Stoic werewolf enforcer meets gentle druid woman. Can these mates conquer their differences with love? A druid, carefree and loving. A wolf shifter, hardened but patient.
Melanie is an extrovert, loving and kind, but tough and outspoken when necessary. Ian is an introvert, all he wants is to claim his mate and keep her safe. Grunting more than one syllable words annoys him, but opening up to his mate becomes easier as he gets to know her. Well, somewhat easier.
Ian is the head enforcer for his pack. Something is pulling at him until he hits the road, looking for his mate. He finds Melanie, a free spirit hitchhiking in New Mexico. Once he gets her to his home in East Texas, he has to protect her from a wizard who wants her for her magical abilities.
Melanie couldn't wait to explore this feeling that led her to take to the highway. Finding Ian was more than she could have hoped for. The difficult part would be telling him of her family's legacy and the job she was entrusted with.
Wolf Creek town is amazing. I love everything in this book. Every book is diferente, I love seeing other characters from previous books here too. Can’t wait for the next book.
I liked Ian’s book. He’s more rough and tough than his brother Rafe but he’s just as lovable. Knowing that his mate was out there Ian goes looking for her but isn’t quite expecting the spitfire of a woman that fate has intended for him.
(3 1/2 stars) Melanie is a free-spirited druid who is drawn by the magic to hitchhike just as Ian, enforcer of the Wolf Creek pack, is passing, thereby ensuring their mate bond. Unfortunately, an evil wizard has plans for Melanie’s druidic time travel abilities and the Wolf Creek pack have a battle on their hands to reclaim her. I enjoyed Melanie and Ian’s stubborn banter, she managed to call him a different dog name every time she called her ‘babe’. I thought the story had more oomph than the first book and the danger seemed more menacing. My main reservation with this romance series is that each pairing is total instalove due to the mate bond - there’s no build up and no exploration of feelings, the chemistry happens in seconds and it just doesn’t feel real. Audio narrator Jonathan Waters injected fun into the banter, he made the enjoyable parts enjoyable.
Believe it or not, even though this was the Enforcer of the pack, (Ian’s story) it was so much fun. Melanie is a tiny bundle of positivity. She’s a wonderful contrast to the big bad enforcer wolf who’s always so serious and on duty. The banter between them was so funny. The entire cast of characters are fantastic and so much fun to hang out with. Strong women, hot naked men? Yep great story, in fact my favorite in the series so far. The narration was absolutely fantastic. Jonathan Waters really knows how to perform all of these characters with different accents so well that I feel totally submerged into the story. This is book 2 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend this book/series.
I had purchased a "pack" (heh) of the first 3 books. If I had not purchased the pack, I wouldn't have continued past book one. The writing was very choppy and self-explanatory. I skimmed the first one due to the writing, and thought I would do the same w/book 2 & 3 since I had them.
Pleasantly surprised that in these next two books she was beginning to find her voice, as they were starting to flow. Still has a way to go with typos and such, but I have no doubt if she went back and wrote book one again, it would be much improved. I won't continue with this series, but glad to see the growth in storytelling.
My favorite of the series so far. I really like the interplay between characters and the addition of new magical creatures/possibilities to the existing story line. I also really enjoyed the main love interests in this one and their verbal play. I do still wish to see more development in the characters and more connecting before... well connecting 😉 😆 I do love a good instalove story but these are rather extreme.
This was a enjoyable story and I enjoy this Oacks interactions as live goes on. Melody is such a cool free spirited individual and I look forward to more from here, hopefully. The Narrator did a good job with the characters voices and the entire storyline. I am starting book 3 after posting this Review.
Ian and Melanie were both pulled together by fate. Ian had to leave and follow a pull that led him to Melanie who was hitching and waiting for something good to come into her life.
This book reads smoother than the first in the series. She still has grammatical errors, their for they're and the like. A good proof-read would fix that. The characters are great, I love the storyline.
What do you get when the Introvert meets the Extrovert?
You get a really good book 2 in the Wolf Creek series. When Ian, the handsome, stoic, protective alpha wolf shifter introvert meets Melanie a kind, loving, tough and when necessary outspoken extrovert you get a enjoyable contemporary paranormal Romance. I truly enjoyed book two with all of its twists and turns which expands on book one. However, I really enjoyed the humorous overtones and undertones of the storyline. these two characters mature and develop and learn to respect and love each other finding the compromise between their two different personality types. The narrator, Jonathan Waters, does it again in providing a really enjoyable vocal performance. if you've enjoyed book one book two is just as good.
Jonathan does a fantastic job with the narration of this book. His female voice is fantastic. I was laughing out loud with the humour written into this storyline.
I enjoyed this more than the first book which was setting the scene for the whole series. Ian is the head enforcer for his brother's pack. He's an ex marine having served tours in Iraq and tends to be the strong silent type. The book starts with him feeling restless and a need to hit the open road. He discusses this with Rafe who agrees with him taking a road trip until he's found what is 'missing'. He has no destination in mind and lets his gut tell him which way to go.
Melanie is a magical being and her 'power' is a closely guarded secret. She also has the same calling to hit the road. Without knowing what she's looking for she decides to walk rather than drive and three days into her journey, she chances upon Braeden..... a wizard full of dark magic. After managing to evade him and his little henchman Krew, Melanie takes to the road again and Ian quickly finds her.
Back home, Melanie meets the family and her and Devlin hit it off immediately. Too soon though, she gets her next calling and her brother David arrives so they can take on the job together. Because of his possessiveness, Ian dictates that he will accompany Melanie on all her future 'jobs' and it's decided that Devlin with ride along as well to partner up with David. When the job starts, they all find themselves facing a very dangerous enemy.
