After the MEGA cliffhanger at the end of her last book, I’m so glad I was able to read the sequel after just under a year.
And I have to say, this book has really stepped up a gear.
Soooo good, so dark, and utterly twisted at times. I was completely hooked from the very first chapter.
The twists and turns in this story are off the charts.
I deliberately read the book a bit slowly, because I didn’t want the story to end.
So rush to the bookshop on 15 May and get your hands on this book!
Delihla, what a woman you are. Truly someone who doesn’t shy away from anything! Emilio, I think I’ve fallen in love with you. Chipper, I totally get you!
First of all I want to thank you, Luci for blessing me with this amazing opportunity to read this book as an arc! I just want to say that this review reflects my own honest voluntary opinion.
Now onto the review… If you thought that Chains of Rage was good.. Than you’ll absolutely LOVE this one! Because somehow it got even better! In this book we follow Delilah Philips and Emilio Lopez. We already know Delilah from Chains of Rage. Emilio is a new character and oh do I love this man!!!! Emilio the man that you are!
Delilah Philips is a badass biker woman who loves her fire and setting things on fire. She’s a wild one and wants to keep it that way.
Emilio Lopez is a morally grey man AND a single dad. Yes you heard me right! He also has an obsession with Delilah that grows every day. And he wants to tame Delilah just to spite Chiller Champion… Or so he says..
Dante, Emilio’s son, is so kind and the way he cares for Connie-Rose is heartwarming! I love that you see him grow fond of Delilah to the point that he tells her that he loves her (there was a tear, but like a good one it was such an adorable scene)
This book was so good!!! I was solddddd with the Spanish nicknames! Mi gatita - I was giggling and kicking my feet every time he said that Mi deleite - I was actually MELTING
Also the bike(r) fan girl in me just has to say that the bike mentioned (Bimota Tesi H2) is so AWESOMEEEEE!!!
Flames of Rage was an amazing spicy book, I’m so sad that I won’t be able to read it for the first time ever again. I was hooked since page one and I’m absolutely obsessed with Delilah and Emilio’s story.
I would 100% recommend this book. 3🌶️ (the spice was sooooo goodddd)
Flames of Rage by Luci Ryan is everything a dark romance reader could want—intense chemistry, dangerous characters, emotional chaos, and a female main character who is anything but soft and innocent. What made this book stand out the most for me was Delilah. She is not the typical female lead who wants to fix the morally grey man or be the “good girl” in the story. She is fire itself—wild, fearless, sharp-tongued, and completely unapologetic. Her personality made the story so much more interesting because strong female characters like her are rare in dark romance. She brings her own chaos instead of just reacting to everyone else. I also really enjoyed Emilio Lopez as the male lead. He had that perfect dark romance energy—powerful, possessive, and intense. I loved the chemistry between him and Delilah, especially the way he tried to handle someone as wild as she was. Although I am not always the biggest fan of the “taming” trope, especially when the female lead is such a strong and fiery character, their dynamic still worked really well for the story. This book can absolutely be read as a standalone, but for me, it was impossible not to connect it to the first book, Chains of Rage, the debut novel by Luci Ryan. That is where we first meet Chiller Champion—my favorite character in the entire series. And honestly, nothing could ever make me hate Chiller Champion. So when Delilah kidnaps his daughter, Connie-Rose, and then this book expects me to fully support her happy ending… I struggled. Watching Chiller devastated, searching everywhere for his little girl, absolutely broke me. As someone who loved him so much in the first book, it was impossible not to hold a grudge against Delilah. Even worse, seeing Delilah and Emilio joke about how she used Chiller and how everything between them had been fake honestly hurt. It made the emotional impact of the first book feel even heavier.
That emotional conflict is the only reason this book stayed at four stars instead of five. If this had been a standalone for me, or involved any other character, I probably would have rated it even higher. Still, Flames of Rage is an amazing dark romance and one I would definitely recommend to readers who love intense, messy, emotional stories with strong characters and high stakes.
And honestly, one of the best parts of the book was seeing Chiller reunited with Connie-Rose—nothing topped that for me. At the end of the day, I am simply a Chiller Champion girl, and that is never going to change.

One of the strongest aspects of this book is the decision to branch off from a main character from the previous book. It was refreshing to dive deeper into an existing backstory rather than starting from scratch with strangers.
Emilio and Delilah share a compelling, trauma-bonded connection. Both have been emotionally shattered by Chiller, and watching them navigate that shared pain provides the emotional backbone of the story.
Without giving too much away, the scene in The Cage where revenge is exacted while Delilah dances was absolutely diabolical, it’s easily the most memorable moment of the book.
The story felt quite slow, especially in the first half, which consisted mostly of a repetitive cycle of Delilah running and being caught. There were also jarring continuity errors, at one point Dee mentions being at the diner for weeks, only to later say she left Detroit three days ago. Delilah’s motivations were often confusing. Given her history of trauma, her excitement over being treated in a way that should trigger her fight-or-flight response felt inconsistent. Furthermore, her "obsession" with Connie lacked the necessary depth to make her actions feel earned; for someone she supposedly cares about, she seems to forget her quite often.
In a series titled Champion’s Rage, the lack of Chiller was felt. It would have added a great layer of tension to see a few chapters from his POV.
The spice level is a solid Level 3. It’s more descriptive and frequent than the first book, though the scenes often felt like they ended too quickly. The heat really kicks up around the halfway mark, providing some much-needed intensity to the slow-burn romance.
A decent read with a strong ending, but it required some effort to stay focused through the middle.
