not doing that, he’s smacking her bare bottom because of course every woman just loves that kind of treatment!
I don’t mind any of the things that happen - only the fact they are repeated in every book. So boring whereas as well written sex scenes are definitely not!
I’m also fed up of crime and violence being glamourised.

Great storyline and strong characters.
Kept my interest and wanted to keeping reading until the end. Lots of red hot loving too. Puts Fifty Shades to shame.