We meet friends of Melanie which she also considers to be her surrogate family and we learn exactly what she and David are. Robert and Melissa from book 1 make an appearance and they all get to meet the Faerie Queen. I felt the storyline in the book was more entertaining as was the banter between Melanie and Ian. It's definitely worth the extra star I gave it.
Ian is the Wolf Creek Pack's Enforcer. His brother is Alpha and recently found his mate. She is a witch and per the custom of their pack, she was turned into a werewolf as part of their mating ceremony. Ian has been nervous and crawling out of his skin. Lisa convinces him to let her into his mind and try to "see" what his problem is. They both see a woman on the side of the road and behind her many roads to possibly take. Ian packs a bag and takes off in an effort to find the woman who could be his mate. Melanie felt the pull to walk, not ride from Albuquerque. She just knows her destiny is ahead. When they meet he is angry because she has been walking alone on lonely roads. They both recognize that fate has drawn them together. She sees auras and knows he is a werewolf. Ian doesn't want to move to fast with her. His kind mate for very long lives. Melanie is a Druid. She and her family are Travellers. They feel pulled through time to rescue people who find themselves in the wrong time. When Ian finds out he makes it clear she only travels with him from now on. She is thrilled. Her parents always travelled together and now she and Ian will travel together. Melanie and her brother David both feel the same pull. Ian's younger brother is interested in getting in on this time travelling. A wizard has captured Robert, a Fae Guard that the Pack has known for a long time. They rescue Robert and the Wizard takes Melanie. The search is on for the Wizard's lair. Why does he want Melanie? How can they fight a black wizard? Can Lisa's magic counteract his? Can Ian keep himself together long enough to rescue his mate? Male wolves go nuts when separated from their mates and especially knowing they are in trouble.
This is my first time reading Jo Ellen but after finishing Wolf Creek Enforcer I can honestly say it will not be my last. While this is the second story in the Texas Pack series, I did not find it necessary to read the first story to understand what was happening. I think I would have appreciated some of the nuances if I had read book one but I enjoyed Ian and Melanie’s story just fine. When they say opposites attract, Ms. Ellen decided to put that to the test with these two. Melanie was a go with the flow kinda gal and Ian was so not. He liked order and rules and Melanie kept him on his toes. Finding out that she had a calling that put her in danger, stressed poor Ian to the max but I loved that Ms. Ellen allowed their relationship time to grow so that Ian while not comfortable was at least accepting. I adored the relationship Ian had with his brothers. The closeness between them wasn’t just because they were pack mates. They respected each other and loved each other and Ms. Ellen saw no reason to hide that fact. I loved that upon meeting Melanie, she was afforded that same love and respect just because she made Ian happy. It didn’t hurt that she lightened him up and allowed us to see his wicked sense of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting this Texas pack and am looking forward to seeing who is next to have their happily ever after.
Ian is the pack enforcer and has an urge to drive. so drive he does. Melanie has an urge to walk, and the two cross paths. both are fully aware of who the other is, their mate.
Melanie has magic. Druid magic and she uses it to time travel! this story got real interesting at this point, cos it's not something I have come across, in a shifter story anyway!
the book deals nicely with the time travel tale, the magic involved, and lots and lots of dog references! every time Ian calls Melanie, babe, she retorts with a dog name. made me chuckle and laugh out loud. it also introduces us to Melanie's brother, David, and we get more from Ian and Rafe's younger brother, Devlin. either one of these could be in the next book!
now, I did say after the first book, that I wouldn't be reading anymore, but. . . . I'm so glad I caved in!
This was a creative shifter romance. They're usually so predictable, but I liked the plot, variation, and characters here. In the first book, she introduced the setting and the three brothers. The oldest gets hitched to a witch in the first, and here we have another brother encounter a woman with powers. In both this book and the last, the it is the women who bring their enemies to the pack. Having said that, this author has absolutely no clue regarding apostrophes and commas. Homonyms trip her up sometimes as well. I marked over 40 places where I saw an error. Once she wrote the possessive its as it's and its' in the same paragraph. I noted but did not mark numerous run-on sentences as well.
Ian is the pack enforcer. He is one sexy wolf. Being a former Marine he can be a bit uptight. Melanie is a beautiful sexy druid. Ian and Melanie are drawn to the middle of nowhere just so they can meet. They are mates. It seems true that opposites attract but can they survive each other long enough to fall in love? Great story. We'll written and edited. Jo Ellen does a wonderful job of combining all kinds of supernatural beings and putting a neat twist on paranormal romance stories. Looking forward to learning Devlin's story. I can't wait to see what kind of mate he will find.
Campy and fun. At times a bit confusing and jumbled with some editing missteps but overall a good read. A lot of magic and some shifting keeps the story flowing. On my Were Scale of Hotness, 4 stars for Rafe, Ian and Devlin.
I love new authors even if their old to others if I find a new author and they write series...wow. This series has everything I look for...shifters,witches,fae and Druids. Hope for more books soon. Great read.
Great follow-up to the first book. This book is about Ian. Really looking forward to the book on Devlin sure wish author would get it published. I have read both books multiple times and would really like to see who Devlin gets as a mate.
The play between the primary character's is great. I'm going to enjoy the third book in this series. I hope that Jo Ellen keeps writing for a long time. Her stories will definitely keep you enthralled.
This was the second book in the series. I have nothing but great things to say about these books. They are fun to read, they take you to magical places. I hope this talented author writes many more stories for many years.
Time melted away as I read this book. It's so different than the normal. The characters were so vivid and totally believable. Please write more with these characters.