First of all i want to thank the author again for letting me ARC read her new book and gifting me a physical copy! Can’t explain how grateful i am! 🖤
Flames of Rage is the second book in the Champion’s Rage series, and it follows Delilah and Emilio. It’s a really quick, easy read that keeps you hooked. I really liked the writing! The best part was the chemistry between Delilah and Emilio—it begins as an intense obsession but gradually grows into something deeper and more genuine. Overall, I really enjoyed it and had a hard time putting it down. Looking forward to all the future books 💙
The level of toxicity between Emilio and Delilah should be exhausting but that couldn't be further from the truth, they need each other as much as they need air to breath.
Delilah is constantly running from herself and situations, finally she has someone in her life that claims he wants to tame her but in reality he needs her. Emilio may say she is a distraction he can't afford, in truth she is the fire in his life. "Because you, Delilah Philips, have made me feel more in two weeks that I've felt in my lifetime. you were right, fuck the waves. burn me alive, baby, but don't fucking run from me."
Favourite highlights
"You saved me." "Of course I did, mi deleite." "I'll save you a million times just so you can set my world on fire."
The flames became much more enjoyable when they didn't burn the ones around you, but flickered to the beat of your heart.
*************** When push comes to shove what matters most is those you love and protecting them at all costs. Emilio could have taken down his enemies but in doing so he would have lost Delilah in the process. I throughly enjoyed this book from start to finish and cant wait to read more books from this author. Looking for your next walking red flag morally grey MMC with a feisty and fierce FMC look no further.
Delilah is pure fire. The untameable kind. She's exactly the character I didn't know I needed and she delivered from start to finish. And Emilio. Single dad. Yes please. This man - the way he loves, the way he shows up, the way he and Delilah need each other like fire and water - I just loved him. The toxicity level went through the roof and I didn't mind one bit.
Connie-Rose already had my heart from before. She didn't lose it. But now she has to share it with Dante, who is an absolute cutie patootie and I will not apologize for that. Can you tell I'm a mom? 😅
I never thought Spanish nicknames would do something to me. And yet. Here I am, completely melted.
Hooked from page one. Ate this up. The story pulled me in and refused to let go - which at this point I should expect from this series but somehow it still catches me off guard.
Still team Chiller, for the record. But I'm starting to think it's okay to be on both teams.
What stayed with me beyond the plot and the characters is what this book was quietly saying underneath all of it - that it's okay to let your walls down. You are deserving of love. To embrace your fire. To never let it fade and never let anyone tame it.
‘I’ll tame you, Delilah Philips. Whether you want it or not.”
I received this book as an ARC, and wow… I devoured it in a single day! From the very first chapter, the story completely pulled me in and refused to let go. The pacing is incredibly smooth, making it impossible to stop reading.
This book has everything I love: intense action, amazing chemistry, the perfect amount of spice, and a storyline that keeps you hooked the entire time. But what really stood out to me were the characters. They felt so well-developed and layered that I became emotionally invested in all of them. I’ve changed from Team Chiller to Team Emilio so that says enough. 🤭
Luci Rayn did an incredible job balancing tension, emotion, romance, and action into a story that is both exciting and addictive. If you’re looking for a book that will keep your heart racing and leave you wanting more, this is definitely one to pick up! Highly recommend. 🔥📖
Congratulations on your second book girl!! You did an amazing job! 💙
I really loved Delilah and Emilio’s story. They were such a powerful match, water and fire in the best possible way. The chemistry, tension, love, and especially Emilio’s obsession with Delilah made their relationship so addictive to read about.
Delilah was wild, fearless, and full of fire, while Emilio was intense, powerful, and protective in a way that balanced her perfectly. I loved how he became her safe place without ever trying to dim her flame. Their dynamic honestly carried the entire book for me. One of my favorite quotes was: “I need you to burn brightly so my heart keeps beating.” ❤️🔥
That being said, I did find the first half of the book a little slow at times, and personally the Connie-Rose storyline wasn’t really necessary for me. I haven’t read book one, where that storyline apparently starts, so maybe I would’ve felt differently if I had.
Overall, this was a strong dark romance filled with emotional depth, danger, chaos, spice, and two incredibly strong main characters.
I received an arc for this book, and I’m so grateful for it. I really loved Emilio and Delilah. I’ve read the first in this serie, and I’m so glad to know how the cliffhanger ends. If you thought book 1 didn’t have enough spice, this book really makes that up to you😮💨. The tension in chapter 14👀. It’s an interconnected standalone, so you can just read the 2nd book. But I’m very happy I read both.
I cannot express in words how good this book is, it truly made a personal impact on me, i was kicking my feet, giggling and ugly crying. I really recommend anyone that loves a strong fmc and a mmc that wants to tame her. He is also a father, that is something i dont always go for in books but i loved it sm in this book🖤 Luci’s writing style is so beautiful too. The end got me actually gripping the couch.
❤️maffia romance ❤️cat & mouse ❤️touch her and die ❤️morally grey MMC ❤️strong FMC ❤️forced proximity
Review: These two😍 the banter between these two was really fun to read. And the spice that came after it 🤭🫠 I lived how Delilah didn't accept sh💥t from Emillio and pushed his boundaries. Or when Emillio finally saw what Delilah was for him. And what she could do. I will defenitly start reading more of this author😍 thank you for the opportunity to read this book!
I really enjoyed the story of Emilio and Delilah. I had a bit of trouble to get started in the story but for some reason i couldnt put it down because i just wanted to know more. If you are looking for a badass fmc and a mmc who thinks he can tame her this is the book you are looking for🔥
Wow... Luci... You. Did. It. Again. I love the connection between the 1ste book and then the 2nd! I love both Emilio and Delilah, and I really really hope that there will be a book 3!!
